Shutdown Teststand 3.1 Engine Hangs

I am using TestStand 3.1 engine in combination with Labview 7.1. Everything works fine until I run a sequence file. After this run the logout/login and the shutdown do not work anymore. The complete engine hangs. When I look at the description of the shutdown method it says;
<QUOTE> Closes opened sequence files and executions. This method also releases the TestStand Engine. <UNQUOTE>

  • Is it possible to shutdown TestStand LabWindows/CVI operator interface programmatically?

    Hi,
    Like the title says, I'm trying to find a way to shutdown TestStand operator interface automatically after sequence execution is completed.
    Any suggestion is appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Thank you for your reply.
    I did a loop but it wouldn't work :s
    I managed to create an ActiveX button to exit test stand.
    I found an example within the TestStand Course I and II.
    static void ExitApplication(void)
     VBOOL canExitNow;
     TSUI_ApplicationMgrShutdown (AppManagerHandle, &errorInfo,&canExitNow);
     if (canExitNow)
      QuitUserInterface(0);
    // the ApplicationMgr control sends this event when it is ok to exit the application.
    HRESULT CVICALLBACK ApplicationMgr_OnExitApplication(CAObjHandle caServerObjHandle, void *caCallbackData)
     ExitApplication();
     return S_OK;
    void CreateTSEngineHandle ()
     GetObjHandleFromActiveXCtrl  (panelHandle, PANEL_APPLICATIONMGR,&AppManagerHandle);
     GetObjHandleFromActiveXCtrl  (panelHandle, PANEL_EXIT,    &AppExit   );
     TSUI__ApplicationMgrEventsRegOnExitApplication (AppManagerHandle, ApplicationMgr_OnExitApplication, NULL, 1, NULL);
     TSUI_ApplicationMgrConnectCommand (AppManagerHandle, &errorInfo, AppExit, TSUIConst_CommandKind_Exit, 0,
                TSUIConst_CommandConnection_NoOptions, NULL);
     TSUI_ApplicationMgrGetEngine (AppManagerHandle, &errorInfo,&EngineHandle);
     TSUI_ApplicationMgrStart     (AppManagerHandle, &errorInfo);
     TS_EngineGetGlobals(EngineHandle,NULL,&Globals);
    This way I click my QuitButton and it calls the the ActiveXExitButton witch calls the ExitApplication function.
    The ApplicationMgr control sends ApplicationMgr_OnExitApplication event when it is ok to exit the application.
    Hope this was clear enough and I hope this may be helpfull for someone else.
    I apreaciate all the help.

  • TestStand 2.0 Engine deleting sequence files on shutdown?

    TestStand 2.0.1
    We're running into quite a bizaar problem where TestStand sequence files seem to vanish from the filesystem after exiting TestStand. We haven't been able to reliably reproduce the problem, but occasionally after we run some tests either using the operator interface or sequence editor, either the sequence file we were running, or another sequence file in that same directory gets deleted. Has anyone else seen anything like this?
    --Peter

    That sounds like a very unique issue. I have a few questions for you.
    Is it only one sequence file that gets deleted? If the sequence file you are running does not get deleted, but another one does, is it always the same files every time that gets deleted?
    If we can get this nailed down to a pattern, we can probably figure out
    what is causing this issue. One other thing that would be worthwhile
    checking out is if this problem is limited to just one computer or
    multiple computers. Is your testing station limited to just the one
    computer? If not, does this problem happen on multiple machines?
    Another thing you might want to try is to put each sequence file in a different directory. If you have the sequence files in different directories, does the problem still occur?

  • J2EE engine hangs on status Starting Apps

    Hi All
    We are currently experiencing issues with our J2EE engine.  When we start it, it goes up to the status Starting Apps and never leaves that status.  There are no errors on any of the logs/traces under work directory or the server0/log directory.
    We are running EP 700 with Kernel Patch 146 on windows 2003 server.  If anyone has seen this type of issue, please advice.
    I have attached a java dump from std-server0.out file. I hope that helps

    Whenever there is a hang or slow performance situation in j2ee engine, one needs to take a few threaddumps on the server and dispatcher processes. In case of 'Startng applications' hang situation, take 5 threaddumps at an interval of 1 minute each. The threaddumps are directed to std_Server0.out file. Please open this file with the Angel's threaddump viewer (SAP Note 1044373, 1020246). You could check for the blocked threads (which hang the engine), runnable threads in the same state over the course of theaddudmp (making system slow), the no. of free application threads - if 0, it means the engine has run out of applicaiton threads. Configure MaxThreadCount of ApplicationThreadMananger for server to 250+ (mostly required by most of the applications, some XI apps need over 350).
    Last but not the least, one should also check garbage collection logs. Multiple back to back GCs could slow down the system. In this case, check if the JVM parameters are maintained as per note 723909.
    If you are seeing high CPU usage on the system during the hang/slow performance, refer to note 742395.
    Hope the above helps.

  • Issue with TestStand 2010 or 2012 hanging on the first step after continuously running TestStand?

    I am having issues with a CVI test sequence hanging in TestStand 2010 & 2012.  Currently, the only way to resolve this is to exit/close TestStand.  Following this we must replace the entire project with a backup project.  This only occurs about once a day or so with the sequence running continuously.  It will hang on the first or second step in the sequence, usually the first step.  The project uses several continuous XINET CAN messaging, so I wonder if this could be related to that.

    Yes, I have. It hangs at the first statement in the code after all the variable defines.  It does seem to be related to any particular statement, as we had skipped that test step, and then it hangs on the next step at the first statement.

  • Graceful Shutdown of a Content Engine (CE510, CE565)

    May I come back to y.lo's message from January this year. He asked for a shutdown or halt command for CEs.
    There is a possibility to shutdown the NM-CE-BP (network module) with the service-module command form the IOS. There must be something similar in ACNS! In the manuals there is quite often a referenc to "orderly shutdown" or "gracefully shutdown", but I couldn't find the appropriate command anywhere near these references.
    Thanks.

    Its not exactly graceful but I've always done a reload with the console plugged in, then when the BIOS messages come up for accessing the flash (before the disk scan), I power it off. The theory is the disks have been cleanly shutdown and the linux subsystem will flushed the filesystems and the content engine isn't actually running. If there is a command I'd like to know it as well.
    regards
    Mark

  • TestStand Run-time Engine Deployment

    Hi,
    For the latest TestStand version, is there a way to use the base deployment version without having to enter a license number?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
    The above poster is correct in that you must purchase a base deployment license, however if you have a Volume License Agreement and are using Volume Licensing you may point the machine to the license server so you will not have to enter a number on the client, it will be handled on the server side.
    Is this something you might be interested in?
    Here is a KnowledgeBase article describing TestStand Licensing.

  • Application Engine hangs

    Hi
    I find that for some reason only programs of type Application Engine are going into queued status.
    All the other programs are running fine.
    The Process scheduler processes application engine programs only after cancelling all application engine programs in queued status
    Can you please let me know what possible causes could be attributed to this behaviour

    Cyril
    As Nick told, find for earlier AE's that are in error/delete and clean them up from Prcs monitor. then,
    *Option1
    Reconfigure the prcs scheduler, clear cache and restart back. Check the last one that is in Queued. If it picks UP then let the backlog clears until u trigger a new one.
    *Option2
    Reconfigure the Prcs Scheduler by selecting 'n' to disable the PSAESRV's, then clear cache and start back.
    IN either case you can try increase the logfence in psprcs.cfg so that it gives detailed info in the logs. btw Wat is the Max concurrency set on AE's? is the issue on both NT/UNX?? (or) Just one of them?

  • Cache Engine hangs after 3-4 hours of normal operation

    The Cache Engines is caching for about 3-4 hours, and then it stops. Eventually, the cache is bypassed due to overload.This also happens everytime after the Cache Engine being reloaded.

    This is a generic TCP/IP routing issue that significantly impacts the Internet Caches, as they open connections to huge numbers of hosts in the public internet. The problem happens if the cache is placed within the same IP subnet as the outbound internet router, but it is configured not to use it as a default gateway for some reason. To check if this is the cause, try to issue "sh ip route" command on the cache after some minutes of operation. If there are seen routes that were not configured, they are learned from ICMP redirect packets. Those routes are created for every host separately and
    after a while the device spends all CPU time looking up the routing table before any packet can be sent out.
    Solution:
    If this happened by misconfiguration of default gateway,the solution is to apply correct configuration on the cache.
    There might be a design requirement for this, if some Internet/Internal sites are reachable via different routers in the segment or a dynamic routing protocol is used to determine the routes. The best solution for this case is to change the network design so the cache appears on a separate subnet. In a case a L3-switch is used it can be done
    by BVI reconfiguration. In some situations there might be appropriate to disable sending
    the ICMP redirect packets by configuring "no ip redirects" at the interface of router used as default gateway by the cache. This generally causes less efficient usage on the local network, so it should be considered carefully.

  • ACS Engine Hanging / Replication Problems

    I have two ACS 1112 Appliances running the latest software (Release 4.0(1) Build 42). Each appliance seems to run fine on its own. However, after setting up and successfully performing replication, the second ACS will not fully reboot. It says CSAuth did not start. 'show' usually shows the cpu at 100% with the services in various states of stopped, stopping, or starting. The web interface is unavailable. Another thing I have noticed that I think may have something to do with it is the status of the remote agents in the network device table. After replication, (and before rebooting) I can click on one successfully on the original machine, but when I attempt to click on one on the second appliance, I get a 404 browser error, and my ACS session is closed. I have to log back in to do anything else. Right now, I am rebuilding the second appliance from the cd (for the 15th time) to attempt replication with no remote agents defined to make narrow down the problem. Also note that if I manually add a remote agent on the second appliance, I am able to get to its properties with not problems. I am only not able to get to replicated entries' properties. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Well, forget about the remote agents. The primary appliance has a very basic config. The only things in the network device table are itself and the other ACS. They each have the correct settings and the same key. The backup ACS has no configuration settings, except the ACS settings in the network device table and the appropriate replication settings. After a successful replication from primary to backup, and a reboot of the backup--it will not start back up. The CPU is at 100% and the services look like this:
    CSAdmin stopped
    CSAuth starting
    CSDbSync starting
    CSLog stopping
    CSMon starting
    CSRadius starting
    CSTacacs starting
    CSAgent running
    thanks.

  • Variable engine write hangs

    I am using the shared variable engine to bind shared variables to an OPC server (DSC/Labview 8.5)
    When using read only variables, all works OK
    When using a read/write variable (specified either R/W or W only in the shared variable definition), the shared variable engine hangs, and needs to be stopped and restarted for the program to work again. If the engine is not stopped and restarted, I basically get a shared variable is not located error (same as if I stopped the service manually)
    I have tried synchronous or asynch writing as per the OPC Client I/O Server Advanced tab definitions (as well as In or Out of process).
    Any idea why writes would be failing, but reads are working OK

    a timed loop fires say every 1 sec, so I may have up to 1 sec latency between the clicking of a switch, an the action required.
    If I set the loop interval to less than 500 ms, then I get long delays between the writing to the variable, and when it actually occurs. Even shorter times, I may never see the change in the variable.
    I don't need fast updates, I just need them to start occurring without a delay when the event happens. In addition, if possible to have some way to allow the next setting of the variable to happen when the first one is finished.
    In effect the sequence required is
    1) Write to the variable
    2) dissallow any further writes to the variable
    3) check if the variable state has changed to that expected, and reallow variable write access
    4) have a safety check, so if the write does not happen after a given time, time out, and reallow variable writes

  • Lion 10.7 shutdown hangs

    Is anyone else having shutdown problems with Lion. My IMac looks like its going to shutdown correctly but then just hangs. The ony way to shut it down is to press the power key until it switches off. I have tried closing down all apps before shutdown, but it seem to make no difference.

    While I understand the frustration of things not working properly, you seem to be grasping at straws in trying to aportion blame.
    NextCoves wrote:

    On the contrary. If it were known that there was a bug in 10.7.3 after it was released, the fix is to upgrade to 10.7.4.
    NextCoves wrote:

    You have yourself said the problem was with the disk. So it's a hardware fault, not a software fault. Why would they say the software has a problem when the issue is to do with hardware?
    TBH, if it's not a hardware fault, its a software conflict with something you've intstalled. I did beta testing of Lion 10.7.1 and 10.7.2 (admittedly not .3) and all these kinds of issues boiled down to conflicts with third party vendor s/w, probably in your login items, launchagents or launchdaemons folders.

  • Shutdown hang if a mounted cifs filesystem is not responding

    I sometimes mount a filesystem over CIFS (quite often a virtual machine). Sometimes I shutdown the virtual (or physical) machine forgetting to unmount the cifs folder. In this situation if I try to shutdown the linux machine, it hangs trying to unmount filesystem, forcing me to do an unclean shutdown (via hardware of the Ctr-Alt-Syst-O key). I suppose the same behaviour will happen if for whatever reason the CIFS server is not responding, so the ability to cleanly shutdfown the machine depends on the fact of having a reliable internet connection and the remote server responding properly. Is there not a possibility to force unmounting an unresponding cifs server? If yes, should it not be a good idea to include it in the archlinux shutdown script.

    We already do this in the netfs rc.d script.

  • Utility to switch TestStand runtime engines

    The development version of TestStand 2.0 comes with a version switch utility to change versions of TestStand between TestStand 1.x and TestStand 2.x. If a machine only has runtime engines installed, is there a utility to switch runtime engines between TestStand 1.x and 2.x?

    The problem now is that the run-time installer will not allow a different TestStand run-time engine to be installed on the target machine since it already has a TestStand run-time engine. Unlike the full development installer, the run-time installer will not allow the TestStand directory to be changed so that more than one version of the run-time engine can be used. So, the version switch utility cannot be used unless there is a way to have two different TestStand run-time engines on the same machine (without any TestStand development software installed). Is there any way to get around this ? Am I misunderstanding something here ?
