Shipping Woes in canada

Ok. I know a similar question has been asked many times before but really, how to deal with the outrageous shipping rates by Canada post that are nothing short of highway robbery? Just shipped an item that barely weighed more than 300 grams to Alberta (from BC) and was shocked when they told me the shipping cost was $13. That's like 40% of what I sold the item for (offered free shipping). So, after all fees I ended up making a net profit of $10 on the $35 sale !!! So, what if I sell something a lot heavier? How can we make any money with these outrageous rates? I thought about going to the US to ship -since I'm only about 15 minutes from the border- but the US customs told me I'd have to pay like $10 if I bring stuff with me with the intent to ship it from there. So yeah, how the hell can we make any money here?

So, what if I sell something a lot heavier?   1) Buy your shipping through paypal -- Expedited parcel gets around a 15% discount (ignore regular parcel since it is not any cheaper and has fewer benefits). 2) If under 500g AND less than 2cm thick you can ship using oversize lettermail2015 rates:
051-100g .. 1.80
101-200g .. 2.95
201-300g .. 4.10
301-400g .. 4.70
401-500g .. 5.05Not insured, but rates are good for all of Canada (unlike parcel rates which vary by location). 3) Know where the price weight breaks are for sending a Canada Post parcel. Your 300g item would cost the same as a 600g item as they both would be on the first level of under 750g, next level is under 1 kg, then every 500g above that is a new price level. To a max of 30kg. 4) Small is good.  Point 3 is modified by dimensional (volumetric weight equivalent) surcharges if your package is too large. Canada Post and most other shippers (UPS, Fedex, etc) now charge this. Calculated for expedited parcel as volume in cm / 6000 = adjusted weight.  --  so a 30x30x30cm box would be treated as 4.5kg, even it only weighs 1kg. So make sure your item is not too large when packaged. 5) Use calculated shipping when listing. This does mean you have to have good idea what the parcel will weigh and how big the parcel will be. It has the advantage that you do not need to worry about parcel shipping costs to remote areas. 6) If not using PayPal to ship, then sign up for Canada Post's "Solutions for Small Business" (formerly called VentureOne) program, which gives you some discounts (and allows you to buy Expedited parcel at the PO counter for the same price as regular parcel).   More reading: www.canadapost.ca/tools/pg/manual/pgabcmail-e.asp

Be aware that you can only ship to Japan if you order the book with a credit card with a Japanese billing address.

Trying to buy a greeting card i've designed in iphoto and have it shipped to a Canada address but only UK shipping is option. First time i've ever attempted this. What do I need to do so I can send card to desired address in Canada?

There seems theres no solution. Rang Apple telephone support and because the billing address is UK based the shipping address must be to. Ridiculous!

  • What are shipping costs to Canada?

I am living in Australia and making a hardcover photobook. How do I ensure I keep shipping costs down?  Can I do it create it online as if I was in Canada and only pay local shipping costs? thanks G

Don't know.  If you have iPhoto 9 you can set the Print Product store to Canada and see if you can order the book in Canada with a Canadian shipping address.
Let us know how you fare.

  • Why can't I change my shipping address from Canada to the US when sending a calendar through iPhoto?

I have ordered iPhoto calendars to my home in Canada, but would now like to send the same calendar to the US.  Why will iPhoto not allow me to add a US address for shipping?  I can fill in the zip code & state, but there is no toggle to US (it only give Canada as an option).

Because you have a Canadian iTunes/app store account/apple ID  and you must have a valid billing method and address in the country your "store" is in.
As far as sending items as gifts, I have no idea.

  • Shipping Woes

I have recieved my 20 inch widescreen display, my ipod nano and as of August 26th my Mac Pro had shipped via the company Sameday Right-O-Way. It is now 4 days later and when I try and track my shipment it says the following
Your shipment has not arrived at a Sameday facility. Please refer to your shipper.
Have any of you had this same experience? The reason I am asking because there doesn't seem to be an appropriate option in customer service to deal with my kind of problem.

Ahhh I remember those frustrations. In Canada, SameDay will not show any status until it crosses the border, which will be about 10 days and then another 7-8 to your door. Total trip for my G5 from the day it shipped, just over 2 weeks.
Its too bad but that is how SameDay works
    Good Luck

  • Customer Service/Shipping Woes

Just got off the phone with Best Buy customer service (had to call 3 times, total time on phone was well over an hour).
I ordered an item which shipped on 10/16/2014 via UPS.  Expected delivery date was 10/24/2014.  On 10/27/2014, I contacted UPS to see what was up.  They told me that Best Buy shipped it via a service called "Sure Post", which means that at some point UPS handed the package over to the US Postal Service.  I was given a USPS new tracking number, which I checked at USPS -- which said that my package was delivered in Houston, Texas.  The problem is that I am in California!    So after explaining this to the customer service rep (who put me on hold and forgot about me), I was finally told that a replacement item would be expressed shipped to me a no charge.  After this 45+ minute phone call I hung up.
A minute later, I got an alert from my credit card company that a $19.99 charge was just made to my card from Best Buy!  Upon checking it appears that Best Buy an immediate charge on my account to pay for the shipping (not what the customer service rep promised).   So I immedately get back on the phone to try to get this straightened out -- I explain the situation to the next customer service rep, and she tries to transfer me back to the original rep who placed the replacement order -- call went on hold (about 10 minutes), then the line dropped.  Frustrated, I call again and speak with a different rep, who transferred me to the shipping(?) department.  I was told that the original rep had made a mistake and they couldn't remove the $19.99 shipping charge.  I was told that a $19.99 credit would be put on the original order to make up for this.   So...15 minutes later, I was done and went to check on my account.  I see a credit of $19.99 as "Digital Dollar Credit" (or something like that), but I'm skeptical as to what the really means as the $19.99 is still pending on my credit card.
A really frustrating experience.  The item I originally ordered was only $69, too....really not worth the time that I had to spend on the phone to resolve this (of course, I'm assuming that it will be eventually resolved when I actually get the replacement product).

    Hello jerryaqua-
If you are like me, you hate waiting for your orders to arrive.  I’m constantly checking the status of the order to see when it ships and when it’s due to show up.  I know I would be alarmed to see my order was going to another state entirely!
It’s also concerning that you were told the shipping fee would be waived on your re-ship, only to see that charge appear on your credit card.  In looking over your order, I can confirm what you were told, in that the shipping fee was charged, but they did apply a credit back for the $19.99 back to your account (which would generally appear as what you described, each bank usually listed these differently).
From what I can see, it looks like your product arrived yesterday, so I hope you received it and are currently enjoying it!  We have documented the issues that you encountered here for review by our BestBuy.com management staff and I absolutely apologize for any inconvenience that it caused you.
I hope that this will not impact your desire to order again with us in the future!
    Sincerely,

  • IPhone ship to Canada currently?

Does Apple ship the iPhone to Canada, because many people have hacked versions up here in the north, but they usually have to get it shipped to the states then to Canada. So can I get it from the site, and ship it to Canada? And can I still get it for the ridiculous amount. For goodness sake Apple, the Canadian dollar is worth more now, change your prices!!!!

Taking a trip to the nearest Apple store to buy the iPhone doesn't take much time out of anyone schedule. In my case I made a day out of it by not just buying this magnificent smartphone but also touring Seattle's sites and shopping for clothes, etc before heading back to Vancouver, BC.
As for the price I find Apple's iPhone pricing to be very competitive. Especially when compared to other smartphone retail pricing such as the HTC Touch, RIM Blackberry Curve and Palm Treo 750. Even after paying the California state tax and duty when crossing customs I was still getting a bargain. My advice is to ensure you have purchase insurance on you credit card since unlocking the iPhone voids the manufacturer warranty. This way if something does go wrong you at least have replacement value for the iPhone.

  • Does US apple ship to canada

The new iphone6 plus was presented, and I'm interested in getting it. And I'm living in Canada, in apple store in Canada, the price of iphone6 plus is $100 more than in US apple store. Can I order on US's apple store and ship it to Canada? The price that I pay will be US price or Canada's price? Do I need to pay duty tax or something else?

Also, make sure you are comparing "apples to apples" so to speak
*exchange rates are spot from about an hour ago*
    1 Canadian Dollar equals
    0.91 US Dollar
    1 US Dollar equals
    1.10 Canadian Dollar
    store.Apple.com/us/buy-iphone/iphone6 = iPhone Plus 128GB = $499 USD   [  = $551.05 CD at today's exchange rate ]
    store.Apple.com/ca/buy-iphone/iphone6 = iPhone Plus 128GB = $1079 CD   [  = $977.09 USD at today's exchange rate ]
The $100 of which you speak of is hard to figure out (for me at least). Canadian taxes+fees+??
    best luck

  • Is there a way for me to send an ipod from canada to the USA online?

does anyone know if i can end an ipod from canada online to usa online? i mean can i send someone in the usa a ipod from canada online?

If you buy from Amazon or MacMall or other online store, you may be able to have it shipped to wherever you want. Amazon gives you the option of shipping to an address other that your own. I ordered my Touch 5 from MacMall and there were no shipping charges because of the price ($284.99 for the 32GB model). You may have to pay shipping charges to Canada.

  • What to do if the cost to ship is greater than your product price?

I'd like to sell an item that fits in a 12cm x 12cm x 6cm box and weighs about 55 g (box and packaging included). I'd like to list the product for $5 at most, but according to the shipping calculator, the package would cost about $10 to ship. How would I make profit in this case, and how can I offer free shipping? (In the past, I've purchased $3 products with free shipping from sellers in Asia. The cost to ship should have cost way more than the money earned from the product itself--since it's international shipping--so how is profit made?) Thanks!

Get the Chinese sellers right out of your head.Their manufacturing cost is risible and the Chinese government heavily subsidizes the cost of shipping, unlike our own.And sadly, some just don't ship anything making their money because customers forget the pennyante purchase and/or don't bother to complain when nothing shows up. Look instead at your costs and your buyer's total invoice. You need to cover your procurement cost (on a $5 item that should be less than 50 cents)You need to cover your eBay and Paypal fees (about 20% of your buyer's payment, perhaps more unless you are using PP micro-payments)And you need $10 to cover the cost of shipping. Which is cheapest ?A $5 item with $10 shipping?A $10 item with $5 Shipping?A $15 item with Free Shipping?Yes, they are all the same item.Yes, the buyer probably knows that shipping is included in the cost of the Free Shipping purchase, but she likes it anyway. And she will convince herself that your '$15 ' item is better quality than your competitors '$5' item. Also, frankly the person who pays a fair price for an item is a nicer customer to deal with than one who is a bottomfeeding bargain hunter. And for you, the fees will be a little lower with 'free' shipping, including no shipping FVF on items shipped outside of Canada even if you were to send Overnight Lickety-Split GoldPlated Express with Signature Confirmation and insurance. So my advice would be to put the item up at $15 with Free Shipping. Remember you also get a break by buying in loonies and selling in USD. As a new seller, you have been guided to the simplified Sell Your Item form. Look at the Site Map for the Advanced SYI form that allows you to sell in US dollars. Voila! You just made another 15-20% on your sale! I'd also offer the unwanted advice that you not  sell this item on eBay. The value is too low unless you are fairly sure that most of your sales will be for multiple items. (This happens in sportscards, beads and scrapbookng for example, where customers will order dozens of $1.00 items to be shipped together. Each sale would be a money loser, but the total sale is profitable.) In my opinion, if an item can't sell for $9.99USD, it will not be profitable. There are also items that sell at a decent price, but packaging and shipping the bulky item makes the profit disappear.
