Simple "Where do I put it?" question

Hi there,
this seems so simple but I can't find any info on it.
I've downloaded the "lang" package from org.apache.commons because I want to use StringUtils.
Where do I put files so that Eclipse can 'see' them from any project?
I am using Windows 7.
Thanks,
b.

I know I can do that - what I want is to make it automatically available for any project.
With Flex/Flash for example, there is a global classpath type thing, which points to a folder like "C:\Program Files\something\classes".
I was just wondering is there such a folder in the JDK or Eclipse installation directories where I can put new packages/classes and have them picked up by eclipse automatically?

  • May be the stupidest question, but anyway - where do I put my libraries?

    So, I download the Java Activation Framework, MAIL api, beanshell, etc. I get a nifty directory with not only the JAR but the javadocs etc.
    Where do people put these things on MAC OsX? I'm sure there's a best practice based on standards for where things go in unix.

    You put them whereever you like to have them, and add them to your classpath...

  • A question about variables and where I should put them!

    Hi, I'm fairly new to java. I'm a first year computer scientist and I'm struggling with where I should put my variables.
    So far on the course I've been able to wing it as we have not been doing object orientated programming, it was more like programming in fortran!
    Anyway if you look at the code below, I need the variables 'speed', 'distance', 'time' and 'tottime', to be calculated in my seperate methods, but then called in my main part to be printed out; however I have no idea where I put them to get this to work!
    The program is by no means complete, it's still a work-in-progress, but I need to get this sorted before I continue.
    Thanks in advance

              double time=0, tottime=0;
         } // end of main
    } // end class

    Your calcTime() can't see variables local to other methods you either need to make them global or pass them in as parameters. To make them global:
    public class travel {
         int speed = 0;
         double distance = 0;
         double time=0, tottime=0;
        public static void printMenu()also you're main method should create a instance of the class
        public static void main(String[] argv) {
    new travel();
    }BTW it's convention to make class names begin with a uppercase letter. Also, look at using the equalsIgnoreCase() for your switch statement as it could save you 4 cases.
    Hope this helps

  • Where should I put WHENEVER SQLERROR CONTINUE clause?

    Hi all,
    this is my situation:
    I have 2 compiled packages and one compiled procedure which uses the 2 packages. I want to start the procedure with sql*plus.
    To do this, I wrote a script and start the script from sql*plus:
    SQL> @start_proc.sqlThe start_proc.sql script looks like this:
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON
    SET ECHO OFF
    SET TERMOUT OFF
    WHENEVER SQLERROR CONTINUE
    SPOOL /home/scott/proc_out.txt
    BEGIN
      SCHEMA1.TEST_PR;
      COMMIT;
    END;
    SPOOL OFFThe question is, where should i put the statement WHENEVER SQLERROR CONTINUE ?
    In the current position, the procedure does not start at all. If I remove the statement completely, then I get error on the first record and the procedure does not go on with the rest of the records...

    Thanks for your follow-up, Frank.
    The bigger picture (imo, hence the "-ism") is still:

  • Which music folder should I move? And where should I put it?

    Hey, this is my first post on here. I'm currently on a windows laptop and I have my first macbook coming tomorrow. I've been sorting through all of my files to get ready for moving, but I'm not sure what to do with my music files.
    In my "Music" folder on Windows, I have my own 'Music' folder which contains all the files of the songs i've imported and downloaded; and then there's my 'iTunes Library' folder, which has copies of all of thise songs because I have iTunes. So my first question is which of these folders do i move?
    Secondly, where do I put the folders/music on my macbook? Do I paste it all into the "Music" folder, or do I open up iTunes and paste it all directly into there? If I put it all in the Music folder will it automatically go into iTunes? Or will I then have to import it all myself?
    I think they're quite simple questions, I'm just not sure what way to go about it so that everything is organised and where it should be.
    Thanks in advance for any answers **

    Thankyou for the quick reply, but I do not wish to move my iTunes library and keep all of it's settings, ratings, playlists etc. In fact, my iTunes library on my Windows laptop is a mess, it's very unorganised and many songs are named wrong with incorrect artwork. I want to start over with my iTunes library on the macbook, but I'm just not sure which folder I move or where I put it, to be able to start the process.
    In my own "Music" folder on this laptop, I have folders named as the artists. Inside each of the artists folders I have folders named as their albums, and then inside that folder the songs are named as "01 -song name-" "02 -song name-" and so on. Inside my "iTunes library" folder, the songs are all over the place and in quite a mess. I'd think that moving the "music" folder would be the better option as it's better organised; but would that mean my music will be named in iTunes as "01 -song name-" "02 -song name-" and so on, without having the names of the artists or albums filled in?
    I realise I'm making this sound quite complicated. But I do not want to move my iTunes library. I'm just unsure of which of the two folders I should move to where, in order to start my library over on the macbook.

  • Where do I put a workflow so that all users on the Mac can access?

    Where do I put a workflow so that all users on the Mac can access it from Automator?
    Also. why does the search pattern "users" AND "workflows" return results whitch math "and" (lowercase)? I thought "AND" (in caps) is for boolean searches.

    Hi, Mike.
    1. You wrote: "Where do I put a workflow so that all users on the Mac can access it from Automator?"Either:
    • Macintosh HD > Users > Shared
    • Macintosh HD > Applications (if you're the Admin user).
    All users (unless restricted by Parental Controls) have access to those folders.
    2. You wrote: "Also. why does the search pattern "users" AND "workflows" return results whitch math "and" (lowercase)? I thought "AND" (in caps) is for boolean searches."It's unclear as to what search facility you are referring, and a bit hard to follow given the spelling errors in your question.
    Do you mean Discussions search? If so, have you reviewed the Search Tips? They're also available from the search page, where one can click "Tips" under the Search Terms field.
    Good luck!

  • Where should I put trustedprincipal.conf in

    Hi experts,
    We have BOE XI 3.1 in our server.
    We configured trusted authentication in CMC of our server machine, and created a trustedprincipal.conf in D:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86 of my client machine. I created a jsp file to access bo reports.
    I can not approach http://bfphp:8080/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp, just get alert after running the jsp file.
    However, we put trustedprincipal.conf in our server machine and remove the file from my client machine, I can approach openDocument.jsp after accessing the jsp file.
    Official document says trustedprincipal.conf should be put in client, but we tried it, logon fails. When I put it in server, logon succeeds.
    My question is, if trustedprincipal.conf is put in server, can anyone who knows a user of BO system access to bo system via the jsp file. So how can I control authentication of client who access to BO system, and where should I put trustedprincipal.conf in?

    HI,
    this sounds like a general BusinessObjects Enterprise configuration topic. this forum here is for the Integration Kit for SAP.

  • Where do I put all my service classes?

    I am new weblogic server environment. I want to know where do I put all my service classes? I am deploying all my servlet in WEB-INF/classes directory (under the context root) but donot know where to put the service classes. (The service classes have the jdbc and sql code in them. They are like simple java beans. I don't have any sql in the servlet classes).

    <p>Hello,</p>
    <p>If the only other classes that use your service classes are in your webapp then putting them under WEB-INF/classes is perfectly acceptable, you might want to wrap them up in their own jar file and stick them under WEB-INF/lib, it is up to you.</p>

  • Where do I put my Action Script?

    So, I created a small Flash site with no loading of external
    swfs. I am strictly using the timeline using labels. I have a layer
    for my main buttons (home, portfolio and timeline). I have selected
    AS3 for the file and I have those buttons working fine.
    I have a button for my portfolio where thumbnails will pop up
    after being pressed. I want to link those thumbnails to the URL's
    of the actual websites. Where do I put the action script?
    I also want to have my email at the bottom of the screen so
    you can click on it to email me. I am used to using AS2 whwere you
    simply put the code on the button.
    Thanks,
    Gabe

    Hey, so thank you for the fast reponse. I totally agree with
    you on learning AS3, I don't want to go back to AS2.
    I already have the code you supplied so I understand what it
    is doing but my question is where do I put it in this case? I
    always create an action layer as you mention. In my action layer, I
    have frame 1 with my preloader code and then frame 2 with my code
    for my main buttons. They call to the labels. So, when I press
    portfolio for example, it goes to that label.......a shape tween
    starts and my portfolio thumbs appear. I then want those thumbs to
    link to the URL of those sites.
    So, where do I stick your code?
    Thanks again for all your help. I am NEW to AS3 and this is
    great learning.
    Thanks,
    Gabe

  • Where should i put oracle logo in my resume ...

    hie everyone ...
    i just received OCA certification ( 10g DBA ) and SQL Certified Expert ... now where should i put those logos in my resume ... someone mentioned that i can put them in HEADER of my resume ...
    any other advice ??
    thanks in advance for replying this really dumb question ...

    At least you recognize it is a dumb question. That's half the battle. The other half is recognizing that no one really cares about your certifications. Congratulations. You now have the same "certification" that brain dump/cheat sheet users paid for.

  • Where should I put my code?

    Where should I put my code, on the buttons and other items in question, or in a separate Layer, referencing the items I need...?
    Background :
    I'm REALLY new to Flash with Adobe.  I've used SwishMax a little in the past, but nothing of recent.
    At work there's a project where I'm getting to use FlashPro CS6 and I've run into an odd issue with code to move forwards, backwards, and back to the beggining on 3 different buttons.
    It's in a layer called Actions, and on frame 1 - And remember... uber newbie here folks, so forgive any glaring issues in my code that most people would see quickly...
    //NEXT BUTTON
    NEXT_BUT.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, nb_mouseDownHandler);
    function nb_mouseDownHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
              this.nextFrame();
    //MAIN MENU BUTTON
    MAINMEN.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mm_mouseDownHandler);
    function mm_mouseDownHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
              gotoAndStop(1, "Scene 1");
    //BACK BUTTON
    BACK_BUT.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, bb_mouseDownHandler);
    function bb_mouseDownHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
         this.prevFrame();
    The code for the first two work's exactly as I need, the code for the back button, initially it only appeared on from the second frame onwards, but during debugging I've popped it on all pages.  On the first frame, it takes you back to a black page with nothing on it, on all others it does absolutely nothing...
    Another question as I've written above, should my code be in a separate layer regerencing the items it needs to affect, or... as a colleague told me in a ridiculously over the top brimming with distaste, create layers for each item, or groups of items and place the code in there...  which to me, see's odd...
    Thanks once again in advance, and I'm sorry to post such a newbie question, but the internet gives mixed anwers, not specific to my situation.
    Tim.

    In AS3 you cannot put code on buttons and other items like you could with AS1 and AS2.  Beyond that, your choices are to place code in the timeline frame(s) or in separate actionscript files.  While there are a number of recommended best practices, what usually works best is whatever you are able to understand and work with at the time.  While there are benefits to having all code located in one place (a frame or a file) since it makes finding it much easier, when you are creating a timeline-based design, that is not always a possible/practical approach.
    Over time you will gain experience with the different approaches and can make the choice based on that experience.

  • Where do I put the .jar file for the database connection?

    I am trying to connect to an Oracle 11g database. I see under the coldfusion settings summary that the java version is 1.7.0_55. So I downloaded the ojdbc7.jar file from Abode.com. Now the question is where do I put it so that coldfusion can access it?
    Of course I need to set up the database connection (which I still don't have the connection string for), but I still need to know where to put the ojdbc.jar file.
    Thanks.

    set config(0) {{-1 0} -1 50 -1 50
    set config(1) {{-1 1} 50 70 50 70}
    set config(3) {{-1 2} 70 128 70 128}
    But it doesn't seem to do anything. I'm running a Dell Inspiron 3521 with no dedicated GPU, so it only has one fan. I was somehow able to get i8kmon to work in Ubuntu by putting this config in /etc/i8kmon, but can't get it to work in Arch. Putting it in /etc/i8kmon and /etc/default/i8kmon doesn't do anything.

  • Where do I put pdfs on Samsung Galaxy SII so I can view them using the Adobe Reader App?

    I have PDF files on my PC that I'd like to view on my phone.  I downloaded the Adobe Reader expecting a folder to appear that I could copy these PDFs to.  Rather like with Kindle.  It didn't. Where do I put the files so I can display them using the Adobe Reader App?  Of course when I open the app at the moment, I get 'no files available', obviously, I don't know where to put them.  I'm probably missing something very simple but your help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

    I solved the problem.  I manually created my own Adobe PDF folder by connecting the phone via usb to my PC, Windows Autoplay gave me the option to 'Open device to view files'. Explorer then displayed all the folders on the phone.  I created an Adobe PDF folder manually and copied the PDFs I wanted to view into that folder.  Adobe Reader then found the files without a problem.  I clearly was missing something quite simple but something I'm sure a lot of people would miss.  Perhaps if the next version of Adobe Reader for Android created this folder automatically, like Kindle and Kobo and other readers do, it might save a lot of people a bit of a headache.

    Ok, this is a mac question: With the order changed so that the ethernet comes first, why is it still showing my connection to the neighbor's wireless? Am I reading that wrong? OR am I connected to both at the same time? If so, why would it connect twice to the internet?
    Probably because you neighbor has no security on his network. Does his network show a lock like
    If it does he's got security turned on, if there is no lock showing he hasn't turned it on.
