Show "Application Not Available" page if database is down.

I've built an application that uses BC4J, ADF and the JAZN authenication mechanism for login security (i.e. jazn-data.xml holds username / password pairs).
What I'd like to do is provide a page that, after authentication, advises the user that the application is unavailable if the database can't be contacted. Currently, a successful login redirects to a JSF "welcome" page, but I'm wondering if I can somehow redirect if there's no connection to Oracle RDBMS.

did you have a look at SRDemo on how to handle the missing database connection. In this demo we show a message in the welcome page. In your case you would use the FacesContext to set the viewId to the viewId of your global unavailability page

"Application not available" page

We have a need to display an "application not available" page when a person navigates to the site outside the normal hours of operations.
One way to do this is to have the index.html route to a JSF page which checks the time, then either redirects to the application, or if outside of operating hours displays the "not available" message.
Is there a way that this can be solved with the faces-config.xml file? I would like to move this logic out of the page.

Error importing new version of our app "Application not available for edit"

Hi,
We are trying to import an app and get the error: Application not available for edit
thats it on a clean white background - Application not available for edit shows up at the top left corner of the screen.
Any clues?
We tried a new id, tried a custom id.
Then we tried deleting the existing app so we could insert the new app.
We can't delete either.
Help!

I'm going to hijack this thread and ask a follow up question to Scott (or whoever reads this).
When we export our application out of DEV it gets exported as Run + Build. When I have the DBA import into test or production on the Import screen I have them set it to Run Only and Reuse the Application ID. After installing it just forwards you to the same white screen with the "Application not available for edit" message on it. Now I understand the actual message since its Run Only, but its not clear that the import actually worked correctly or not.
So although it does seem to import correctly, they always get nervous when they see this that it didnt import correctly. So is it better to have them import as Run + Build and then go change the build status through the admin front end rather than the way I'm doing it now?

User defined Applications not available

Dear gurus,
I'm new to BPC for MS, and my problem is that I have created new applications (copy of existing ones and some modifications) within a new set of applications.
When I try to select one of this new applications on BPC for Excel, they are not available for me, after I select my set of applications.
Do I need to do something after create this applications? I just followed SAP configuration guide "Business Planning and Consolidation - Administration", and the result was applications not available.

Go to Member access profile under security.Here you will see your newly created Application.Selection this application and assign
it to users and groups.Now go to connection wizard.In drop down box for Application you will be able to see your application.Login using this application.

"Application not available" for every application ...

I'm hoping this is an easy one...
I have a Lumia 710 with the latest software. I reinstalled the OS on my laptop, and reinstalled Zune. I connected my Lumia and change the sync partnership type from Guest and everything looked OK.
Since then, when I connect to the App Marketplace and irrespective of what application I select, I get the message "Application not available. This might be because your phone software needs to be updated..." message.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

If you go to Microsoft store on your PC and you sign in with your Microsoft account you should be able to select apps and install them to the phone without the need of Zune. If this works and you can also install apps directly on your phone I'd contact Microsoft Store Support for further assistance.

while trying to configure the 9i db on grid control I installed the statspack data while configuring it. But now when I try to see the historical data as part of the performace tab for the 9i db it complains as below
Data Not Available. Statspack data is not available for this database instance. Make sure that Statspack is installed on the target instance.
Please shed some of your inputs.

Applications not available

I am searching for several apps via my phone app world but the search result does not display them.Yet when i search via a PC on App world (not via the phone) the apps are there?
I then send the link to my phone to try and install the apps but get the message "application not available on your device or for your carrier". The phone is less than 1week old. surely the app search should bring up all apps on App world and where the app states available for for all devices and all carriers it should work?
my carrier says it's not the phone and it's because its new - can someone clarify this as correct or should i just request a new phone?

Well here are a few options.
Torch has 360 x 480, 9700 has 480 x 360 pixels, 8900 has 480 x 360 pixels, 9000 has 480 x 320 pixels.
I wouldnt recommend an iPhone (I deal with them all day) unless you jailbreak it.

Importing CD's, shows as 'Not Available'

This problem has plagued me for around a month or so now, and my mrs is driving me nuts moaning she cant upload her new cd's.
I've tried, read all the 'fixes', performed installs etc.
I've run a diagnositcs check and pasted it here, if anyone can see where its all gone wrong, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just to sumarise, i put in audio CD, iTunes asks to rip it, click ok, it rips some song normally, then just whips through em all really fast. Once it says its 'finished' i check in the music folder and the songs are there, wont play, shows not available in song length section

Crikey ... that's a brand and model name I'd never seen before.
Do XFX have a support site with downloads and drivers for your/her model of PC? Checking, because there's newer LG firmware available for the GH22LS50 (rev TL03), but if the PC manufacturer provides their own tweaked versions of firmware and drivers and whatnot, it's best to get that firmware rather than going to (in this case) LG and getting the firmware they supply for the drive.

I am trying to install the "Java Runtime Environment" plugin. It is continuously showing as not available. What can I do to get round this?

I am asked to install this update by an educational website.
The sequence of events is:
1. Message appears at interactive site on page "A plugin is needed to display this content." along with an Install Plugin button.
2.Pressing the install button brings up a dialogue box, "Plugin Finder Service" with "Java Runtime Environment" ticked.
3. I press "Next" to install. New dialogue box comes up showing "Java Runtime Environment" as "Not available" and states that no plugins were installed.
4. The only availablre option "finish," closes the dialogue box.
I have tried following instructions in help but these always bring me back to the same process. I have downloaded the most recent Java software and nothing has changed.
Any ideas to successfully install "Java Runtime Environment." Maybe there's a successor plug-in.
All help gratefully received.

If you can not then try the manual way from the next link : https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp (select the Windows Offline, filesize: 28.0 MB). In.... general, try to use the official sites when you install Java or flash etc.

Applications not available to sync

I have about 50 applications which I bought in the AppStore - some using iTunes and some using the iPhone's AppStore. I see all of them in my Library under the applications link. But when I connect my iphone, it shows up in iTunes but in the applications TAB only 15 or so are available to sync up. Why are all the applications not showing up in the application tab of the iphone ?
Any ideas ??

Source application not available - Acrobat 7.0 Pro after reader 9 update

I updated reader to 9.0 and now my Pro 7.0 is showing "installaion source for this product is not available" . It shows this when I try to open the program, uninstall, reinstall with cd. Help.

With Acrobat 7.x you ought to be able to have Adobe Reader 7.x.

There is likely something in the inner swirl of dancing "1's" & "0's" that will cause a stumble.
Either it's happened and I've not noticed or I've not yet encountered it. A and a knock on the wood between my ears .
At one time, for a specific task, I had Acrobat 5.x "Full" and Acrobat 7.x Pro on a laptop.
While I was able to accomplish the specific tasks needed, I noted that integration with the installed Office suite took a hit.
You may want to obtain the Windows cleanup uninstaller.
It has been referenced here in other posts.
You may need to use it.

Why are certains applications not available in South African App Store?

Why are certain applications such as Google Earth, Google Mobile App, and most games not available in the South African App Store.
We speak English so localisation should not be a problem.
I'm sure there are no legal reasons why these applications are not available here, as we have desktop equivalents for most of them.
Why does South Africa have to have a diminished iPhone experience?

No idea.
You would have to ask Apple and/or the company that makes the app and/or - most likely - the Government of your country.
I'm sure Apple and the app developer would love to sell more apps.

I developed an application using VB.NET 2003 and Oracle 10g backend. When I start my machine and work on my application, everything works fine for two to three times execution. After some time when I execute my application it gives different errors every time. Sometimes:

sometimes, TNS Listner cannot listen to ....
sometimes, Oracle Initialization or Shut Down in progress.

if 10g then first set ORACLE_SID and connect with sysdba user WITHOUT "TNS_ENTRY"
conn sys as sysdba
passwordsometimes, Oracle Initialization or Shut Down in progress.
shutdown in progress ... you have to wait for complete shutdown.
you can check status of database through connect with sysdba privs.
select STATUS from v$instance;Why?
