Simple leave carryover

Hello,
I am trying to write a carryover formula that follows the following steps:
a.) Find out how many days employee has remaining
b.) Carry over remaining days not more than x number of days
But how do I configure this in oracle. Also what triggers the carry over formula to run. Do I have to run a conccurrent program for this to happen?
This is what I currently have although it doesn't seem to have any effect on employee accruals when I change my effective date to the next year:

Your formula looks good - hopefully it does the trick!
You need to run the 'PTO Carry Over' concurrent program to execute the Fast Formula.

I have a single BG with multiple companies, the requirement is, in absence Management- Annual Leave carryforward is different for different companies.
For one of the companies the maximum carry over is 60 days and other company there is no limit for the carry overs.Employees can carry any number of leaves.
Can i achieve the requirement. Appreciate your reply.

For one accrual plan there is only one carry over formula.
You have to handle multiple conditions to satisfy the different companies carryover policies in same Carry Over Formula.

Why is it taking 8+ Days to write a Blu-ray folder, only to fail at the end?

I'm trying to write a blu-ray dvd and author it through Encore. I've done this in the past with no issues at all, but in the case of this particular project, it's been a complete nightmare from hell.
It took 8 DAYS... that's right... DAYS to transcode a 7 minute, 1hr 4min, and 30min file to a Blu-ray folder. And at the end of it all, I get a message that there has been a failure with Encore and cannot write the folder. I try to make sure that there is enough space on the disc, and I give the disc an extra 1.2g of space to work with.
I have never had this issue in the past until now, and I don't understand if this is a software issue or a computer issue. I tried using my old 2007 MacBook Pro to transcode and write the folder before I tried wasting time on a disc (made that mistake the first time). I don't know what to do, and there is no one that can give me definative answers. I need help if I'm going to be productive. Please...

I had used a Dynamic Link between my files and Encore. I've done it in the past without any issues. Adobe tech support actually told me that the "/" was the issue when building the disc, since my file read... "highlights/highlights.prpro ... I changed the name and no help.
~What did Encore show for your assets once imported to Encore? "Do not transcode" or what?
All the files didn't show anything in the properties for transcoded... either for DVD or Blu-ray. I actually took the time to edit the settings of each file to maximize its target bitrate while maintaining enough space on the disc. I believe I also changed the settings to MPEG-2 settings rather than my go-to H.264 setting. I think that might be an issue too.
I DID notice too that when I finally decided to build the disc, there was odd threads showing in the status bar. Stuff I've never seen like " cpt.csf.9/render/..." when the build was taking place.
I'm eager to simple leave everything alone and let Encore do everything by default just to see if that works.

Editing filenames/Organizing iphoto photos on HD

Hi, i am pretty new to using iphoto and i just got back from a trip and have imported about 500 photos in iphoto. ive noticed that you can change the title of each photo but the actual filename stays the same (i.e. dsnc0050.jpg). i find this really annoying because i send a lot of photos in emails and they are hard to find with these abstract filenames. also, in connection with this, is there a way to organize the photos for iphoto under one folder instead of having them split into modified and original folders with many "rolls" in each of those? i hope this is clear...thanks!

The philosophy of iPhoto is simple, leave the original file untouched. That's why adding a title in iPhoto doesn't change the filename.
However all is not lost.

There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files using the title you've given it and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss.
So, no, you cannot re-organise the iPhoto Library Folder - however the tips above might make that unnecessary. By all means, posts again if you need more clarification.

Problems creating Firewall Groups

I'm testing Leopard Server - I'm trying to configure the Firewall and I'm not able to add Groups.
When I click the "+" symbol the window appears and let's me type a name, but then I try to add a range of address, the interface goes nuts. It always tries to add an "any" range, and no matter what I try I cannot delete the "any" range, modify the "any" range or simple leave the "any" range and add another range, and worst of all, even if I can get it to accept a range, it disappears.
Apple, this is really bad programming. As an admin, I have not since of reliability when an interface works like this. This reminds me of Windows, what you see if never what you get.

As an admin, you shouldn't be using beta software in production and you should understand that it is not finished yet and you should understand that you agreed to an NDA (or you pirated it) and shouldn't be discussing it in a public forum.

"Refine Edge" now automatically creates new layer... why?

For some reason, every time I use the "Refine Edge" option after making a selection, then hit "OK", Photoshop creates a new layer with a mask on it, instead of simple leaving the selection outline there and letting me decide what to do with it (which was the previous behavior).
I've no idea if this is new default behavior or if I triggered an option somewhere that I shouldn't have.
How do I make "Refine Edge" NOT create a new layer or anything like that?

In the Refine Edge dialog, there is a drop-down menu allowing you to do a number of things, including making a new layer with mask. Choose something else.

Unable to get my 1tb hd to show in windows on elitebook 8770w

MPEG-2 Playback vob file

Ok I am a newby to video editing, never attempted it in my life. What I have is a DVD+RW, which I have a 40 min recording of from Sky. It was recorded via a DVD player/recorder that sits under the TV. The DVD plays on my laptop with DVD Player. I have, using Disk Utility, put a disc image of the DVD on the desktop.
I wanted to edit the DVD (remove commercials), and make a professional looking DVD. I was hoping to make use of my giddily waiting creative tools, the iBook. I was planning on using iDVD and iMovie. What I seem to have discovered is that they are geared at movie clips recorded with cameras. I have QT pro.
After a bit of research, I understand, that the files on the DVD are in something called .vob, which is a form of MPEG-2. When I click on the disc image a folder with two folders in opens. One folder is called "VIDEO_RM", in it are 5 files with extensions like; IFO, BUP & DAT. I have no idea what these are. The other folder is called "VIDEO_TS", in are 10 files. And in it are; 6 .VOB files, 2 .IFO files and 2 .BUP files.
From what I have googled. I am supposed to install the MPEG-2 player for QT, and export the files to something that iMovie can read. From then on I must learn how to use iMovie 5 (HD, hard to find video tutorials for old software), and proceed to edit the video, then use iDVD to burn the video. Whether I have a DVD that can be watched on my DVD player just like "The Godfather" remains to be seen.
Someone please guide this sinking ship in the right direction, if possible fix the hole. Sorry for the metaphor or analogy but I haven't the foggiest.

Is sounds like you have the basic concepts. Whether or not the Apple MPEG-2 Playback component ($20) is required depends on the specific work flow you opt to use. My personal preference would be to use MPEG Streamclip (free) for the conversion which does require installation of this component. FFmpegX (donation-ware), Visual Hub (pay-ware), HandBrake (free), etc. would also work but do not include the specific features I tend to use on a daily basis. (E.g. Visual Hub would be better if you do a lot of conversions between Windows and Mac and HandBrake has limited output options for your goal.)
Basically, all you do is install the MPEG-2 component and the MPEG Streamclip application. Since your DVD is not encrypted, simply copy the VIDEO_TS folder (or just the "title set" of VOBs you want) to your local hard drive. Once copied, Select the MPEG Streamclip "Open Files..." File menu option. A window will open allowing you to navigate to the VIDEO_TS folder content and select the VOBs you need. (Note: files that do not contain audio/video media will be "grayed" out here.) Shift-Click or Command-Click the file(s) you want and press the open button to bring them into the work/review area. If any timecode breaks are detected during the loading process, the program will inform you and ask if you want to fix them. (Even if it doesn't catch any breaks, it is usually a good idea to press Command-F to scan for/fix possible breaks.)
At this point you can view your content, select segments for saving or deleting, and check volume levels, color saturation, brightness, contrast, etc. for first cut adjustments or simple leave this to whatever editor application your end using. In any case, when ready to convert your content, select the "Export to DV..." File option. DV content is editable in any Apple Editor application and the only thing you may have to worry about is segmenting output if using the very oldest versions of iMovie. Simple select the output (DV25, DVCPRO25, or DVCPRO50), "Standard" (NTSC or PAL), and aspect ratio (4:3 or 16:9). As to the rest of the options here, the default values will normally work for you but you may wish to experiment with at a later time.
Before actually exporting your file, it is usually a good idea to run a preview to make sure everything look okay. To do this, simply press the preview button. The preview is video only and only shows one "freeze" frame out of about every 5 seconds of content converted. When satisfied that all is working properly, press the "Make DV" button and provide file title/navigation information for storage and confirm the start of your conversion. Thats all there is to it in this case. When done, import the file to your editor and go to work.

OWF Builder - Sample Workflows

I am totally new to Oracle Workflow and just installed the Oracle Workflow Engine on Oracle 10g Database. Also managed to get the Administrator's and User's Web based consoles configured.
Now I'm tiring to work with OWF Builder. OWF Builder was configured to get connected to the database. There were some sample workflows that could be loaded from the DB to the OWF Builder. But the code implementation is not there. Can anyone please explain a simple workflow (with 3 or 4 process nodes) with the code implementation, so I will be able to get an idea of the codes and node setup?
According to what I understood, in OWF Builder, the graphical nodes are used to represent the transfer of parameter/s from one node to another. But to implement the functionality of process node, one has to write codes with Java or PL/SQL. Please verify whether I am correct or not?

Explanation:
This WF is a simple Leave Approval workflow that sends a simple leave notification to the approver, requesting him/her to approve the leave for a specific duration. The leave can be either approver or rejected. Once the leave is approved/rejected, a notification reaches the mailbox of the requestor in Apps.
This is a very simple WF with only three activities namely:
NOTIFY_APPROVER
NOTIFY_REQUESTOR_APPROVE
NOTIFY_REQUESTOR_REJECT
All the notifications have messages attached to them. In case if the Approver takes no action, by default the leave is APPROVED.
Hope this is clear and simple to understand.

Lenovo N500 and Win7 x64: fails to resume from sleep or hibernate

Hello!
First of all, sorry for my bad english. I have bought an N500 laptop on the previous week. I'm using Windows 7 x64 on my desktop PC for months without any problem, so i thought i give it a try on my new notebook to. I choosed the x64 edition because my notebook has 4GB of memory plus the 256MB dedicated memory of the GeForce IGP. The installation went fine, it detected all the hardware in the laptop (except the memory card reader, but i found out that the Vista driver works fine with it). My only problem is, that if i try to hibernate the machine, or put the notebook into sleep state, most of the times it doesn't wake up from it, just simply reboots. If i resume from hibernate it provides me the option to delete the restoration data and do a clean boot. It's very annoying because defaultly if i close the lid or just simple leave the machine for a while, it goes to sleep automatically (i turned it off for now of course, but i like to use). It does it even after a fresh install, if i didn't install anything by hand. Windows Update offers me prelease GeForce drivers, but if i install those the problem still remains. As is see there isn't any Windows 7 drivers for this laptop, just Thinkpad series have Beta drivers for this OS. Or just i didn't find them on the site? I will try to install Windows 7 x86 this afternoon to check it's the 64bit OS which makes the problem or not.
Can somebody suggest me something to solve this problem?

I have the same problem here. lenovo N500 Windows 7 7100 64bit. Have Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family, That recently got official driver from intel (I dont think that's the problem anyway).
Everything work fine with 32bit.

Wants me to then to go to Cellular Data to turn on (which I can't because don't know my password). First, I live in a city and my Wi-Fi almost always works to get emails and shouldn't have to turn on cellular to get emails and 2nd, don't know my password. Is it my Apple ID password? The phone keyboard doesn't allow be to do a number or a !

Need help to develop a leave management system

Can someone please guide me how to start with developing a leave management system? I know core java but nothing beyond that. I'd love to read J2EE and do this project.
I'd appreciate if someone can guide how to start doing this project.
For my LMS, requirement is this
Requirement : User login and after that he would get a homepage. In the homepage, we need to show the details of the leave taken along with option of leave application.
Similarly an admin shud have option to register the new user and also check his leave status (no of leaves). Shud be able to generate a report for the same.
A mail shud go to the manager for the leave application from the employee.

How to create a simple spot the difference game

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forums and relatively new to flash, so bear with me
I'm looking to do a very simple spot the difference game using flash CS3 and actionscript 2 for a school project.
As it stands, I have 2 images on separate layers on a timeline in the same frame, which has been paused using the 'stop' command. I am looking to have around 4 differences that, when clicked, will be recorded at the bottom of the screen.
The problem is, I am unable to find a way to get the differences recorded at the bottom in the order the user finds them, where each one is entered when the user clicks it, leaving gaps for those that haven't been found.
Being only a basic user, I am only familiar with scenes and basic timeline controls, and i'm hoping there's a relatively simple way of achieving this. However I am perfectly comfortable with using more complex actionscript, having done some programming before.

Just one last thing about the 'if' script you gave me, what do i replace 'somemovieclip' with if I've already definied the movie clips I want to be monitored? Also, do I put that script on the frame? If not, where? It just doesn't work properly at the moment (skips straight to the completion frame even though the movie clips are hidden at the start) and i'm not sure about those things ^

Leaving JTextField with TAB

A simple question really ... I have a JTextField that I would like to have the user exit from with TAB and get
the same action as if they had left the field with the
ENTER key, i.e., I'd like to be able to use the getText
method to retrieve what the user entered. Currently, with
no modifcations whatsoever to the JTextField, when I
invoke getText after the user leaves the field with a TAB,
getText returns NULL. I've tried just about everything,
but can't get any of it to work (removeKeyStrokeBinding(), extending JTextField, etc.).

As you have niticed this is not such a simple question at all.
After some experimentation I decided to make the enter key cause the text field to loose focus.

Then give the text field a focus listener
class TextListener extends java.awt.event.FocusAdapter

Which gets the field's content, validates it and then save it in the appropriate place.
The advantage to this approach is the whole field edits are always done in the same place (the focus adapter), and the enter and tab actions appear the same to the user.
The disadvantage is that, unless you know the initial value, you won't be able to tell if the value has changed.

Simple Button Hit Zone not working

I am somewhat new to Flash CS4 andt am having a problem making simple buttons in Flash CS4 on a Macintosh: I have made a few buttons with a graphic and can go into them and successfully create the Up, Over and Down stages of the graphic. Then when I create a new box for the hit state (which is larger than the graphic and I have deleted the graphic itself from the hit state) it doesn't want to appear correctly when I test the movie. When I test the movie, the hit state is correct everywhere around the graphic (to the bounds of my hit state box), but is not active where the graphic is. When I go under the Control menu, down to Enable Simple Buttons, the hit zone looks great right in my Flash file, but when I preview it or publish it and look it on different browsers (PC and Mac), I don't get my pointer right over the actual graphic, but get it everywhere around the graphic to the boundaries of my hit box. Why can't I get the actual graphic to be a hot spot in this situation? I have tried leaving the graphic in the hit timeline, and tried putting both the larger box and the graphic in the hit timeline, and still can't get them to respond correctly with the pointer in the browser window. Thank you....

Well, since the graphic itself doesn't activate my pointer in a web browser, I thought maybe I needed to add both the box and the graphic itself to the hit state. That's what has me puzzled - the box that I use for the hit zone is "active" everywhere but where the actual graphic is...
