Shockwave doesn't want to install through IE8 on XP

Flash installed and works fine, but Shockwave doesn't on the same machine inside IE8.
When I run Firefox on the same machine, both Shockwave and Flash work just fine.
When I click on the "Agree and Install Now" button on http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/, it goes to the next page, and attempts to do something, then the player just gets the little red 'x'. I see no golden bar at the top of the browser. I verified the security settings for IE. Reviewed the Add-Ons don't have it blocked or disabled.
I ran the Shockwave uninstaller, rebooted, and tried again. Stil the same results.
I'm at a loss as to why IE wont take an install of Shockwave.

I have been trying the install from this page which is the ActiveX control install
http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/ (clicking on the "Agree and install now" link)
It will transition to the next page where the browser works on something for a about 30 seconds, and then the red 'x' appears in the Shockwave position on the page.
If I go to the support page for Shockwave, it has a what says is a pointer to the full download, but its just a link to the same thing as above.
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/#sp (clickingon the "full install")
Your link to do the full download install downloaded ok, and it ran the set up just fine with no errors. However, when I return the Adobe site to see if Shockwave is working, it still shows the red 'X' using this test page http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/
The test page show that Flash is happy, but not Shockwave.
I see no errors reported.
I have turned off virus scanner. Dumped IE cache, rebooted, uninstalled, reinstalled, but no progress.

Hi, You might want to review the Troubleshooting Guide as it has been updated and a lot of new information is now included. If you prefer you can use the Manual Installer for IE which you'll see there. A lot of the questions that I would ask are listed also.

  • Have LR5.7 standalone installed.  Now with LR6 want to install through my CC2014 subscription.  Do I have to uninstall LR5.7 first or will the online CC App install regardless?

I have tried to install Lightroom through my CC2014 Photoshop subscription before.  Because I have a standalone version - 5.7 - I was unable to successfully install.  If I now want to install so I can get the newest upgrade to LR6, do I need to uninstall my LR 5.7 first?

LR6 or LR CC 2015 will run side-by-side with your LR 5.x. There is not need to uninstall LR 5.x first.
You can install the new version as (CC) Trial and later decide if you want to license by CC subscription or as stand-alone.

  • Photo paper doesn't want to pull through the printer

My Photosmart 6520 doesn't want to pull photo paper. For 4x6's I set it to photo tray and check 4x6 paper. I am using HP premium quality paper. It pulls from the plain paper tray. I take out the plain paper and it says out of paper. I tried several times. Just can't get it to work. When I try letter size photo paper, it drags and won't feed. it is like the paper is too thick. I have been dealing with this since I bought it and I am very discouraged. I tried calling support. They said I had a computer problem. I am not buying that. It prints great as long as I don't use photo paper. Any one have an idea?

    hicogal,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
If you have not already done so, you might double check the following settings.
Note the Media selection that tells the printer to expect the "thicker" photo paper from the photo tray.
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click on your Printer >
Printing Preferences > tab Paper / Quality >>
Select Paper Source > Photo Tray (if applicable for your model / this paper selection)
    Select Paper Size > 4X6" (tab)  *
Select Media > HP Advanced Photo Paper
    OK
    * Select "tab" if your paper provides the tiny indented tab on one end
Example - Using Windows Photo Viewer
NOTE that Fit picture to frame is NOT checked

  • 802.11n Enabler Doesn't Want To Install

I have a new MacBook 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and when I downloaded the new Airport Extreme 802.11n Enabler it tells me that my computer doesn't have the correct hardware. I am missing something here? Everything I have read tells me that this should work and this hardware should be built in. Let me know if you have any insights...thanks

Grahamstine, Welcome to the discussion area!
Are you certain that your MacBook has the 'Core 2 Duo'? There are 2 different 2 GHz MacBooks. One has a 'Core Duo' processor and the other has a 'Core 2 Duo' processor.
Go to the Apple menu and select "About this Mac". It will tell you what type of processor your MacBook has.
If your MacBook does have a 'Core 2 Duo' processor, ensure that you have installed the AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001.

  • I downloaded OsX mavericks and it doesn't want to instal.

i downloaded OsX mavericks and when i came to instal it a message appeared 'close all applications to instal'. i clicked on it several times, waited, and nothing happened. Then i clicked 'quit instal', the downloaded Os X mavericks disappeared and i'm downloading again. Did anyone face the same problem? Any idea what to do if it doesn't instal again?

    Hi daddyh,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The "Install OS X Mavericks" application will appear in your Applications folder once it is downloaded.
Check the Applications folder to see if it is there, or do a Spotlight search for this file.
Double click on the Installer file to begin the installation.
The file will be removed once Mavericks has been installed.

Today, I tried to updated my Itunes, but it didn't worked and said ''error 7/windows 126''. So I went looking on the web and it said to uninstall then re-install Itunes and is components. This is what I did, but I don't know if I uninstalled them in the appropriate order and now everytime that I try to install Itunes it says ''Service apple mobile device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.''
    What do I do now?

  • When I download iTunes to my android tablet it doesn't want to install instead it brings up kingsoft word proccesor.

    Same as title

Look in the Android App store. If it isn't there, then you can't.
By the way, this is a support forum for Apple products, not Android. So perhaps posting in an Android forum might be a better idea.

  • I bought a new macbook pro but it doesn't want install os x mountain lion

I bought a new Macbook Pro but it doesn't want to install os x mountain lion.
I started the pc, filled in my language, chose "install os x mountain lion", it took a while, the pc restarted and asked the same things.
What am I doing wrong? I can not go to my desktop.
When the pc is restarted os x lion mountain is installed but i can't go to my desktop.

Either that or they failed to install an OS on it before shipping.
For a brand new Mac, I'd return it.
Here is the article on Recovery, which is what you are seeing:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4718
The hard drive should have a hidden partition which holds the standard Recovery HD. That is what you use to repair and reinstall. If that fails, or you have to replace the hard drive, you can use Internet Recovery which boots into Apple's servers.
You could try Using Disk Utility to see if you can Repair the disk while booted into Recovery, but it just all sounds like a future of bad things if it starts out this way.

I have the original snow leopard disc and I think it's a retail version . Please guide me through the installation in details. Can you also please let me know about this boot camp.

You cannot. From a legal standpoint, the license agreement for OS X mandates that you run OS X only on Apple hardware. HP is not (yet) owned by Apple.
From a technical standpoint, your HP laptop doesn't use EFI, but rather an early predecessor called a BIOS. Apple is the only vendor of consumer computer hardware that uses EFI; other vendors reserve EFI for use in servers.
Secondly, Apple's operating systems support a rather limited number of configurations of video hardware and mainboard chipsets directly since they need only support those systems that they manufacture. You cannot use Windows software or drivers on OS X, so prior to installation, you would need to write your own hardware drivers for your laptop, create an OS X drive image on a Mac, and then modify that image with your drivers before putting it in the HP.
It will be simpler (and legal), to simply purchase a used Mac. Apple's online store has refurbished MacBook Airs starting at $850 and Mac Minis for $700. If you go to e-bay or craigslist, you'll find used Macs for considerably less.

  • 2011 MacBook Pro, 64 bit i7 quad core, upgraded to Lion OSx, Bootcamp installed with Windows 7, wanting to install Windows 8 (don't ask), tried downloading/installing bootcamp 5.0.5033, error message something similar to bootcamp doesn't support this Win

2011 MacBook Pro, 64 bit i7 quad core, upgraded to Lion OSx, Bootcamp installed with Windows 7, wanting to install Windows 8 (don't ask), tried downloading/installing bootcamp 5.0.5033 (both on the mac/windows partitions (actually using a parallel to run Windows)), error message something similar to bootcamp doesn't support this Windows
So the question is am I doing something wrong? Should I just try and install windows 8 through my windows 7 partition and see if I can use the bootcamp 5.05033. Or do I solely have to use the bootcamp to install Windows 8? I'm not too familiar with bootcamp and how it runs.

if you're using parallels and full bootcamp then you're making it 100% more troublesome for youself then it needs to be
bootcamp is running windows directly on the hardware this give full memory and cpu and 3d video game power
running windows in parallels is running a virtual machine where one can't run powerful games and the like but one can have it in a window and change fast between osx and windows
parallels as the only virutal machine (as far as I know) support not have the operating system as a file on the osx harddisk but can access a bootcamp parition as virtual machine but without the benefits bootcamps provides
it's a service parallels provide for those who want both to play games in normal bootcamp and sometimes use windows in a virutal machine
just install it like a normal virtual machine and you need not worry about bootcamp drivers and the likes
plus it would mean that the windows part would be a part of the timemachine bacup of osx
which it is not when it's in bootcamp

  • I just bought a new IMAC and i want to install the Office Mac 2011, but it doesn´t have a CD unit. How can I do it?

I just bought a new IMAC and I want to install the Office Mac 2011, but it doesn´t have a CD unit. How can I do it?

Howard has the easiest answer. Or at least, cheapest, since you don't need to purchase an external CD/DVD drive.
The "demo" software from Microsoft's site is exactly the same as what's on the DVD. Install that and activate it with the key in your software box.
    From Microsoft's site:
How do I install Office for Mac 2011 if my Mac doesn't have a DVD drive?
There are two options for installing Office for Mac if your Mac doesn't have a DVD drive.
Option 1: Convert your Office for Mac 2011 trial. To convert a trial version, you must have a valid product key. The product key will convert your trial into a fully licensed version of Office for Mac.
    1. Locate the 25-character product key in your product package or confirmation email.
    2. Open any Office for Mac application, like Word, PowerPoint, or Excel.
    3. On the first screen of the Microsoft Office Setup Assistant, click Enter your Product Key.
    4. Enter your product key and complete the installation instructions.
Option 2: If you have not previously installed the trial version, you can download Office for Mac from the Office for Mac website. To download, install, and activate the software you must have a valid Office 2011 product key.
    1. Locate your 25-character product key found in your product package or confirmation email.
    2. Go to www.officeformac.com/download
    3. Click Get Started to start the download process.
    4. When prompted, enter your 25-character product key and select your product language.
    5. When prompted, sign in with your Windows Live ID or sign up and create a new Windows Live ID account.
    6. After you enter your Windows Live ID, you will see a link to download the software. (You will also receive a confirmation email with a link to your My Account page if you prefer to wait and download your software at a later time.)
    7. Click Download Now to start the download.
    8. Save the file to your desktop. Do not change the file name.
    9. When the download is complete, double-click the .dmg file icon on your desktop. This opens the Installer application in Mac OS X.
    10. Follow the instructions in the installer screens to complete your installation.
