Signal bars change to numbers when touched
I restored my 3GS to 3.1.3 just now but of course, I restored from my backup also because I need my text messages, notes and all...
now, this was also true before the restore (software), that when I touched the signal bars they changed to a certain negative number. When the restore finished, I tried to change them but they didn't. The restore from backup got them back to the same thing.
So I'm wondering, is there any way to get the bars to remain permanent?
Why don't you just tap them once and not tap them again? I find that I inadvertently tap and bring up the bars every once in a while. I just tap again to bring up the numbers... no big deal. You can do the opposite if you don't want the numbers.
I would not trust the bars as Apple reset them with the 3.0 update (I think) to show more bars for the same signal strength. Personally, I think they're worthless because I can have 3-4 bars and barely have a signal. The numbers are much more indicative of the actual signal strength, thus why they show (and not the bars) in Field Test Mode.

Genres tags keep changing to numbers when syncing or opening iTunes
I am noticing that when I open iTunes or even now when I sync with my iPod Classic that random song tags are getting messed up.
The genre tag especially is turning from whatever it is supposed to be like Progressive Rock to 42 or 20 or some other random number on lets say 400 of my 7700 songs. It is creating havoc in my library. I am properly closing iTunes and waiting for the process to close before turning off PC, what is happening?

It did it once last week with about 500 songs that I had to fix and this was just after opening itunes from restarting my computer. Now, it happened sometime in the 30 mins it took from when i synced before i left to when I synced when I got back.
Message was edited by: jupiterssj4Seem to have found the problem. Apparently, using Songbird and iTunes together isn't very nice. It has to do with lyricmaster automatically downloading lyrics into the mp3 file and something gets corrupted with the genre or track tag.

Change Visible Signal Bar Text???
Can the text in the "visible signal" bar be changed? We'd like it to say "My Company IT Support" or some such. I see where the permissions dialog text can be changed, but I can't find any documentation on the "visible signal." Our teachers and staff freak out when the "ZENworks Remote Management" bar pops up. Sometimes they turn the system off. No, I can't get anyone train or explain to them what this means, and some people simply forget. It would really help to be able personally brand the "visible signal."
If it requires editing server files, I may be out of luck, as my boss can't remember and didn't write down the primary server's root password for the third time.

Just setting up iCloud on my iMac 10.9.2, my problem is when trying to sign out/off from iCloud it comes up with a verification code that is being sent to my land line, I'd changed the numbers in my Apple ID and they show as changed but the land line number still shows as number that the verification code is being sent, I prompt "Don't have access to this phone" and that's no help at all. The only way I can sign out /off from iCloud is to uncheck everything that I wanted to keep in the cloud????

Once you reach the home page, go to settings and sign out of FaceTime and Messages. This should also sign you out of iCloud.
Go to iCloud in settings and sign in with the correct Apple ID.
If that does not work
Skip the iCloud sign in
Go to Apple ID.apple.com and sign in
Change your Apple ID to the old one
Delete iCloud account on your device with the old Apple ID and the same password.
Go back to the website, change your Apple ID back to the current one. You will receive an email to verify the account. Verify first.

In Numbers, when I click on a cell I see the formula, how do I see the number I input inot the cell?

A cell either contains:
1) what you typed (or entered) OR
2) the result of a formula
to enter a formula, select a cell, then type the "=" sign then the formula, then enter
to enter a number oer text, then type the number(s) or text you want, then the enter key
the contents of a cell is the last thing you typed into that cell. If there was a formula, then selecting the cell and typing will result in losing the formula.
B3 will change as you modify the cell contents in B1 and B2 -

Im having huge issues after updating to 12.1 on Win 8.1 x64. Choppy playback and so on.
Try this since it helps in most situtation :
Remove itunes but keep library files. Then download it again and install it.
Also most likely you will have to restore ipod touch. I restored my iPhone 5 to remove waiting for changes to apply and Error 54.
my iPad air still isnt restored (cant do it now) and it sometimes does same like iPhone waiting for changes to apply. And gives error 54 but sync DOES GET COMPLETED.
Also may sound stupid but try to use USB 2.0 Ports. Not 3.0. I have troubles when using 3.0 -

Hi. When you were in the recovery drive doing permissions, did you try and run a repair of the boot drive? Did you try single user mode? Try these first and then go back and try to reinstall the operating system.When I say repair boot drive I don't mean permissions. There are both options in disk utilities.When you open disk utilities ,you will see in the left column two drives plus possibly a boot partition that look like an external driv. click on the second drive and in first aid use repair disk. Have brand new iphone 4s. Wifi signal is very weak even when very close to router. I have also an iPod Touch and when both are side by side, the iPod wifi signal is excellent and the iPhone wifi signal is very poor??!!! Hardware issue? or software issue? I was hoping it is just a software issue, but...
Saw may web sites discussing this same issue; many discussions point to hardware problems but there is no official word from Apple about it, which is disapointing !?? Few discussions point to software problem with solutions based on try and error, and they don't seem to work.did not help at all; the problem continues the same

Strength of cell signal significantly changes
I've noticed the strength of my cell signal significantly changes, it will go from 4 to 5 bars to 1, And I'm not even moving. The reason I moved to AT&T five years ago is that I can look out my home office window and see an AT&T cell tower. I'm aware that the IOS 4.0.1 changed the algorithm on how it shows cellular strength, and in field test mode I also see the negative number changed significantly and I'm not even holding the phone with the death grip.
In the field test mode I will go from a -71 to -108, when I do the test the phone is on my desk. It’s odd that the number doesn't slowly change from -71 to a higher number, that I could understand. In just one second it will change from -71 to a -108 (five bars to one). Such a significant change in numbers so quickly when I'm virtually living next to a cell tower seems a little odd.I noticed the same with the cell phone I was using with AT&T prior to purchasing the original iPhone over 3 years ago which was the same or similar with my original iPhone and 3G and is the same with my iPhone 4. Any problems placing or receiving calls regardless?

The technical term is "EC/I0" (pronounced "ee-see-over-eye-naught") and it refers to the amount of the signal which is usable. In CDMA you can have strong signal (4 bars) and lousy EC/I0 and not be able to carry a call, and you can have low signal (zero bars) and excellent EC/I0 and carry a call fine. But they can't display EC/I0 because it fluctuates wildly (it could go from zero to four bars and back to zero again in just a few seconds) and would terrify users, so they display the signal strength, which at least has the virtue of being stable, though it doesn't really mean much.
The biggest reason why the signal strength isn't very helpful for GSM is what's known as "multipath". The signal reaching you from the cell can arrive by different routes which are slightly different lengths, meaning that they're offset in time. If you've ever seen "ghosts" on a TV when using rabbit-ear antennas, you're seeing the same effect. The "ghost" is a multipath component.
The number of bars shown with my iPhone 4 while I'm in my house fluctuates between 1 to 4 bars and there is an AT&T tower not too far away, but I have no problems placing and receiving calls and no problem with dropped calls while in my house or anywhere else. I had a 30 minute phone call last week while my iPhone showed one bar of reception.
CDMA is better overall inside buildings than GSM. -

For not in text file
You can use SAPscript to edit texts that are not stored in the text database. In this case, SAPscript only returns the changed text table to the application program, which is itself responsible for storing the text -
Carrier logo and signal bar dissappeared
Hi,
My carrier just got LTE support for iPhone 5 and I received updated carrier settings on my iPhone. As soon as they were installed so that it says "Enable LTE" instead of "Enable 3G", my whole status bar on the left side disappeared.
No Carrier logo, but much worse, no signal bar or wifi bar. But I do have signal... When I switch on "do not disturb" they appear again but disappear as soon as do not disturb is switched off again. So I can browse and call etc, but the status bar is just missing...
If anyone has any advice, please help! I tried resetting the phone, as well as switching it off and on again. More than once. No change.
I even restored my phone from a backup I made yesterday before the network settings have been updated.
I would be very grateful for any help.

THaNo I don't think its necessarily because of the 4G rollout.
My iPhone5 has a Orange/EE 3G sim card and contract.
This is what my theory is...
My iPhone5 is set to automatically select the best network. It can see the 4G EE network is available, but when it connects via my 3G sim card it glitches / nullifies the signal and just reports that weird 000-00.
Ever since I turned off 4G / LTE in settings I have not had the 000-00 error.
So now it isn't getting confused with 4G and 3G signals, it doesn't give the error.
So my theory is supported by my experience.
Out of curiosity, is everyone who is having this problem absoloutely sure they have 4G sims??? I got my iPhone on release day, as a new contract, assumed it was 4G and only found out after a customer service phonecall much later that infact the new contract I had taken out was only a 3G one despite it being a brand new contract with an iPhone5 (yet that was one of the selling points by Orange / EE.) -
3 Adobe Programs give me inconsistent numbers when covert to CMYK from Pantone Pantone+ Solid Coated?
I need help on figure out how to have exact number value when I use 3 programs, Adobe InDesign CS6, Illustrator CS 6,
And PhotoShop CS 6, and use PMS Swatch from Pantone+ Solid Coated in each program, and convert Pantone Color to CMYK,
the numbers are different significantly. I attached the example of how I converted PMS 424C to CMYK to illustrate.In CS6 and later the conversion of Pantone+ Solids to CMYK is color managed (Lab to CMYK), so the document's assigned CMYK profile and the app's Color Settings Conversion Options (Intent and Black Point Compensation) affect the conversion numbers and have to be matched up.
So below the assigned profile is Coated Fogra39 with a Relative Colormetric Intent and BPC turned on (the slight differences are because of the way the 3 programs round):
I think InDesign has a problem with color conversions via the Color panel, so I'm showing the InDesign Sep Preview panel with All Spots to Process checked in Ink Manager on the right. Changing the document's CMYK profile assignment doesn't reliably produce the correct conversion via the Color panel—looks like a bug and I haven't checked CC to see if it's been fixed.
Here is what I get with a conversion via the Color panel. l'm not sure where these numbers are coming from but it's not the right conversion to Fogra39:
The tool bar's Color Picker does make the correct conversion, so I think the problem is limited to the Color panel
The simplest approach is to leave Pantone Solids as spot colors and use Ink Manager to make the conversion when you export or print. -
Hi my iPhone 4S has no signal bars but shows the network carriers name and the 3G icon but just doesn't have no siganl bars but it was working fine till today then all of a sudden lost signal what do i do any help much appreciated
I've been experiencing with the same problem lately. Have you tried getting a new sim card?
With the new sim it seems to work well for a few days and then it goes back to the same problem. The warranty on my phone just ended about a month ago, and I've never dropped it and no water damage either. When I do a erase all and reset, it seems to work for a few days again and comes back to the same issue. I've deleted all my apps and been using the phone just as a phone and txting device. New IOS update doesn't seem to change this issue either. I've been getting by with doing a network reset and turning it off and on a few times a day.
Anyone have any solution? Much appreciated! -

algeriaOkay, got my phone back from the store I originally bought it at (the Swedish equivalent to Best Buy), and they had tried charging it with an iPhone-charger with no results. However, when they tested with an off-brand charger, it started working again. I wonder why that is.
When I got home, it was on 98% and I plugged it in with my regular charger just to see if I would really need to go out of my way to buy a completely different charger. It charged up to 99%, and I then unplugged it. I will wait and see if the problem re-occurs, but as it looks now, I probably won't be needing to get the battery changed nor book an appointment with the Genius Bar I'll check in here again if that were to happen, to give my review of the Genius Bar!

Hi. I have unlocked not jailbroken IPhone 4. It is currently running IOs 5.1 on baseband 04.12.01. Two days ago i went and got myself a new vodafone UK sim card from the shop. (i got the phone from friend of mine who got it form Vodafone UK shop Pay as You go) I put the sim in the phone, the carrier on the top came: Vodafone Uk but i don't have any signal bars. Also the 3G on the phone is working normaly but i dont have any signal, i cant call anyone on text anyone its just the 3G working properly. I went different playces to see is the problem only where i lived, i went to the next town and the next one.....NO CHANGE. I restored the IPhone because i thought that is some bug with the phone and maybe this will clear it and help me...NO LUCK. When i restored the Itunes told me: congratulations your Iphone is been unlock. I was happy but i know its unlocked iphone so no big a deal. I left it in the computer for 24 houers because i thought that will help but again NO LUCK. So i thing is a baseband problem but i dont know. Any advice you can give me. Thanks VASTI

It is very much possible that you bought an Internet only SIM card.
