ShortMidiEvent on Nokia phones', does it work?

Hello,
I am trying to send MIDI events on a Nokia series 40 phone.
I tried a little example: it works on the sun emulator
but it's mute on the phone...
(I am quite sure I can send midi notes on on the phone synth:
I've installed Midedit, a free midlet sequencer, and it works pretty well)

Its a long time since the question appeared, but in case anybody is interested here is a hint.
You should assign an instrument to your channel 1 first.
synth.setProgram(1, -1, 65); // Channel 1 gets Soprano Sax.
