Showcase for user-customizable slideshow

Dear forum,
Some time ago I saw a professional business presentation from EA Sports. Before the slideshow started the presenter customized the slideshow (live) and added several chapters (introduction, history etc.) through single klicks on the front page.  The presentation was calculated and could start after short time.
It consisted of flash animation, video, fotos, some texts, charts etc. As far as I know the charts were feed thorugh an xml-file and that is why they were up-to-date w/o the need of aditional programming.
Let  me say that I have very few knowledge on how Adobe works. Can you  please tell me if this EA Sports presentation could have been programmed  with any Adobe programme?. Unfortunately, EA Sports cannot provide the presentation  as a copy. Do you have some showcases in your mind (showing the steps of customizing the slideshow) or could at least name some agencies that are able to provide help?
Other characteristics of the slideshow: printable pdf-version, no additional hardware necessary (easy-to-go on  an USB-drive), interactive links with social media sites (like updates  of the slideshow being sent to twitter - not a must!!!), jump from slide to slide through mouse klicks...
I am not a big fan of MS PowerPoint and want to find a new, time-saving way for the preparation of modern, innovative slideshows for my company. Really hope you can help with my query.
Aschen Puttel

Thanks a lot Mike!
Can you name any source or provide a presentation as an example where I can see the user-customizable adaptation/setting for the slideshow? I mean, where to see how the klicks are done and the presentation is "calculated"/starts. I want to use this and show this to my boss.
Next step would be to find an agency/programmer with whom we can make the system specifications/ duties record book.

    Hi Wayne,
You can only save runtime customizations to the repository for the users present in jazn-data.xml file (If you are using file based security).
You will have to do the following before you can start saving user customizations:
    1. Create Webcenter Template project.
    2. Apply ADF Security
    3. Use page-definition files for jspx pages.
After this, whatever customizations you do, will be saved to persistence storage.
Better would be to try this on server. Since, before deploying, you run the pre-deployment tool, which will take the MDS Repository path as an input and store all persistence storage there.
If there is nothing in that location, you can be sure something is wrong and debug it.
    Hope that was helpful.

  • How to make default personalization options for users

    Hi all,
How can I make default personalization options for users, so that those will the default options when the user opens the portal BSP applications. Those will be the standard, at later point of time if they want they can personlalize some other fields, but earlier fields will be the default fields and user cant be able to change them.
    Thanks
    Murthy

    Hi Murthy,
If you use IMG (crmc_blueprint_c) to customize PCUI appl than you can use the personalization feature. If you select 'Not in List' in the IMG for the field in the fieldgroup structure, than this field by default will not be viewable in the List View and will not be checked as 'Visible' in the Personilzation link. So by not selecting 'Not in List' you are giving that field to be viewable and all other fields are available for users to personalize by default.
If you have maintained the 'List View' using the CRM Designer, than most likely you would lose the above feature, as SAP Standard code considers the CRM Designer as high level of customization.
    Thanks

  • Jdev11 Tab selection and Enable User Customization on Session bug.

When you have enabled User Customization for duration of session then what ever user changes on a page it remains the same through out the session,
ie. Disclosed panel boxes, advanced query criteria, visible columns of tables in panel collections etc.
The problem is that you cant customize which properties to be kept or not :
    ++Fusion Developer's Guide for Oracle ADF & 34.3 Configuring User Customizations:++
++Note+: If you've enabled just session persistence, then all attribute values shown in Table 34-1 will be persisted to the session.+
There is no way to override this either globally or on an instance.
The bigger problem is that if you have some business logic about these components appearance or behavior you can’t override user settings.
    Is this a bug?
Shouldn’t business logic methods override user customization settings?
Will User Customization for duration of session become configurable?
    details :[http://adfbugs.blogspot.com/2009/09/tab-selection-and-enable-user.html]

    Hi,
    Is this a bug?
Don't think so. I assume your business logic is dependent on the disclosure state, which usually is reset after each navigation off and on to a page. Using change persistence you explicitly allow the user to keep the changes. So your business logic cannot rely on a changed state.
The proposed enhancement request to prevent components from perisisting changes sound fair. I'll file one.
But it isn't that you can't override the persisted information for a component. You can use teh ChangeManager API that is exposed on the ADFFacesContext to override persistence information
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15051_01/apirefs.1111/e10684/oracle/adf/view/rich/change/ChangeManager.html
For example, using a change disclosure event:
      boolean isDisclosed = < whatever you like to set >;
//Record a Change for 'disclosed' attribute
      AttributeComponentChange aa =
      new AttributeComponentChange('disclosed', isDisclosed ? Boolean.TRUE : Boolean.FALSE);
      AdfFacesContext adfContext = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
//set disclosed state to component. Here you override the user choice
      adfContext.getChangeManager().addComponentChange(getFacesContext(), event.getSource(), aa);Frank

  • Creating SMB shares for users

    Hello,
I am the sole IT person at a Highschool of about 500+ kids.  We just bought a new mac mini server with a pegasus 12tb add on.  We always used mac but the students data has been stores locally on computers.  We would like to keep their accounts stored locally on a computer but give each student ~10gb of data in their own personal share that only they and administration can access.  Is there a setting in workgroup manager for this?  Obviously creating individual folders and configuring permisisions is not an option.  Of couse this would be over smb so that the very few pc's we have could also access these shares in a pinch.  Any ideas?  I thought for sure this was possible via mac server.
    Thanks for the help,
    Lloyd

So essentially you were storing data locally and are looking to migrate that data to your raid/storage and give them access to that storage or start new/fresh with access for them to their own directories on the raid/storage if I'm reading this correctly? I'm confused when you state:
Obviously creating individual folders and configuring permisisions is not an option.
Essentially what I am assuming you could do, taking you are not binding into the mini server, is create network accounts (need to enable/configure Open Directory prior), or in your sitation even create local accounts via Server. OSX will by default create them a user folder on the Server HD, you can also create your own custom share(s) and enable those as home folders independantly for each user, again it depends upon your configuration(s) and growth plan(s). I believe the users directories have afp and smb enabled by default. You can then drill down into the user directories permissions via Server in Storage and customize permissions as needed for your situation (ie. user r/w admin(group etc) r/w everyone and others no access etc). I know I've read that Apple is doing away completely with AFP and migrating to SMB2 with Mavericks, though I have not "seen" this, not sure if it's already happening in the background and they are allowing AFP for legacy currently or what. I also know in previous versions of Server (10.6)  you could more granularly enable/disable SMB access for user accounts as well so you could allow the protocol on various shares and also the protocol itself on specific user accounts. I don't see that in 3.1.1 (if anyone knows if this exists any more or has been removed that would be great). I do believe if you are creating local accounts, you will then be able to turn SMB on/off for that user via the System Preferences > Sharing > File Sharing > Options button.
Once this is all established you can then authenticate via Windows with the proper UNC path ie. \\myserver-1\Users\usera and authenticate as usera. Anyway hope this helps, think it shoud give you some direction or answer(s)?

  • Forgot password for users for whom challenge questions are not set

    Hi,
I have a scenario here where initially the environment property for force setting challenge questions during first login was not set to true.
But it has been set to true later. But for users created prior setting this property to true, the forgot password link is taking to a page to answer challenge questions which obviously is not working.
Is there anyway to handle this scenario without doing ADF customization? For example say, to force all previous users also to set challenge questions for whom the challenge questions are not set.

Hi, In your scenario, since user has forgotten his/her password and he has not set his answers to questions, so the only option left is calling Help Desk. Help desk guys should educate end users that go to OIM->My Information -> Set Security Questions. This is the only easy way I can think of.

  • Personalization for user

At the design time i have a panel box that contains 3 <af:goLink> components
At the runtime the user should be able to personalize this panel box where he can
    1. Add new links
    2. remove
    3. Reorder
This changes should be specific to that user only.
Is there any inbuilt task flow where we can achieve this functionality ?
Since the user does not have customization permission the page should not be in Edit if he presses ctrl+sht+E
So if i need some personalized button and on clicking that button i need to show a pop up where i can add , delete and order the links.
and finally i need to save this state in MDS layer.
How can this be achieved within quick time? Please advise.
    Thanks and Regards,

Thanks Bijesh, This information is really very useful.
By following the steps that Andrejus have given in the blog, we could implement the automatic persistence available through ADF Faces. But in order to add/edit/delete the links from a layout and storing this information for each user in MDS (without the edit layout), whether we need any custom class implementation with some APIs to store the values in MDS?
Please find the below information that we got from the oracle sites.
Along with the automatic persistence available through ADF Faces, you can create your own custom user customization capabilities for the following types of changes:
    •     Changing an attribute value
    •     Adding or removing a facet
    •     Adding or removing a child component
    •     Reordering child components
    •     Moving a child component to a different parent
If you want to create these types of custom user customizations, you need to add code (for example, in an event handler) that will call the APIs to handle the persistence.
Can you please advise how this can be implemented? Is there any out of box features available in Web Center rather than this?
    Thanks again,
    Vishnu

  • Critical: Personal Time Zone not showing up for users

    Hi Experts,
There's a issue that we are facing regarding time zones for users. Even  after maintaining Personal time zones of users in there SU01, users are not able to see data in the system as per there local time zone. It is still showing in the default time zone. Is there paramter that is to be maintained for putting personal time zone into effect.
    Regards
    Rasheed

    Hi Rasheed,
Usually when Timezone customizations are performed, the display is only converted on the screen for the end user. The actual data in DB still refers to System time zone... This conversion (Display) is supported for only a few objects like Notifications, confirmations and orders... Usually objects like change documents, logs, archived data and workcenter data does not have this conversion functionality...
In this case, i dont think we have timestamp in MB51 as its only posting dates that get logged... You can consider posting a query in MM forum to get answers on customizations but from a security standpoint i dont think we have any way to attain this requirement....

  • User customization – such as column reordering in tables – persistence

User customization – such as column reordering in tables is appearing other user sessions , is thee a way to stop it ?
For eg some user has re-ordered the columns in table or selected a Tab , i am getting the same changes on my session. is there way to stop it
Th javax.faces.STATE_SAVING_METHOD is client in web.xml

    Hi,
this should not happen. Please file a bug and provide a test case. User sessions are separate and the Trinidad change persistence doesn't write to the application scope. You can try switching from session to per application saving in which case MDS will be used. Just out of interest, which JDeveloper version do you use?

guys pls give some clue...thanks in advance!

    Hi John,
a lot of thanks for your valuable help on this forum.
if u see first pass state options, it gives only two options(promote, approve) but for other states it give >2 options so they must have put some condition on first pass state by restricting it to two options only.
do u have any idea in which table this condition has been put so that i can restrict it further to 1 option only.
    thanks.

  • "Search for User" display no user

    Hi,
I'm testing the Early access release of the SVDI.
I discovered a problem connecting to our OpenLDAP-Directory. The directory is configured with correct values for host, port, Base DN, User DN and password. The setup wizard finished without errors. But the search function on the "Users -> Users and Groups" tab returns no users.
This might be an issue with the structure of our openldap-tree, so I digg a little deeper. :-)
Our ldap tree looks like this:
    / ou=department,o=organization,c=de
    |--- ou=Users
    |--- ou=Groups
    |--- ou=Computers
When I look at the logfiles of openldap, I recognize a ldap query with
    'filter=&(&(|(?objectClass=user)(objectClass=person)(objectClass=inetOrgPerson)(objectClass=organizationalPerson))(!(?objectClass=computer)))(|(cn=*demo*)(uid=*demo*)(mail=*demo*)))'
This query doesn't return any entries.
While playing around with ldapserach I removed the '(!(?objectClass=computer))' part and the query works.
Removing this part from /etc/cacao/instances/default/modules/com.sun.vda.Service_Module.xml and restarting cacao makes me happy. :-)
What are the requirements for a supported ldap structure? I know that only active directory and Sun directory server are supported, but changing the directory service is not a 'near-time' option for me.
Currently we are using SUN VDI 2.0 and all (my) missing features are in 3.0. :-)
    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
    you did the right thing.
OpenLDAP doesn't seem to support LDAP queries about object classes it doesn't know.
This is impossible to have generic LDAP queries that are supported by every type of LDAP directory, and we know it is out of the question for customers to change their LDAP schema. That's why we made the LDAP filters and LDAP attributes, used by VDI, editable, so that customers can customize them to match their LDAP directory requirements.
The default filters would work OK for quick demos with Active Directory and Sun DS, but for production deployment, it would still be recommended to adapt the filter to match most closely the schema of the directory and to put less strain on the LDAP directory. This will be documented with our official release.
In Active Directory, computer objects have objectclass=user and objectclass=computer, so the (!(objectclass=computer)) part is there to avoid that computer objects are returned in a search for users and groups. But it is useless for the other type of directories that don't have such a specificity.
FYI, here is how VDI performs the search for users and groups:
The filter used by the web-GUI to search for users is: (&<ldap.user.object.filter><ldap.user.search.filter>)) and then the $SEARCH_STRING placeholder is replaced by \*criteria\* where criteria is the string you type in the web-GUI search field.
Same applies for groups, using the group filters.
We search first for users and then for groups.

    Katell
