Should I wait after sending a remote device wipe command before removing an ActiveSync partnership?

The process for terminating users at the company I'm presently working for includes remotely wiping any ActiveSync devices and then removing the ActiveSync relationship. I'm writing a PowerShell script to automate the process and, when I send the remove-ActiveSyncDevice
cmdlet after sending the clear-ActiveSyncDevice cmdlet, I get a warning that "the device is waiting to be wiped".
If I remove the device, does that cancel any pending wipe commands?
I've done as much web searching as I can in order to find the answer and I'm just having no luck. I would assume that Exchange would give me a more informative warning if removing the device would cancel the wipe request, but since there's so little detail
in the warning I just can't be sure.
I've read the technet references on the commands and the technet articles on managing mobile phones - none answer this question.
MS
Technet reference on clear-activesyncdevice
MS Technet reference on remove-activesyncdevice
MS Technet reference on Managing Mobile Devices
I have done numerous web searches with multiple search engines using keywords I would expect for this query. I have also searched these forums. I've also asked several of my colleagues at work, all of whom assume that the wipe command is still processed after
removing the partnership, but none of them have any references to back that up.
As a note, I'm using Exchange 2010, but I assume that it shouldn't be too different between 2010 and 2013.

Well, it seems no one knows the answer.
I dug up an old phone and tested. Here is my test scenario:
Add the account to the phone and sync with Exchange
Power off the phone
Send wipe command from EMC
Remove partnership in EMC
Power phone back on
Open e-mail and sync with Exchange
The result was that the e-mail client on the phone reconnected the mailbox and created a new partnership with Exchange. The wipe command was not queued and was obliterated along with the first partnership.
So the answer is: Yes, wait until confirmation that the phone has been wiped before removing the partnership.

  • "4 items to waiting to upload. Remote device is offline."

My Droid Razr Maxx keeps saying,"4 items to waiting to upload. Remote device is offline." What in the world is going on? My phone is linked to my computer, wireless is working, wi-fi is on, and i can't get this notification to go away. I've attached it directly to my computer via usb and still will not go away. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get this to go away?

I had the same problem!  I had to go to two different Verizon stores, one of them twice, in order to solve the problem.  The store I went to twice did a factory reset on my phone, and that did not solve the problem.  When I came back to the store the second time, a different guy looked at my phone and told me it has to do with Motocast and how it uploads.  He said the phone is waiting for my laptop to be on in order to do the update.   Connect your phone to your computer, log into your Motocast account, and try syncing your phone to your computer.  This should get the message to go away.  I have not seen the message again since I did this, and that was about a month and a half ago.  Good luck!

  • Introducing a wait after Send step - file write in cc BPM

    Hi
We have a cc BPM - in which we have a send step - that writes a to a file system - we have a transport acknowledgement requested in this step  - which we receive in runtime - once the message is passed into the Adapter engine ( not after the file is written )
The requirement is that the next step after this send step should not be started until the file is written to the folder. We have an option of introducing a wait - but do not want to delay the BPM by a full minute ( the least wait time is a minute ) .
How do we make sure that the step after send step - file write executes only after the file is written to the folder in the send step ?
Any ideas, solutions, work arounds ?

we have a transport acknowledgement requested in this step - which we receive in runtime - once the message is passed
into the Adapter engine ( not after the file is written )
Transport Ack sends back the ACK when the message is successfully delivered from the Adapter Engine (channel) to the end system.....and not when the message is transferred to Adapter Engine....if there is any error in sending message to AE then the BPM does not need Transport Ack logic to ctach it....only Exception Branch is enough then
is there any other way of introducing a wait - less than a minute
The Wait step of BPM cannot go below the minimum limit of 1 minute......if you want to introduce a delay of some seconds then in a mapping use the Thread.sleep logic and check.....this will slow down (stop) the processing....for more info refer:
Re: Delay in MM possible ?

  • HT3702 How long should I wait after I have bought an iTunes gift card to redeem it? I have tried redeeming it and it says it's invalid.

I bought a $15 iTunes giftcard at Maverik and tried activating about 20 minutes later, I thought that would be enough time, and it says its an invalid card code. Ive used $50 gift cards and they have worked prior to this. Help anyone tonight? I will go complain tommorrow if it doesn't work.

  • Remote Device Wipe needs Device Administrator

Just updated to v2.2.  I see that there is a new security function that allows you to set parameters to remotely wipe and/or lock your phone if parameters are ignored, such as if it is lost/stolen and the wrong password is entered...To activate this, I understand that a Device Administrator must be "selected" in Settings/Security/Select Device Administrator menu.  I have no options available in this area.  I have looked into Google, Verizon, misc forums and can find nothing.
Can anyone tell me how to "select the device administrator" so I may activate the Remote Wipe?
    Thanks in advance.

I came across this thread as I was researching the same issue, and thought I'd respond in case others ended up here:
I had a coworker volunteer his Droid for the test, and it took a couple iterations to get Remote Wiping to work.
The phone is the original Droid, running OS version 2.2.  The Exchange server is Exchange 2003, with the following options:
Within Exchange System Manager, (Root) -> Global Settings -> Mobile Services -> Properties
    Exchange ActiveSync group
    Enable user initiated synchronization: checked
Enable up-to-date notification via SMTP and Text Messaging: checked
Enable notifications to user specified SMTP addresses: checked
Enable Direct Push over HTTP(S): checked
    Outlook Mobile Access group
    Enable Outlook Mobile Access: unchecked
    Enable unsupported devices: unchecked
These settings are here for completeness -- I did not change these while working with the Droid.  The settings I had to play with were under the "Device Security..." button:
"Enforce password on device" is the only option I have checked at the moment.  I'll likely set sane options for password length and so forth.  The one setting that I had set at one point when Remote Wipe was failing was "Allow access to devices that do not fully support password settings".  It appears that you don't want this setting turned on.
As far as I can tell, enforcing the password is enough to have the Droid ask to make the EMail application one of the Device Administrators.  Once EMail is a Device Administrator, Remote Wipe works (it does not clear SD card contents, but restores the Droid to its factory settings, requiring reactivation and whatnot.)
I have further testing to do, and will post any additional findings to this thread.

    Agree with Richard:
-Your device needs both the CR and LF. To accomplish this:
option 1: Concatenate the "end of line" string constant (this is a combination of CR and LF, located in the string pallete) to all your outgoing commands. Make sure in the "Visa configure serial port" the "Termination character enable" flag is false.
option 2: Concatenate only a CR to your command's strings. Make sure in the "Visa configure serial port" the "Termination character enable" flag is TRUE AND that the termination character is set to 10 (meaning LF) which I think is the default.
Details can be seen in this link:

"Adding Termination Characters to VISA Serial Writes in LabVIEW"
Interesting would be to configure the serial port to accept not one but two termination characters. The above links refers to the document "Developer Zone Tutorial: Termination Characters in NI-VISA.", where this is supposed to be possible. The document however is 404'ed.
If someone find a working link please post it.

If you have iTunes 11 on your Mac then you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S, that might make it easier to navigate.
Connect the phone to your Mac and select it on that left-hand sidebar, and on the right-hand side of the screen there should be a series of tabs which you can use to select what to sync to the phone. If it's an audiobook then it should appear on the Books tab for selecting/syncing, and films will be on the Movies tab. When you've got the audiobook on your phone you should get an Audiobooks option in the Music app (you might need to tap the '...' tab at the bottom of the Music app to see it).

  • I need to reinstall sound lib should I wait to update to 8.0.1 till after?

    Hi
I really love the new Logic and after years of GarageBand recording I switched and just finished a simple piano , sax and vocal CD. I've just been using the piano but I noticed some problems with some of the other sounds. Piano&Strings is only piano and many of the dual sounds don't seem to be dual . There are also some missing sounds. I called Apple and the Logic Tech(he was a bit rude) said to reinstall the sound library.
Should I wait to upgrade till after the reinstall of the sound library?
    ---Thanks for any help

    Hi Bobsax,
It's pretty normal for tech support to bleat "reinstall, reinstall" but let's just check a couple of things first.
Some diagnostics for you (don't alter anything, just "check" when I've said to
Make sure the Inspector is visible
Double click on EXS24 on the track selected
Click on Edit in the top right hand corner of the EXS24 window
Play the graphic keyboard & check that you're getting same effects as when playing back a file
Under Zones down the LHS, click on one of the strong zones
Under Audio file, click-hold one of the downward pointing triangles
Select "Reveal in Finder" & check the file is there
Under Audio file, click-hold one of the downward pointing triangles
Select "Open in Sample Editor" (you may need to move windows around at this point)
Click on little loudspeaker at top of the Sample Editor window - and check that sample plays OK
In the column "Playback" check that Pitch is selected in all cases
If any of these don't work as expected, then you probably will need to reinstall the sounds. It doesn't matter when you do it (before or after 8.0.1) but I'd probably reconsider reinstalling the whole application again. I know that's 90 minutes out of your life but, if you had a problem with one part, you may have had problems with others as well and don't know it yet.
Make sure you don't try and move anything around in the installation. Allow the defaults for everything (all on the same drive). There are plenty of posts here that tell you how to move loops & samples around later and these have been well tested by fellow forum members.
Let us know how you get on.

  • After iTunes 11 I get error 15006, cannot connect to remote device

Since I've updated to iTunes 11 I get error code 15006. I can go into iTunes and re-select the remote device (an Airport Express) and it works fine. If I put my computer to sleep it generates the 15006 error. It happens at my work computer too which runs the same basic network.

    Hello, Darktowerfan1.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are a couple articles that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.

  • Showing remote device's files on mobile

Actually in my project what I want is that the mobile device will search for the available PC server and PC will share a folder like we normally share a folder on network.I want to show the contents of the shared folder on mobile device,so that user can select any file and copy to mobile device. How I should proceed.Does JSR-75 can show the remote device's files????thank you!

This is not an easy job but is not that hard either.
First of all you have to write two programs: one for the PC and one for the mobile phone. This two programs will communicate via bluetooth.
The J2ME application will have to use JSR-75 for file connection.
When the PC and mobile are connected the j2me application will send a string with the root directory for example. The PC application will display the the root directory(Here you can use swing,swt...). Because on the pc you can use all java power(it doesn't have to be java :D) you can draw the folders how ever you want but you have to put an an event on those(double click for example). In this stage the j2me application waits for requests from the pc program(this two are still connected). On double-click event the pc program sends a request(a string with the folder name) to the j2me application to send the content for the selected folder.
This is only a draft but it's a start. You should draw some sequence diagrams following the steps i described above.
    Good luck and regards,
    David

Java 6 you can't as Apple maintains it, and Java 7 you could if you uninstall it and Oracle provides the earlier version which they likely won't his last update fixed 37 remote exploits.
Java broken some software here and there, all you'll have to do is wait for a update from the other parties.

    Hi,
What is the device that has the IP address 172.28.209.110? Does it or any of the other devices on the way to the ASA have any type of ACL or anything else that could block traffic?
Can you see any connection on the ASA (or any logs gathered from the ASA) from the host 172.16.2.25?
Is there some TCP ports listening on the server that should answer to connection attempts? You could try TCP Ping from the ASA to those ports
    ping tcp 172.16.2.25 <destination port>
You can also give a "source" address in the above command if you need. In the event that you are running ASA software below 8.4(1) then the above "ping tcp" wont be supported.

  • Transparent FW and pinging to remote device

    Hi everyone,
I was reading about transparent FW  it says
Unlike a transparent switch, however, the device will not flood frames out interfaces for an unknown MAC address destination. Instead the ASA will respond with an ARP request for a directly connected device. If the destination is remote, the ASA will attempt to ping the remote device.
    Question
How ASA  will  ping the remote device will it ping by static route config on ASA ?
Say we have transparent FW between 2 switches  and  one side say switch1 has a server is connected to it.
How ASA  will ping this server?
Now we can say this server as remote device if it is on different subnet then the ASA interface?
Seems ASA  will have mac address of directly connected inetrfaces.
    Thanks
    Mahesh

    Hi,
I actually configured one of my ASA5505 as Transparent last night and tested it abit.
I had NO default route on the ASA5505 and the connections from the host behind the Transparent firewall worked just fine. Though I didnt use any management connection to the ASA other than console cable.
I guess for remote management connections and certain traffic originated by the ASA itself, the default route is needed BUT not for the actual host traffic through the ASA. The host already has a default gateway configured and it will ARP for its MAC address through the Transparent ASA and already knows where to forward the traffic to reach the remote host. ASA just has to determine where to forward the traffic.
I enabled several debugs on the ASA and it would indeed seem that when the ASA still has absoletely no knowledge of MAC address behind its "inside" or "outside" it will at the start use Traceroute.
I will post the debugs shortly.
