Siginificance of the user and system variables
What is the significance of user variable and system variable in
windows 2000 environment?
Because I usually set user variable(classpath and path) and system
variable(classpath,path and javahome) after installing j2sdk and
weblogic. But I find out one of my friend just set the user variable and
running the same. I like to know that what the system doing with user variable and
system variable? In system view, what is the difference between the user var
and system var?
Not sure what this has to do with Java, but: The system variables apply to all users. The user variables apply to only the user that set them. Sign on as a different user and see what happens.

Posibilities of user and system status?
Hi CRM experts,
I've some doubts respect the user and system status configuration.
My client wants to stop the upload process (to R3 site) of a Sales Order document, regarding a specific user status. Then, they want to restore the uploading process regarding into a specific user status different from the firts one.
User Status - System Status
Status 1 - Stop uploading process
Status 2 - Restore the uploading process
I made the following customizing in my status profile (assigned to my Sales Order transaction)
User Status - Transaction Control - Forbidden - Set
Status 1 - To be distributed - X - X
Status 2 - empty - empty - empty
When I save a Sales Order in Status 1, the BDOC is correctly generated and the document is not present in R3 environment. The problem occurs when I modify the Status, from Status 1 to Status 2. The document is in R3 environment (???) but the generated BDOC remains in Yellow light.
Is correct to implement this uploading behaviour regarding a user status like my configuration? May I implement some checks on the upload BADI better?
I need some help in these questions please.

It might be easier if you could come to a scenario were one specific user status should trigger the distribution. Then you have a direct link between a user status & a system status, meaning that there is no need for additional coding.
If the bdoc remains in intermediate state, then that means there's an error in the queues or a short dump. check transactions smq1 & smq2 and ST22 in both systems.

Activity Monitor % User and % System do not add up
Looking at my iMac i7 Activity Monitor/ All Processes/ CPU I find that the % User and % System do not add up to showing the correct % Idle.
For example, a recent screenshot shows % user = 0.81, the % System = 0.41 and % idle shows 61.25. The CPU usage graph show nothing going on and the Process Name list shows nothing unusual.
This constantly changes - sometimes the figures add up to 100% but usually the % Idle can be anywhere from 40% to a correct 98 - 99% based on nothing of any consequence running.
I look at the Activity Monitor on my MacBook and % Idle shows correct addition and a constant 98 - 99%.
What is going on?

Totally removing Intego VirusBarrier X6 from my main computer (iMac i7) finally lets me enjoy my music again.
The main problem is that X6 does not provide feedback as to what it is doing so the user cannot adjust the settings. In other words, no specific message as to what X6 just prevented.
As a crash can occur anywhere from 10 minutes to 8 hours of play time, hit or miss setting adjustments waste an amazing amount of time. This has been going on for a year with the frequency of crashes escalating.
I had already entered all my music devices on the Trusted List and had set up rules for all the ports that Squeezebox uses. Still crashed.
There is no reason why Logitech and/or Intego engineers cannot provide security setup instructions. Unfortunately, Logitech only shows security help for PCs.
Well the nightmare is over. Amazing what free time I now have.
The next three paragraphs are for Squeezebox owners and may be of some help if you are having problems:
A crash (for me) is defined in many ways. The worst crash is when the Squeezebox device shuts off and only pulling the electric plug will revive it. Another crash shows itself when the next song only plays for about 1 second and goes to the next song endlessly until the device shuts off. The Logitech manual says move the device closer to the wireless point when this happens but if they are connected by ethernet cables, this advice is useless. Another crash is when three units are synced and one of them suddenly is no longer in sync and playing a different song.
Crashes can occur when units are in sync or not in sync. Connected wirelessly or by ethernet. And when a crash occurs, the loud 'crunching' noise that occurs is not kind to the speakers.
BTW, if some devices are in sync, make sure these devices are connected the same way - either all wirelessly or all by ethernet. If you don't, you will experience sound lags of about 1/2 second. A very annoying echo effect. -
I successfully deleted a user from my MacBook through the Users and Groups window in System Preferences. But now I cannot close the lock in the bottom left corner of the box. When I click on it, I briefly see a word that I think says "reauthorizing" but the word flashes too quickly to tell for sure.

I want to ask if someone has experienced in the UCM Administration Applets, that request the user and password confirmation for each time the applets are executed,

For example, you logged into "http://myserver/cs" or "http://<ip address>/cs". However, your HttpServerAddress variable is defined in Content Server as "http://myserver.mydomain.com". (Any absolute links to the applets use the variable to build the URL.) The browser "thinks" this is a new domain, and doesn't forward credentials to the different address. So the applet must prompt again for credentials. (Are you using a load balancer by chance? Does your HttpServerAddress variable in Content Server match the DNS entry being used for the load balancer?)
I've also seen some versions of the Sun client JRE do this by design as a security "feature". If you using IE, make sure your server address is in the "trusted" or "intranet" security zone. -
What is the user and password to Oracle 8.17

I have loaded IDES 4.7 with Oracle 8.17.
I wish to query the SAP table using Oracle PL/SQL.
What is the user, password and string to login into SAP Oracle database? Since I was not asked for user and password when installing Oracle I do not know how to login.
Also can you let me know how to view/change table fields in SAP tables. I understand there are different ways but which in your opinion is the easiest to find the record I want to correct(as some tables have many fields).

Starting up a database when I forgot the sys and system password

I want to startup up a database from Oracle Entreprise Manager. I forgot the sys and system password.
If I give the command:
orapwd file=orapwSDB01 password=test entries=100
can I give the password "test" to sys and then to connect with sys with password test as sysdba, and then to startup the database? Are any problems with this command?

I have not done this myself, but YES, according to the documentation, thats correct.
ORAPWD FILE=mypwdfile PASSWORD=syspass ENTRIES=10
will set the password of SYS to syspass. And you can use the same further.
But here, you should be in oracle user or the user which owns the Oracle installation.
Also, OS authentication is always supperior than any other authentication.

How do the User and Shared Folders relate to the main drive? Can we delete?
I'm curious how the User and Shared folders relate to the main hard drive and if there is duplicate files in these folders and the main hard drive. Some software programs I have seemed to have loaded content/info into these folders and I'm wondering why they put files in there instead of just the regular main hard drive pathing. These 2 folders are more confusing than anything. I can see that might be of use to a family and each family member wants to keep files in a personal file, but when I'm the only one using my computer, it seems like I should have the option to remove these folders completely, but I don't because I feel like I would be deleting some important files that I wasn't aware were in these folders.
Another thing is, when I click on User folders (at least I think it's the User and not Shared folder), it brings up my name and 'Shared' in 2 seperate subfolders. Is anything in these folders duplicates of what's on my main hard drive? Is there anything significant about these folders if I'm the only user on my computer?
I would nice to get rid of clutter and to eliminate options for software to install things by deleting these folders and not have home/user/shared folders. Is that possible?stikygum wrote:

They are not aliases; it is a hierarchy, and there is intentional duplication at different levels. This is a feature.
First thing is that Users and Shared are at different levels. Users is at the top level, but Shared is one level inside Users, at the same level as any other user account you have created.
Therefore, if you delete the Users folder, you delete all user accounts, which means you delete all personal data. OS X probably won't even let you delete the Users folder unless you start up from a different hard drive, because you can't delete your user account while you are running in it.
Now, more about the hierarchy. The intentional duplication is so that documents and software can exist for individual users or all users. For example, there are multiple Applications folders:
Hard Drive\Applications - applications any user can see, installed at the system level
Hard Drive\Users\username1\Applications = applications only that user can see
Hard Drive\Users\username2\Applications = applications only that user can see
In the same way, there are multiple Preferences, Cookies, Application Support, etc. folders at different levels, for the same reasons.
If you do not know what you are doing and you delete one of these folders that "looks like a duplicate" you could cripple some essential part of your system or your account. That is why people are telling you not to do this.
The Shared folder is there because if you are in one user account you are prevented from seeing the files inside other user accounts. (Because you don't want other accounts to be able to see your personal data.) If you want to share files with others in your house using the same Mac, that's a problem. But the Shared folder solves this. if you want some files to be accessible to all users, like some photos or music, just put them in the Shared folder and now anyone with an account on that computer can see those shared files.
The reason shared files are not simply stored at the top level is because everything above the Users folder is supposed to be reserved for the system. User-specific are supposed to stay in the Users folder. That is why they put the Shared folder in there.
If you are not using the Shared folder and are just eyeing it because you want to free up some disk space, well, it probably won't help to delete it. Because if you are not using the Shared folder, it is probably not taking up much space, even though you see stuff in there. And if there is stuff in there taking up space, first figure out if someone put it there for a reason before you delete it. -

Linking to an OBIEE report without showing the user and password

we are trying to access to an obiee report from an external portal (coded with php).
The idea is that the user clicks on a link an gets the report in pdf format. For that purpose we are using this url:

But this url is expossing OBIEE's user and password.
In order to avoid this security issue we tried to do an wget of the url but it doesn't return the report. Instead we get an html, which seams to download the report chunk by chunk (using javaScript).
The question is, is there any way that we could let our portal ussers access to an obbie report without expossing the user and password?
I have been looking into oracle forums and have found this: OBIEE Go URL with password protected
but we couldn't use this aproach due to security issues.

How to use the user and role API's and where to use it
Hi All,
I have configured SSO for my UCM11g. Now my application authenticates through the Oracle SSO login page. Currently it is working with SQL authenticator.
Now, i have to use LDAP authenticator. when i will configure the LDAP authenticator, i have to use the user and role API's to fetch the user profile information from LDAP. i have got the API's which will be used to fetch the respected information, but i am not getting as where i will write those java programs and how this API will be used in my application. what settings i need to do on it so that application uses the API's. ?

Now, I think I have to set the processor of every actions in every process if I use the GP for processing the workflow.
I am better to hope that I can set the processor to the role for every actions in every process in the runtime through get the organizational structure in the WDA(webdynpro for java or webdynpro for java). Thus, the customer don't set the processor to the role for every action in every process when runing in the GP. I don't know how to do this.
Whether the function is not supported in the GP? If so, I have to config two organizational structure: in the R/3 and in the Portal. I don't think our customer don't receipt this solution.
