Simple JSP application on Ora9ias rel2

Hi!
I have installed Oracle9ias rel2 on Windows2000, and I want to run simple .jsp application. My first idea was to copy .jsp file into <ias home>/Apache/Apache/htdocs/test/test.jsp , and run it with http://<ias url>/test/test.jsp. But this was bad idea, since file is shown as .html file, and .jsp is not run on server. This aproach was working in previous release of Oracle9IAS.
So, my question is : How to run simple .jsp application (not J2EE) on Oracle9IAS rel2? Do i have to manualy change .conf files of apache? Which files? (I know how to do this by hand, but I would like to know Oracle recomended procedure)
BTW. new IAS is killing my server (PIII 800 MHz, 512 MB RAM) and this is Application server only (Infrastructure is on other machine). Don't try it on anything less then 1Gb of RAM.

By default, JServ is disabled in Oracle9iAS Release 2. For more information you should check on the J2EE forum.

    How to execute a simple JSP application in Oracle 9iAs WE?

    Please "Preview" your future posts. Your formatting is awful. Especially learn to use the [ code ] tags.
    Are you sure DateTime.Now.ToString() returns a string in the format of 'MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS.FF3'?
    Fix that and if you still having the problems, debug the actual result of your string.Format() and post that.

  • Deployment of simple jsp application in Oracle 10g AS

    Hi All,
    This is a critical issue. We have a JSP application which uses the plain old java objects to esltabilsh database connection and same old java objects to perform the business logic.
    All java file are packed in a jar file and all jsp's and other files(GIF,CSS etc) are copied to a folder.
    So what should be the steps to deploy this application to the Oracle 10g Application server.

    Thanks for the update.
    But application is already developed and is Runing in the 9i As and now we have to deploy it to the 10g server.
    Some steps that i am following to deploy the application are:-
    Steps for the deploying the A+ Web portal in OUGD
    1)Copy the “aplus” folder(containing related jsps,css and gif files) and aplus.jar file to
    “<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv”
    2)     Go to the following file
    "<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/etc/jserv.properties” and add the following lines,
    #APlus
    wrapper.classpath=<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/aplus
    wrapper.classpath=<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/aplus.jar
    #APLUS CONFIGURATION
    wrapper.bin.parameters=-DWV_GATEWAY_CFG=<<ORAHOME>>/iAS/Apache/modplsql/cfg/wdbsvr.app
    3)     Go to the following file
    “<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/etc/zone.properties” and add the
    following lines
    Append the following line to “repositories=”
    <<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/aplus,
    <<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/aplus.jar
    4)     Go the following file
    “<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Apache/conf/apps.conf” and add the following lines
    Alias /aplus/ "<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/"
    <Directory "<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv">
    Options Indexes MultiViews
    AllowOverride None
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    </Directory>
    but following this steps i am not getting the result.

  • How to run the simple jsp on oracle 9ias application server?

    hi,
    how to run the simple jsp application jst disply the date on oracle 9ias application server?
    can any expline the steps how to do it?
    thanks

    No, you need the Reports Server (as part of the Application Server or Weblogic, depending on your version).
    I try to save the report, it's saved as .jspThat depends. You can save it as a .rdf file too (so called Paper Layout). I think this option is used more often.

  • Simple jsp deployment - does it need weblogic.xml ?

              Hi,
              I am a newbie and trying out a very simple jsp application which connects to Oracle
              for a simple db lookup. This app used to work with Tomcat/ Apache.
              I am trying to deploy it on WLS7.0 . It does not use servlets - only JSPs.
              Could someone tell me what is the minimum level of configuration I need to deploy
              these JSPs to WLS7.0 ?
              Do I need both web.xml and weblogic.xml ?
              Do I need all the parameters in both these files ?
              Thanks a lot !

    WLS7.0 Does use servlet you have to register the servlet inside the
              web.xml file for a web application. It looks like this:
              <servlet>
                   <servlet-name>testservlet</servlet-name>
                   <servlet-class>
                        com.mypackage.MyTestServlet
                   </servlet-class>
              <init-param>
              <param-name>EnvironmentFile</param-name>
              <param-value>/WEB-INF/config/webstore.properties</param-value>
              </init-param>
              </servlet>
              <servlet-mapping>
              <servlet-name>testservlet</servlet-name>
              <url-pattern>/mytestservlet</url-pattern> <!-- this is the
              name on the url-->
              </servlet-mapping>

  • Deploy an Oracle JSP application

    Hi there,
    I created a very simple JSP application based on "Scott" and tried to deploy it on Tomcat 3.2. I generated two archives. One is ScottBC.jar which has anything in the BC4J project for "Scott". Another one is ScottClient.jar which only has connections.properties and ScottClient_ScottBC_ScottBCModule.properties.
    I got the following error message when I tried to access main.jsp.
    java.lang.RuntimeException: JSP Registry could not locate runtime property file: ScottClient_ScottBC_ScottBCModule.properties
    Do you know where I went wrong in this case?
    Thanks in advance.
    Rick
    null

    the classpath can not recognize the *.properties file. there are two solutions:
    1. put the *.properties file into a *.jar file and set *.jar file into classpath.
    2. set a classpath like
    wrapper.classpath=path\
    where "path" is a directory. Put the *.porperties file into the directory directly.

  • For a simple JSP/Servlet application, is JBoss better than Tomcat?

    Hi,
    We have a simple JSP/Servlet/Struts application which currently runs inside a Tomcat container. Are there any advantages to move to JBoss in terms of better memory management or things like that?
    Thanks in advance.
    Niranjan

    If your requirements and application is small and simple then I think that Tomcat is OK atleast Tomcat is clean and simple. Tomcat gives you slight better performance as compared to JBoss on simple sites but please google to find out how can you tune your tomcat to give you desired output.

    I had very similar problems with adding the correct JDeveloper .jar files to Tomcat's lib folder, but did eventually resolve my issues.
    The problem I am having now, however, is the following error message:
    Error Message: oracle.jbo.html.RequestParameters.addParameter(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;)V
    Yes, I have deployed the bc4jhtml.jar file from JDeveloper to Tomcat\common\lib!
    My web-app is a very simple BC4J JSP application. I have one BC4J component in its own project and JAR file, and one JSP referencing that BC4J component - I deploy the BC4J JAR along with the WAR file from the JSP project. Needless to say, the JSP works fine within JDeveloper..!
    I'm using JDev 9.0.3 and Tomcat 4.1.12. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    S.

  • Urgent: Portletizing an struts JSP application

    Hello all,
    I have a struts JSP application. I want to portletize this whole
    application, so that navigation is always within the portal
    framework.
    Using URL Services all I can see is that the first page will be a
    portlet.
    Can anyone suggest the best way to portletize the application?
    This is quite urgent and your help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Faisal.

    Hi all,
    Concerning the message below, does the struts framework affect how normal JSP applications are added to Portal? Or is it as simple as just importing the portal classes and referencing them in the JSP's?
    We would like to use struts for our next web application using JSPs, but need to display them within Portal. I've done this before by just changing the way our hrefs work, but am wondering if using struts will affect any of this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Gillian

  • Help regarding a simple JSP file and servlet file

    Hi all,
    I am trying to develop a web based application using Tomca 5.0.16.I wanted to get to know how a simple jsp page could access a servlet.It would be really very beneficial if if any one can give me a sample code that does the interactions,I could run it and understand it,would help me for further development.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks
    AS

    I think it depends on how you want to access the servlet.
    You can forward or redirect from the JSP page to the servlet, thus making it like you went to the servlet directly from the browser (except of course, before the forward or redirect, some stuff can be done).
    You can use URLConnection objects to call the servlet, much like the browser does.
    It depends on what you are trying to do.

  • Deploying a jsp application in OC4J

    Hi All,
    In 9iAS Release 2, can i run a jsp without deploying it on OC4J(i.e, without creating a war file, web.xml and deploying it using the Enterprise Manager deployment wizard). I need to know if there is any other way i can run a jsp. I assume that i dont need to "deploy" a JSP if i use jserv but i would want to stick onto OC4J.
    Regards,
    Sreedhar

    In R2, this is simple if your application contains plain JSPs http://<server>:7777/j2ee/simple.jsp will run each JSP and they can be called from each other by filename. If you are deploying an app with a Java archive, you may need to follow specific deployment instructions for the archive type.
    Note: If your configuration is different, replace '7777' with whatever port Apache is at.
