Siebel 8.1.1 Install error using MS SQL Server 08

Hi,
I am trying to set up a Siebel Proto environment on WinXP system. The database that I am using is MS SQL Server 2008 with SP1 installed.
After installing Siebel at the Database Install step, I encountered a failure on step 'Import Repository Data' The error log generated is as follows:

I am using SADMIN user for Database account and SIEBEL user for Table owner. I have also tried using SIEBEL user in both places.
Basically what is SARM? And how can I enable it?
I have tried connecting to the DB from the Server system and am successful in that.
Thanks for the help in advance.
With Regards,
Tanmay Jain

Hi EvtLoglvl,
I am able to connect to the SQL Server using the ODBC connections and also SADMIN id has requisite SSE_ROLE granted to it and the default DB for it is SIEBEL_DB on which I am attempting installation. I was able to successfully run the grantuser.sql file that Siebel provides by default to create the roles and logins for SIEBEL, SADMIN and LDAPUSR.
The problem I am encountering is when I try to perform the Database Server configuration. The system creates the required tables and indexes successfully on the DB. The problem is coming when it tries to Import the base repository that Siebel Server Installation comes with. The error log was for the same.
I feel that the Siebel Installer is missing some APIs to connect to SQL Server 08.
The SQL Server is hosted on a system with x64 architecture and the Siebel Server is on a x86 architecture system. I also have Service Pack 1 installed on both the DB Server and Siebel Server. Using third party tools I am able to manipulate the database without any hitches from the Siebel Server system.
Latest, I have tried reinstalling the virtual environment completely, i.e. started from scratch and had the same issue when I tried the Siebel Database Server installation step. I sure hope I dont have to install SQL 05 and install Siebel Database on it and then do an upgrade of the database.
Thanks for the info about SARM. It still shows up in the Log file and after it the install fails though.
Thanks and Regards,
Tanmay Jain

    Hi,
    Im using the SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC Service Pack 3. The connection is succesfully, but when I use de statement.executequery() method, there is the follow exception:
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]Invalid object name 'PEC_COUNTRY'.
    This is my code:
    ResultSet resultSet;
    Statement statement;
    Connection connection;
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver").newInstance();
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://S0MALMUERTA:1433;user=sa;password=");
    statement = connection.createStatement();
    resultSet = statement.executeQuery("SELECT COY_INX, COY_NAME, COY_ICO FROM PEC_COUNTRY
    ");When I make the last instruction, occurs the above exception
    Thanks in advance
    Luija

    The way you are connecting, the default database used will be 'master' and i guess that the table PEC_COUNTRY was defined in another database.
    If it is the case you need to specify the database name.
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://S0MALMUERTA:1433;DatabaseName=yourdb;user=sa;password=");

  • SQL ENTERPRISE: The edition of Reporting Services that you are using requires that you use local SQL Server relational databases for report data sources and the report server database

    The error below makes absolutely no sense! I'm using Enterprise Core...yet I'm being told I can't use remote data sources:
    w3wp!library!8!03/05/2015-19:08:48:: i INFO: Catalog SQL Server Edition = EnterpriseCore

    Services that you are using requires that you use local SQL Server relational databases for report data sources and the report server database." is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services.;
    Really? This totally contradicts the documentation found here:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms157285(v=sql.110).aspx
    That article says remote connections are completely supported.
    ARGH! Why does this have to be so difficult to setup?!?

    Hi jeffoliver1000,
    According to your description, you are using Enterprise Core edition and you are prompted that you can’t use remote data sources.
    In your scenario, we neither ignore your point nor be doubt with what you say. But actually we have met the case before that even though the SQL Server engine is Enterprise but the reporting services is still standard. So I would recommend you to find the
    actual edition of reporting services you are using. You can find Reporting Services starting SKU in the Reporting Service logs ( default location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\<instance name>\Reporting Services\LogFiles). For more information,
    please refer to the similar thread below:

    For SharePoint to recognize the SQL server name we provide its name and instance while installing SharePoint. When we are using SQL alias to connect to SQL, we need to configure the same alias on SharePoint server so that SharePoint recognize alias over
    the network.
    Having SharePoint connect to a SQL Alias instead of the NetBIOS name is always a good idea. The main benefit is, if you ever have to switch the SQL Server or connect to a SQL Cluster VIP address, you just change the Alias to point to the SQL Cluster name
    on the SharePoint Server and restart the SharePoint Timer Service and you are good to go.
    Please check this blog.

    They are suggesting me to do a fresh install of SOA. But I feel that is not the correct solution.
    Now I can do that as i have only two processes running on the server.

  • How to install CMS database on Sql Server

    Hi
    Now I am installing Crystal Reports Server 2008, current environment is windows server 2003 + Sql Server 2005.
    During the installing, because I want to use Sql Server 2005, so I picked "use a existing database server", however when I get into "select existing cms database" step, and selected "Sql Server(ODBC)" there is nothing show on the ODBC(DSN) list, I have already create a new ODBC on Data Sources(ODBC),  when I click "browse" I can not find any data source, so that is mean I have to install a new mysql database in my server, but I don't want to, I just want to use the Sql Server, could you tell me why or how to do it?
    Thanks in advance.

    If you select SQL Server as your CMS database make sure that the datasource you created is a Machine DSN and not a User DSN.  Make sure that you have created a blank SQL Server database and have your Machine DSN point to it.
    I hope that helps

    I assume from your message that you are attempting to
    deploy your application into OC4J - you're probably
    implicitly using the inbuilt OC4J if your using JSPs.
    If so, try placing the jdbc jars into the <JDEVHOME>\lib directory
    and referencing them from the j2ee\home\application.xml
    file:
    use lines like:
    <library path="../../../lib/msbase.jar" />

    I'm using WebLogic 6.0sp1 with Commerce Server 3.5 and I've successfully
    installed the demo. I would like to create another commerce server
    installation, this time using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as the database
    instead of Cloudscape. I've downloaded and installed the BEA jDriver
    for MS SQL 7/2000 and tested it using dbping. My question is: where are
    the db scripts for creating and populating the commerce database? I've
    found the WLCS_320_DB_DDL_1.1.zip file on the BEA downloads site, but
    I'm concerned that this schema is for Version 3.20 of Commerce Server.
    Is there a similar file for WLCS 3.50? If not, is it safe to use this
    one?
    If this is posted in the wrong place, please let me know and I'll repost
    to the appropriate newsgroup as required.
    Sincerely,
    Michael Schulz

    Hi Nuno,
    I just wanted you to verify the path where you have pasted JAR file. As you mentioned
    Path 1:
    C:\Sybase\UnwiredPlatform\Servers\UnwiredServer\lib
    but as per doc it should be under:
    C:\Sybase\UnwiredPlatform\Servers\UnwiredServer\lib\3rdparty
    Path 2:
    C:\Sybase\UnwiredPlatform\Unwired_WorkSpace\Eclipse\sybase_workspace\mobile\eclipse\plugins\com.sybase.uep.com.sqlserver_2.1.0.201109131337
    but as per doc it should be under:
    C:\Sybase\UnwiredPlatform\Unwired_WorkSpace\Eclipse\sybase_workspace\mobile\eclipse\plugins\com.sybase.uep.com.sqlserver_2.1.0.201109131337\lib

  • Installing SharePoint 2013 with SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition

    Hi,
    Can we use SQL Server 2012 Developer edition with SharePoint 2013?  One thing that came to my mind was setting max degree of parallelism, is that supported in Developer edition?  Looking forward to your assistance here.
    Thanks,
    kashif

    I'm slightly incorrect. See http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/4/A/64A1EC8F-F575-41E1-9D34-821FA9F98F8E/SQL_Server_2012_Licensing_Reference_Guide.pdf.
    Licensing SQL Server for Non-production Use
    The SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition is a full-function version of the SQL Server software—with all the
    features and capabilities of the Enterprise edition—licensed under the Developer Tools model, which is a “per
    user” model. One license is required for each person that accesses or uses the software.
    When using SQL Server software for development, test or demonstration purposes, only the users are licensed
    and there is no need for a corresponding license for the actual server systems running SQL Server software in
    this case.
    As long as only licensed users have access to the software, customers can install as many copies of the software
    on any number of servers that are used exclusively for development, test or demonstration purposes. This
    is significant, because it allows customers to run the software on multiple devices (for testing purposes, for
    example) without having to license each non-production server system.
    But no, as you can see above, you'll have no issues with the software (Developer Edition is Enterprise Edition with licensing restrictions, but no functionality restrictions).
