Siebel8-How to use special character in WF expression

How to use a special Chanarcter in a Workflow expression?
in the below expression, am looking for comma
IIF(Instr([&ProccProp], "','"), 'Y', 'N')
But I am getting the following error
The query could not be run because there is an invalid character in the field '<?>'. Please ensure that the value in the field is formatted correctly with only valid characters.
Missing quotes around the search criteria or unnecessary punctuation will often cause an error.(SBL-DAT-00403)
The Siebel version is 8.
Thanks in advance

Fine you already bypass this.
When i readed your post and saw your solution, i asked for myself what version of siebel you were using, and from the first post understood that was version 8.
Some months ago i have made workflows in siebel 8 and many times happened that i falled in situations and errors that were very very tricky to understand...workflow UI in that version, really needs some improvements.
Bye

  • How to use special characters in regular expression

    HI all, I am new to regular expression.
    Can any one please tell me the regular expression for characters which are used in regular expression like " [({. tetc.Is there any particular expression to prefix before using these characters

    Expression:
    < td .*? bgcolor = \" ( [^ \" ] +) \" \\s* .*? > ( .+? ) </td>
    It will search for expression starting with <td ,
    .*? means any characters zero or more than one,
    then it will find bgcolor = , then literal \"... \(any char) is that specific char
    [ ^ \" ] any character but not literal \",this means there has to be something between ".... " if empty then wont match ,+ is 1 or more times
    Then again literal \ " , after that \\s* means zero or more num of spaces,
    then again , .*? means any characters zero or more than one,
    it will search for literal > , again any chars . * ?
    Finally </td> will be searched.....!!
    So all expressions having this particular structure will be
    matched.
    Output :
    <td align="left" valign="top" bgcolor="ffffff" width="177">bla bla bla</td>

  • How to insert special character from Oracle form builder 10g

    Dear all,
    I need help. how to insert special character like 'Superscript or Subscript ' from oracle form builder 10g. I had try in Oracle form builder 6i with press ALT+ASCII code in the text item and it work, but in the oracle form builder 10g this method doesn't work... would you like to help me...somebody please...
    Best Regard,
    Dedy P.T.

    What do you mean by insert ... from Forms Builder? Do you mean you want to add it as text in a string of pl/sql code or as part of boiler plate text (label) or a value on the Property Palette?
    For special characters you would need set NLS_LANG to something that would support the characters you want to use. For the Builder to see the change, you would need to set NLS_LANG to something like:
    NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8
    This can be done in the Windows Registry or system. As I mentioned, this will only apply to the Builder and will have nothing to do with a running form. For running forms you would need to set this in default.env. As for things like super and sub scripts, these are font formats and not necessarily characters. For the most part, I don't believe these are supported in Forms.

  • How to use escape character in update statement.

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to update table using following sql update statement, but everytime it's asking me for the input due to the '&' value in below sql.
    UPDATE xyz_xyz
       SET NAME = 'ABC & PQR'
    WHERE ID = (SELECT ID
                   FROM abc_abc
                  WHERE NAME = 'C & PQR');Please let me know how to use escape character syntax or let me know if there is any alternative solution.
    Thanks,
    Vishwas

    Hi,
    By default, & marks a substitution variable name.
    If you're not using substitution variables in that statement (or, if this is in PL/SQL, in that entire package or procedure) then the easiest thing to do is just diable substitution variables; then & will be a normal character:
    SELECT  DEFINE  OFF
    UPDATE xyz_xyz
       SET NAME = 'ABC & PQR'
    WHERE ID = (SELECT ID
                   FROM abc_abc
                  WHERE NAME = 'C & PQR');
    SET  DEFINE  ONIf you can't do that, then & is always taken literally if it comes right before a single-quote, so you could say:
    UPDATE xyz_xyz
       SET NAME = 'ABC &' || ' PQR'
    WHERE ID = (SELECT ID
                   FROM abc_abc
                  WHERE NAME = 'C &' || ' PQR');There is a SQL*Plus "SET ESCAPE" command, too, but if you use it, you have to worry about whether the escape character is to be taken literally or not.
    SET   ESCAPE  \Yet another alternative is to make some other character, such as ~, mark the substitution variables:
    SET  DEFINE  ~Read all about them in the SQL*Plus manual.

  • How to insert special character in sgm file and interprete it without isoents while opening in FM9.0

    I have an sgm file which contains special characters in different languages.
    <!DOCTYPE MANUAL PUBLIC "-//SWE-XXX//DTD XXX MANUAL-DTD 2.0//EN">
    <MANUAL LANG="CS">
    <TITEL>
    Polish characters: &oacute;&ecirc;&iquest;&ntilde;&aelig;&Ntilde;&AElig;&Ecirc;&yen;&Oacute;&pound;
    Czech characters: &eacute;&igrave;&oacute;&iuml;&aacute;&oslash;&egrave;&iacute;&ugrave;&ograve;&uacute;&Og rave;&Igrave;&Eacute;&Oacute;&Uacute;&Ugrave;&Egrave;&Oslash;&Iacute;&Aacute;&Iuml; aacute: &aacute;</TITEL>
    </MANUAL>
    Is there any way to insert special character directly in sgm file, so that it won't have to be interpreted by isoents mapping rules?
    isoent.rwr interpretes oacute as:
    entity "oacute" is fm char 0x00F3;
    But I would like to use 0x00F3 directly in fm file, so that if any additional character is needed - I won't have to update isoent files
    I've tested already:
    &#x00F3;
    &x00F3;
    &0x00F3;
    but with no luck
    Is there anyone who could help me with it?
    I will really appreciate your help
    /Joanna

    Hi Michael. Thank you for your reply.
    There is no declaration within sgm file itself - but while opening the file I use sgml application definition with the following settings:
    Default API client:  FmTranslator
    SGML character encoding:  ISO Latin1
    XML character encoding:  UTF-8
    Namespace: Enable
    CSS2 Preferences:
    Generate CSS2: Disable
    Add Fm CSS Attribute To XML: Disable
    Retain Stylesheet Information: Disable
    Entity locations
    Entity search paths
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\FrameMaker9\Structure\sgml\isoents
    So as you can see, character encoding is set to ISO Latin1 (there is no way to use UTF-8 encoding in sgml files)
    Typing ź or ć in sgm document and opening it with framemaker sgml application - I receive: ¿æ and message: "Non-SGML character found; should have been character reference"
    Everything works fine when I type f.ex.: &x016B; and insert appropriate reference lines into isolat1.rw and isolat1.ent files
    But what I would like to avoid is editing those isoent files each time new character is be needed.

  • How to use special aggregation in bi  beans

    Dear Gurus:
    I am using Bi beans in a project, on cube has a banlance measure, I set the last() aggregation in olap option with OEM, But when I query this cube, this measure still use default sum(), So whould you please help me how to use this special aggregation in bi beans.

    George,
    One way to get non-additive aggregations is to use an Analytic Workspace, or AW. AWs support all the aggregation operations, and can be exposed through the OLAP Catalog as "fully solved" cubes, in which case
    the OLAP API will merely fetch the correctly computed aggregate values.
    Today, setting up an AW for use by BI Beans and the OLAP API requires lengthy scripts that create the necessary ADTs and Views, plus calls to the CWM2 PL/SQL API. However, OLAP will be releasing an AW Manager tool
    that makes this process easier. Please contact OLAP Product Management for further details.

  • How to handle special character in SAP CRM

    Hi all,
    I am facing a problem on SAP CRM Web UI - Contact Creation - When a special character is inserted on address fields of Business
    Partner (e.g. ` ~ ^ etc.), the interface does not understand this character and changes it to a TRIANGLE on pressing enter key.
    Kindly guide as how to handle it or something is missing in terms of (note or patch).
    I am running on SAP CRM 7.0
    Thanks,
    Pradeep Singh Dhadwal

    Hi Pradeep.
    At the end of the day, a character is stored as a byte sequence on disk, and a code page defines the mapping between the byte sequence and any given character.The code page determines what character you can see and enter, therefore different code pages map different characters to the same byte sequence.
    I suggest you to first check if your system is a Unicode system by checking the System menu->Status option->Unicode system field. I'll assume it is.
    Then, please run report RSCP0018 (optionally also RSCPINST and then select Current NLS config pushbutton).
    These reports will show you the actual configuration of languages and code pages of your Application Server. Please check that the correct languages and code pages are configured. If you need to know more about code pages configuration, please check Note 42305, which explains pretty well the whole process.
    Kind regards, and good luck.

  • [OIM] Cannot use special character in User Group Name

    Dear IdM expert,
    I have problem creating user group in OIM if user group name contain special character like '&', '<' or '+'.
    I read Note 430081.1 : Can a Field Label in an Object Form Contain Special Characters? and change <AppFirewall><SecurityLevel> in xlconfig.xml to 0, (by default SecurityLevel is set to 1). But still no luck.
    Could anyone find way to do this? Thank you.
    Best Regards,
    Satit

    I don't think the app fire wall applies to recon events so that is probably how they got in.
    You may have to update the database tables directly to solve this. Should not be a big issue as you aren't messing with any table primary keys.
    Best regards

    I'm not sure.
    Perhaps UNISTR() or TO_NCHAR() will be helpful.
    select level, unistr(concat('\', TO_CHAR(Level, 'FM000X'))) from dual connect by level < 300;
