Sidebar with no margin on bottom

Hi:
Problem #1:
I'm struggling to get my sidebar to stretch to the height of the window (no margin on bottom) regardless how much text is inside of it. The sidebar is inside of a div container. I used a sticky footer to get the entire div container to stretch top to bottom, but after trying a few things, realize I don't understand how to get the sidebar to do the same thing...)
Problem #2:
I put a repeating pattern inside of the sidebar. It shows up fine in local testing, but does not show up online. (And yes, I checked that the image was uploaded ;-)

I find CSS and in particular Divs terribly confusing. Seems like this should be a simple thing that dreamweaver should be able to do... Sigh.
DW is a pro-level tool.  It's only as good as the person using it.  If you're feeling overwhelmed it's b/c you don't have a working knowledge of HTML and CSS code. Learn code basics first and DW will be much easier for you to use.

  • Converting word to pdf in A4 with specific margins

    I need  all my new forms designed in Word and converted into pdf  to be in A4 size with specific sized margins top, bottom, left and right as  per Standards guidelines. Do I need to set up Acrobat to do this or will it just convert exactly from MS Word margins?  Are there preferences or properties I need to set up first for  Adobe Acrobat.

    Acrobat works with page layouts that are already fixed before it starts, it has no idea of a margin. So all the setup is in Word. Word sometimes changes layout as the PDF is made. To minmize this, choose the Adobe PDF printer before making the PDF (even if you don't directly use the printer).

    Im sorry but I figured it out now. I hate when you figure something out right after you do something extreme like signup for a profile here and post a question. Well to those who want the answer all in one shot there are 2 solutions for me.
    1. Make sure Safari is updated completely. You can check by clicking SAFARI> ABOUT SAFARI
    Safari 5.0.5 gave me this problem but the new update is 5.1.2
    2.Glims - Free ad on for Safari which enables you to view you window in COMPLETE full screen at all times, as well as maximise your window to fill all empty space (makes so you dont have to worry about accidentally clicking on your desktop which I do all the time lol). You can use this option once Glims is installed simply by clicking on
    SAFARI> Full Screen
    or
    SAFARI> Maximise Window Size
    By doing Full Screen mode you can then click on the full screen capability on the website you are on

  • How do I set Firefox 29 to always show the bookmarks sidebar with one click instead of a drop down menu?

    I've decided to just get used to Firefox 29 instead of messing with add-ons and what not to make it look like it used to but one thing that is too ingrained is a favorites/bookmarks sidebar with one click. I just don't like the drop down menu. Is there a way to set the "Bookmarks" button to show the sidebar in one click?

    I want the bookmarks sidebar button. This should be a BASIC feature available, not something I need to install an add-on for to revert to some "classic restore". Why is something so straightforward and easy to use considered "classic", and everything has to be hidden and hard to see in this new version? All the colours in the new tabs BTW are are BLUE, and they blend in with the background at the top, you can't see the tab edges - whose bright idea is this?

  • Drill down with Parent at the bottom

    Does anyone know how to set the drill function so that the new rows are inserted above the parent?  The default setting for inserting new rows always insert new rows below the parent.   By the way, I am using BPC 5.1.

    Another way is to use DEP,SELF. This gives immediate children of CV with parent at the bottom. Then if you double click on one of the children it gives you its immediate children with itself at the bottom. It allows you to drill down any hierachy and then come back up and drill down another branch.

    Where is the sidebar with Genious track recommendations in the new iTunes 11.0.1.12

    I appear to have solved at least part of my problem. In addition to running the application firewall that's accessible from System Preferences, I run ipfw via the WaterRoof frontend. I have my firewall rules carefully crafted to my needs, including open ports for iTunes sharing, Bonjour, etc., all according to Apple's documentation.
    However, I don't see anywhere that they've documented this. On disabling the ipfw firewall, I found AirPlay worked again. Further testing and examination of the logs revealed that the Mac had been denying inbound packets coming from the AirPort Express and destined for UDP port 6002. So far I can find no official documentation saying iTunes or AirPlay uses that port, but allowing it through the firewall seems to have worked. This wasn't necessary in earlier versions of iTunes, and I'm not sure why it has changed now.
    I haven't tested streaming to the iPhone yet.

    I used the sidebar with the small calendars all the time.  It was much quicker and easier to use than switching to the year format with iCal.

    The mini calendars were not included with Lion iCal, but according to Mountain Lion: Hands on with Contacts and Calendar | Macworld they will return with the release of Calendar in Mountain Lion.

  • Content not lining up in the sidebar with the content located in the main area?

    Hello, I’ve created a website using Dreamweaver CS4 and have come across an issue while using a template. The template I’m using is: 2 column fixed, right sidebar, header and footer. The problem seems to be in the sidebar where the content does not start at the top, it seems to be about 15px below the content in the main area. I can't find any CSS or any reason why it's starts where it does. It seems to look like even and as it should in Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari but not in IE9. The page is live at www.Lots2Homes.com and you'll see the content is lower in the right sidebar than in the main area to the left. The code for the home page and CSS is below. This has me going in circles, any help or ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • Problem with Printer Margins

    I am working from a Dell Optiplex 755 with Windows XP, Illustrator CS2, Acrobat 8 Pro and an HP 4345 printer.
    The problem is summarized in the below paragraphed points:
    We print on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper, with artwork sized for 8.5 x 11 exactly. The artwork contains 4 quarter page images to be cut into flyers, which each have 1/4" margins all the way around them. There is a back side as well, created with the same specifications. We wish to print these flyers duplex from high quality PDF files that we created in Illustrator.
    When the print comes out, the right hand margin of the sheet is larger than the top, bottom, and left margins.
    The top, bottom, left margins= 0.166"; this doesn't effect the top, bottom, and left sides of the artwork, as the .25" margin we setup on the artwork is greater than the .166" margin of the print area.
    However, the right hand margin= 0.306"; this means that the right side of the artwork gets cut off by .056" (.306-.25")
    In order to fit all of the artwork on the page, we can either shift the Page Tiling Print Area over slightly, or we can select the print option "Shrink to Fit". However this is a problem because we are printing the two sides as a duplex (printed both sides), and the tiled artwork on the front won't line up what is printed on the back because of the larger right margin. Therefore if the sides don't line up when we go to cut, the information is going to be cut off on the opposite side to the one we are cutting.
    The printer setting for 8.5x11" paper "Letter" is what we believe to be creating the offset margin. (We checked the specifications for a Letter print, and the standard margins were identical to the ones we see exhibited in the print outs, 0.166" vs. 0.306")
    We understand that there might be a way to set up your own custom print setting through Adobe Acrobat/ Photoshop/ Illustrator for a specfic type of print job, allowing you to control the print margins, but we are not familiar with the process.
    Can you think of any other possible causes and/or solutions for the problems that are described?

    As is detailed above, I am working with Illustrator CS2. The graphic is setup on an 8.5x11" artboard with guides set to have a 1/4" margin on all sides.
    To create the PDF file, I just do a Save As>Adobe PDF through Illustrator. So to answer your question, no, I do not have Adobe PDF selected as the printer. I have the HP 4345 printer selected and set to 'Letter' for printing on 8.5x11" page.

  • Acrobat X Pro - create PDF from Excel with no margins...ARGH!

    Hello all,
    Does anyone know if it's possible to create a PDF from a selection of Excel cells without a margin appearing on the PDF file? Even if I set the print margins (print to Adobe PDF) to zero, Acrobat still puts in margins in the PDF. The background of the Excel file is black (as specified by my manager), and he wants black all the way to the edges of the PDF page.
    I have to submit this weekly, and as it's several pages long I don't want to be faffing about with the crop tool each Monday morning (it already takes long enough to source the data). The current solution I have been given is to create a template in Powerpoint (HATE) and link the cells/graphs, but and paste any text boxes, and then convert from Powerpoint to PDF, as no margins are imposed this way.I know cropping would be quicker than this, but surely in this day and age it's easily possible and there's just some simple option I'm just missing?

    I have the same setup with Win 7 and Office 2010 and have created thousands of PDF from Excel sheets, but never noticed this particular issue.  Regardless, rather than fight an issue like this where no specific documentation exists, I usually resort to other options in the interest of not getting bogged down in a maddening search for answers. 
    Go ahead and convert to PDF so that your links are retained, etc.  Open the resulting file in Acrobat, and use the crop tool to remove the blank margins that are at issue, either maintaining proportionality or not, depending on your needs, making sure to set the cropping tool to apply the scheme to all pages.  I'm assuming that all pages are formatted the same, such that this strategy will work.  Then, apply the cropping, and sanitize the file to remove the cropping data.  At this point, your blank margins should be completely gone, and the file can be scaled for printing if that is your objective, but that will obviously introduce some white margins again at the printer.
    The only other option I'm aware of to address this from the PDF side is via a third-party plug-in from Evermap called AutoPagex.  One of its features allows you to scale a document's content to the page margins, either maintaining proportionality or not.  Without proportionality, I was able to scale an Excel sheet with black background to all but a tiny sliver of the top and bottom margins in landscape orientation.  From here, I scaled the content via an additional feature to 100.5%, and all white margins were gone.  That said, it probably just as effective to accomplish this via the crop tool, assuming the page formatting remains consistent.

  • Full Pages with Zero Margins

    I'm trying to use Pages to format and print labels for various products on a Phaser 8200 printer.
    Previously I had used Word, but I'm trying to convert over to Apple software.
    The problem I'm having is that I format the labels as tables, with the table taking up the entire 8.5" x 11" page; with each label being an integral fraction of the page size in width and length.
    I've set the top, bottom, left and right margins, and header and footings to zero in the Document
    Inspector, but I still end up with top and bottom margins of about 1/4". How can I get rid of these?
    I realize there are other ways to format the labels, but that's beside the point. I want the labels to take up the whole page. I don't want to have to cut off the top and bottom 1/4" of the paper, and I don't want to have to jigger the content of the labels so that the content of the top row of labels 1/4" up to counteract the margins (and shift the bottom row down 1/4").

    How did you do that?
    On my system I must set the height of header/footer to zero then uncheck header/footer.
    My guess is that you set the heigt to zero but didn't uncheck the box or that you uncheck the boxes without zeroing the heights.
    This tip was described several times.

  • Horizontally centering a div with "auto" margins...

    I believe this is the first time I've ever encountered an instance where something works as intended in IE7, but won't in IE8+ or FF3.
    I am trying to horizontally center a 995px fixed (non-scrolling) div that stretches to 100% vertically.
    Here's the code I'm using :

    Not sure what you're trying to accomplish, but you can't have it both ways.
    Use either static (default) positioning and auto (default) margins or fixed positioning with coordinates for top or bottom & left or right.  Older IE browsers don't support fixed positioning on anything except the body tag -- which may explain your results.

  • Suddenly, the seperators in my bookmark sidebar get removed to the bottom of the list whenver I open the browser, totally ruining my organizing. what can I do?

    When I started firefox today, I noticed that in my sidebar the seperator lines I use for organizing my bookmarks and folders were gone, removed to the bottom of the list. Also, the bookmarks got rearranged. It was complete chaos.
    I used the back-up function to get my initial order back, but whenever I close the browser and reopen it, I am having the same issue again. Instant bookmark chaos with every browser start.
    What can I do to stop this? It's really a pain... Thank you so much for your help!

    Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
    You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

    hello, is there a way to make a word processing document in pages with !" inch margins? i ask this because there is a box where you can write text and the you start your document, but it takes more than 1 inch from the top, can that box be removed? and why whatever you write in the box appears in every page of the paper? is there a way to avoid this? sorry I do not use computers very often and i just want to write an essay for my english clss, thanks for your help.

    The box is called Headers and is used for thing that will be repeated on several pages like page numbering and names etc.. You can uncheck it in the Inspector > Document tab
