Signatures in Entourage

The signaures I secified shows up when I send an email in Entourage. But if I reply to a message the signature shows up AFTER the text from the person that replied to me. How do I get it to show up after my "replied" text?

Since your post really isn't related to "Windows Compatibility," you might want to post your question to Microsoft's Mac Newsgroups:

  • Signature in Entourage question

I have a signature automatically setup to be included in emails. My issue is having them NOT be included automatically when I reply to someone. Most of the time I forget to not include it and end up having 5 images.
Is there a setting in Entourage where signatures will not be automatically included in replies or forwards?
    Thanks,
    Tom

I believe the only option you have to NOT include signature automatically is to edit the mail account where you have set up a signature and set the Default signature to "None" under Message Options.

Just moved my email from Entourage to Mail. Having real problems with getting my signatures to work properly despite sending email as Rich Text.
When adding in a small company logo to the signature, PC's / windows computers only receive signature and logo as attachments.
I've tried all possible fixes I can find including getting a PC user to format the logo but no joy. Has anyone experienced this and any ideas on a fix gratefully received.

Send it as html so the signature is an image source URL

  • Entourage/signature won't always appear

    HI
I have a problem with my email signature - each time I go to write a new email, or when I reply to an email, my signature does not appear.
I have set up my email signature, but it won't automatically appear.
I have OSX Lion and Entourage for MAC Version 12.
I have never had this problem before, and it was only when I bought my new Mac Book Pro a few months ago.
    Hope you can help.
    Cheers
    Margie

You might want to try quitting Mail and then going to ~/users/username/Library/Mail/ and moving the "Signatures" directory to your desktop temporarily (this is to save your existing signatures) and then launch Mail. It will rebuild the directory with a blank SignaturesByAccount.plist file. You can test to see if this fixes by creating a test signature quickly with the "Place signature above quoted text" checked. Choose an email to reply to and see if the signature is in the correct place.
If you had an elaborate or multiple signatures, you can double-click on the webarchive files in the original "Signatures" directory that was moved and they will open in a Safari browser window. Simply copy and paste them into Signatures preference and apply to your accounts as desired. Feel free to safely delete the moved "Signatures" folder from your desktop. Also, you may come across an older Signatures.plist in ~/users/username/Library/Mail directory. That was from older versions of Mail and it is safe to delete.

  • Importing emails, signatures and contacts from Entourage

I've been trying to find a way to import emails, signatures and contacts from Entourage to mail. I want to change accounts so I can eventually use mobileme in the office I'm working at but don't want to have to go through the arduous process of having to copy everything manually into mail.
Has anyone found a fool-proof way of doing this yet ?
    Thanks & cheers, Jan

Just imported everything myself for Entourage X a few weeks ago.
iCal will directly import Entourage's calendar.
Address book can be done to ways. In Entourage, open Address book, under the file tab select export contacts. This will save a .txt file on the desktop which can be imported by mail. Another way is to create a folder on the desktop, then highlight and drag all Entourage contacts to the folder which can also be imported. Either way, if you have more than one email address per contact, you may have to cut and paste those manually.
Mail will import email from Entourage directly. I had to import several times to get everything. In Mail under the File Tab, just click import mailboxes and select Entourage. Another window will open and you are able to pick which Entourage folders to import. All are selected initially.
As far as signatures, you most likely will need to cut and paste those manually.

  • Entourage- Signature help

I am using Entourage and was wondering if there is a software out there that helps you make more dynamic signatures? My email signature is very plain and boring!
    Thx

What exactly do you want to do? I use Entourage, and my signature contains bolds, underlines and 3 different colors. You can do the same...

  • CSS html signatures in Microsoft Entourage

    Hi,
I have found a site that shows how to do it in mail but i am wondering if its do-able in Entourage.
    Please help.
Essentially i wish to have a live text signature and a graphic on the right of that text. All i can see is the text goes either above or below the graphic, not next to.
    Cheers.

Setting 'Entourage' to send messages as HTML:
    01. Select 'Entourage's 'Entourage, Account Settings...' (or 'Tools, Accounts') menu item.
    02. Click once on the e-Mail address your AppleScript message will be sent 'from', and then the toolbars' 'Edit' icon button (or double click on the e-Mail address). The 'Edit Account' window will appear.
    03. Click on the 'Options' tab.
    04. Under 'Header' enter ...
    content-type
    05. Under 'Value' enter ...
    text/html
    06. Click the 'OK' button of the 'Edit Account' window.
    07. Close the 'Accounts' window.
Now, within your AppleScript code, you must surround your e-Mail messages' content with at least '<html>' and '</html>'.
A working example of your code is shown below.
    set vEmailAdd to "[email protected]"
    set strRecipientName to "ClientName"
set vClipboard to "This is a simple e-Mail message."
    set vEmailSubject to "TestInvoice"
    set vClipboard to "<html><body>" & vClipboard & "</body></html>"
    tell application "Microsoft Entourage"
set composeMessage to (a reference to (make new outgoing message with properties {recipient:{address:vEmailAdd, display name:strRecipientName, recipient type:to recipient}, content:vClipboard, subject:vEmailSubject}))
    send composeMessage
    end tell

  • Entourage - signature set up

    Hi
I've set up a signature no problems in entourage and it works fine when I'm sending an email as the logo is at the top and centred and the contact details in the signature is at the bottom.
However, when I reply to an email the signature goes to the bottom of the whole 'trail' which doesn't leave our logo prominent or our web address and contact details.
When i used the PC outlook program the signature could be setup as I want it (described above). COuld someone please let me know if entourage can be setup like this and how I might be able to do it.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Cheers
    margie

    Dear Margie,
if you go to Entourage - Preferences - Mail & News Preferences - Reply & Forward - then in the Mail Attribution section choose "Place reply at top of message and include From, Date, To and Subject lines from original message" it will do exactly what you want (and by the way the same as in Microsoft Outlook for Windows) so what we are all used to
    Hope that helps, regards,
    Ralf

  • Entourage reply - setting the signature to be at the TOP of message

    Hi
When I send out my emails the signature has the logo centred at the top of the message and then the signature at the bottom of the message.
When there is a thread going with the email, my replies look awful because the signature is now buried at the bottom of the email.
Is there a way to set this up so the logo and signature stay at the top of each message?
Thanks, I've tried to figure it out, but no luck.

Signatures are designed to be at the bottom of a message, and in a single location, so you can't have a reply signature place some items at the top of a message and others at the bottom.
It will stay at the bottom and there isn't much you can do about it unfortunately!
Why don't you format something that will look good at the bottom of a message and set different new message and reply signatures?

  • Switching from Entourage to ical, mail, and address book- duplications?

I am tired of the slowness of Entourage and was thinking of switching to all of the native mac programs. Any suggestions or comments on whether this is a good idea or not?
Also, will all of my information be duplicated. I have about 3 gigs of information and I don't want to needlessly store it if I don't need to. Can I get some advice on where to find and extract that information from the entourage program so I am not eating up disc space unnecessarily.
    Thank you.

Three weeks ago I switched from Entourage and Palm Desktop to Apple mail, address book and ical. It was a tad painful because I ended up with a lot of duplicates as I had email and some contact info in Entourage and several thousand contacts in Palm Desktop.
However after a couple of solid nights sorting out the duplicates all the contact info for each person is now in one place.
Word of warning though when you are checking address book entries make sure you keep backing up the changes (File - Backup address book) because for some inexplicable reason a couple of times all the entries in address book vanished.
Also the check for duplicates option in address book might be great for some but for me it created contacts that had their addresses and phone numbers duplicated several times.
After initial teething problems (getting used to the different programs) I am now pretty happy with the changeover. I am ecstatic to not be seeing the constant Entourage error message of 'your database is damaged and needs to be rebuilt' which entourage kept throwing at me (even after repeated rebuilds).
I have a Palm Treo and Address Book and iCal sync fine with that as well (after installing the conduit).
You'll also find in mail that you can't do as much snazzy formatting as you could with Entourage (ie numbered lists and bullet points) but hopefully Apple will address that in later updates. In the meantime if I'm desperate for formatting I write the email in rtf and paste it across complete with bluet points.
Sorry to drone on but wanted to give you some moral support.
Oh by the way the entourage data is stored in Home folder - Documents - Microsoft User Data - Office 2004 Identities - main identity - database (almost need a compass and flashlight to find it). To be on the safe side burn it to a dvd just in case and then trash it and all it's little friends (rules, lists, signatures and the other main identity folders.
    Good luck

  • Attachments versus signature when sending to Outlook

Based upon my research, I imagine people will say the problem is on the Outlook end of things -- but I still want to know if there's a way to solve my "attachment vs. signature" problem better than the wonky workaround I've developed.
FYI: we're running Mac OS X 10.6.6, and therefore have Mail 4.4.
I recently switched a number of my users from Entourage to Mail. Now when they send messages with attachments to Outlook users (tested both Outlook 2003 and 2010), the images appear inline instead of as attachments. I've determined this is because they are sending in HTML or RTF format. Plain text makes the files show up as attachments on the other end -- however, it also converts their signature from body copy into a TXT attachment, even if there's no formatting at all in the signature.
So I'm left with two options right now:
    1. Send in RTF or HTML format -- makes the signature show up right on the other end, but attachments appear embedded in the body. If you right-click on the image file and choose "save picture as", the save dialog box not only doesn't remember the original file name, but it also automatically defaults to BMP format, even if the original attachment was a JPG -- very bad!
    2. Send in plain text -- makes the attachments show up as actual attachments on the other end, but even a plain-text signature is converted into an attachment, which looks pretty stupid.
The only solution I can find that works 100% of the time is a pain to do.
    1. Write your message.
    2. Select all the copy (including your signature) and cut.
    3. Make sure the message is in plain text format (if it wasn't already).
    4. Click in the now-empty body and paste -- this combines the message you wrote and your text signature into one chunk of text with no "signature" attached.
    5. Click after the end of the message (also after the signature).
    6. Attach your images.
    7. Send.
I don't mind forcing my users to use plain text format all the time if it'll make attachments appear correct on the other end -- but having the signature converted into an attachment too is a hiccup I shouldn't have to also make them deal with. Does anyone know a better way around this?

  • I have OSX 7.2 Lion but cannot figure out how to setup a signature on apple mail for my emails.

I just converted to OSx 7.2 Lion and starting using the applle mail instead of Entourage because I got a I phone 4S so I wanted to use the cloud.  But I can not figure out how or if you can setup a signature to use when emailing.  I had it with Entourage and its kinda nice for business so you can put your company name or title after you name without having to type it everytime.  Anyone know if you can do it in Lion?

It's possible that the W2 you used was set up with the EchoSign service. It allows you to draw a signature with a mouse. This is available as well with more recent versions of Reader (10.1+) if the form isn't Reader-enabled or secured. You will see this in the Sign panel when the document is opened in Reader.
You can otherwise get an EchoSign account and upload your document and send it to your customers through the EchoSign service. You can establish a free account to see how it works.

  • Can't send mail with Signatures or Attachments

Since installing the Update 10.4.6, I have been unable to send email to my pop account which has either a signature or an attachment. I have cleared the caches using tiger cache cleaner (the reboot took forever and I had to cancel and restart so I'm not sure it worked). I have tried adding a new user. It doesn't work in Entourage either. I've read I need to reinstall mail - can you tell me how to do that? What else do you recommend?
Prior to installing the update, mail worked great for over a year!
    Powerbook G4 -12"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

The plot is getting thicker here. Mail will send mail without attachments, but as soon as i add an attachment, it will not send.
I have the same problem with Thunderbird, which i just installed. All my accounts are IMAP, aol or bought domain name email addresses.
ie email address ****@aol.com & *****@p****y.com, with standard smtp addresses. ie smtp.aol.com or smtp.p***y.com.
I set up mail on another mac in the house and it works fine. (thankfully these are imap accts which transfer easily). I cannot even attach in a web browser.
I have repaired permissions, updated all software, safe booted, tried another persons Imap acct, (still no success) and even tried the terminal fix.
My next step is to format and reinstall but not looking forward to that.
I became very concerned when i couldn't nail it by installing thunderbird.
The only change that has happened recently is that i have switched from ADSL to ADSL2+, still running airport although same problem occurs when hardwired directly to the modem. The problem solely lies in this computer (it is a black macbook).
I am absolutely baffled. Even connection doctor says all is well.
    Any thoughts?

I have cleared the caches using tiger cache cleaner. I have tried adding a new user account to mail. It doesn't work in Entourage either. I've reinstalled Mail. What else do you recommend?

    Additional Information:
Whenever I press the send icon, the mail message disappears, then in the activity viewer it gives the message “Delivering message / Sending data (28% done) and hangs there for a long time and finally gives the following message:
Cannot send message using the server XXX
Use the pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server. All messages will use this server until you quit Mail or change your network settings.
Whenever I send an email with text and a signature, the activity viewer it gives the message “Delivering message / Sending data (100% done) and hangs there for an extremely long time and finally gives the same message.

    Mario_MM wrote:
For sending mail the POP server is not important what you need to check are the settings of the SMTP server. Verify the settings of the SMTP server again and compare it to your settings on your iMac.
Checked SMTP settings and they are identical to the working iMac. I had not changed any settings on my MBP when it stopped sending, plus it did work briefly last night with those settings, so I don't see how it could have anything to do with my settings being incorrect.
The only thing even remotely different that I did prior to this happening was to use it away from home. I was out of town and used someone else's wifi to send some emails, but can't see how that should matter. It was the same ISP that I use at home, so I never even had to change settings for remote access. I never touched a thing, but when I got home I could no longer send emails.

  • KNOWN ISSUE: HTML Messages with plain-text signatures

To get around the EAS security policy issue, I'm having non-sensitive emails from work forwarded to a GMail account from a redirect set up in our corporate OWA. The redirect seems to send the messages to GMail without any issues; formatting is 100% intact, and in the GMail web client as well as Thunderbird, Entourage, etc., HTML emails with plain-text signature attachments show the plain-text message inline with the rest of the formatted message. All of our internal mailing lists have these plain text attachments that say where the message was coming from (Message sent from [email protected] by listserv). These get affixed to every message, both plain text and HTML.
Here's my problem: The Pre's email client handles both plain text and HTML messages beautifully. But, when I receive a message from a mailing list with a plain text attachment, the HTML portion disappears, and all I see is the signature.
Is there any way to make the Pre show the HTML INSTEAD of the plain text? I can live without the sig, I know where the messages are coming from already. But if I can't read the message, it's useless. I've only begun researching this and so far Google hasn't been much help, nor has searching these or other forums. Any help would be appreciated.

I just got off the phone with Palm Support. Apparently this is a bug in the mail application. It currently does not support parsing both HTML and plain text in the same message. It will read EITHER plain text OR HTML, but not both at the same time. This will be fixed in a future update.
