Signature bar

I can't get rid of the signature bar that now shows up every time I open a pdf. I can't uninstall Adobe Reader x or replace with a previous version that didn't have this problem. Really a pain

This feature has been introduced in 11.0.03. Refer to release notes
Acrobat and Reader now intelligently detect if a document may need to be signed. On successful detection, a document message bar appears with a button “Open Sign Pane” which on clicking opens the right-hand Sign Pane.

How can i add graphics to email signature

When I copy an HTML email signature into my ipad signature bar in settings. I pasted and shook and undid. I can see it fine. It was even visible when i sent my self a test to my Windows laptop. But it works intermittently. When I went to reply to an incoming emial, it failed again to shoe the graphic, only the text.

Set your Graphics App as an external editor in iPhoto

There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

Digital Signature and Annotation Appearance Stream

Hello,
I've noticed that adding an annotation on a pdf without specifying an appearance stream ( AP dictionary ) for that annotation, and then signing the document,
will cause Acrobat to report that the document is Signed and all signatures are valid, but with Annotations Modified message under the signed revision in the signature panel.
So is that behavior by acrobat, while appearance stream entry is optional in annotations ?

I was eble to add an ink annotation with an appearance stream, and then signing the document with digital signature goes fine with no problems
( No "Annotations Modified" ) message appearing in the signature panel, but adding a freetext annotation with an appearance stream and then signing, is causing acrobat to show "At least one signature requires validating" message in the signature bar, and by validating the signature manually by pressing "Validate All" in the signature panel, the original problem appears again stating "Annotations Modified". So is freetext annotations should be considered in a different way than other annotation types ?

Signature in preview won't drag in.

Any suggestions on dragging a signature from the signature box into a document in preview? I can't get it to work. Other functions such as add text work fine. loading the signature works fine. The signature highlights when clicked it just doesn't go into the document. Any thought?

Sorry about the assumption step by step:
I opened preview, opened the annotation bar opened clicked on the signature box, clicked "create signature from built in iSite camera" this brought up a Signature Capture dialog box. I confirmed that “Save this signature for use after Preview quits” is checked. I took out a piece of paper, and signed it. I held the piece of paper up to the iSight Camera, and adjusted the position of the paper until the camera recognizes and displayed my signature. Clicked on the Accept button to save the signature.
Then I opened a pdf. Again, I clicked on the signature bar under annotation, my signature was present, I clicked that - it highlighted as I tried to drag it the signature box closed and the signature did not appear in the document.
I then restarted the preview, restarted the computer and checked for updates - none of which had the desired effect. I am able to add text to the document such as the date.
Any suggestions?

Adding Signature

I have a PDF of an author agreement form. I am unable to add an e-signature from a separate PDF file (cut/paste to form).
When I click on the signature box, I get the 'Add Digital ID' pop-up with 3 options, one of which is to use an existing file. The other 2 options don't apply. When I select this option and then 'Browse' for the file, the pop-up window looks for a PFX file and the e-sig is a PDF file. I cannot re-save the file as a PFX file; that option is not given.
QUESTION: How do I add an e-sig to the signature bar of this Adobe Acrobat document?

It sounds like a graphic of your signature is in the PDF file and this is different that the PFX file. The PFX file is an existing digital ID file on your system, which is encrypted and stores a secure certificate. If you don't have an existing digital ID, I would create a new one in Acrobat X. Then once you've created this, you can add the PDF file as the appearance on your digital signature. Here is a Quick Tip that explains how to add your PDF as the appearance on your digital signature.

Signature Prefs: Stuck on 'NONE'

I have no signature option in Mail because the signature preferences have a Choose Signature bar at the bottom, but mine's grayed out. It's stuck on none. I have no way of selecting the default signature.
What to do?

I, too, ran into this problem after upgrading to Snow Leopard. I had other email issues with Mail after the upgrade (wouldn't send/received, would close immediately after I sent a reply). Apple helped me fix the mail issues, but later found I couldn't get the "signatures: NONE" drop-down to activate (my signatures were never lost, I just couldn't get them to work). I followed Daniel's and 2point5's advice and it worked perfectly. Thanks!

Problems trusting certificates from other users

I'm unable to trust certificates from users when the email address on their certificate does not precisely match the From address of the message. The mismatch is typically something like a From address of [email protected] and a certificate address of doe.john.12345.
Mail says "Unable to verify message signature" when I select the message. I click "Show Details" followed by "Show Certificate". I then get an option to check "Messages from xxx are valid if signed by yyy", which I do followed by clicking "OK".
The yellow "Unable verify message signature" bar stays in place. Repeating the above process shows that the the option to trust the validity is again unchecked. However, in the area with certificate, it lists that the certificate is trusted for the email address in the From field.
Any idea what's going on here?

I should add that this happens when using certs that were signed with a CAC. I have an ORC ECA cert.

Acrobat XI switch between form design & form view

I just started creating programmable forms in XI (I know how to do it in 8, but we upgraded!).
I've got the form done, but in order to work with form fields and such, the only way I can find to get back to editing it is to do the following.
With the form open in Acrobat, click:
Create
Create Form
From Existing Document
Current Document
click Continue
To go from editing to viewing the form, it's just a matter of clicking on Close Form Editing.
Is there an easier way to switch back and forth, from viewing into editing???

This is a good time to mention some other keyboard accelerators that were added to Acrobat 11 but aren't documented anywhere that I know of (apart from the A key). I think the lack of documentation is unintentional, or else I'm just not seeing it in the usual places. These are available in form editing mode.

ITunes U Sending Different URLs when Retrieving RSS Feed

We have a .aspx page that generates RSS feeds for all of our classes on iTunes U, some of which are private and some public. For the private classes, we're checking the signature iTunes U sends along in the URL to make sure the request is coming from iTunes before giving back the RSS feed for the class (with the correct content type), otherwise we return a 403 status.
The problem we're encountering is that iTunes is sending 3 different URLs when entering the RSS feed address in iTunes.
For example, one of our rss feed URLs might be http://www.sitename.edu/rss.aspx?classid=10 .
iTunes U is sending requests to
http://www.sitename.edu:80/rss.aspx?classid=10,
http://www.sitename.edu:80/rss.aspx?classid=10&time=foo&userID=foo&signature=foo ,
and
http://www.sitename.edu:80/rss.aspx?classid=10&time=foo&userID=foo&signature=foo &time=bar&userID=bar&signature=bar .
The first and third URLs both fail our check. As of a couple of weeks ago iTunes U was pulling in our private feeds just fine, but this week when we put in a URL iTunes U fails to get the feed with an error ("iTunes U could not update the content because iTunes U could not reach the specified feed. Verify the feed specified in the feed URL field is available, and then try again."), presumably because of the 3 different URLs it's sending at the same time. (We haven't changed the way our feed works in that time.)
We're using Type: Feed, Security: None, Signature: Append SHA-256 Signature, Check for changes: Daily, and I'm entering the URL into iTunes U as http://www.sitename.edu/rss.aspx?classid=10 .

Any word on this? The only people that could really check on this are at Apple. From the documentation, it's pretty clear that the only URL iTunes U should be sending is the one with one time, userID, and signature, plus it was working until the multiple URLs started being sent.
We really can't leave off the security check because of copyright issues (students in the class are legally allowed to view the materials but anyone outside is not).

Frustrations with recent purchase attempt

Recently I made an attempt to purchase an item with the help of an in store associate only to end up extremely frustrated and unsure if I can even get an order processed at the original pricing. I was trying to purchase an open box iPad Mini 2 128GB for $449.99 and an open box iPad Mini Smart Case for $51.99. Both items were shown as available on your website and in your system at the time of purchase. I had an in-store coupon for $50 off a $500 purchase (no restrictions listed on the coupon), so with the help of the associate I was able to get the order placed with the coupon applied. Since the coupon didn't have a scanable bar-code or sku to enter, the $50 was taken off of the price of the iPad Mini reducing it to $399.99. The next day my order was cancelled because the items weren't available to ship. When I investigated further though, both items are still available for purchase on your website. Unfortunately now the price has increased to $464.99 and I don't have any way to apply the $50 coupon since I already turned it in when the original order was placed. I spent 2 hours and 10 minutes on the phone with customer service last night, getting transferred over a dozen times and disconnected a few times as well. Each time I was transferred, I had to start the conversation over again and seemed to end up with someone who either didn't have the knowledge or authority to help. Finally I was able to get a helpful associate on the line at about the 2 hour mark, but after walking through the situation with him in an attempt to get my order reinstated at the original price I was told that I needed to go back to the store and have them help me resolve the issue. Since I needed this item for a birthday present, I went ahead and replaced the order on my own (without the coupon applied) with the verbal consent from the associate at the local store who said that they might be able to go back and give me a $50 credit after the order is complete if I bring everything back into the store. As of today, my order is still in a processing status and I still don't know if it is going to be processed. With over 3 hours invested into making what should be a simple purchase, this has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I have ever been involved in.

Should we upgrade from Acrobat X Pro to Acrobat XI Pro?

One of our team member who is in charge of creating the pdf form is leaving. Currently he is using Acrobat X Pro, and we are thinking to move forward with Acrobat XI Pro. Are there any features that avaialble in the Acrobat X Pro are no longer available in the Acrobat XI Pro? Are there any glaring things that we need to watch out before moving from Acrobat X Pro to Acrobat XI Pro?

Acrobat 11 has a number of new features that will appeal to people who work with forms. You can now turn off the automatic reordering of the tab order when fields are moved/added/edited, and you can select multiple fields at once when changing the tab order. I think it's worth the upgrade price for these features alone.
Note that LiveCycle Designer, which previously came with Acrobat Pro, is no longer included, and it is actually uninstalled from your system when you install Acrobat 11. You are supposed to be able to get a free update of Designer by submitting a form.
There are also a number of new keyboard shortcuts when in form editing mode that are helpful, including:
