Simple X Control

Cluster containing:
1. Radio button with 2 selectors
2. Two (2) numeric controls
Radio selection 1 -> Numeric control 1 enabled, Numeric control 2 disabled and grayed.
Radio selection 2 -> Numeric control 2 enabled, Numeric control 1 disabled and grayed.
Is there a way of building a control (i.e. xcontrol) with this simple inbuilt functionality?  Do not want to code properties in subVI of main VI.
Thanks.

  • Simple PID Control

    Hi there,
    I'm using an old version of LV, LV 6i to be exact. Now I am constructing a simple PID control to control temperature of a room. I am using NI PCI-6024E as my DAQ card. But, in the middle of trying to get the program right, I stuck at the PID control. I am using the "simplePID".vi, and connect everything that necessary, the high and low limits, the parameters (P, I, and D), setpoint, take subVI "Temp".vi and connect to process variable and the output of the "simplePID".vi to a chart.
    The problems occured when I am running the program, the temperature did give readings like normal, and i set the setpoint and limits, and also the parameters. But it seem like the "simplePID".vi did not responds to these values. As the program is running, i clicked on the "simplePID".vi and see that the value of the parameters inside it doesn't changed to the values that I set earlier. Why is this happening. Am I missing something important.
    I attached the pictures and my VI for your reference. Thanks in advance.

    Apparently, in the Execution tab, the only option ticked is "Auto Handling of Menus at Launch", and i unticked it, try to run the program, and it worked.
    Thanks so much for helping me to figure this out
    I have another question, do my DAQ card (PCI-6024-E) can be used with any LV program, the latest or the old versions?
    and can it be used with trial version of new LV?
    Thanks!

  • Simple way to create a slideshow? Real simple - no controls needed.

    Greetings - new client wants a series of images fading into
    one another on
    their homepage. I think Flash is the way to go. I have done
    this before
    manually using pictures on separate layers and adding
    tweening and alpha
    fades but its a mare to do if there are many images and
    difficult to tweak
    afterwards. Is there a simple cheap or free tool that does
    this kind of

    images. I have
    Flash pro.
    Thanks.

  • Simple motor control with Labview

    Can anyone suggest a simple motor to be controlled by labview. I am interested in making a small scale elevator that is controlled with a labview interface. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. - Bryan

    Attached is the vi for the program.  I will also try and attach the C code for the project.  It took a lot of failed attempts to get it working so I hope this works for you.  I don't have a schematic for you, but if you look over the C code it should let you know.  Also I used the CCS development kit 16F877A.  I'm not great at programming in C so there is a good chance you can clean it up a bit.
    I'll keep an eye on this post if you have any questions, when winter comes I'll probably work on this some more.

  • How to use while loops to implement a simple climate control.

    Hi,
    I am currently a 4’th year computer systems engineering student in South Africa doing a primitive climate control project in LabVIEW 8.0. Although my knowledge and skill level of LabVIEW is far from that of an expert, I really enjoy working with it. The project consists of a motor driving some fan blades, a resistor heater and an analog temperature sensor. The basic functionality entails that a user specifies a desired temperature and then the program will heat if the current temperature is lower than desired or cool if the current temperature is above the desired temperature.
    What I want to add is an acceptable temperature difference so that the fan and heater do not switch constantly as the threshold temperature is reached. Rather leave the current temperature to linger between the maximum (current + acceptable difference) or minimum (current – acceptable difference) allowed temperature before heating or cooling it to the desired temperature once again.
    I have attached 2 VI’s:
    Final Assignment: I tried to achieve the sensible climate control by making use of a formula node. As soon as I substituted the if statements in the formula node with while statements, the VI did not respond. It did not give any errors, it just didn’t respond.
    Final Assignment2: I tried the same but by making use of while loop structures. The while where my Input DAQ is works fine, but none of the other while loops work.
    Please advise me on possible solutions for my problem/project.
    Thank you in advance.

    1. Your VI does not respond because your formula node is trapped in an infinite loop and cannot exit if you're out of the deadband. Replace the words "while" with "if" (or similar) and you might be getting somewhere. Sorry, I don't have DAQ installed, but what determines the loop rate?
    2. You have a dataflow issue. Only the inner loop on the left will run. All other loops must wait because they depend on data from the first loop. data is only available at an output tunnel of a loop once the loop finishes and a loop cannot start until all input tunnels contain data. Also the first loop can never stop, because the stop button is outside the loop and will never get read once the inner loop starts. The stop button needs to be in the innermost loop.
    Most likely, all code segments should run synchronized, so delete all the inner loops. They serve no purpose. All yon need is the big outer loop as in the first code.
    There are many ways to directly observe what is going on. For example you could run the VI in execution highlighting mode while watching the diagram.
    Clearly, you need to become more familiar with LabVIEW basics. Maybe do a tutorial? Right now you might think that dataflow is a hindrance while in fact it is one of the most powerful advantages of dataflow programming. You simply need to be familiar with its logic.

  • Simple Flash Control Question?

    I have a small problem with controlling a flash sprite.
    I have a "photo gallery" type of Flash cast member where
    users may select a picture. The problem is, is when they advance to
    the next frame in the Director timeline, and then go back to the
    Director frame where the photo gallery Flash sprite resides, the
    Flash sprite has gone back to the first frame. I want the user to
    know what "picture" was selected if they go back to that frame in
    the director movie , basically keeping the playhead of the flash
    cast member where it is. Is there a way to get a Flash cast member
    to stay on the frame and not "reload" to the first frame?

    The low-tech way to do that is to stretch out the Flash
    sprite sp it
    spans all the frames needed (possibly your whole
    presentation). Set the
    sprite to be offstage during the parts that it should not be
    shown, like
    set the loc to point(-1000,-1000) or something. When the
    playhead is on
    the frames where you should see it, place it where it should
    be seen.
    That way, it will never forget it's state.

  • Simple color control panel.

    My largest beef with Lightroom is that for the most part, the HSL sliders are good for creative color but difficult and slow for color corrections. And the white balance controls are terrible for color corrections when used to an RGB system as used in Photoshop (RGB Histogram, RGB Curves and probably the most useful, least appreciated tool the Color Balance controls.)
    What I suggest is either a panel on the main Develop module with essentially the Photoshop Color Balance controls (perhaps plus a density slider) with the ability to switch to an RGB Histogram or Curves mode as well. Or better yet, an additional module that has these controls plus Density, Gamma, Contrast, Saturation, Vibrance and a customizable display of one or several images for easy color corrections and display of reference images and/or a selected image in the set to help aim color and skin tones towards.
    Any improvement in the speed and ease of color correction would be great.

  • Simple Interface control

    sometime when i am working with multiple projects open i drag a window apart from the main canvas making 2 canvases.
    Often when i do the part of the window that has the project name goes behind the upper interface. Normally when this happens i close the project and reopen to get the dragable part back.
    But is there another way to handle this?

    Well, you could turn off the Application Frame under the Window menu. Or, you can bring any open image to the front by selecting it under the Windows menu at the bottom...that will pop any image behind the Application Frame to the front. You can also use the keyboard command Control plus Tab to move between open images...

  • Simple device control with LabVIEW 7

    Hello,
    I have been a LabVIEW user for about 6 months and feel very comfortable with the "basics." I have used V7.1 with SCB-68 connectors as well as SCXI-1100 systems. I have written vi's that take voltage in from a variety of devices and produce good results.
    For the next phase of my "education" I would like to build simple vi's that do things like turn motors or pumps on and off. After that, I would like to be able to use a vi to say, adjust the speed of a DC motor.
    Are there vi's or links at the NI site that can help. I have searched the site extensively but have not found anything that propels the user from the passive analog input stage to using LabVIEW to interact with devices in the lab.
    Please advise.
    Thanks!

    Unless you're using the SCXI-1600 to drive the SCXI system, you should
    have a DAQ card that has a couple analog outputs on it. If you do have
    have the SCXI-1600, you'll need to get hold of a DAQ card that has
    analog out's on it. Check out NIs M Series of cards or the SCXI analog output cards.
    Once you have something that generatea a voltage, open the Example
    Finder in LabVIEW (Help>Find Examples) ans double click through
    "Hardware Input/Output>DAQmx>Analog Generation>Voltage" and
    you'll see several examples showing you how to create a voltage. These
    examples all have the source code included so you can see how
    everything is done. Use then as a starting point and save them
    somewhere else if yo modify one.

  • Simple Volume Control

    Hello.
    Im having a bit of a struggle understanding volume control in
    AS3. I have never needed to do this but now I do....So if anyone
    can post me some ideas on how to start off my code I would very
    much appreciate it.
    I just want the user to click a button and the volume (in my
    embedded flv) to turn off and on likewise when they click it again.
    I have a little piece of dynamic text that also I want to say "OFF"
    or "ON" depending on if the volume is on or off.
    Thank you very much for any insight.

    Well, unfortunately there is no way around learning AS3 and
    understanding of documentation, which is actually, very clear when
    AS3 concepts are grasped.
    In your case, soundTransform is a property of NetStream - not
    a separate entity. So, if, say, you name your NetStream variable
    myNetStream:
    var myNetStream:NetStream = new NetStream();
    then you can manipulate its sound. In your function the
    mistake is that you attempt to call SoundTransform method on your
    button - not your NetStream. Unless the button has this method (or
    property) - it will not work.
    Sound volume is a method of a separate class SoundTransform.
    So, you need a separate variable for it.
    Another thing is that SoundTransform (with capital S) is a
    class name - not method name. Method starts with the lower "s".
    I guess you functionality has to be rewritten:
    var myNetStrem:NetStream = new NetStream();
    var mySoundTransform:SoundTransform = new SoundTransform();
    function btnVolume(e:Event):void{
    mySoundTransform.volume = 0;
    myNetStream.soundTransform = mySoundTransform;
    to make the same function to do two things you can write a
    two-state switch:
    function btnVolume(e:Event):void{
    mySoundTransform.volume = 1 - mySoundTransform.volume;
    myNetStream.soundTransform = mySoundTransform;
    So, if the volume is 1 - it will become 0, if it is 0 - it
    will become 1.

  • Simple volume control for fluxbox systray [Solved]

    I've been googling for this, but apparently this is a very exotic thing I'm looking for: just an icon in my systray that controls the system volume, preferrably just by scrolling up and down on it. KDE has it, Windows (nearly) has it, so I'm sure it exists, but damn if I can find it.
    EDIT: I'll be trying gvtray, as suggested by skymt.

  • Issue in Custom Control UI element

    Hi there,
                   I have created 2 custom controls(SAP mobile 7.1), one for rendering images(actually map images) and another for capturing user's signature. Both are integrated into the main application and works fine when alone. But when present together, certainly on different screens in the main app, still it works but with rendering problems. Say when navigating from the screen that displays the map custom control to the screen that has the signature capuring custom control, the map image is still getting displayed over the signature custom control view.
               I wonder , if the problem is with disposing of the custom control. Can anyone suggest how to do that. Or something else has to be done?
    Regards,
    Aravind

    Hopefully someone more knowledgeable about custom controls \ SWT can add some input
    I do know disposing the SWT controls is important but not sure if it would solve your problem
    from our application that uses a few simple custom controls together, we definitely needed to use dispose or it would cause memory consumption issues and slow performance
    within the constructor
    [Text object].addDisposeListener(this);
    method to dispose color and fonts used
    public void widgetDisposed(DisposeEvent event)
                  font.dispose();
                  amber.dispose();

  • How do I use a LabView control element as ActiveX Control in another application?

    I am was trying to include some simple ActiveX Controls(sliders, buttons) in my VBScript. It worked with other ActiveX Components from the web, however I wasn't able to include the LabView ActiveX Controls because I was missing the necessary IDs. Moreover I was able to test the LabView control by inserting it into the VC++- Test Container. But I still can't find the necessary IDs...

    I don't believe that any of the LabVIEW controls (except for 3D Graphs) are ActiveX controls so I'm not sure what control you were able to insert into the VC++ container. What's the exact name of the control? NI does have ActiveX controls that are part of Measurment Studio so maybe it's one of those that you're using?

    An yet you keep getting suggestions of how to set the focus.   I looked through the API documentation and I don't see anything that would suggest you can request to see where the current focus is.  Perhaps someone might still come along with a solution, but my hopes wouldn't be too high at this point.  I can pass the requirement onto Product Definition, as the use case does seem interesting.  Perhaps it is something we have even considered in the past.
    But for now, there might be a better way to solve your problem.  It will probably mean redesign the interaction.  What exactly are your requirements?  Do you need to be able to get the data in a particular cell of table when a button is clicked?  Just throwing out some ideas here, but maybe just use the lead selection to select the row, but then have a button choice to choose the action associated with the column you want. A hack for sure - but it might work.  Also it doesn't help you right now, but in the near future update to NetWeaver 7.0, WDA does have a onColSelect event for the table.
