Siemens DIS to MII integration

I am exploring possibilities of SIMATIC IT Data Integration with SAP MII 12.0.
Siemens DIS provides HTTP client & server connectors. HTTP server connector can poll remote MII server in every n seconds and can pick whenever new response gets generated in MII.
Another possibility is to use COM connector as a bridge to Siemens DIS system. It allows any third party application which supports COM technology to connect to DIS. So here I see a need to have a Windows COM application hosted on IIS that can support COM and start the COM connector as in-process COM server. MII can do Web Service call to custom application to trigger the DIS.
Second approach gives trigger to MII without continuous polling by DIS.
I will appreciate all the responses on it.

1- Is it possible use UDS OPC-HDA with winCC?
Yes it is possible.
2- Which component must be installed at winCC side?
You need the a additional License ([WinCC/Connectivity Pack|http://www.automation.siemens.com/hmi/html_76/products/software/wincc_optionen/connectivity-pack.htm]) in WinCC for HDA. Also you need to customize it.
3- WinCC OPC-DA Server is different server or winCC server?
WinCC OPC-DA and WinCC OPC-HDA is on the same Server

Wartsila MII Integration

Hello everbody,
Do you have any experience about integration between Wartsila SCADA system for power plants and SAP MII?

This is the first time I've heard of Wartsila, and my Google searches didn't reveal too much information. It appears that the data may be a bit proprietary, but WOIS (Wärtsilä Operatoru2019s Interface System) and WISE (Wärtsilä Information System Environment) appear to be the possible data locations.
There are some diagrams and discussions in these two pdf's, but I'm not finding much insight on their main website.

The PLC's may be your only option, through an OPC Server, but neither Matrikon or KepWare searches produced any matches for WOIS, WISE, Wartsila, or Wärtsilä

Install a Test/Dev instance for SAP MII.

Hi,
I want to install a test/development instance for SAP MII on my laptop [2 GB RAM].
Per my understanding, for this i would need set up SAP NetWeaver CE instance and deploy SAP MII 12.1 component.
I also want do some custom development & integration with SAP through MII to SAP ME.
As per Master Guide SAP MII 12.1.pdf, we need to Install SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 EHP1 SP03.
Since its a test/development instance can i install [SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.2 Developer Edition|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads?rid=/library/uuid/a0a6bd7b-3dfc-2c10-eb95-aae0f777d4ab] and deploy MII.?
Or do i need to have some specific version of Netweaver CE.
Please let me know what are steps to install a Test/Dev environment for SAP ME/MII integration..

MII 12.1 has not been validated on NWCE 7.2. And MII 12.2 is validated on NW 7.3, skipping NWCE 7.2. It may install fine, but you will most likely run into problems executing some of the functions and features of MII.

MII working together with HANA

Hi ,
I recently started to have a look at SAP HANA, impressive technology I must say.
Now my question is how do you see MII integrating with HANA, and will MII in your view/opinion have a place once HANA takes off ?
Has anyone had experience in doing such an integration yet, or planning to ?
Is there any one maybe in the MII development team that has an opinion or view on this ?

HANA's strength is in processing massive amounts of data, very rapidly. MII has a number of strengths (connectivity, integration of different data sources, rapid development of dashboards, etc.). Not sure where a point of competition would occur.
One area that they could share (IMHO) would be analytics applied to process historians (who have huge amounts of data). Not sure who is working on this, if anyone. But there would be some great amounts of data which could be analyzed by HANA and perhaps presented or distributed by MII.

I must use this document for mapping with some data.
I used reference document loader to load sample .XML document.
1- I must make empty inside it.
2- How can i use that .xml document? Must i use Document and Row action? How?
3- Or it must be used Reference Schema Loader?

Possible problems with Check out and Open Component and delayed publishing

I've experienced some seemingly wrong behaviors of the checkout and open component and also with the delayed publishing feature, I've listed it down :
1) The all important one:
We know we've delayed publishing features for content, if we set the Release Date metadata at a future date, the content will not be released immediately, but do we have a delayed publishing features for a website page. Through manage website the user can add / delete a page(section), may do include or exclude from navigation etc.. but can they set a future date when a particular page can be included in or excluded from navigation? This should be a standard feature for a WCM solution and I hope there is some solution for sure.
2) Can we set a datefield with a calendar feature as a page custom (section) property?
3) Again the issue with checkout and open component, only the user with admin privilege seems to be able to change the content, normal contributors cannot, cause every time is tries to check in with the old author name, so the user has to have admin privilege to assign a different doc author's name. No trace also who is making the changes.
4) Also facing a lot of problems while trying to implement when we use this checkout and open component. As we cannot check who is making the change there is to way to set us a step for self review, also user can only approve or reject but cannot edit the doc before passing it to the next step, if the step user is created using tokens then only checking out of the doc takes it pass the step user, but everything is working perfect with contributor data file. No problem whatsoever. Even if we use manual check out and then check in (i mean without using checkout and open component) this is working fine. But the main problem with non-technical users will be they would not like the content server portal at all and they would always prefer ms word over anything else. They would directly like to double-click on the website page, the word doc will pop up and they would make change and save.
Issue 1 and 4 are killer issues for us, I need your help to find a solution. I have few more issues that i will post later.

you will need to install DIS on the client machines. The POC that i did was integration of SiteStudio with CheckOutAndOpenInNative.
I am also planning to referenc this functionality from WebSphere, what i have in my mind is to copy the java script from my sitestudio page and paste
it in the JSP, and then using the CIS or RIDC will execute the serverices. At present i am stuck in some other work, If i get this thing working i will
update you. In the meanwhile if you have some question for me, feel free to throw them.

Sitestudio + check out and open in native

Hi All,
I need to integrate site studio with CheckOutAndOpenInNative component.
The scenarios is like this
1) From a sitestudio template i execute my custom service, this service looks in an application database and fetches
name and APP_Unique id.
2) This App_Unique id is also stored as a metadata field on corresponding docs in UCM.
3) from the template onclick even a service is getting called that fetches the document from UCM on the basis of This App_Unique id.
Problem Area: What i want is when a user clicks on a document then document should open in editable mode and when user makes any save
then the document should get updated in UCM.
I am toying with idea of integrating CheckOutAndOpenInNative component for this. If you can give some leads as to how this can be accomplished
i will be grateful to you.
any thoughts if DIS can be used instead...?

Unable to Link a Notification to an Order

Hi Experts,
I am trying to create an order linked to a notification and can able to do it too.
But when i go to IW32 (Order Details ) i cannot see the Notification assigned to Order at header level..
When i go to IW33(Order Details) i cannot see the notification, instead notification field is found to be blank.
Although i can see the notification linked in Object tab, but for reporting purpose i want the notification on header level.
I am using BAPI_ALM_ORDER_MAINTAIN for order creation. Passing all the values from SAP-MII. (integration with ECC)
Appreciate any help on this.

Hi
It seems that you are creating both notification and order as part of your enhancement. Because, if you make the settings for automatic creation of the notification, which will use the standard functionality, when you save the work order, notification will be created automatically and attached to the work order header.
The setting is called "Define Notification and Order Integration"
You must link the order with the notification type and select "Maintain Indicator for Notification Data on Order Header" box.

Seimens HMI Integration with SAP MII

Dear MII Experts,
We are trying to integrate shop floor systems with SAP MII for discrete manufacturing industry.
I came across the client has 70+ machines in the plant .the vendor is "DMG"
Seimens HMI is installed on each machine .
What are the possible ways here to connect to PLC from MII
I am very new to this integration part .
Can MII directly connect to Seimens HMI .
I am very new to this area , client is ready to pay extra cost for any extra interfaces .
Please suggest me the architecture to follow .
Please give me a detailed explanation here , please correct me if I my explanation is wrong here

Hi Eswaraiah,
To access the PLC data in MII, you would need couple of things more.
1. OPC Server where the PLC stores the data.
2. PCo (SAP Plant Connectivity) that can read the data from OPC Server and send the data to MII for manipulation.
From PCo MII can read the data and you can then perform your business logic. Also, PCo has built-in notification settings which can trigger MII's transactions based upon some conditions.
So I believe, your landscape would look like
Siemens HMI --> OPC Server -> PCo --> MII

SAP MII to SAP ME integration using MEINT component

Hello Experts,
I am currently studying the integration part between ERP and ME using ME INT component. I am done with configuration necessary for meint in MII. I am quite clear with workflow from ERP to MII using IDoc. But workflow from MII to ME is confusing me a lot. So please help me on this issue.
Target: BOM data has to be transfered from ERP to ME.
Understanding till now:
1. ERP will send a BOM (via IDoc) to MII.
2. MII will send it to a queue in ME INT database.
Queries:
1. After an IDoc is added to MEINT message queue, how will it be passed to ME?
2. Also, if I send BOM data to ME before ITEMs are configured in ME, will ME through an error?
I have gone through "SAP MEINT Overview and data communication between SAP ECC and SAP ME via SAP MEINT" help documentation but I didnt get enough clarity over sending data to ME.

Understanding till now:

Inbound Integration :
ECC sends IDOC .
MII receives IDOC and process using message processing rule ( not MEINT Database )
Uses WS calls internally to insert data into ME (WIP Databse)
Outbound integration:
ME adds a record in MEINT table with input xml ( MEINT workflows are used in the background )
MII processes those records from MEINT tables in batches based on the configuration.

MII -- MES Integration

Hi,
We have a situation where MES System is Integrated to Shopfloor devices such as Sensor's, PLC's and HMI's and they have the Database where they gone a save the captured data and MII needs to read that data and capture them in dashboards, till here I am able to understand but how the data flow will be if ERP is sending the downstream data to MES and then MES sends the confirmations to ERP, I mean how database can be used in such scenario.

Which MES you are using in your shopfloor.if it is SAP ME then we will store data in WIP database which is SAP ME database then you can send to SAP or get it from SAP.

NWDI Integration to MII sca files

Hi,
Iam trying to integrate NWDI with existing MII. Iam using MII 12.1.8 version.
I have downloaded MII_BUILDT.sca SP08, and XMII.sca SP08 patches from servive marketplace.
Where can I get the SAP_BUILDT.sca file. Also for integration where should all these 3 sca files to be placed(i mean which path).

But now I am confused which SP version of this file has to be downloaded whether I need to take MII SP version or NW SP version?
According to MII project building and deploying it says this path \usr\sap\trans\EPS\in\CMS<server><sid>\CMS\inbox for deploying these files is this is correct?
Also one more thing while configuring Integration of MII with Existing NWDI in MII nwa I closed the browser directly , now I see start , resume , re-execute all three buttons are disabled. how can I start or re-execute .

Cisco BE6k with CUCM 10.X integration with Siemens with Hipath 3350 and 3550

Dear Experts;
We have one requirment from customer.
They have 4 branches with Siemens Hipath 3350 and 3550 PBX and they want to integrate with cisco CUCM 10.x.
The Head Quater with complete CUCM as IPT and branches with with Hipath 3350 and 3550 PBX.
CIsco TAC says interoperability doc is not available and also I can see tehre is no doc.
TAC Reply As below.
We do not have any documents about CUCM integration with Hipath 3350 and 3550 on our interoperability portal. This means that their integration with CUCM was never properly tested. So we can not confirm that all features will be working. But from CUCM perspective this is third-party device that can be integrated using SIP or ISDN (with Voice Gateway between them).

If the Siemens supports SIP or H323 you can attempt to simply create a trunk between the systems and route calls via it. If IP integration is not an option then as pointed by TAC integrate via PRI circuit (preferably QSIG). From CUCM side it will be just another GW, similarly from Siemens side. You'll need to select which side is going to be ISDN network (I always use Cisco side) and then make the other side user.

MII Minitab Integration

I am trying to use the minitab integration features in MII. I was wondering if anyone has used this feature, if so could they give some example transactions. I can get the data output in minitab format using the minitab action block but am hoping that it's possible to replace my display template with a minitab chart on my web page. Is this possible?

Hi, Nick. I have done Minitab integration with MII (I wrote the Minitab interface for MII), but it was a LOOOONG time ago, so I don't remember the specifics. I do remember that it was very possible to have Minitab activated by clicking on a link on an MII web page, with dynamic data being sent to Minitab from an MII BLS transaction. I just don't recall the exact details of how to structure the URL. I suspect it involved putting a fake filename on the end of the URL that included a file extension that Minitab knew how to open.

MII transaction as Web service integration

Hi MII's transaction can be called as WS but it has its own format. We have a system to integrate and this system should call MII's transaction. However the WS interface of the system is inflexible (it cannot be change, but has a very simple structure). So I just want to know any idea how we could change MII in order to adapt to the data structure .

Now, I am able to create the Web Service in SAP and it is now showing the respective class, attribute and methods to execute this web service (web service to call MII transaction).
But when I am calling it from ABAP (a simple Web Dynpro for ABAP method), it is showing me the following error:
Error (id=GET_BUSINESS_SYSTEM_ERROR): An error occurred when determining the business system (LD_ERROR)
Thought this error is coming from ABAP program, but I am sure that this is related to some configuration at SAP level. (Let me inform you that there are two different servers for SAP Web Dynpro ABAP and SAP MII.
Please help.
