Simple installation and application launching

Is anyone else wondering about this too?
(I'm referring to pdas running variants of windows.)
User finds an application on a web page.
User does not know or care that it is a Java application.
User clicks on 'download' button.
Simple, straightforward click-through.
Application becomes visible in 'My Programs'.
Click once and the application launches.
The user can be assumed to have the ability to download and double click on a .exe (not .jar), or download and copy to a given location. Any such file, must be singular.
The jvm must be bundled. It's installation must be transparent. Ideally it should not be seen by the pda as a separate application.
Does anyone know how to do this? HInts? Recipes?
I don't care how tediuous or hacky this is. Only that the end user experience is the same as it would be for a windows native app.
I very much like Mysaifu. I'd use j9 if neccesary. Sadly there are no other jvms that aren't seriously flawed.

Ok, here's a supplementary question.. Why has noone replied to this thread? Am I asking the impossible? Is it too obvious? Was that the red pill, or the blue pill? :-s

Hello to everybody,
Does anybody know if it is possible to launch an xlet without the need of beeing previously broadcasted? I mean, Is it necessary having the broadcaster figure to run a MHP application in a real environment?
What I am talking about is the possibility of running xlet in a STB as if I have PC application. Is it possible?

Built-in applications are supported by MHP (e.g. an MHP application that is put in to the box by the STB vendor). These can appear just like any other MHP application, although how you launch them is defined by the STB vendor - maybe through the same mechanism that you use for launching other (broadcast) applications, maybe not.
MHP 1.1. does add support for storing applications on the receiver, but these must still be signalled in the broadcast stream and will usually be downloaded from the broadcast stream as well (downloading them over the return channel is possible, but I'm not sure how widely supported it would be).
In theory, it would be possible to build a service that lets you download and store applications on your STB, but there are a number of things that make this impractical. Stored applications in MHP are normally intended to be used as a way of caching files to improve startup times, and so an application may get automatically deleted when the receiver needs more space. There is also the problem that stored applications may conflict with broadcast apps, and so there is the potential for a lot of interoperability problems. Finally, there is the basic problem that MHP 1.1 is not deployed anywhere at the moment, and there does not appear to be any major push towards launching it.
Generally, there is no way of instaling or running an Xlet on your set-top box that does not rely on the broadcaster or the STB manufacturer (development systems are an obvious exception to this, and I'm not considering from the for now). Consumers downloading MHP xlets from a web site and installing them on their STB is not going to happen in the forseeable future.

Installer and Applications not opening

After the latest security and Safari updates, I can't open anything except third-party software.
I deleted my own account and am using the Administrator account, and have enabled Administrator as root user, but I still can't get basic apps to open (when I say basic I mean iTunes). The icon will flash in the dock for a second and then disappear.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, then use Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities to Repair Permissions, when it finishes, then reboot...

Gnome - Separate X Screens and and application launching

After the update to gnome 2.26.0, i've got a problem with my screen configuration. I use two screens with separate X sessions, but every time i try to launch an application from the second screen, it appears into the first.
If i launch from the first screen a command like:
firefox --display :0,1
I can see firefox on the second monitor, but if i launch firefox from the menu of the second monitor, firefox appear into the first one.
Anyone has an idea ?

Mobile website and application launch unwanted

When I access my mobile website, I have a message redirecting me to the store Windows Phone (see screenshot below).

I have recently updated my iTunes to the latest version in order to sync music onto my new ipod shuffle. However after a successful installation the application does not launch or open? There are no error messages. The application is just unresponsive.
I have already checked the compatibility with Safari, my operating system and checked my firewall is not blocking it - all is fine.
Does anyone have any other resolutions?

Hayaku use a small database to resolve suggestion.
This database look like this:
DB name : name.sqlite
Table name : hayaku_command
Field : [alias](TEXT) [command](TEXT)
You can build your own database (I suggest using SQLite Manager (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5817) extension for Firefox) and
add it to default hayaku DB. When you DB is complete, open a shell and add it with:
hayaku -d /path/to_db/myDB.sqlite

Cannot Access the Service Partition after installing Lenovo Driver and Application Installation

I recently upgraded my Lenovo 3000 H210, M/T 5355-2NU from Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) to Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) with the media received through the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Fulfillment Program.
I installed the 64-bit version of the Common Components Installation v1.0.0.8 and restarted the computer and then installed the 64-bit version of the Lenovo Driver and Application Installation program, v5.1.0.0900. After
restarting the computer, I receive a message box stating "Cannot access the Service Partition". If I click on
Lenovo Driver and Application Installation on the Start Menu, I receive an error that the installation has not
completed. Restart to complete the installation. If I restart the computer, I am back to the first error.
Any idea how to resolve this situation?

I am having the exact same problem. It's driving me nuts. I also downloaded and attempted to reinstall the factory software from Lenovo's site. It installs but will not launch, giving me the following error message: "This software is for intallation on a Lenovo computer." Or words to that effect.
Hopefully someone knows the answer. Tried tech support twice. Ugh... Thanks in advance.

Application Launch Failure when starting Office 2004 and Adobe Photoshop

I've had my powerbook G4 for 3 months now with no problems what so ever, but recently my word, exel, powerpoint applications and even adobe photoshop cs give me a:
Application launch failure:
The application "Word" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "3<Microsoft Word><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_ImageCapture>"
i've google this problem for several days with no solution. I've tried, deleting the pref files, reinstalling office, disk verified my hdd. Nothing worked.
Does anyone have an idea what's wrong?

Here is some general advice on troubleshooting shared library errors.
A shared library error, in general terms, implies a missing, corrupted, or incompatible application or operating system framework. Details on frameworks and shared libraries (heavy technical reading) can be found in the "Frameworks" section of the "Software Development Overview" chapter of the Apple Developer Connection document Mac OS X Technology Overview, and the Framework Programming Guide.
Causes for shared library errors include:
• The affected application has been corrupted and must be reinstalled.
• Running incompatible versions of two applications with interdependent shared libraries.
• Disk or permission corruption.
• Corrupted operating system installation.
To resolve shared library errors:
1. As a start, perform a general checkup by running the procedure specified in my Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption FAQ.
2. If the problem persists and only one application is affected, uninstall, then reinstall the affected application. See my "Uninstalling applications" FAQ for important advice on uninstalling software.
3. If the problem persists, multiple applications are affected, or the shared library in question is part of the operating system, then reinstall Mac OS X using the Archive and Install process. See my "General advice on performing an Archive and Install" FAQ.

Simple Application Launch Bar?

I am looking for a simple application launch bar with minimal dependencies, that can be used with a very minimalistic window manager like MWM that doesn't have an inherent launcher or menuing capabilty. Does anyone know of such a thing - something that depends only on X itself or perhaps GTK, but not much more, and which can be configured to have one or more rows of icons that when pressed launch a program? Error while building application installer and exe

Does anyone know of a simple home accounting application? iBank does not seem to be that user friendly and has more features than I need. I would like something that will connect to my bank and will allow the creation of a budget that is simple.

I am looking for a very simple home accounting application. iBank seems to not be very intuitive and it has more features than I need. I am looking for the ability to create a budget and keep a bank register with the ability to connect to my bank and do updates.

I have a small business, I chose Quickbooks because anything else cost much more. That triggered the hiring of a bookkeeper who knew how to use it. It was not the cheapest choice after all.

After clicking to send/not send an error report, I get back to the desktop where all appears normal. However, I can no longer access the internet while logged in under this account.
I can log in on another PC with the domain admin account with no error.

I would like to suggest you run System File Checker with command: sfc /scannow to scan and repair the system files.
If it does not work, please also test the issue in Clean Boot.

Build an application installer and include files referenced in the code

I want to make an application installer of my project, and I need to include a picture that I'm using in the code.
This picture is used both in the vision assistant and in a low level color pattern match.
What I need is some way to reference this picture in my code, so that when I create the installer and the project is installed on another computer, this file will always get referenced.
Can someone please tell me how to do this?

Your installer should be putting everything in the data folder you need. So it should be fine.

AIR Application Installer and Only Installing Select Files

I have a AIR desktop application where I want to allow the user to install the base application and the later add more media files to the application as they purchase the media files. Would it be possible to add the media files using the standard AIR installer? Or would I have to resort to a custom installer?
When AIR installs an application does it complete delete the files from the previous install?
Would it be possible to update the base application and not touch existing media files?
Can you pass an install path to the AIR installer?

I have done something similar with a document management app.
Once the app was installed it would check for a DVD / Thumb drive and silently copy all the documents from another drive to the (ASD) AppStorageDirectory.
You could also download your media files to the AppStorageDirectory as well.
When my app gets updated I have a function that deletes obsolete files from the ADS and leave the files I need to persist untouched.
Here is a snippet that reads available drives and looks for a specific named drive and then creates an Array listing all the files which can
then be copied using SOURCE.copyToAsync(DESTINATION)...
