Silent Install of Jinitiator on Windows XP

I am trying to perform a silent install of Jinitiator but it does not work. It just runs the installation normally asking me to click next, etc ...
I am running the following command:
Jinit13118.exe -s -sm
and/or
Jinit13118.exe -s -sms
Neither work.
Any help would be great, thanks

  • Problem with silent install of 11gR1 on Windows 2008

I'm doing a silent install of 11gR1 on Windows Server 2008. It works fine on Windows Server 2003. I have SECURITY_UPDATES_VIA_METALINK set to false, yet it seems to be forcing it to true and then it fails the install because I have an invalid metalink username/password. In the install log I get this, as expected:
INFO: Setting variable 'SECURITY_UPDATES_VIA_METALINK' to 'false'. Received the value from response file.
but then I get this later on:
INFO: Setting the value of SECURITY_UPDATES_VIA_METALINK to true
INFO: Setting variable 'SECURITY_UPDATES_VIA_METALINK' to 'true'. Received the value from a code block.
SEVERE: Invalid MetaLink credentials. Specify the correct e-mail address and password that you use to log in to MetaLink.
    INFO: User Selected: Yes/OK
Invalid MetaLink credentials. Specify the correct e-mail address and password that you use to log in to MetaLink.
Why is it forcing this to true? As I said, this same exact response file works fine with Server 2003. Any suggestions?
Oh, also, I've tried forcing the value to false on the command line and by not specifiying a value (because the default is supposedly false).
    Thanks in advance

Here is the command line I used on the last attempt:
setup -silent "ACCEPT_LICENSE_AGREEMENT=true" -responseFile C:\database\standard11.rsp -waitforcompletion -nowait
And here is the response file (I had to delete a lot of the comments to get it to fit within the 30000 character limit for this message):

  • Silent Install of CS3 on Windows 7 64 Bit

    Hello!
I am with a School District and need to package CS3 for deployment to a lab.  The research that I've found makes it sound very easy using the line
    "setup.exe" --mode=silent --deploymentFile="install.xml" --skipProcessCheck=1
and with our 32 bit XP machines it works great, no issues there.  We also have machines that are Windows 7 x64 and the same command line does not work at all.  With in a minute of execution it kills with exit error code 7.
I've found some other properties to add within the install.xml file
    <Property name="INSTALLDIR">C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe</Property>
    <Property name="os64Bit">1</Property>
This unfortunately didn't work either.  I'm not too surprised since in the log file it shows repeatedly that it is trying to install to program files (x86) anyway.
Can someone that has done the silent install on a 64 bit machine help me out at all (or anyone with any other ideas )??
    Thanks for any help!!

    Hi skat,
Firstly i would advice windows 7 as such wont support, there are work arounds to install or mount on it but in long run it causes problems.64-bit is not supported for administration tool.
If it is other OS also admin tool should be installed only on 32-bit .......hope oracle releases it on 64-bit too in short time with only admin tool alone to get installed.
On windows 7 installation you get many blogs or forums to get installed.......Better to install on windows 2003/2008 server which output you better.
    hope helps you understand.
    Cheers,
    KK

  • Silent Install using ResponseFile for Windows XP

    Hi,
Does anyone know or have any custom responseFile that works? I have tried many times to do a custom install using the clientcustom.rsp from the CD and also from record mode but not all components seems to install correctly eventhough the log said it installed successfully. Especially the Oracle Universal Installer component.
    please help
    thanks

Here is a copy of a customclient.rsp file that I used to successfully install/uninstall Oracle 9i Client. Please note that the problem I have is determining when the silent install finishes. The install gets launched as a background task.

  • Silent Install of j2re-1_4_2_03-windows-i586-p.exe ???

I have tried to do a silent installtion of j2re-1_4_2_03-windows-i586-p.exe with this command line syntax :
    j2re-1_4_2_03-windows-i586-p.exe /S /v/qn"ADDLOCAL=ALL IEXPLORER=1 INSTALLDIR=C:\java\jre REBOOT=Suppress JAVAUPDATE=0 /L C:\temp\javainstall.log"
The installation process starts what I could see in Task Manager a process called " j2re-1_4_2_03-w" starts but dissapear in 10 sec and the installation does not continue what I could see. No installation directory has been created and no log etc.
Do anyone have any clue what could be the issue here, do I use wrong syntax etc ??
We are going to use Sun Java runtime instead of Microsoft Java Virtual Machine, when that is going to be unsupported Sept 30 -04.

The correct syntax for the command line should be
    j2re-1_4_2_03-windows-i586-p.exe /s /v"/qn ADDLOCAL=ALL IEXPLORER=1 INSTALLDIR=C:\java\jre REBOOT=Suppress JAVAUPDATE=0 /L C:\temp\javainstall.log"

I am attempting to create an automated install of this application using the silent switches etc
    e.g /s /v "/qn ADDLOCAL=ALL IEXPLORER=1 INSTALLDIR=D:\java\jre"
However I am unable to get the switches to work. I am prompted with the user dialogs such as Licence Agreement and the type of install
    Any ideas
    Kevin

    Immediately upon installing
    j2re-1_4_2_04-windows-i586-p.exe, I get the "blue
screen of death" on Windows 2000This is the usual symptom of a video driver problem.
Make sure you have all the latest service packs for Win2K installed, and for good measure, visit your graphics card vendor's site and get the latest drivers from there.

  • Unattended silent install script fails on Windows 7 x64

    Hello,
We are an IT managed services provider and use RMM tools like Kaseya and LabTech to manage our clients' machines.
We are trying to write a deployment script to deploy and/or update Java on Windows XP/7 machines. We are having difficulty deploying Java in silent mode on Windows 7 x64 using our RMM tool and thought you would be able to shed some light as to why this happens. We can successfully silently deploy Java on Windows 7 x86 and Windows XP using the RMM tool, together with other software like Acrobat Reader, Flash player and Firefox.
When we manually run the installer with the /quiet switch through the command prompt, installation completes successfully. However, when we use our RMM tool to deploy Java with the same switch, installation hangs: when looking at Task Manager, the Java installer hangs indefinitely and must be manually killed. Also, the installer runs as the SYSTEM user, if that makes any difference.
Can anyone advise what is the reason that the installer hangs and doesn't complete the installation?
    Thanks.

    Hi
I experience the exact same problem. Erez - did you find a solution?

  • Silent Install of Acrobat Pro 7.0 fails with Error 1404

    Hi,
I'm trying to silently install Acrobat Pro 7.0.
I have created the MST using the Installshield Tuner 7.0, and use the following command line to install:
    msiexec /i acropro.msi TRANSFORMS=mytransform.mst /qb
I am getting the following error message:
    Error 1404.Could not delete key
    \software\Classes\CLSID\{CA8A9780-280D-11CF-A24D-444553540000}
Verify you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
If i repeat the command without the /qb, and do a manual install (msiexec /i acropro.msi TRANSFORMS=mytransform.mst), it installs without error, so the problem only exists in a silent install.
    System Specs:
Windows XP SP2 with all MS patches to march 2007
    Acrobat Reader 8.0
Base image created by SYSprep, and then using Altiris Rdeploy.
I'm suspecting that a MS patch has locked down that part of the registry, and the Acrobat Pro MSI doesn't have the code to handle this in a silent install.
I have opened the MSI using Wise installer Pro, and can't see anything strange in it.
Any help/pointers would be a great help
    Thanks,
    -Mark

    Hi,
Just Pro 7.0.0 (I'll integrate the patches to 7.0.9 later)
I'm not keen on an Admin install, as this poses problems when patching (i.e. you have to do a "reinstall=All"). I prefer to integrate released patches into the silent install package, and for subsequent patches, just package them for silent install and push them down to the client.
Reader 8.0 is on the machine only.
The base build contains Reader 8.0, the we deliver a package to the machine to silently install Acrobat Pro 7
    Thanks,

I got the Mac install of design premium to work. It is done the same way as the windows side. I pulled a couple of bonehead moves while testing, but i got it to work. First, be sure to use the mac install and uninstall.xml files. The codes are different from the windows version and you use a different install path. The override file is the same except you need to put in the mac serial number. Be sure to install on a clean machine for testing (no uninstalls or failed installs of anything adobe). • Silent install of Quicktime disable update

I need to push silent install of Quicktime to Windows Domain workstations (XP and 7). This install needs to be without user intervention and at the same time disable the auto update option. Are there command line switches that will allowt this to happen?

  • How to handle "/9.2.0/root.sh as root from another window" in silent instal

    Hi,
I was successful to start a silent installation of Oracle9iR2 using a responsefile on my System RHEL 3. But the installation ends soon and a wrong successful install message:
Error :*** Alert: A configuration script needs to be run as root before installation can proceed. Please leave this window up, go run /opt/app/oracle/product/9.2.0/root.sh as root from another window, then come back here and click OK to continue. ***
The installation of Oracle9i Database was successful.
I use -ignorePatchConflicts for ignoring the patch conflicts. But How do I handle these issues. Where I have to run root.sh ... etc in teh Non Interactive Install.
I am scripting solution for non interactive install and manual intervention to run these root.sh shell scripts at different points of install is not a good idea as it wont help me automate the install.
Please let me know if anyone has solved this problem with -silent install.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thats me (OP) again:
    I tried setting:
SHOW_ROOTSH_CONFIRMATION=false in the response file. But still no help. The installation exits at run root.sh prompt point. How I can effectively deal with it in a script?

  • Automatic/Silent install only 4 components of JES, on Windows

    From setup.bat we have: Windows\setup.exe /v"/Liwrmoeau! %temp%\SUNJavaES.log MAINJES=Yes" %1 %2 %3
Is it possible to 'automatically' select /install only 4 components : Directory Server, Administration Server, Web Server and Access Manager?
    Automatic configuration is very good.
Maybe instead of MAINJES=YES we can pass other options.
Or maybe it is possible to have a config file ...
What we try is to have a 'faster' installation and configuration of JES, with less clicks from the user.

I'm glad you like the automatic configuration :)
You can automate your specific scenario using the 'silent install' mode
    http://docs.sun.com/source/819-1652/instsilent.html
Basically you want to run the installer in a 'record' mode and select
the config options and products that you care about. In your case, you would choose, 'Custom -> Configure Automatically -> select the subset of products' you want. once you are done, the response file will be created which you can (edit if needed) use for subsequent installs
