actually I am going to develop a simple JSF Application(my first) :-|
Simple Description
User logs in - next View(JSF Page) consists an user(rigths spezific)menu and a content part witch consists of formbased use cases which have to be solved by the application. The parts for its own is not my problem. But how to bring them together ...
Question
I am looking for a best practise Solution for the described problem. Which tag/technology I should use. Is it possible to solve this problem by simple using JSF or am I forced to use MyFaces, Tiles or somthing else ...
I think this is normal use of JSF or am I wrong with that. I am reading several tutorials but did not find a solution for this global / abstract problem.

I've tried to use the crop tool in Acrobat Pro (9) and the page does resize, but the highlights and annotations go all over the place. I specifically need to scale the page content smaller (83%) but maintain page size and annotation/highlight to content connection and interactivity.

An old trick (not recommended) would be to print to a new PDF with the page size selected but a scaling of the content. Only print the document, not the markup, to a new PDF. Close that PDF when done and reopen the old one (or maybe a copy of the old one for safety) and use Document Replace pages and select the new document to replace your current pages. You will then have to go back through the markup to locate it all correctly. There may be a more elegant way, but this may be the fastest.

Navigation structure with books and pages

We are setting up a navigation system in Portal 8.1. When setting this up, we have
run into some issues with the fact that books appear in the navigation structure,
but contain no content. As a result, we have had to create a homepage for each
book. This creates a repeat of the section name in the navigation structure, one
for the book and one for the page. For example, we have our Home book. Then we
have our Home page (since books cannot directly contain portlets). In our navigation
"Home" is repeated twice, but the book link just goes to the default page (either
the last visited page within that session or the top page in that book if the
no page has been visited).
The navigation we are trying to get is very similar to the one here on bea's website.
For example, when you click on Partners, it takes you to the Partners home page.
This section has many other pages located inside of it as well. Does anyone have
any suggestions on how to set this up?

I've opened a support case for this item. When I get this resolved I will post
the solution. But, to clarify the issue, the standard way that portal navigation
works is that when a user clicks on a book the user is directed to a default page.
This default page is either the last page visited during the session or the first
page in the book if no page has been visited. The problem is that the book itself
does not contain content. So if you wanted the "Partners" book to have a homepage
titled "Partners" (just like here on BEA's site) then the word "Partners" would
appear twice in the left nav (once as a book and once as a page). But only the
page would actually contain content. Plus when a user clicked on the "Partners"
book it would not always take them to the "Partners" homepage.

How can I merge documents with layout written with pages? How can I copy pages-document with layout and paste it into another pages document?

I am working with pages for a book and have made already a layout whre photos and graphs etc. are partly outside of the area for the text, their posotion is not fixed the the text.
And now I nedd support: When I add text or a photo to the layout the text moves and the unfixed photos etc. keep there position. This means I have to update each photo or graph to shift it to the new position ore I have to place photos etc. within the frame of the text, which is not the kind of layout I am going for.
I hope for two reliefs, which I do not know how to realize it.
1. If I specify each chapter as a new partition starting with own page (then I hoped) the new section would shift together into a new page and the positions of photos etc. and text would stay fix. But unfortunately this seeems not to be the case. Question: is this possibe orno? If yes, how to do it?
I could divede the whole txt chapter by chapter into individual documents, which are seperatly created and worked. At the end I would have to merge all this document into one. Is it possibe to merge different pages-document into one document?
Who can help me?

Images and other object can either be floating or be inline. Yours are floating and will not move with the text. Inline object will move with the text but can't be outside the text layer. It doesn't help if you have created section in the document. Floating images doesn't care. Nor will it help if you create several documents that you want to merge later. Doesn't make any difference.
My suggestion is that until your text is finished you have the images inline. Then as a last editing you can start make the images floating and move them a little.

HELP: include another page in with JDeveloper and ADF

I am trying to make a layout page with JDeveloper and ADF. But I just can't make things work. I have the pre-coded header and footer html pages and want to include them in a jspx somehow. I tried panelPage too, but the rendering style is away from our pre-coded header and footer.
1. Use jsp:include.
header works fine but footer is rendered before the page content, even if the footer is placed after the page content. Is there a way to customize the position?

I am not sure about the calculation/reason for those A-ROWS figures but the NL operation executes only once (but accesses inner rowsource 100 times in case one and once in second case) in both cases (which is as expected).

How to read a C structure with string and int with a java server using sock

I ve made a C agent returning some information and I want to get them with my java server. I ve settled communication with connected socket but I m only able to read strings.
I want to know how can I read strings and int with the same stream because they are sent at the same time:
C pgm sent structure :

I want to read this with my java stream I know readline methode to get the first two string but after two readline how should I do to get the two int values ?

Does the server sent the ints in little endian or big endian format?
The class java.io.DataInputStream (with the method readInt()) can be used to read ints as binary from the stream - see if you can use it.

Help with Page Parameters with PDK and/or PL/SQL

I'm having difficulties get the real path of pages with PL / SQL. Another parameter that can not put the portlet in PL / SQL is the HTTP_REFERER.
I read the PDK API but I could not understand how to use the
HTTP_REFERER
And as I get the realpath of the page? (In a portlet within the page in PL / SQL or JSP)
Example: /portal/page/portal/groupage/page/page...
Somebody can help me?

High Score Table: Writing a Simple Text File with Flash and PHP

I am having a problem getting Flash to work with PHP as I need Flash to read and write to a text file on a server to store simple name/score data for a games hi score table. I can read from the text file into Flash easily enough but also need to write to the file when a new high score is reached, so I need to use PHP to do that. I can send the data from flash to the php file via POST but so far it is not working. The PHP file is confirmed as working as I added an echo to the file which displayed a message so I could check that the server was running PHP - the files were also uploaded to a remote server so I could test them properly. Flash code is as follows:

I believe this sends the variable 'myText' to the php file as a variable called 'hsdata' which I want the php file to write into a text file. The mytext variable is just a long string that has all the scores and names in the hiscore. OK, XML would be better way of doing this but for speed I just want to get basic functionality working, so storing a simple text sting is adequate for now. The PHP code that reads the Flash 'hsdata' variable and writes it to the text file 'scores.txt' follows:

I have got Flash working to a certain extent with PHP using loadVars but have been unable to get flash to receive a variable declared in PHP. Here's my Flash code:

The PHP file is correctly receiving the hsdata from flash and writing it to a text file, but there seems to be a problem with the final part of the code which is intended to send a variable called 'phpmess' back to Flash, this is the string "hello there from php". How do I set up Flash and PHP so that PHP can send a variable back to Flash using echo? Really have tried everything but am totally baffled. Online tutorials have given numerous different syntax configurations for how the PHP file should be written which has really confused me - any help would be greatly appreciated.

I could really use some advice with a new project I am undertaking,
I am looking to design a step-by-step game where users will be required to click on my artwork at each stage to get the next one. I would like different animated consequences to occur according to which button option is chosen at each stage. Eventually I would like for it to be a website that anybody can enter. I was wondering which programme would be ideal to use, I have access to Adobe Flash, Fireworks and Dreamweaver, but currently I only have a very basic grasp of them. This would be a long-term project I will be working on, so I am prepared to learn the appropriate programme, but if you could help me with which one that would be and any tips, I would be really grateful.

Here I mentioned that you should use a graphics editor such as "Firefox" when I meant to say Fireworks. Fireworks is NOT an interactivity program even though it might be able to do simple rollover buttons. Please use Flash for that. It will provide greater control for you as you will begin to see once you invest in a Flash book. And in Flash a game is not really simple if it is interactive. The part that makes it interactive is ActionScript and that is where you should focus your energies. There are even books dedicated to teaching game programming in Flash.

Simple setup problems with JSTL and Tomcat

Hi all, I'm having some problems getting JSTL to work the 1st time. JSTL setup seems to be a common problem for relative newbies, but having read previous threads, I still haven't been able to solve my problem so hopefully someone can help:
the jstl.jar and standard.jar are in my WEB-INF/lib directory, so I don't think it's a classpath problem.
My jsp page has the following at the top:

I think this note from the JSTL mailing list by Shawn Bayern, one of the lead developers of Jakarta JSTL and the author of "JSTL In Action", will clarify it:

Don't put that <taglib> in your web.xml. All the books tell you to do it, but Shawn Bayern has the right answer. The URI should be the one that's in the TLD JAR .tld files.
I use JSTL and Tomcat 4.1.24 without the <taglib>, and it works fine. - MOD

Tree structure with checkboxes and radio buttons

I am using SNODETEXT as tree structure. On the child node, I need to have checkboxes and radio buttons. Is this possible?

Muse does not currently have dropdown lists, radio buttons, or checkboxes as part of the forms. You may want to check out using Adobe FormsCentral, Jotform, or Wufoo and inserting them via Object > Insert HTML as an alternative from the Muse forms, as those forms will have the lists, buttons, and checkboxes you're looking for.
Another way if you are publishing your site to Business Catalyst, then you can create forms in BC admin section and copy the form html in Muse page which will render the from that you have created in BC in your Muse site page.

Firefox home page opens with jzip and will not open as google, yahoo, unless manually entered - plus window appears asking to set yahoo as default but doesn't work. t

I have tried all the home page set-up options without success. I have deleted Firefox and reloaded with no change. The Firefox program will open with no other home page but jzip.com

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
