Signatures broken by 10.2

After upgrading to 10.2 on my iMac, I find that Signatures no longer work correctly.
If I am replying or composing a new messge I find that when I go to insert (or change) a signature, Mail.app wants to stick that signature into the middle of my message, usually deleting multiple lines or a paragraph of the existing message!
This happens no matter where the cursor is located, and no matter how long the message is.
I have several different signatures which I routinely use, as well as have the "default" signature selected in preferences.

Here is my issue - I am a Comcast user - I converted from Comcast's router/modem ( I have two macs - one Imac and one new black macbook) - I purchased my own Motorola modem with the intent of installing an Airport Express as I wanted to be able to print wirelessly from both computers and Comcast's router/modem doesn't' support that - I have had flawless service from my two macs and Comcast for the most part.
When I made the conversion this week the internet fired up perfectly - fast as **** and everything connects great - However I cannot get Mail to work at all - I have along with Comcast replaced every setting and done it over and over - we've gone from port 410 to 587 to 25 etc - nothing has worked - I am receiving mail into the Comcast server but am not receiving Apple mail nor can I send - it seemed that sending worked for a while now that's out too
Ironically - the Apple Hot News RRS feeds are working fine as I'm receiving those from Apple
Any suggestions for solving this would be most helpful and appreciated - of course I'm out of my 90 phone tech warranty and do not purchase Apple Care - but would gladly pay most anything to get this resolved -
Thanks
Steve

Why does an email sent from an iPad or iPhone to ms outlook appear with attachments? Example: signatures at the bottom of the mail tend to be broken down into a series of unwanted attachments!

It worked for me. I took a picture with the iPhone's camera. Then opened the Photos app and selected the picture, and emailed it from one of my IMAP accounts to my gmail (also IMAP) account. When it showed up in the gmail inbox (on my iPhone), I forwarded it to my yahoo mail account (choosing the "inlcude attachments" option). When that showed up on my iPhone's yahoo inbox, the picture was there just as it should be.
So I guess the next thing would be to try it with non-iPhone pictures to see if it is a problem with image size or something. I have some 6-megapixel images in iPhoto I can try (taken as RAW/DEC format pictures with my dSLR).
Just tried it sending a Photo from my computer's iPhoto library - picture is 728KB, 2272x1704 jpeg. I emailed it to my gmail account, and it showed up on the iPhone just fine. Then I forwarded that to my yahoo account and again, it showed up just fine on both the iPhone and reading my yahoo mail via the web page.
Don't know what to say - I don't mean this to be just another "works for me" post. I was hoping to see something maybe depending on the size and origin of the picture.
By the way, my 3GS shipped with 3.0.1 on it, and I've updated it via iTunes normally to 3.1.1 and currently 3.1.2. Sorry I don't have anything constructive to add.

  • Broken Signature Help

Please forgive me this I have posted this in the wrong section. I'm at a loss of what to do and if this is serious at all. When I scanned my computer with AVG Internet Security this came up: C:\Program Files\Toshiba\TOSAPINS\COMPS1\Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility (3264bit)0\MANUAL\B27611B.EXE Info: the file is signed with a broken signature, issued by: TOSHIBA AMERICAN INFORMATION SYSTEMS. The laptop I have is a Satellite L305-S5894

Downloaded the setup file using Firefox. Located the file using Windows Explorer. Ran/opened the installation program but at the STATUS: COPYING NEW FILES this prompt appeared: "The cabinet files 'iTunes.cab'required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-Rom, or a problem with this package."
Hmmmmm. So, it's looking like something damaging the installers on the way down to your PC. On IE it manifests as digital signature issues ... with Firefox it's just a damaged installer.
Okay, experimental advice but it will do no harm. Although the following document is for a different sort of error, try the advice in it:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1814
(If the box is already checked, try unchecking and rechecking it.)
After that, can any of your browsers download an undamaged installer?

  • Broken Digital Signature

So in the process of updating my phone... some how or another it crashed because it would not even come on anymore so apple sent me another one... this time the mic didn't work... so apple sent me another one.. can't sync any apps or my contacts. An error message appears saying that one or more applications were not synced click the + for more info. I click the + and out to the side of each app it says app was not synced because app is not signed. When avg did a scan it reported that the digital signature was broken for iTunes. I have tried reinstalling iTunes ( the correct way) and still no luck. Does anyone else have a solution for this?

I get this message in the AVG Anti, should I be worry???
It's merely an oversight by Toshiba. Tell AVG to ignore the situation.
Or you can download the current version of the chipset software. The file has been updated.

  • Broken Signature

    I've had a heck of time turning on my computer the last couple of days.  I ran AVG and received this during the scan:  "C:\Program Files\Toshiba\TOSAPINS\COMPS1\Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility (3264bit)0\MANUAL\B27611B.EXE";
"The file is signed with a broken digital signature, issued by: TOSHIBA AMERICA INFORMATION SYSTEMS.";""
I read earlier to do a restore.  Did that...nothing.  Uninstalled IE8 as well...nothing.  Help!!!
I am running Vista and my model is L355-S7905.
    Thanks in advance
    Solved!

My computer is the Toshiba Satellite L350 series.  L355 to be exact, and I am using Vista.   After receiving the error message from AVG, and I don't know if this matters but I have the paid AVG program, not the free one.  I turned that program off and went to Windows Live Once care just be be sure it just wasn't something AVG had messed up.  But I received the same error message there.
    C:\Program Files\Toshiba\TOSAPINS\COMPS1\Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility (3264bit)0\MANUAL\B27611B.EXE";

Thank you Jerry for answering and taking the time to help me out.  I appreciate it very much.  Most of this computer stuff is a bit over my head.

Good afternoon. I have a problem with my laptop. The system tells me that I have a  broken digital signature. You don't have a problem. The message is bogus. Just tell your AV program to ignore that situation.
If the message disturbs you, tell us much more. Which AV program? Which Satellite L305? Exactly what does the following mean?

  • Signature photo broken when emailing from iPhoto

I have a photo above my name in my default signature in Mail. When I click the Email" button in iPhoto to send photos via email, my signature photo shows up as and icon that reads "Untitled (82kb)".
The photo in my signature works FINE if I create a new email, but not in the new emails that iPhoto creates with the pictures attached.
I added the photo to the signature field in Mail's preferences by dragging and dropping the .JPG file from the Finder. That, and copying and pasting seems to be the only way to put a photo in a signature. Neither method works when initiating an email from iPhoto.
    Mail 2.1
    iphoto 5.0.4
    Any ideas, anyone?
    Thanks!

    Marius,
set the mailer in the iPhoto Preferences to "Mail.app", not to "iPhoto"
    iPhoto > Preferences > General
              Email Photos using: Mail
This way you will be able to mail your photos directly from iPhoto, but you cannot use the iPhoto cards; use the Mail Photo stationary instead, once the mail panel opens.
For some reason mailing using iPhoto as Mailer works for me only, if I am mailing from my iCloud accoun,t and if Mail is set to use the iCloud account by default.

  • How can i add a picture/logo in my email signature?

Hello. I need to add a logo in my signature. How can I do this? I tried to upload but just get a red cross...
    Thank you

My guess is the problem with the square is being caused by incomplete or broken html in the Email Signature.  I think the Signature panel doesn't know how to fix HTML.  But the email app does... so this is why you copy a complete & pre-formatted email message: entirely.
I walked through the directions above, exactly, and it works with (in my case) even oversized JPG files in the signature.
By copy and pasting the whole message body, you'll retain the html formatting &, in my case, the image too.  Running iOS 8.1 & it worked after a few tries.
Keep trying combinations... you'll get it.

  • Digital Signatures: Multiple Tasks and Signers

    Hello, All-
Context: We have a repair and overhaul operation that has several technicians performing maintenance. Basic workflow: product comes in, gets the paperwork for the specific maintenance, and then travels through the facility to be broken down, serviced, rebuilt, tested, and returned to service. We would like the "paperwork" to be all electronic (which we can do with Acrobat by using PDF documents), but there are several tasks that require a technician's signature. Not a digital signature for the WHOLE document, just a task in the document.
Objective: Multiple technicians signing off on mutilple tasks, all in one document.
Questions: Can we modify the document (i.e., add/insert pages) in Acrobat after a digital signature is applied using the Reader? Do those signing off on the tasks only need the Reader to create and apply the signature files? Can multiple signature files be stored in a centralized location, since technicians use work station machines (rather than a computer issued specifically to them)?
Doing some investigation for the best solution. Sorry for the series of long questions.

    > "No. However, this can't be done in Reader under any circumstances... Reader is just that, a reader of PDF files. It can't edit them in any meaningful way, like add new pages (unless a special template was set up for this purpose)."
    - I should have clarified: we would like to modify the document using the full Acrobat Suite after digital signature. Signing once locks the entire document from further edits.
    > "Not 100% sure about that, but I think the answer is no. Signatures have to located on the local machine."
    - That's a problem: then every technician needs a digital signature on every machine. Not suitable at an enterprise/department level.
I just found an answer to the basic concept, as it was answered just yesterday (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1338837): I can leverge the Stamp feature and create a custom stamp to act as a signature. I can still modify the document after applying the stamp.
Now the test: can others remove my stamp?
Edit: Thanks for the help, BTW. I see you edited your answer to question #1. Again, maybe the stamp feature is sufficient?

  • "Damaged" and now can't reinstall Air.... with "broken digital signiture"?

When I restart, a window pops up and say my Air is "damaged" and I must uninstall and reinstall the program.
(Maybe it had something to do with my having done systerm restore, but not sure).
I uninstalled but cannot reinstall it now.  I can downlaod the file, but When I click the "run", it just disappear and it is not installed.
I ran AVG in case my computer was infected.  There is no infection, but it says the Air file which I downloaded
had "broken digital signiture".  What does it mean? And why I cannot download Air ?
By the way, there are many websites I cannot go, as basic as Facebook, and very slow and layout is odd.
Is this because my not having Air?

A digital signature works by storing a numeric representation of a file or set of files called a hash. If the files are changed, the hash also changes. If your digital signature is "broken" then this could mean that the file has changed since it was signed or it could mean that you computer, in the bad state that it seems to be in, can't compute the hash correctly. I assume you have rebooted at least once.
Microsoft has an install cleanup tool,  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301, that sometimes helps in situations like this.
And no, the presence or absence of AIR on your system has no affect on any websites.

  • Transparent signature in Acrobat 9.0

I have been trying to figure this out for several months now. I sure hope someone can help me out. I need to create a graphic signature with a transparent background for use in a pdf document. I have created a .png file with transparency, and all the background removed. The problem comes as soon as I bring it into Acrobat to create the signature, it adds a white background to it. I have tried every setting I can find but nothing seems to work. Is this a limitation of Acrobat Standard 9? I have gone through a dozen tutorials and the same problem occurs everytime I go to create the stamp or digital signature. Thanks.

Thanks for the help, unfortunately I already ran across that writeup but still no luck.  Actually, the link partway down the page that describes where I am stuck is broken.  Creating the transparent image I have no problem with, it is when I bring it into Acrobat that it loses the transparency.  I used photoshop elements 8 to create a transparent .png, a .gif, and a .pdf.  All show up correctly and transparent in elements, but none show up correctly in Acrobat.  As soon as I try and use it as my signature it gives it a white background.  I tried stamps as well, with the same result.
Good to know that Acrobat standard can do it, but for some reason I am missing some crucial detail here.

  • Acrobat 11.0.7 electronic signature error, "There was an error when attempting to commit this signature".

Since updating to Acrobat 11.0.7, the electronic signature function has broken. Users receive an error message when trying to insert an electronic signature "There was an error when attempting to commit this signature. The document was not saved. The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder. The document could not be signed. HFT error. This file is already open or in use by another application."
Error occurs even after saving the PDF locally and renaming. This issue is affecting multiple users and has never occurred in previous versions of Acrobat installed. Temporary workaround is to rollback users to Acrobat 11.0.6.

Can you try to manually download and install the update from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5000

  • Want insertion of Digital Signature not to require a save

I have an issue that I would appreciate someone's help on. I have been with Adobe Tech Support via their portal. Yet I have not been able to establish whether what I want to accomplish is doable.
What I have is a document that actually consists of several documents, which in aggregate comprises our application for persons wanting to drive for us. For the sake of this scenario please understand that the document is not to be broken up into multiple files. It is created as a single document to facilitate the management of the numerous applicants by in-house staff.
Anyway - this form has multiple digital signatures. The department head insists on this as each section of this document has information to be attested to as original and accurate. However, we find that only the first digital signature is used to certify the document, and any additional serve only in a "confirming" capacity.
So we have this document with multiple digital signatures, the first of which certifies the document and the remaining as "confirmation". And all of these digital signature fields are set as "required" in their properties. The form is developed and presented for testing. So we enter just one of the several digital signatures and attempt to save the file. What we expected to happen was the pop-up of a dialogue to point out that all of the required digital signature fields were not completed. But no such warning arises, and this circumstance "raises an eyebrow" or two within the firm, who expect this edit to appear.
Based on recommendations from Adobe support I go out to the developers site and research scripting. After several hours I come away with a script that will indeed spawn a message when any digital signature is missing. However, another problem arises. After closing out the dialogue box and inserting the first of several missing digital signatures I am immediately required to save the file. The save works and here we have the form with several digital signatures still not signed. This allows the user to forward on the form to us, at which time the file will be reviewed and returned to the user for further completion. And in the event that only one of several missing signatures is entered, and the file again saved and forwarded, this scenario has the potential of being repeated several times.
Is there any way through scripting for the insertion of the digital signature not to spawn a save of the document? Thanks!

Is there any isight as to how this is done?
I am currently opening a file from Teamcenter engineering, however if I try to save the file it complains there is another copy open elsewhere (which isn't true).  I have to export the file first, save it and then check it back in.  It seems to be the only area that behaves like this, as I am able to markup the document add pages, etc and save the document just fine.
If I could remove the save as function and just use "Save" I think that this would help.
    Appreciate any/all replies!
    Regards,
    Sean.
