Signing problems with p12

Hi all,
I have a p12 file, i have done nothing with it bar place it in a directory for use with jarsigner.
I have a simple jar I wish to sign with the p12 file.
here is my script:
%JAVA_HOME%\bin\jarsigner -keystore test.p12 -storepass mypassword -storetype pkcs12 mytest.jar -alias "???"
Q1) Where does alias come from? Do i have to install the p12 file for this?
Q2) When i run it i get:
"jarsigner: Certificate chain not found for: -alias. -alias must reference a valid KeyStore key entry containing a private key and corresponding public key certificate chain."
Help much appreciated! I have exhausted google searching and can not get around my problems.

Don't know why. I just try creating a pkcs12 file and signing/verifying all OK. Can you post the output of "keytool ... -list -v" and "jarsigner ... file alias"?

    I've been trying to sign my extension with ucf.jar to make it possible to install the .zxp. I created a self-signed certificate using Keychain Access > Certificate Assistant in MacOSX and exported it to a .p12-file. When i try to build and sign the .zxp with:

    Couldnt find anything about this in the sign-toolkit-pdf.

    Sorry to hear you've been having problems with this - the next release of the signing toolkit should hopefully make things easier.
    For now, please try these two things:
    Download the latest version of the signing toolkit (which includes UCF.jar) from here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/sdk/eula_cs6-signing-toolkit.html
    Generate a P12 file using the keytool (e.g./usr/bin/keytool):keytool -genkey -alias ALIAS -keystore FILENAME.p12 -storepass PASSWORD -validity 3650 -keyalg RSA -keysize 2048 -storetype pkcs12

  • Can't sign adobe html5 extension - problem with certificate

    1. I want to package my html extension for photoshop CC.
    2. I have tried to use ZXPSignCmd to build and sign extension package.
    3. For self-signed certificate it works.
    4. Now we bought root signed certificate from GlobalSign but ZXPSignCmd fails when we try to use it:

    Unable to build a valid certificate chain. Please make sure that all certificates are included in the certificate file.
    We are sure that our certificate & password are correct (inside .p12 file we have 3 certs - root, intermediate and ours).
    We tried to use Adobe packaging tools: Configurator / Packager and each of them returns error that there is a problem with certificate. On the other side I was able to use ucf.jar to package another plugin with our certificate - so certificate is correct I guess.
    How we can package HTML5 Extension with manifest.xml and sign it with our certificate for Photoshop CC?
    We are trying to solve this for few hours so far but nothing seems to work...
    Please help.

    I know this is a late reply, but I thought I would chime in as I was getting the same "Unable to build a valid certificate chain. Please make sure that all certificates are included in the certificate file." error with our new Comodo code signing certificate.
    I originally received the code-signing certificate from Comodo as a .p7s file by downloading it from Comodo using Safari on Mac OS X Mavericks. I then imported it into Keychain Access (KA) by double-clicking the .p7s file after it was downloaded. From KA, I selected all of the certificates in the chain (by command-clicking each cert) and then exported them as single .p12 file.
    When using this the KA generated .p12 file I got the "certificate chain" error when using the ZXPSignCmd or ucf.jar tool. After way too many hours of head scratching, I decided to import the .p12 file created from KA into FireFox on Mac (v33.0.2) and re-export it from there. To import the .p12 into FireFox go to the import dialog: FireFox > Preferences > Advanced > Certificates Tab > View Certificates Button > Your Certificates Tab > Import Button. Once imported, export it back out as a .p12 file using the "Backup" button in the same dialog box. Yes, you are importing the .p12 just to re-export it as a .p12!
    Using the FireFox created .p12 works without error when using ZXPSignCmd and ucf.jar. I don't know if this a Keychain Access issue or if Adobe is just picky about how the .p12 file is created, but having FireFox do the .p12 creation worked for me.

  • How to sign in?  (problem with username and/or password)

    I created an account long ago for the Support Communities with an Apple ID:  xxx.mac.com.
    I created an account not so long ago for iTunes with an Apple ID:  xxx.gmail.com.
    Where they suppost to be the same?  Wasn't sure.  In any event, I've been using them both without a hitch.  Then I realized that I could have a password recovery problem with my Support Communities account because I haven't had the xxx.mac.com email address for several years now.
    Problem:  When I use my older Apple ID for Support Communities, it will not allow me to change my email to my current xxx.gmail.com address.  I suspect it recognizes the address is already being used with me newer Apple ID for iTunes.  My solution was to simply ditch the older ID and try signing in with my newer ID.  Unfortunately with that route, I get:
    "We're sorry.  Your account could not be created due to system issues.  Please contact Apple Support Communities with the information below to create your account."  [Which I've done, but no response.]
    Questions:  Are the ID support to be the same or different?  Either way, it doesn't really matter to me, but I either need to update my address for the older ID or be able to use my newer ID in Support Communities.  Because of this, I'm unable to use any type of email notification and I'm afraid I could have a problem with password recovery if I were in that position.

    Problem solved and completely my error.
    My login with the old Apple Discussions was [email protected]  At some point, with the new Apple Support Communities, some time ago, I was prombed to create a new account and I did so.  My username was simply "xxx" without the "@mac.com".
    So that was the problem.  My old [email protected] still had my old address.  I kept logging in with this ID and kept trying to update my address.  Where I thought it was recognizing that this address was already used with my iTunes account, it was because it was used with my newer Support Communities ID (xxx) that I didn't even remember I had created.
    Turned out it was something so simple.  (I hate when that happens.)  I had to play my "idiot card".
    Thanks to Apple support for the direct email correspondence that finally got me on the right track.

  • Problem with Maverics: Can not sign in to App Store, Mac slow, Aperture not working

    I was using a Mac Book Pro 15" supplied with Snow Leopard. I have created an ID and used it to purchase apps such as Aperture. After buying an iPhone 5S, I wanted to share the contacts and was suggested by the seller to upgarde the Snow Leoprad to Maverics and use the iCloud. After installing the Maverics following happened:
    - I can use iCloud and share the contacts, mission completed
    - the Mac is running slow, really slow (as an old pc)
    - Aperture can not be used, a major problem since all of my photos are stroed on an external disk via Apeture
    - I can not sign in to App Sore to refresh my purchases and see if there is an update for Aperture
    - I tried to sign in by clicking the forgot password and entering my ID (e-mail address) but have received no mail - total mistery
    - I also see that the HP 7610 printer icon is not active and assume that will also be a problem
    What should I do? I need a fast running computer. I need Aperture, all of my private and business photos are accessible only via Aperture. I can sign in with the same ID/password on an iPad. The problem is obviously due to installing the Maverics. I do not have a time machine/capsule.
    Urgently need support, please help.

    Correction: I did correctly enter my Apple ID and its password. And there are no parental controls.
    But I found a fix: I went to the Featured page and it showed me as logged in. I clicked the Account link and in the pop-up for that entered my Apple ID and Password. Now I can once again see my Purchases.
    It would seem to have been some undue delay or glitch at the Apple server end.

    If there is no loading bar, it's usually a problem with a third party kext file in OS X itself.
    You can press the power button down to force a hardware shutdown, then reboot holding the shift key down on a wired or built in keyboard, this will disable them and you go around and update your third party software.
    Gray, Blue or White screen at boot, w/spinner/progress bar
    Also take this time to backup your users files off the machine if possible.

  • I'm trying to set up my Ipod, but when I go to sign in with an apple ID it says 'Could not sign in: there was a problem connecting to the server'.

    I just bought a 3rd generation ipod touch. It was professionally refurbished. I'm trying to set it up, and everything seems to be working fine, until we get to the wifi. I live on campus and our wifi is username and password protected. I signed in and everything seemed to work fine, and in the top left hand corner I have all the bars for wifi. However, when I go to sign in with an apple ID it says 'Could no sign in: there was a problem connecting to the server'. I've tried turning it on and off again, tried signing on to our wifi again, but it all isn't working. What can I do?

    I also encountered the same problem. Try using a different email address or try signing in later.

  • Problem with importing and creating self signed SSL certificate

    Mac Pro, 10.7.2 Server.  Attempting to import or create a self signed certificate for use as ichat.domain.com to encrypt iChat service.  Server is acutally called server.domain.com but has an alias of ichat.domain.com.  I understand that this is probably not best practice but I would like to keep things this way since we have one server, run multiple services on it, but want to continue to connect to each service at SERVICE.domain.com.  We have been using this type of mismatched certificate with success since 10.4 or so.
    I am working through setup of 10.7 Server to replace our 10.6 server. 
    Tried upgrade of 10.6 to 10.7 installation.  The installation made a mess of some services and our Open Directory, but did move the certificate over and allowed iChat service to function properly.
    Clean install and setup of 10.7 Server.  Exported self signed certificate, private key, and encryption password from 10.6 Server and functioning 10.7 upgraded Server.
    On import or manual creation of certificate get the following error:
    Error
    Check your server's logs for more information.  The error (code 5001) was: Expected SecKeychainItemImport to return a SecIdentityRef, but it did not
    Log shows:

    I have tried importing and manually creating other certificates with a variety of names with success.  I assume that there is something buried somewhere that is causing this particular one to be a problem.  Other than manually removing any remnants of the certificate from /etc/certficates I do not have any ideas what to try.  I am essentially ready to move this server to 10.7 except for this problem and would like to avoid a reinstall.

  • Problem with signing in to Ovi

    I downloaded the Ovi Store app on my N96
    When I login it says "you are signed in as dieter***" and a few seconds later it says: "Sign-in Failed, Check your username and password".  I triend about ten times, but it's always the same problem.
    I can use the PC client with this email address and password, so I'm sure it's the right password I use...

    Having the same problems. My login ID and password are saved and I automatically login when I go to Ovi store via icon on my 5800 so it isn't a problem with username, ID or password. It actually tells me at the bottom of the screen that I am logged in so the details are obviously correct. When I scroll through the pages or select an app to look at or downlaod it will work fine for a while but then I will start to get the message that login failed check your username/password etc even though I am logged in and it just gets stuck.
    It is really, really, really, really frustrating

    Hey, just have a problem with signing into my Skype account.
    When I try to sign in, its works for 10 seconds and after that signed out automatically (with message: You have been signed out). I tried to reinstall it and restart laptop, but nothing changed. Also changed password via skype official site...nothing(
    What else can I do, to make it works?

    This is the Resolution for this issue:
    1. End all the Skype process from Task manager
    2. Delete the Skype folder from %appdata% and %temp%
    3. Go to Program Data> Run> type C:\programData
    4. Delete the Skype folder from Program Data.         
    5. Re-launch skype and try again.

  • How do I fix sign in problem with my Yahoo hompage via Firefox browser

    The normal browser process, of course, is that when you click on the Firefox icon it opens the browser and automatically signs you in to your preselected home page. Unfortunately I have recently run into a problem with error messages popping up and obstructing this opening process.
    Special comment: It started occurring at about the same time my Yahoo mail account was breached and spammed and I had to change my password as a beginning move to counter the account security breach. I am not certain this incident produced my current problem, but it quite possibly related to the cause. It still remains that have to clear the problem, whatever caused it.
    These error pop up messages do not occur when I use the Internet Explorer or Chrome browsers, so it certainly appears to be a Firefox browser related issue. I have tried clearing all cookies, enabling and disabling all Java plug-ins and extensions, changing passwords, and nothing has had any effect.
    The first pop up window is headlined as, "[JavaScript Application]. It then cites my correct Yahoo username and is followed by this text; "(my username)- Invalid username/password combination. If you continue to get this error, try entering your email address as your username".
    Note: Entering my email address as a username did not help either. The username cited in the error
    message is the correct username as well.
    The second pop up window says,
    "We noticed you may have signed in or signed out in another window. Click OK to reload your page".
    Note: Clicking the "OK" button does not re-sign in the page. What does happen is that it reloads the generic MY Yahoo home page and then I have to manually sign in to get my personally customized My Yahoo home page.
    I have since upgraded to the most current Firefox browser version, but the problem remains the same.
    If anyone has any idea on how to remedy this sign-in issue I would appreciate hearing from you.

    If you had Firefox save your Yahoo password, first try deleting that here:

    The "signed out" message seems to be related to how Yahoo authenticates you. Some users have reported that disabling automatic proxy detection solves the problem, and it also resolves an issue of getting logged out every few minutes, if you have ever experienced that.
    To make the change:
    orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced
    On the "Network" mini-tab, click the "Settings" button, then choose "No Proxy" and OK your way back out.
    If your work connection requires you to use a proxy server, try the "Use system settings" option instead.

    Try closing all open applications in multitasking and power cycling the device.  Once this is done test the results.  If the issue persists, I have included a couple troubleshooting articles that I would recommend going through.

    If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
