Short burst of noise playing any MP3. Model 8900

Known good MP3's, short burst of noise at beginning of playback of any and all MP3's. Originally using stereo Bluetooth, but disabled Bluetooth and does same through external speaker. Anyone know of solution? Playing from 8GB Class 6 Transcend card.

Help! Premiere CS3 won't play any mp3s!!

This has always worked; I don't know what has changed.
Now, if I import mp3s, all looks well until I try to play them either on the timeline or source window. There's no visual soundwave present whatsoever and it just plays silence (though for the right amount of time). It would be as if I were loading silent mp3s.
These are not DRM protected, several I have created myself. I can play them on the same computer in every other mp3 playing program that I have.
Any idea what could be causing this????

Before I list more details let me just mention that Jim's suggestion worked... odd that I didn't think to do that before. I've tried importing the existing project into this new project and it looks like that's going to work albeit with a little bit of inconvenience.
Here's likely a major detail that I left out. I finally got CS4, and installed it on the same machine with CS3. I had opened up the project a few days ago in Premiere CS4 but CS4 said it wouldn't change the project file whatsoever. I'm suspecting that CS4 did SOMETHING that affected the project. I don't know what else it'd be.
The only other significant changes of which I'm aware are installing MySQL and iTunes... though the latter has run on this machine before with no effects to Adobe software. MySQL is just a database system so I don't see what problem that could cause.

a 62 song playlist. I start on song 16. Immediatly the song will shuffle: 16-26-54-62 and then back to the main screen. Also when the songs are shuffling the play button in the top right corner is on.
Music will play if i start from track one with shuffle turned off and repeat turned on. But then i am limited each time to 1-5 songs.
Ipod has been in excellent working order since this has happened.

Error -36 is an I/O error, which could indicate a damaged Catalog file, corrupted bitmap or (even worse) a dying HD.
I would recommend to run Disk Utility and perform a 'Verify disk'.
If lots of errors are found, try to save as much files as possible to another disk.
Then perform a 'Repair disk'. Repairing a catalog file or bitmap might cause loss of files, that's why I recommend to verify first and save the files, before repairing.

In Firefox 21 you can long press on the playback to download the file. Firefox 21 can be downloaded from http://aurora.mozilla.org and it will show up as Aurora on the all apps listing.

ITunes will no longer play nor add to the library any mp3 files which I have created by conversion from a wav file.

I am running iTunes 10 on XP Pro and it will no longer play those mp3 files which I have created by conversion from wav files. I tried to delete some from the library and then re-add them but iTunes will not add them back to the library.
Can anyone help solve this, please?

Back up your purchased music before you upgrade, I've read at least 5 cases where purchased music has just gone.....missing.
That is not supposed to happen, didn't happen to me or thousnds of other iTunes users, but you don't want to be the 6th person, do you?

i've been using Premiere Pro for about a year and a half with no trouble, no crashes that i can remember.   I updated to 5.0.4 when it came out and experienced no problems.
I have not made any changes to my system (drivers, programs, etc.) since the last time i worked with Premiere Pro with no trouble. The only difference is that i generated approx. 52GB of new video files (mov. uncompressed 32bit 640x480 resolution) that i was beginning to edit in to a music video.
My current problem is:: there is absolutely no playback of video in 5.0.4.   not in the tiny project window preview, not in the source preview, and not in the timeline/canvas window.   when i push PLAY, the button turns into a square STOP button, but nothing happens.   this is independent of project or file type. The project i was working on when playback stopped is using uncompressed 640x480 32bit Quicktime files and one 44khz/16bit .AIFF file.   as a quick doublecheck, I just added a 640x480 Apple Intermediate Codec file and it also will not play back.   I opened older projects and none of them will playback.
My problem started while i was working on a project. I was working on the project for probably an hour and a half with no trouble. Then it seemed to get a bit sluggish and i could hear the HD churning a little more.   After rendering out a short section (just under 10 seconds), PPro did not play back the just rendered (now greenline) section. Immediate playback of rendered material was the default behavior, and this was the first time ever that the just rendered section did not play back.   I then discovered that no video would play back at all--in any of the windows.   I can scrub through all the video without any trouble--all the frames are there.
I shut down PPro, & restarted. No change.   I restarted my computer. No change.
Realizing that the problem was likely related to a lack of space on my data drive, i deleted approx. 500GB of files off my 2 TB drive, leaving just under a 1/3 of it free. i checked the drive for errors, and defragmented it. Premiere Pro still wouldn't play any file from any project.
The files are fine, they will playback anywhere else (several different file types involved in different projects). The files are compatible with Premiere Pro (uncompressed VGA resolution Quicktime .mov), i was editing on the timeline with them for hours before all video playback stopped.   All other Adobe programs (After Effects, Photoshop work fine).
I tried to find an answer/solution on these forums, unsuccessfully.   After uninstalling PPro and reinstall (did not help), and entire Suite uninstall, Adobe Clean, and reinstall, neither version 5.0.0 or 5.0.4 will play video --the no playback problem has persisted.
I was running out of HD space --i had less room than i thought -- down to about 7% of free space, a bone-headed move on my part. I'm not surprised that playback performance got compromised due to lack of space.   But i'm shocked that the problem is persisting.   Fortunately, i had just backed up my entire system the day before. (i've backed up many times before and this never affected PPro performance)
i tried to "CLEAN" the media cache for the sequence but it had no effect (in searching the forums, i saw somebody else have their 'crashing Premiere Pro' problem solved by hitting this button). I just took a look in the user/application support/adobe/common/5.0 to look at the "Media Cache" folder and the "Media Cache Files" folder.   Neither of them are empty, even after hitting the CLEAN cache button in the main preferences 'Media' settings window.   I don't know if this is the correct behavior or not.   (i'd expect a "clean" command to empty the folder, but i'm not the programmer)
This does not appear to be the ATI/5.0 problem that so many Mac users suffered (i was lucky to never have that problem).    Again, i've never had any problems with Premiere Pro over the last year and a half, until working on this latest project with the Hard Drive very low on space.   I'm 99.9% positive that's at the heart of the issue.
I don't understand why a clean reinstall did not help in this regard. The problem is clearly PPro specific.   I found one topic in the forum where someone else experienced this same "no video playback" problem, but there was never follow-up from the user saying whether or not his problem was solved (or what was done to correct the problem).
I'd love to get some help--- seems to be a very rare issue, but right now, i can do no video editing. btw, i started a new project as well and imported a .mov file -- same problem, no video playback.
the weird thing is that i can actually still edit video. i just rearranged my timeline assets and rendered out a minute-long quicktime (Apple Intermediate Codec) .mov and it looks and plays as it should.    This is really weird. I'm baffled -- there must be some way to fix this.   I don't want to have to go back to Final Cut, certainly not when i've already paid for Create Suite 5 Production Premium and EVERYTHING works except for video playback in PrPro.

hello.   hey, thanks very much for writing back. i got some good info with a search or two. (info about what regedit is and what corresponds to it in OS X -- regedit allows you to edit "preference" keys for individual programs, OSX's equivalent for these keys are the .plists in User & System: Preferences and Application Support)
what i ended up doing was uninstalling Premiere Pro (not the suite, just PPro).   Then i deleted a few preference files:
from User /Preferences/Adobe:
com.adobe.AdobePremierePro.plist
com.Adobe.Premiere Pro.5.0.plist
and from System Preferences:
the file: Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs
and..
/.../Premiere Pro/5.0/...

I then reinstalled Premiere Pro CS5, and fired up an old project and i've got playback of HD and DV files, and snappy editing and rendering, so hopefully i'm good to go.   I'm just going to stick with v5.0.0 because i actually don't remember ever having any trouble with it, and i don't remember v5.0.4 adding anything i was 'missing' or 'needed'

Mac randomly runs very slow in short bursts..

This is another "My iMac is running slow" question, but after searching extensively online, I couldn't find anyone with a problem quite like mine (or at least a cure for it)
I'll begin by saying Ive recently wiped my Mac clean and only restored my important files like Documents and Music etc. Nothing harmful at least. It worked great for a bit! But after a day or two my Mac started running slow. E.g apps loading up really slow, generally really sluggish and definitely not normal. But its as if these bouts of sluggishness came in short bursts, for about 10 - 15 mins and then it would be fine again.. I've checked the Activity Monitor during these slow periods but nothing seemed to hog CPU or RAM. I've run MemCheck to test the RAM, seemed fine. Ive verified disk, no errors. I just cannot work out whats wrong! Since the wipe I haven't used my Mac any differently from before and I've made sure not to download anything like 'CleanMyMac' software.

I've tried finding patterns as to when these moments occurs and a few times it tends to start when I opened a new tab in Safari and searched for something, webpages would load very very slow or not at all, and thus the entire Mac would slow with it. So I switched to Chrome.. But it happened again. Could it be internet related? I've got an external HD using TimeMachine to keep things backed up, but I really don't want to restore because I tried that already but the problem came back. Is it something simple like reseting PRAM (whatever that is)?

Creative MediaSource will not play certain MP3

I have a Creative Audigy 2 NX with a remote that I really want to be able to use. Programs such as GIRDER, WinLIRC, and uICE do not support the RM-500 remote control.
I can't figure out how to control the remote beyond editing and creating key files that send ASCII commands, but the problem with that is I cannot control programs that are not currently acti've. In other words, I cannot control winamp if I'm playing a game with my remote, which is what I want to do. The KEY files are structured as this:[KeyEvent690 etc]KeyName=whateveryouwantdisplayedNotification=- or 2 or 4KeyEventRemap=this is the important partHandleByApp=i don't know what this doesAnyway, if I set notification to -, I can send ASCII commands-- BUT these will not send to programs not currently on top. If I set notification to 2, as Creative did in their Winamp .x key file, I could control the program even if it is not on top-- BUT I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE KeyEventRemaps NUMBERS SHOULD BE. I cannot find this information, and I have tested as far as I am capable of doing manually (tested numbers through 500 MANUALLY).So what I want to be able to do is use my remote to control winamp, but that is impossible. And Creative MediaSource will not play streaming audio (for God knows why...). So what I decided to do was record to an MP3 player with a third party program and play that MP3 in the Creative MediaSource software (the built-in recorder will NOT work, as I cannot structure that into a playlist nor can I play the recording media nor can I minimize the program and mute the feedback-- I can only record if I'm playing, and this doesn't work). The first problem I encountered was several programs would not output MP3s that were playable as they were being recorded, however I finally did find one. This program, 3aLab iRadio, allows the MP3 to be played back WHILE simultaneously being recorded. The only problem is that this the Creative MediaSource software will NOT play the mp3. Out of the 5 different MP3 players I tested, ONLY the Creative MediaSource software would not playback the MP3 as being written. I cannot figure this out, and I am at a loss as to what to do next. I realize that Creative won't support streaming audio with their player, MediaSource, but what I like to do is listen to streaming internet radio as an item on my mp3 playlist in winamp. I wish to be able to control this with my remote, but as I cannot find ANY WAY out there to control my remote as I wish without further information, this is a dead end. My alternati've is to use the Creative software for which the remote was designed to work, but unfortunately this does not support streaming internet radio nor does it support MP3s that are being written to. This is driving me insane.
What I want to be able to do is have a playlist that I control with my remote, with the first item on the list being internet radio, the 2nd and such on down being MP3s. In winamp, this is doable, as well as in Windows Media Player, and most MP3 players out there. Since I cannot do this in Creative's software, I need a workaround alternati've. PLEASE.
So, in conclusion, is there anyone out there who can either tell me how to control my remote directly by identifying what the notification=2 keyeventremap=configuarions are, give me a program like girder however which supports the RM-500 remote, or tell me how to get MP3s that are being written to (aka incomplete) to play in the Creative MediaSource software?

How to simply play one mp3 at a time without a playlist or duplicate file creation

What's always baffled me about Itunes is the overkill factor for we who are media professionals and simply need
to be able to select and playback an audio file - without the proprietary architecture of the whole "Playlist" format...
and, as long as we're at it, without automatically having a duplicate of whatever is being played, created and placed
in a new folder somewhere.
"Back in the day..." I could take SoundJam - (actually the predecessor app that Itunes was originally based upon)
--which i still regularly use for easy conversion of .aifs to .mp3s -- and select/play any number of mp3s located in a
single file folder at random. No "playlist" was created or needed - and it didn't/doesn't dupe a copy of the file.
Can i in any way scale down or customize Itunes in a way that i can just play each mp3 in a given folder by selecting
it 'directly' and not have to have it generate a playlist "copy" - My use for Itunes as far as commercial production is
for quick review/play of sound elements, spots (commercials) audio clips, etc. For this I'm not looking to "order" or
organize anything, just simply start/stop an audio cut and move to another.
Alternately, any suggestions on simpler practical alternative 3rd party apps... Stuff like "Vox" comes kinda close but
i still have to drag and drop the icon of the audio file onto the app's icon to initiate play. Still, at least it doesn't force
me into a Playlist or generate a copy just by selecting and playing the cut.

My first generation Nano was initially sent back to Apple due to the battery losing it's charge to quickly. They sent me back what appears to be a replacement Nano and now this one won't play any songs downloaded from MySpace pages of bands, shared from friends (unprotected mp3 files) or otherwise downloaded from the internet.
Whats unusual is that any songs imported from a CD to the Nano play fine as do any songs purchased from iTunes. I know Apple has stated that any files the user wishes to play on their iPods will play as long as the format is compatible. (All of these songs in question played on the original Nano and the problems started when they said they fixed it and sent it back (although it is missing the engraving which to me indicates they gave me a refurbished Nano). My Applecare runs out in mid-October so I need to figure out what is wrong. I sent it back a second time and they told me they couldn't recreate the problem so they just updated the software and sent it back.
Someone suggested that some iPods have a part of the firmware activated (which Apple may have been testing) that prevents any non-ITunes store music or music no t off an original CD to fail to play.
When attempting to play downloaded songs from sites like Purevolume and MySpace the iPod plays for a few seconds then shuts down and restarts itself, all of these songs worked fine before Apple took it in for service.
Any suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem. It`s so annoying.
I did a little bit research on this discussion board and this problem seems to be known for quite a long time. It`s confusing me Apple is not able to fix that prob or give customers quick introduction to resolve the prob.
I am currently on vacation in Florida and just bought the new iPod 30 Gig. I transfered already songs from my music cd. That worked fine.
I bought 2 music video files, synced them with no error to the iPod, but it only shows me a black screen when I want to start the video on the iPod itself. itunes plays the files with no problem.
Any ideas how to fix it??

I can't no longer play any of my games i.e. Sins, Caesar IV, etc.

All of the sudden I can't play any of my games, EA or any other games. I get the following mssg. "Could not write license data, please contact customer support for further instructions". EA games can't help me. I have not made any changes on my computer as I'm technology challanged. I called my anti-virus people, I was told that my computer is "clean". Can anyone tell me what's can be wrong? please use easy instructions, lol, thanks. Also I've not been able to change my wallpaper.

HT5848 iTunes Radio no longer plays any songs. Just skips repeatedly.

I changed my Apple ID password and now my iTunes Radio does not work in any of my Apple devices.
I have a MacBook, iPad, and iPhone and iTunes Radio used to work great on all of them before I decided to change my password.
Now, whichever stations I choose to play, it just keeps skipping songs after songs for very long time and it doesn't try to even play a song.
In fact, it slows down my iPad Air and iPhone 5S as it continues to skips songs in the background by the way the icons' animates.
I have to close the music app from the multitasking to get it back from the slowness.
This also happens with the feature stations on the top, but it can only play the ads.
I am an iTunes Match subscriber, so I do not get ad on my regular stations.
I tried to use my Aple ID in my sister's iPad and it does the same thing. It still skips for so long without any playing any songs.
However, if I put my sister's Apple ID to my devices, iTunes Radio works fine.
I think it has to do with my Apple ID and it is frustrating that I cannot use part of the service I paid for.
I hope someone here can give an insight with what I am having trouble with. Thanks.

HI David - I actually had started another post on this same topic, and it was suggested there to 'update' all of your iTunes informatIon, although you don't really have anything,to change. This seemed to work for a short time for me, and then the skipping started again. I then had skip free radio for like a week, and then it started again yesterday. Today, I'm listening without issue. And yes, I use Cox too. I messaged them on FB, to which they sent me an article on an App Store outage that happened a few weeks ago, as well as a link to Apple on how to turn off the shake feature so to skip a song. I told them neither of those applied to my issue, and they told me to call Customer Serice and I just didn't have time for that. So I just let it come and go, but I'm convinced it's more of an ISP/Cox issue.

Nano Plus no longer plays any wma fil

I've had my Zen Nano Plus for over a year, and during that time it played both MP3 and WMA files with no problem. Now it won't play WMA files. I can transfer them to my player but it just skips those songs. This includes WMA files I downloaded from Limewire and from my CD collection. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If the WMA files are protected, they need to be transfered via Windows Media Player or Creative's software, otherwise the licenses won't transfer properly and the player won't play them. The Nano Plus does not support subscription music. I don't know anything about Limewire. The default on Windows Media Player is to create WMA files with protection. If you want to make WMA files from your CDs without protection, you need to change the setting in Windows Media Player.

ITunes 7 will no longer play some MP3's

MP3's that have played before now no longer play in iTunes. I can play the MP3's in WMP. iTunes will no allow me to add them back to my library after removing them now. There isn't anything wrong with my songs. What should I do?

I have a similar (maybe the exact same) problem. I have only ever used iTunes, since version 2 I think, and am at version 7.5 now.
More and more of my songs are becoming unplayable. It would appear to be the problem described in this thread, except for the part about editing the tags which I never do.
One song of an album plays fine, the next is completely unplayable in iTunes, Quicktime, and VLC, and the Finder's Preview function does not work.
This is getting REALLY frustrating. Any solutions ?
