Shutting off phone while keeping Iphone running

I may sound crazy, but there are times when i want to keep the unit running, like when using the GPS while riding, or playing angry birds, but I don't want the darn phone to ring as it always interrupts what ever I'm doing... is there a way to get the phone system to shut down or at least auto send all calls to the answering service so I don't get annoyed constantly?

still interrupts the GPS or game or what ever.
***** having Angry birds stop in the middle
and although most of the GPS software now will restart automatically but will give you errors in the reading it out puts as the time it's displaying the caller ID, and ringing silently and such if riding a bike you have traveled a few hundred feet at least. sounds minor but when it happens 5-10 times a ride it adds up to a pretty major alteration of the reading.

When I tried to redownload it from the app store it either said open or if i kept tapping it would change to install and just stay like that, not responding. How do I get the app back? Still on the original ios 7

        Hi there jaugusti!
I am incredibly sorry to learn that your phone is having quite the difficulty! This is definitely not the intent of a software update. I truly appreciate the troubleshooting you've completed already.
I just want to confirm that you've completed this Factory Reset: http://vz.to/1a6pMrT as mentioned. Please review all steps just in case!
Once this is/was completed, what happens when you try to open the "People" application? Do you get an error message there as well? Did you sign in to your Google/Gmail account?
    Keep me posted.
    Thanks!

  • Iphone 5 ios7 shuts off randomly while charging, surfing the net, on lockscreen

I had the same problem with my iphone 5 after updating to 7.0.4. For one month the phone was doing well than the symptoms started. First the phone had 60% off battery i plug it in the wall charger and after 5 minutes it turns off. I did a hard reset and the phone boot properly. Than i plug it another time and after 10 minutes i went to check and it was down again. My wall charger and usb cable are genuine. I tried with different charger and usb cable but with no results.
That i tried to charge via PC and i had sucsses. Than another day the phone had 93% of battery and using 3G on youtube the phone crashed (turn off). Then again and againg using the 3G. I kept charging the phone via PC those days because with the wall charger it shuts off, in the same time i didn't use 3G and cellular data, only wireless. The phone went fine for 2 days than it started crashing again and i had to do a hard reset every time to get it back on because the screen went black. Also on the diagnosis section it started creating panic.plist and reset counter. I searched on web for fixes and did a restore to 7.1.1 puting the phone on DFU mode. The phone got worse after the update, it started crashing every 5 minutes, with 3G, celluar data, wireless ON or OFF it didn't matter anymore. It started a new symptom with the battery full or half or any time i pushed the sleep/wake button after 1 minute the phone turned off, every single time and i had to do hard reset. Than for one day what i did was letting the iphone with the screen always on and with no nano sim in. I let it drain than i recharged full via PC and put another nano sim card. Since than the phone was fully functional, never crashes or turn off, i started charging it again with my old wall charger and usb cable. I think the problem was with the sim socket, plus old sim was macro and before puting it to the iphone when i first get it, i cutted the macro sim with scissors to make it nano to fit in the phone, and i pushed it hard the slot to feet perfectly.

  • Camera shutting off phone

    Hello,
Recently, everytime i take more than 2 pictures on my blackberry curve 9360, the phone will shut off & in order for me to get it to turn back on, i must remove the battery. Does anybody know what i can do ?

Yes I'm having the same problems. Taking pictures, then only seeing faint squares on the camera roll, with not pictures. When trying to raise photo, camera goes back to setting. This is my 4th Iphone, first one I purchased, took 100 pictures and downloaded them on a Dell Laptop, then faint squares on Camera roll showed up, taking it back to an Apple store in Louisville, Ky, getting a new phone, doing the same thing to a second party, another 100 photos, downloaded them, and again no pics, just empty squares, then I sent it to Apple, got a loaner service phone, and loaner phone wouldn't take pictures either, got a brand new phone from Apple service, invoice saying "replaced with new unit", and it again would not take pictures. 4 phones, and two service phones, and the last one a brand new phone from Apple service direct to my ole Indiana home, and still it doens't take and then store pictures, does just what the other phones have done, nothing different, still doesn't work, still doesn't take pictures, still not I wanted, and I'm going to keep trying. Let me hear from any one who has the same problem, or anyone who might have an answer, Joe

  • Turn off phone calls, keep text capability on.

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn off phone calls, but keep your text messaging capability on? We are travelling internationally and texting is a lot cheaper.

Texting is a portion of the cellular service, and I am not aware of a way to remove one without the other. While you can turn off texting, if you were to turn off cellular service, then texting would be turned off as well. You can turn off cellular data and roaming, and that would turn the cellular off, but then you could still use iMessage via Wi-fi, however if any of your friends are non-iPhone users, you would not be able to get messages from them.

  • Can I turn off sound while keeping incoming mail banner for iPhone4S?

I want to turn off alert sound when I receive incoming mail. I woke up in the middle of the night last becuse of the alert!
However, I enjoying receiving banner messages on my main screen when I receive new mail messages. Can I turn off the sound while keeping the alert messages? Thank you!

Kinda funny... I found this article while searching for an answer to my question:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93610
At the very end of the article, it mentions the "bug" that only one app on Windows can play direct sound at a time. That's exactly the "feature" I'm looking for on the Mac. Funny how one person's bug is another's feature.

  • Is it possible to shut off 3g on the iphone 4s?

i just got the iphone 4s and i am loving it. but is there a possibility to shut off 3g and use edge instead? i think with 3g the battery dies so quick. before i had iphone 3g and there i was able to change it under general settings, network and then change it to edge. but i saw it's not there anymore and i was wondering if it is somewhere different now or not possible anymore.

3G option was only avaiable in the iPhone 4 and 3GS AT&T becuase of their network. Their network has improved to a 4G which dropped the other (lower then 3G) EV network which was actvated when shutting off 3G (making it 2G). This option for these reasons if not avaiable for the iPhone 4S or for any carrier. BUT you can shut off cellular data which shuts off 3G completly if you do not need it for picture, video messaging or anything that requires internet you can shut it off and still recieve regualr messages and calls. As well as using apps and listening to music. Siri will be shut off too unfortantly.

  • I have 2 iPhone 4S's, one is personal, one purchased by work for me. Can I use the same iTunes account to sync both phones while keeping the contacts that are synced as separate lists for personal phone and work phone, but also allow same apps for both?

I'm hoping someone out there knows if I can use 1 apple ID and 1 iTunes account to sync 2 different iPhone 4S's  - one for personal use, and one for work use. I would like to be able to sync with the same music and app's on both, but need to keep the contacts and calendars completely separate between the 2 phones since I don't want personal data on the work phone or work data on the personal phone. Can you help me figure this out?

    Yes!
Luckily, if you be very careful and pay attention to what you have selected in itunes, you can separate these things
Basically, in iTunes, there are tabs at the top for Summary, info, apps, etc..
These tabs control PER DEVICE what syncs between itunes and the device.
Therefore, you can plug iPhone 4S #1 in, and select to sync contacts with address book, then do so.  Then plug iPhone 4S #2 in, and not choose to sync with address book.  iTunes will keep these settings separate. However, in that situation for music and apps, you would check to sync both on both, in order to get all music and apps on each.
The only thing to watch out for, each computer 'user' has only one set of address book and ical, meaning that if you want to sync both phones to the computer, but dont want to mix contacts, only one phone will be able to sync contacts and/or calendars.  Basically, each category in the Info tab will only hold one device's information, so you CAN do contacts with iPhone 4S #1, and calendars with #2.

  • Touch screen not working- another way to shut off phone?

I don't know what happened- but all of a sudden my iPhone is frozen. I can get to the screen to shut the power off- but since I can't "slide" to shut it down, it's just stuck. I'm hoping a reboot will solve the problem...
Is there any other way to shut it down (without using the screen)?
I guess my only other alternative is to wait for it to run out of battery?
I have the old iPhone if it matters.
    Thanks!

    Hi smuckers,
If resetting the iPhone does not resolve the issue, try the tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1650#faq5
If the tips in the article above do not resolve the issue the iPhone may need hardware repair. Make a reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple retail store take a look at it or call AppleCare.
