Simple Interface control

sometime when i am working with multiple projects open i drag a window apart from the main canvas making 2 canvases.
Often when i do the part of the window that has the project name goes behind the upper interface. Normally when this happens i close the project and reopen to get the dragable part back.
But is there another way to handle this?

Well, you could turn off the Application Frame under the Window menu. Or, you can bring any open image to the front by selecting it under the Windows menu at the bottom...that will pop any image behind the Application Frame to the front. You can also use the keyboard command Control plus Tab to move between open images...

    I have 3840x2160, 24" display and many of the user interface controls are small, hard to read and in some cases are cut off.
    I see this issue existed with Photoshop and Adobe introduced a "Introducing scale the UI 200% for high-density displays for Windows" under "Experimental Features"

    Wow, 4K resolution within a 24" space. You need a 200% increase in UI size just to work, I would think. Can you post a screenshot of the issue? I would like to see that. ;-)
    With the changes the Dw team have made to the UI over the last few releases, and with the latest Workspaces, it almost feels like 720p is the main focus, or like the only Dw users that matter are on small Macbooks, with very limited screen real estate. I can still work on my laptop when I'm out of the office (17" at 1920x1080 on Windows 8.1), but the icons and controls are pretty small. Even with the added screen real estate, and the fact that the UI is still intact, I'd hate to have to use it for extended periods.
    I voted as well.

  • Simple Interface expired password change prompt

    We have a population of users who access GW exclusively through WebAcc. Some of this population has jumped on the mobile device bandwagon and so we've directed them to the simple interface when accessing GW from a mobile device.
    Some of these mobile device users now exclusively use the simple interface on their tablet/phone to access GW and when their password is expired, are never presented with the password change dialogue.
    Ive verified when user with an expired password navigates directly to the simple interface url , https://gwserver/gw/webacc?User.interface=simple, either on a mobile device or desktop browser, IE, FF, Chrome, the user consumes a grace login and is taken directly to the simple interface mailbox.
    Resetting grace logins and navigating to the standard webacc interface the GW password change dialogue is presented as expected.
    GroupWise 8.0.1 webacc on netware. I think wed refrained from going to newer releases in fear of some nasty bugs in the subsequent versions, but Ive not kept current on issues with the latest release.
    I understand the next GW version with native mobile device templates is around the corner, but management may want to address this sooner.
    Is this failure to recognize password expiry in the simple interface a know behavior?

  • Simple PID Control

    Hi there,
    I'm using an old version of LV, LV 6i to be exact. Now I am constructing a simple PID control to control temperature of a room. I am using NI PCI-6024E as my DAQ card. But, in the middle of trying to get the program right, I stuck at the PID control. I am using the "simplePID".vi, and connect everything that necessary, the high and low limits, the parameters (P, I, and D), setpoint, take subVI "Temp".vi and connect to process variable and the output of the "simplePID".vi to a chart.
    The problems occured when I am running the program, the temperature did give readings like normal, and i set the setpoint and limits, and also the parameters. But it seem like the "simplePID".vi did not responds to these values. As the program is running, i clicked on the "simplePID".vi and see that the value of the parameters inside it doesn't changed to the values that I set earlier. Why is this happening. Am I missing something important.
    I attached the pictures and my VI for your reference. Thanks in advance.

    I have another question, do my DAQ card (PCI-6024-E) can be used with any LV program, the latest or the old versions?
    and can it be used with trial version of new LV?

  • Simple motor control with Labview

    Can anyone suggest a simple motor to be controlled by labview. I am interested in making a small scale elevator that is controlled with a labview interface. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. - Bryan

    Attached is the vi for the program.  I will also try and attach the C code for the project.  It took a lot of failed attempts to get it working so I hope this works for you.  I don't have a schematic for you, but if you look over the C code it should let you know.  Also I used the CCS development kit 16F877A.  I'm not great at programming in C so there is a good chance you can clean it up a bit.
    I'll keep an eye on this post if you have any questions, when winter comes I'll probably work on this some more.

  • Is there more simple interface library than OCI for C.

    I read OCI 8.0 documentation and I think that API like CLI XOpen standard but this standard is much complicated. So I am looking for a way to interacting with server in manner such as PostgreSQL interface library or MYSQL interface library or Sybase
    DB-Library. I don't want to bind variables; I do not want to start transactions. I just need 7 functions like this.
    Connect () - initialize and make connection to server.
    SendQuery () - send query to the server (I do not want to know the type of query DML or Select I just want to send query to server which query server to execute) (each query is in its own transaction so I do not need to commit or rollback.
    StoreResult () - retrieve result set if any or information about last executed query.
    GetValue (row, field) - just retrieve data for given field without any binding do you understand that binding do not allow to write code which is not care from executed query and returned result set.
    GetResultSet info () - to have a capability to ask for type of each field in a result set.
    FreeResultSet () - free data allocated for result set.
    CloseConnection () - when connection is not more needed.
    P.S to learn how to write documentation just see Description of PostgreSQL interface library of C, which is about 30 pages.
    I hope someone will answer my question or company where I work will discard Oracle as database server to resell to our clients.

    Try downloading libsqlora. It is a wrapper around OCI but hides all complicated parameter passing to OCI calls. Searching on google or altavista would give you link to download. It is either called libsqlora or libsqlora8. It is also very simple in documentation (just about 10-12 pages as far as I can remember).
    However, just because OCI is complicated, one would discard Oracle seems to be a bit hasty thinking. Oracle has much more than just OCI. And about 70% of oracle developers either do not use OCI or use it just for minimal functions. That is because Oracle has (especially after 8i), superb 4GL (PL/SQL) for all your development needs. And if you have Oracle APP server, you could do wonder enterprise wide applications in quickest possible time. Of course I am not working for Oracle nor am I in database marketing, but these feelings I also had when I was new to Oracle that oh is it so complicated. Hope this helps?

  • Looking for Better User Interface Controls

    I'm working on an Labwindows CVI application where a tachometer meter with a
    programmable "red-line" affect to define safe running conditions is desired.
    The controls available in the Labwindows palate provide a meter control,
    however, no capability exists for customizing it. A conversation with NI
    Tech support resulted in confirmation that my desire could not be realized.
    Is anyone aware of additional user interface libraries (internal to NI or
    available comerically) that may help me?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bob

    I'm not sure if this helps, or how you would drop it onto a CVI interface,
    but I found something in National Instruments ComponentWorks which might
    work. I did this in Visual Basic and ComponentWorks, and don't know if there
    is a similar object in ComponentWorks++. What I did was open up a form and
    add a CWKnob component to it. The CWKnob has several pages of properties
    which you can use to customize it at design time, and you shuold be able
    to access them and change them programmatically at run time also (like changing
    the red line position). Instead of the default view of the CWKnob, I went
    to the Style sheet and selected 'Dial', which makes it look like a meter.
    Then I went to the Pointer sheet and added another pointer, Pointer-2.
    I selected the Fill Style to
    be 'Fill to Maximum', and the color red. This
    puts a second point on the meter, where everything above the pointer to the
    max value is a red band. To hide the pointer and only have the red band,
    I set its Style to 'None'. You can set its value (red line) on the property
    page, and I expect you can do this programmatically, too, although I didn't
    take the time to try it out.
    Hope this helps,
    Dave

    I'm absolutey a beginner and totally new for java environment.I would like to make a simple user interface using swing with two input fields:Ip address and password.

    can i use a flat file to store the ipaddress & password??Could somebody please gimmi an insight how to do this or a tutorial link.

  • PCI Express interface control using LABVIEW

    I've made my own PCI Express card which is meant for data transmission from external device to PC through PCI Express intergace.
    Everything is being controlled by FPGA chip.
    My qiestion is, how to make Labview be able to recognise the device and send data through PCIe interface?
    Thanks you very in advance for you help.

    Hi
    Meghan,
    Thanks for your reply!
    Basically, this is a signal
    acquisition system. The main part are ADC which is connected to FIFO memory and
    then to PCI Express pins. Cyclone from ALTERA is meant to control all the
    processes.
    Something similar you can find here:
    http://www.knottsystems.com/cyclone.aspSo, all the system is located on the PCI
    Express card which is supposed to communicate with a PC through PCI Express
    Bus.
    There is a program inside the Cyclone which makes all the necessary
    packages according to PCIe Specification for the data transmission through the
    Bus.
    So the problem is how to get data into the PC using
    Labview.

  • Simple interface vs. inline speed comparison with unexpected results

    I posted this question also to the Hotspot internals section which was, may be, the wrong place.
    Recently, I wrote a simple superficial test to inform myself about the potential penalty for calling methods through interfaces, generic interfaces, final classes vs. inlined code. The example consists of two interfaces
    public interface A{
        public long doA( long a );
    public interface B{
        public long doB( long b );
    }an interface that extends both
    public interface AB extends A, B {}and two final classes, one implementing AB and the other implementing A and B
    final public class ABClass implements AB {
        final long c;
        public ABClass( final long c ) { this.c = c; }
        @Override
        final public long doA( final long a ) {
            return a * a + c;
        @Override
        final public long doB( final long b ) {
            return b * b + c;
    final public class APlusBClass implements A, B {
        final long c;
        public APlusBClass( final long c ) { this.c = c; }
        @Override
        final public long doA( final long a ) {
            return a * a + c;
        @Override
        final public long doB( final long b ) {
            return b * b + c;
    }I perform five tests, each looping over long i from 0 to 1000000000, summing up the return values of both methods called with i. The test is performed calling methods using the parameters AB, a generic Type implementing A & B, and the final classes directly in all possible combinations
    final static private long finalAB( final ABClass ab, final long x ) {
        return ab.doA( x ) + ab.doB( x );
    final static private long finalAPlusB( final APlusBClass ab, final long x ) {
        return ab.doA( x ) + ab.doB( x );
    final static private long nonGeneric( final AB ab, final long x ) {
        return ab.doA( x ) + ab.doB( x );
    final static private < T extends A & B >long generic( final T ab, final long x ) {
        return ab.doA( x ) + ab.doB( x );
    }Furthermore, as a last test, the calls to doA( x ) + doB( x ) are explicitly inlined
    x * x + c + x * x + c;All six tests are performed 10 times.
    The test is here, including the sources:
    [http://www.speedyshare.com/files/22401605/download/test.jar|http://www.speedyshare.com/files/22401605/download/test.jar]
    java -jar test.jar
    When running the test, I get two surprising results:
    1. The first run is the fastest for all tests but the explicitly inlined test. All tests are approx. equally fast but the inlined version is slowest(?).
    2. From the second run, all tests are about 1.5x slower, except the explicitly inlined which has constant speed in all runs and is now the fastest.
    I would be very happy if somebody could highlight to me the rationale behind these effects.
    Thank you very much in advance.

    axtimwalde wrote:
    Again, you're wrongly interpreting, I assume it would help to look at and understand the test?! It demonstrates nicely, that, in Java 6, there is no additional cost for calling methods through interface hierarchies vs. final classes which is very nice. With Java 5, this is not the case, which is also clearly demonstrated by this test. So?
    Referring to nanoseconds makes no sense at all, what matters is the factor that separates two different execution speeds. There are applications, where it matters a lot if it is an order of magnitude slower or not, that may be the argument that separates great from trash. Name one application where your results would make the major functionality of the application an order of magnitude faster.
    Consider also, that there are platforms that still lack support for Java > 5.I write high performance servers for a living. And I have been doing it for years. I have done it in C#, Java and C++. I have profiled applications in all of those languages in multiple problem domains.
    And there was never a single case where call semantics impacted the speed of the application in anyway that was even measurable.

  • How to use while loops to implement a simple climate control.

    Hi,
    I am currently a 4’th year computer systems engineering student in South Africa doing a primitive climate control project in LabVIEW 8.0. Although my knowledge and skill level of LabVIEW is far from that of an expert, I really enjoy working with it. The project consists of a motor driving some fan blades, a resistor heater and an analog temperature sensor. The basic functionality entails that a user specifies a desired temperature and then the program will heat if the current temperature is lower than desired or cool if the current temperature is above the desired temperature.
    What I want to add is an acceptable temperature difference so that the fan and heater do not switch constantly as the threshold temperature is reached. Rather leave the current temperature to linger between the maximum (current + acceptable difference) or minimum (current – acceptable difference) allowed temperature before heating or cooling it to the desired temperature once again.
    I have attached 2 VI’s:
    Final Assignment: I tried to achieve the sensible climate control by making use of a formula node. As soon as I substituted the if statements in the formula node with while statements, the VI did not respond. It did not give any errors, it just didn’t respond.
    Final Assignment2: I tried the same but by making use of while loop structures. The while where my Input DAQ is works fine, but none of the other while loops work.
    Please advise me on possible solutions for my problem/project.
    Thank you in advance.

    1. Your VI does not respond because your formula node is trapped in an infinite loop and cannot exit if you're out of the deadband. Replace the words "while" with "if" (or similar) and you might be getting somewhere. Sorry, I don't have DAQ installed, but what determines the loop rate?
    2. You have a dataflow issue. Only the inner loop on the left will run. All other loops must wait because they depend on data from the first loop. data is only available at an output tunnel of a loop once the loop finishes and a loop cannot start until all input tunnels contain data. Also the first loop can never stop, because the stop button is outside the loop and will never get read once the inner loop starts. The stop button needs to be in the innermost loop.
    Most likely, all code segments should run synchronized, so delete all the inner loops. They serve no purpose. All yon need is the big outer loop as in the first code.
    There are many ways to directly observe what is going on. For example you could run the VI in execution highlighting mode while watching the diagram.
    Clearly, you need to become more familiar with LabVIEW basics. Maybe do a tutorial? Right now you might think that dataflow is a hindrance while in fact it is one of the most powerful advantages of dataflow programming. You simply need to be familiar with its logic.
