Site group and list of site

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement where I will be getting site group code,using which I need to find the list of site numbers that are currently part of the requested Site Group and send it back. In which table I can find the list of site numbers related to the site group code or Is there any function module to find the same.

Hi,
Use the function module "CLAF_OBJECTS_OF_CLASS". Pass following paramters
CLASS : <Site Group>
CLASSTEXT : 'X'
CLASSTYPE : 030
Output internal table structure T_OBJECTS will have the list of Sites assigned to this site group.

Site Grouping is used for ease of maintenance by grouping the sites.It is also used to maintain the characteristics as well.This can also be used in Allocation Tables,promotion and Listing etc

WB60 - Site Group,Create Promotions
WB64 - Site Group,Maintain SItes to Class

Get site collection url, site url and list url from a full uri?

If I have incoming: only URI's of the format http://a.b.c/d/e/f/g/h/i/j/k/l/m/n/o/p.docx
(And these are coming from multiple farms and multiple site collections) (and i have a web api on some remote server) (and have all the authentication details)
And I want to query just the single the item via csom : check one column and if value="yes" then download the doc:
a. how do i get the absolute site url out of it for " clientcontext ctx = new clientcontext(THISURL) "
b. how do i then get the list uri out of it to push a caml query to to then retrieve it
I could :
a. strip off the filename, that is the easy part :)
b. I could paste "/_api/contextinfo" behind it and POST it first as a httprequest. Then first get the site and web url and later on
find a way to find the list url (which is probably the first item behind the fullWebUrl), but it seems weird to mix this in the mix

Sorry, GetList is only available in the O365 version of Microsoft.SharePoint.Client. If you could test for a root site collection and if there is not one then take the scheme ... + Uri.segments[0] and then get the context. After that you can use
the GetFileByServerRelativeUrl. The following demonstrates this.

Publishing site - Add a list to Site pages - Ribbon items disabled

Hi,
I created a publishing site in SharePoint 2013.
I created a custom list and added few data to it.
In the Home page of the site, I clicked on "Add Page". Once the page is created, I clicked on "Insert" - select "webpart" - choose the custom list. I published the page.
The list was added. However on selecting any of the item in the list, the items inside the ribbon having "Items" and "List" seems to be disabled.
I have not changed any master page. I have owner permission in the site.
How to make the ribbon items visible when an item is selected? This is only happening for a publishing site template and not on a Team site?
Has anybody encountered this? How to fix this?

To my Knowledge there doesn't exist ribbon with "Item" and "List" categories in publishing page of publishing site template
I believe you have not checkedin the page and
Published the page. Kindly publish the page and check if you are still able to find the ribbon with those categories disabled. I just tried and dint find it.Let me know if still the problem exists.

When I google, say ovens and list of sites come up, 99% time when i click on any site a different site will come up, nothing to do with what I clicked on. I then have to type in the www address and it appears straight away. Thanks

The reason for this is because there was a security breach at Comodo which is an SSL certificate provider recently whereby a number of fraudulent certificates were inadvertently issued. These allow a hacker to impersonate any site including online banking and the Firefox version you're running at the moment will not warn you that the site is a fake. I have enrolled in BC webbasic paying monthly. (enrolled today aug 8th, 2013 and I have a muse site that I developed and published. After publishing the site I visited BC admin page hoping to launch the site but could not find the button to launch a site.

Route mail and Active Directory Sites and Services configuration

Folks,
I have a problem in the internal email routing. My network is spread across various regions and the branch offices are connected together in a mpls network (full mesh). Every region has its own Exchange Server with all roles installed and the smtp connection
to the outside world is linked to two Exchange servers in the headquarter server farm.
The problem is that internally I often see emails going across the Exchange Servers in the branch offices where there is low bandwidth (from 3 to 5 Mbps), thus email are sent first to these servers instead of going immediately to the Exchange hosting
the mailboxes of the intended recipients. This happens also with inbound emails.
This causes slowness in the email system and sometimes also the network with these branch offices suffers from packet loss or very high latency.
I know that Exchange is a site-aware application and uses the Active Directory topology for message routing and to communicate with the services that are running on other Exchange 2013 computers. For this reason I have checked the Active Directory Sites
and Services and surprisingly I have found that there are no sites, no subnets, nothing has been defined but the default settings, included the Inter-Sites transport which contains the default DEFAULTIPSITELINK.
Apart from the fact that clients use logon servers which are not supposed to use in the far remote offices, I am concerned of changing the Exchange Infrastructure whilst the email system is running and I would like to ask your opinion about my next steps:
1) Create subnets for every office
2) Create sites and then link them to the subnets done in point 1
3) Delete the DEFAULTIPSITELINK and create new site links based on the costs (network speed) in order to determine the best routing server. I have 5 remote offices with 5 different network bandwidth, so I'll have to create 5 IP site links: high cost for
link with slow network, low cost for fast network.
4) (Optional) Configure the Exchange-specific cost using the Set-AdSiteLink cmdlet to the AD IP site links created previously
Apart from the valid questions on why the previous Exchange Administrator have forgotten to set up the Active Directory (Topology) Sites and Services...
...And why have chosen to install all Exchange Roles to each server when there was no reason to do that (there are two servers connected to the external smtp gateways in the headquarter, so in my opinion the Exchange Servers in the remote branch offices
should have had only the mailbox and the cas role)...
As a matter of fact, my idea is to go further and create the sites,subnets and the ip site link. If I still notice a wrong email flow, I can configure an ad-hoc Exchange-specific cost using the Set-AdSiteLink cmdlet. Does this sound reasonable to you guys
or I am taking the wrong decisions?

Thank you very much for your link. This is exactly the page I have read just before posting my question here. It is not easy for me to understand why this has been setup this way by a Microsoft certified engineer.
There are specific rules to follow when Active Directory and Exchange are located in multiple sites and I am not a skilled Exchange Administrator... he keeps saying that it is correct and also tells that if I go forward with my ideas there is the
risk to increase the level of complexity. I prefer more complexity than default setting, and as a consequence of that, connectivity problems!
Hopefully everything goes well. I will post my results here once I have done the changes

Powershell script for security groups and users for multiple share folders

Hi scripting team,
I need your help with powershell script for the below queries
1. List out the security groups for more than one server share path and output it to a file ( csv )
For eg.
If the are are two share paths
\\servername\foldermain\folder1
\\servername\foldermain\folder2
So I needs the list of security groups for each share path
And the output needs to be under each any every path.
2. Grab the users belongs to main security groups and it nested groups for more than one security group and listed the users under each and every group. No need to display nested groups. Just users belongs to main group and users under nested.

1. grab the security groups from the share paths
if can grab the share path from a separate txt file than copying it to the <your path> location
so i can modify the txt file
once run the script
if can the output like below to a CSV file
\\servername\foldermain\folder1group 1group 2group 3\\servername\foldermain\folder2group 1group 2group 3then i know which groups belongs to which share paththen i can remove the duplicate groups and keep the common groups to grab the users belongs to itso with the second script same as the first copy the security groups to a txt file and the out put as below.what I needs is the users full name and the samaccount name ( user id )group 1user1user2user3

Remove access for site collection administrators from sub sites

We have site collection with sub sites for departments. Here few departments is having confidential data and they don't want to give access to the site collection administrators also.
Is this possible to remove site collection administration rights for sub sites? If Yes,please tell me how can i achieve this.

Thanks for your information. I have one query on permissions.
I have created new site collection and has given site collection administrator permissions to the user "ABC" and there is no permissions for Farm administrator also. Except this user there is no other users are having any permissions to this site
collection. Even though I am able to log in with my Farm administrator (it is displaying as "System Account").
Any help would be greatly appreciated to resolve this as there is some confidential documents which should not be accessible to any user.

Requestors end users will not acces a site directly and add list items

i created a site for IT services and this site includes some lists for various services
http://Intranet.com/Units/IT services
main site is http://Intranet.com
and also workflow are configured for these lists for create new item
and only 3 type of users will work on these lists
1)Requestors (Create,View rights)
2)Contributers (Contribute permissions)
3)Approvers
Scenario:
-- Requestors will create list items and approvers will Open this list item and edit list item like
approve and add a Contribute userid in AssignedTO field
---Contribute user also will recieve email and he also Open item and edit ans save this list
so basically its backend , data inserted by requestors will save in lists
so here i need all Requestors end users will not acces IT services site and add list item directly in list.
is any other option availabe that i will provide a diffrent front end page for Requestors at root level site (which is Intranet.com )
and they will add and view only their data, and Contributers also view and edit all users data.

You can use two web parts to show the list items for different group.
In the List view page, add another list view web part, set the first web part list view to filter Created By field with Me, second list with all list items.
Then set the first web part with audience Requested group, and second web part with audience Contributers group.

How to stop users not in any group and users from other groups accessing sites they have no permission to access on top link bar?

    Using SharePoint 2010 Server and UI, a web application
was created with subsites.
    The subsites have unique permissions and Owner, Member
and Visitor groups.
    The problem is however even if a user does not exist
in a group that user can access the top link bar/navigation
bar and its sub sites.
    Also any user in any group can access any top link bar/navigation bar and its subsites.
    How do you enforce that if a user is not in a group
they are denied access the top link bar/navigation bar and its
subsites?

If you are using the built in SharePoint navigation links, SharePoint will automatically hide links to sites that a given user doesn't have access to.
The problem is, it sounds to me like you have a fixed top link bar that lists the content and if a user doesn't have access, the link still shows up.
You may want to look at how the top link bar was encapsulated in the design of the page. If it isn't wrapped in the permissions provider code, that could be the problem.

I just updated to Firefox 4 and my Roboform toolbar disappeared. Following the instructions on your site and Roboform's site did not help. It doesn't appear in the Customize Toolbar window nor in the Extensions list. How can I get it back?

Here's an interesting bit: iTunes will let me restore my iPod touch from backup: it's still running iOS 4.3.3. I figured as much... there's backups showing in the Preferences -> Devices list for both devices (and even my old, long gone iPod touch 2G), but my iPhone (on iOS5) isn't giving me any such option. I remember I had to downgrade before to get the backup restored (something went haywire in the setup assistant, and I couldn't restore a backup from iTunes there)... If it was possible to go to iOS 5.0 rather than 5.0.1 I would just do the same thing again, but iOS 5.0.1 isn't an option. I attached a screenshot. Hopefully Apple can get this nonsense sorted out; I think iOS 5 might be the root of this, somehow.

Granting users Site admin to All site collections and/or Adding an o365 group by email to site admin group on all Site collections

We will have 1000s of site collections.
Why doesn't SharePoint Online 2013 offer a way to grant a user or a group Site admin rights to all site collections?
And.. if we must add the user to every single site, can this be done by an o365 or ADFS group using it's email?
We'd like to run this script to add a group to site collection admin on all sites, but Groups can't be referenced by an email?
Get-SPOSite|foreach{Set-SPOUser -Site $_.Url -LoginName [email protected] -IsSiteCollectionAdmin $True}
produces an error. And if we try to add the group by email manually through the UI it can't find it either. We've tried this with o365 groups and ADFS groups.
Any way to reference these groups from PowerShell?
Is this limitation there for a reason?
