Shortening the .fla development process

hello all,
I am going to try and make a small website with flash.  what I am going to try and make it look like is the cosmos (solar system, or moon landscape maybe).  a planet will be a button, which will take me to another page that's playing another movie, etc...    and at the end, I am hoping to get some elements on the page to query some mysql dbs that I already have set up.
I don't know flash very well at all.  actually, just today I was watching a few movie tutorials on it from lynda.com.  I am not surprised at all with what I saw, and it's what I expected.  It looks like flash is really a more complex and time consuming process than creating a simple html website, even a dynamic one.
I was watching the tutorials and trying to think of ways to shorten the development process, learning the ropes, etc.  One of them showed how you could use a movie clip to loop animation, even with one frame present, and that gave me the idea that there must be other ways too, to shorten this whole thing, or to use some tricks to get what you want faster.
I am using CS5, which I've had for awhile now, but my question is:  If flash is made up of so many components and process like adding pictures, adding frames, sound, keyframes, etc, what sort of things can I do to get what I want, or close to what I want faster?
The things I already know how to do obviously, are things like browsing the web for solar system images, background sound files, etc..., so I don't have to create those things myself.  Does anyone else here have more suggestions on this?
I know I am stuck with learning the program myself and obviously it has to be done.   Any suggestions on how to speed up the process of learning and such, or even suggestions on what is most relevant and not relevant in the flash program would be extremely helpful!   For instance, many flash templates that I see out there don't look complicated at all, know that I've taken a few tutorials on the program and know how it operates a little bit (and how complicated things can get!).
Thanks guys.

There is no shortcut to learning.  Before you can do something faster, you have to be able to do it at all.  Flash may seem complicated to you because you are unfamiliar with it, but as a web design tool it is no more complicated or time consuming than working with html/css/javascript... it might even be less intensive than them these days.  What can usually take time is developing animation elements, either with or without code, but that is one aspect of Flash that you can't achieve with other technologies (as easily a least).   But like anything new, it is a mystery that requires time, effort, and patience to become adept at using it.  So your best bet is to strap in and get to work.

First of all thanks for the reply.
But this is not the one I am looking for.Once again I am repeating my question.
I am working in a SAP platform oriented software firm and my company is going for ISO & CMMi Level3 certifications. Now I am a part of the QA department which is doing all the documentation work for achieving this.As you may aware of the different process areas like HR process,Finance process etc that comes under this.
Business Development team, which is responsible for getting projects for a firm is an important one.So I am asking for a Process area documentation in Business Development. Please help in preparing this.

  • Is there a way to shorten the "Open With" list?

    Hi -
This may be a question for Apple because it is a uniquely Apple Finder problem.
Or maybe some clever 3rd party Apple developer will take this on - because this is an Apple Finder problem (hint).
Is there a way to shorten the "Open With" list that appears when I right-click on a file?
Heres why this is important to me.
1- I'm seeing multiple versions of the same app on the list, like Photoshop CS5, Photoshop CS5.1, Photoshop CS 5.5.  I can't think of any reason why I would ever want to use an older version of Photoshop.  And it's not only Photoshop or even Adobe products.
2- I see incorrect apps being suggested.  If I right click on an Illustrator file I see that TextEdit is one of the choices.  I get Photoshop as an option to open HTML files.  I see BBEdit as an option to open JPEG files.  These are bizarre associations.  Why are they even on the list?
3- With so many irrelevant choices the possibility of selecting the wrong application increases and doing so is a waste of time and resources.  Once I accidentally selected a text editor to open a JPEG.  After about 3 minutes of RAM-sucking processing I got a huge file of jibberish text characters that was thousands of lines long.  Waste of time!
I KNOW I'm not the only one with this question.
Is there anyone out there with an answer???
    Thanks,
    JL

baltwo - thank you for the expert advice.
I did as you instructed and the situation is better but I don't believe it's solved.
I still get 3 versions of Photoshop when I right click on a PSD.  I also get Dashcode and Textwrangler - which are the oddest associations.  All together I get 25 apps responding to "Open With" on a PSD.  And this is an improvement.
Do you think I would get even better results if I ran the same command again?
    Thanks again.

  • Attn: Installing the Sample Applications from the ifs Development Kit

There are a number of problems with the sample Applications included in the
Developer's kit. These need to manually fixed in order to get the demos to work.
    #1: Solaris Only
The install of the iFS Development Kit, replaces the existing adk.jar with a new
one containing some additional classes. Unfortunately the install process does not
set the correct privileges on the new version of adk.jar. Please ensure that the
    file $ORACLE_HOME/ifs/lib/adk.jar is world readable.
    Bug # 1304730
This issue will be resolved on the next drop of the Oracle Internet File System
    development kit.
    #2: Generic
There is a problem with the way in which the login.jsp establishes a connection to
the repository. The current code makes incorrect assumptions about the name of the
iFS Service and the schema password.
    The following changes are required.
In order to connect to the repository 4 pieces of information are required.
    1. The iFS User Name
    2. The iFS User's password
    3. The properties file to be used
    4. The database password of the user who owns the iFS Schema
The Login.jsp needs to be altered so that it requests these four arguments before
attempting to establish a connection to the repository.
(The current version only requests username and password).
All four arguments need to be provided as arguments to the login method on the
underlying JavaBean that the JSP invokes when it want to open a connection
    to the repository.

#3. Making the BaseRendererClass available to the Protocol Servers
Note this step is not required if you have the 1.0.8.3 patch set installed.
Install the BaseRenderer Class. The BaseRenderer class is delivered in the jar file
ifsdevkit.jar and can be used to simplify the task of creating a custom renderer.
Unfortunately the jar file containing this class is not referenced in any of the Classpaths
used by the iFS protocol servers. This means that they will not be able to load any
customer renderers that extend BaseRenderer. In order to make BaseRenderer available
to the Protocol Servers it need to be placed in the appropriate directory under
    <ORACLE_HOME>/ifs/custom_classes.
Extract the class from the ifsdevkit.jar.
ifsdevkit.jar is located in <ORACLE_HOME>/ifs/lib after the devkit has been installed.
    jar -xvf ifsdevkit.jar
    extracted: META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
    extracted: BaseRenderer.class
Create the following directory heirachy in <ORACLE_HOME>/ifs/custom classes
    oracle/ifs/server/renderers
    Copy <ORACLE_HOME>/ifs/lib/BaseRenderer.class to
    <ORACLE_HOME/ifs/custom_classes/oracle/ifs/server/renderers
    That should do it.

  • How to view the characteristics in process order

Hi, How to see the characteristics in process order screen which are assigned in material master classification view. say, created a material and assigned some characteristics in classsification view. for the same material created a process order. like to see those characteristics in process order. is it possible. please advise.

    raju
to see this characteristic in the process orden you should go to Header >> CO Classification. If you want to add a characteristic, this should be added to SAP_KKR_CLASS. Characteristics for material  (001) are not the same than those for CO Classification (013), so you should develop some special report (we did some special developmet for the printing of order forms )

  • A failure occurred while the server was processing report file

    Hi All,
I keep getting this error while opening the report in Infoview,  "A failure occurred while the server was processing report file".
I checked Event viewer there i have lot of errors with the same message and the source is "BusinessObject_crproc".
Please advise me what i have to do to resolve the issue.
    Environment: BOXI3.1, CR2008, Windows Server 2003
    Thanks
    Sudharsan.

We got this error message on a report that had 5 subreports, 3 of which were based on stored procedures. The report was running fine in our Dev environment and in the CR developer, but not when we published it to another environment. The problem was caused because the stored procedures had been changed in Dev (so that they ran correctly) but these changes had not been released to the other environment. Once the scripts were run to update the stored procedures the report ran successfully. So it apepars that the problem was because the stored procedure/s the subreports were using were failing, but we only got the RCIRAS0546 error message.

However, when you go to the "Signature" tab and select a digital certificate to sign the air application with, this setting will NOT be saved into the file.
Instead, whenever you publish ANY air application, it will use by default the last certificate you have used, even if you used it to publish _another_ application.
That is absurd, because this is a tab within the "publish settings" and all publish settings are specific to a fla file.
Is there a way to fix it? Perhaps some global preference somewhere, or a windows registry key?
Or is it just a bug?
    thanks
    m.

I would think the signature is the signature specific to the user/company who has opened the fla and is used to identify the developer/company who has created the application.
Now if the signature setting was saved on the fla, and the fla is opened on a different guys machine,
first - he would not have the signature that you had and at the same location
second - it does not make sense to him, since he is not you.
It is unlikely that that a person/company creating applications would sign the swf/air with different signatures.
So I would think that the current behaviour is correct and the signature is specific to the person who has opened the application rather than the application itself.
    Hope this explains it.

  • Comparing ABAP development process with Model Driven Architecture concept

    My Background
I am a postgraduate student writing a Masters Degree Dissertation titled “An Investigation into how compatible ERP Development Process is with Model Driven Development Philosophy: A SAP R/3 Case Study”.
The aim of this project is to compare ERP system development process with Model Driven Development (MDD) and to identify whether and how they can be used together. Model Driven Architecture (MDA) is Object Management Group’s (OMG) flavour of the MDD philosophy and is the paradigm that will be used here.
I have chosen SAP R/3 as my case study in order to narrow the research and want to explore the development processes/cycle involved in using ABAP/4 to reconfigure/customize SAP R/3 system during implementation.
An overview of the MDA concept according to OMG is given below. Following this, I’ve provided some questions that are open to discussions.
    Overview of the MDA Concept
The Model Driven Architecture (MDA) is an approach to software systems development that separates the specification of system functionality from the specification of the implementation of the functionality on a specific technology platform. The MDA concept provides an open, vendor-neutral approach to system interoperability.
A recent study by the Middleware Company summarizes MDA paradigm as a development process that makes use of the following steps:
    1.     Secure business requirements for an application.
    2.     Develop UML diagrams for the domain model, independent of any particular technology (J2EE, Microsoft .NET, CORBA, etc). This UML model represents the core business services and components. This UML model is called Platform Independent Model (PIM) because it is completely technology-independent and will be the same regardless of whether you decided to use J2EE or .NET. You develop this UML model using UML modelling capabilities of an MDA-specific modelling tool.
    3.     Build UML diagrams for the application, specific to a particular technology (J2EE, for example). This UML model will have design patterns. This UML model is called Platform Specific Model (PSM). You can build this manually, or you can generate much of it using an MDA tool and hand-tune only pieces of it that require customisation.
    4.     Finally, generate the application code using an MDA tool. That is to say, instead of writing the application by hand based on the UML model, you generate the majority of it from the UML diagrams.
To develop an application using MDA, it is necessary to first build a PIM of the application, then transform this, using a standardised mapping into a PSM, and, finally, map the latter into the application code.
A mapping is a set of rules and techniques used to modify one model in order to get another model. In MDA, mappings are used for transforming:
    1)     PIM to PIM. This transformation is used when models are enhanced, filtered or specialized during the development lifecycle without needing any platform dependent information. One of the most obvious mappings is the analysis to design models transformation. PIM to PIM mappings, are generally related to model refinement.
    2)     PIM to PSM. This transformation is used when the PIM is sufficiently refined to be projected to the execution infrastructure. The projection is based on the platform characteristics. Describing these characteristics should be done using UML description. Going from a logical component model to a commercial existing component model is a kind of PIM to PSM mapping.
    3)     PSM to PSM. This transformation is needed for component realization and deployment. PSM to PSM mapping are generally related to platform dependent model refinement.
    4)     PSM to PIM. This transformation is required for abstracting models of existing implementations in a particular technology into a platform-independent model. This procedure often resembles a “mining” process that is hard to be fully automated. It may be supported by tools, though. Ideally, the result of this mapping will match the corresponding PIM to PSM mapping.
    Questions/Discussions
    1.     What specific stages are involved in development using ABAP/4? (e.g., requirements gathering, analysis, design, coding, etc)
    2.     Do these stages fit into any traditional software development lifecycle? (e.g. waterfall model, v-model, etc)
    3.     Which of the stages in (1) above best describes the Platform Independent Model (PIM) of the MDA concept above?
    4.     Which of the stages in (1) above best describes the Platform Specific Model (PSM) of the MDA concept above?
    5.     How does the Accelerated SAP roadmap relate to the MDA concept above?
    6.     Assuming there’s a change in business requirements of a company that could lead to reconfiguring/customizing the R/3 system, how is this achieved? For instance, if a model has earlier been developed for that particular process, how does the change in the model affect coding/modification?
    7.     How is coding achieved with respect to the reconfiguration of the business models or reference models?
    8.     Are all coding manually done or are there tools in the ABAP Workbench that enable codes to be generated automatically from the models of the system?
    9.     How much time is spent in coding compared to developing business models like EPC models?

I've also read about the SAP Composite Application Framework (CAF).
But it seems that it's only for Java development....

  • Development process in SAP

    Hi
    Please let me know,
What is the development process followed in SAP?
    Thanks in advance.

It would be helpful to go through the help document of ASAP Methodology.
The following information may clarify some doubts/requirements you have.
Generating the Project IMG through ASAP:
After you have set the project scope, the next step is to generate the Project IMG. From the Business Process Master List (BPML), you can directly access the IMG activities relevant for configuring each process.
BPML: The Business Process Master List, along with the Business Blueprint, is a key result of the second phase of the Roadmap. Microsoft Excel tables contain the SAP scenarios, process groups, and processes that have been set in scope in the SAP Reference Structure, and are crucial for configuring your SAP System. In Realization, the third phase of the Roadmap, the BPML provides the basis for monitoring and steering test activities and for configuring your SAP System. It contains the titles of the structure items, and displays the status, the owner, links to documentation and links to the SAP System. Amongst other things, the BPML allows you to:
    1) Set your baseline and final scope. These are used for baseline and final configuration.
    2) Access the Project IMG and specific IMG activities assigned to structure items.
    3) Access integration test plans, which help you carry out all required integration tests.
The Prerequisite is you have set the project scope.
Process Flow to use the Business Blueprint as a basis for configuring your SAP System:
    1) Set the project scope.
    2) Generate the Project IMG.
    3) Generate the BPML.
    4) From a specific processes in the BPML, you can go to the relevant IMG activities and make Customizing settings.

  • Rloe Creation in the SAP template process

    Hello,
Our Company is a subsidiary co. of a German based MNC Co. who have a global presence in Europe, America & Asia.
Our compnay is the first subsidiary Co. for roll out of SAP templet process and later on the same templet process has been rolled out in America & Asia. Our MNC co. has trageted to rolled out the same templet process for all the subsidiary Co. globally.
Under the global template process, presently, we are using the SAP standard roles and user specific roles for the transactions authorisation.
We being a subsidiary co., developing the Role based transaction authorisation matrix and would like to define the same in Global SAP Template.
    Questions:
    1. Being a SAP global templet process, whether this new role based trasaction authorisation roles can be define for our subsidiary Company in the templet?
    2. If , the answer is no what is the alternative remedy.
We would be glade to know the answer.
    Thanx & Regards

    Hi Prasad,
Yes it is possible. You will have to use handling units only as shipping units in the outbound delivery packing function. The handling unit can be defined during the transfer order confirmation (you have this in LT12 as packing) or in the delivery after the TO confirmation. You can only perform packing before goods issue.
I hope i'll helps you lot

  • The maximum report processing jobs limit configured has been reached -Error

I have Created a common page that has a CrystalReportViewerControl (name of this page is ShowReport.aspx). The report name and database name that required for the report is being passed in a querystring. The database connection info is being pulled from the web.config file. All of the reports that I am dealing with have dynamic parameters and the Crystal Prompt page is automatically being created by the crystal viewer for these. Everything in my application is working fine except that when I try to access any report for the 76th. time I get the following error "The maximum report processing jobs limit configured by your system administrator has been reached."
I have already researched this error and am aware that the PrintJobLimit can be modifed to increase this limit or can be set to -1 if we need to allow unlimited connections. However doing this is not an option due to the degradation of server performance.
The other option that I have tried is to make sure I close and dispose of the report document object on the Page_unload or the page_SavedStateComplete() however on doing so even the session variable that I am using to store the originally created reportdocument is loosing all of the values it requires to display the report. The session variable is still available i.e. it is still of type report document but it has no values for any of the properties like FileName, database etc , basically for all of those properties it show an error "Invalid File Path" when viewed in debug mode.
I have already tried several approaches but with no luck. Every single time I close the originally created ReportDocument object I loose all the required values in the Session
    I am using Crystal Report XI R2 , .Net 2.0 and ASP.net

    End Class

I have looked into Caching the report document as well. However, as you mentioned in the post it, it will only be usefull when the DB and the report parameters remain the same which is not the case in our application. We have multiple identical databases and hundreds of reports. Our users have the option of using a combination of any database and any reports, each report having numerous parameters.
Since one user can only access one report at a time. i do have cleanup code that removes the session variable used to store the reportdocument object in the page that is initially used to call the ShowReport.aspx page.
I understand now that the CR.net SDK is only good for light reporting only. Unfortunately when we started development based on all of the articles that I gathered, I didn't anticipate running to issues like this. But I guess that's the nature of the business :-).  And hence there are people like you who go out of the way to answer these difficult questions.

  • ERROR while enrolling the iOS developer program

    Hello there,
I've been trying all day long to enroll the iOS developer program, but I keep getting the same error over and over again.
I've double-checked my details multiple times, I've confirmed my email and everything they request, my Apple ID is also confirmed and active.
    Here's what happens:
    1) I get to step #3 of the enrollment process ("Review and Submit"). See screenshot:
    2) When I click on the CONTINUE button, I *always* get the following error:
In short: I cannot get past from step #3 ("Review and Submit") into step #4 ("Agree to License"). I always get prompted the same error no matter what. I've been trying all day long.
    Any ideas?
Thank you very much in advance!

    Thanks for reply.
I re-downloaded and its working now.
    thanks alot

  • JavaServer Faces Development process

Are there any guidelines / best practices how a JavaServer Faces development process can
be established. Mainly I'm worry about the separation between
HTML designer (page authors) and application developers.
Is it a "good" procedure to let application developer create a sort of prototype including
the JSP pages and MockBackingBeans to enable a reasonable
    preview for the page authors?
Or are there any other recommended approaches, how this can be done?
Thanks for any help in advance.
