Since upgrading to firefox 4, pages open up at a greatly reduced size, and i have zoom in with ctl+ about 10 times, which is then remembered, so the next time it opens at the right size.

i just upgraded to firefox 4 grudgingly, as i had this same issue when i upgraded to ff3, which i ultimately dumped, and went back to an older version. pages open very very small and i have to zoom in, to fill the page, and make it readable. once i have done that, those proportions are somehow remembered, and from that point on, they will open up at a large size.
how can i get ALL pages to open up to a standard. predetermined size?
on a related note, the toolbars are also very small. can i make them larger somehow?

That is a problem with the Flash plugin.
You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Since upgrade to firefox 10 pages naver finish loading , this only happens in firefox

I jus upgraded to firefox 10 and since then some pages never finish loading , the websites are random sometimes the load fine sometimes they dont

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

how do i recover my purchased movies on itunes. the icloud does not show them and i have contacted apple twice before about this issue

Not all movies qualify for download on demand from iTunes in the Cloud, the rights may be reserved by the content provider and can vary by region. What response have you had from iTunes Store support?
If you have still have the computer they were on it might be possible to extract the hard drive, mount it in an external drive bay and recover the content from it.

  • Since upgrading to Firefox 4 every time I open or refresh a page everything freezes and I have to wait a minute or so for it to respond again. I'm also having problems with uploading to Photobucket and watching things via Youtube since the upgrade.

Since upgrading to Firefox 4.0 a couple of days ago, every time I open or reload a page the whole browser freezes. At first I thought it might be down to compatibilty issues with other programmes open at the time, but as the problem has persisted when those programmes aren't open I'm starting to think it's the browser itself and it's getting extremely frustrating having everything freeze every time I want to change a page.
My other problem is twofold: with Youtube nothing plays at all because the toolbar with the play/pause option simply isn't there and I am unable to access the upload function on Photobucket because likewise it won't appear. I'm assuming this has something to do with Flash but have no idea how to fix it.
    I've tried

hello, often such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions. please remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.

  • The countdown timers at File Storage Locker sites (fileserve, bitshare, freakshare, etc) will no longer countdown if not the active page (Since upgrading to firefox 5.0). How do make it countdown when not the active page?

Since upgrading to firefox 5.0, countdown timers at the various file locker sites will no longer countdown when the page is not the active page. I am sure it is not a site-side change as ALL the sites countdown timers freeze when not the active page. This has only happened since the upgrade.

For reading only as Bugzilla is Not a forum.
[https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=652472 Bug#652472] - Higher setTimeout/setInterval clamping in inactive tabs breaks countdown scripts
In mean time you can try opening those links in a new window instead of a new tab.
Not all sites are affected as sites like Megaupload, Filesonic, depositfiles, Rapidshare work fine.

  • What I would call "body" copy is appearing in an unreadable script font on web pages and in emails since upgrading to Firefox 6.0, what can I do to resolve this?

Since upgrading to Firefox 6.0, some copy is appearing in a script font that is really difficult to read. I first noticed it in the body of an email I received, but then saw it on some web sites I was visiting. It also appears when I am typing.
    I am on a Mac.

Also, here is what I've done so far to try and troubleshoot it...
I checked other browsers on my computer and it's not happening, I went through and checked for corrupt fonts on my computer, I double checked my font settings in Firefox prefs, I did a google search and attempted all the things I saw listed as potential fixes and nothing is working.

  • I have not been able to open any spreadsheets Microsoft Excel or OpenDocument Calc since upgrading to Firefox 4.0 and my web-based email services has reverted to an archaic version. Why have these issues developed since I made no other changes or updates?

I have included everything I know about it the above question. The crazy thing is that it has affected the ability to open any of my spreadsheets even though that should have nothing to do with my browser. I made no other changes to my computer and there have been no automatic updates going on from either Microsoft or OpenDocument at that time or even since.

    Try with Flash clean install

  • Since upgrading to Firefox 27.0 some webpages will not load when I click on them. It gives me a message saying that Firefox can't find the server.

Since upgrading to Firefox 27.0 some webpages will not load when I click on them. It gives me a message saying that Firefox can't find the server. I have to click the link several time before it will load and sometimes when they do load it does not show the page right. It is like the HTML is messed up or something. I have tried everything I can think of. I started in safe mode, still did it., I removed add-ons, still did it., I reset Firefox and still did it., I completely uninstalled Firefox and re-installed Firefox and it still does it. I have tried Malware Bytes Anti-Malware scans and Avast boot-time scans and found no malware or viruses. I have found that those websites open the first time with no problems on my IE9 and they used to do so in Firefox 26.0. I'm at my wit's end. The website links are in my bookmarks and are used all the time so they are trusted and my avast is set to allow them. They range from news websites to gun websites and everything I have read says that Mozilla does not filter those unless something has changed recently.

Try this as a first step;<BR><BR>
Clear the Cache '''''Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"'''''<BR><BR>
    and<BR><BR>
    Remove Cookies '''''Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"'''''<BR><BR>
If there is still a problem,
'''''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Start Firefox in Safe Mode]'''''
    While you are in safe mode;
'''''Firefox Options > Advanced > General'''''. Look for and turn off '''Use Hardware Acceleration'''.

  • How can I get Firefox to stop saving the open tabs when it closes and reinstating them the next time it opens?

Even tho' I've set options for Firefox to delete history when it closes, it still remembers my open tabs and tries to reinstate them the next time it starts. This causes two problems: 1) it takes longer for Firefox to close, such that if I start it again a few sec later it is still running and won't restart; 2) it sometimes reopens websites I am no longer want when it next starts. The latter also makes the last sites I visited visible to the next user, which I (and I suspect most other users) want to avoid. I would like to turn this feature off since it is far more of a problem than a benefit!

    @cor-el
    I have the same problem.
My settings are already configured to "Show a blank page". It does show a blank page normally, but when FF crashes, it attempts to reload all the tabs from the previous session when it restarts. My version is: Firefox/3.6.13, and I'm running XP sp3 if that matters.

  • I can no longer attach files in Yahoo mail since upgrading to FireFox 4.0.1. I click the "attach" button and nothing happens - no file list to select from appears; nothing.

Since upgrading to Firefox 4.0.1 the "attach files" function in my Yahoo Mail account no longer functions. When I click the "attach files" button nothing happens - nothing. No file selection box opens, no error message appears, no pinwheel of death, nothing.
The "attach files" button is no longer 'hot' in FF 4.0.1 either = the "little hand" icon does not appear when I scroll over it. Other action buttons are still 'hot' ("attachments", "emoticons", "format", "hide bcc"etc.) - just not the "attach files" button.
The Yahoo Mail "attach files" function still works when I use my Safari browser, however. So, it appears to be a FF4.0.1 issue.

  • I am working on big project and in accidentally flatten the file and i saved it as PSD in then I exited Photoshop. the next time when i open the file it is merged on one page. please help!

I am working on big project and in accidentally flatten the file and i saved it as PSD in then I exited Photoshop. the next time when i open the file it is merged on one page. please help!

Flattening and merging are very similar. The main difference is merging keeps the transparent areas, whereas flattening removes all transparent areas by giving it a white background. A good example of flattening is a jpg image.
Since you have closed the file by closing photoshop, that means that the history is now gone, no way of undoing.
So that leaves you with two choices.
You can either recreate the whole document.
Or you can make selections of areas you are keeping and moving them one at a time to new layers. Keep each object on a separate layer. Then redo the area behind those objects.

  • When I clos Firefox 4.0 having multiple tabs open, Ff does not ask to store those tabs to open them the next time I start Ff. In the old version 3.* that possibility was there.

When I closed Ff in version 3.*, Ff asked me if the open tabs should be stored to ben opened the next time. So I never lost my session.
In Ff 4.0.1 that question is not asked. So I lose all open pages in all tabs.
What can I do to get that possibility in Ff 4.*?

Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
    # Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
