Site index--Message-"Home page is missing"

I have a few sites that use index.html or index.htm or
welcome.html or default.htm as the home page.
But sometimes Dreamweaver says it can't create a site map
because the home page is missing.
Is there a simple fix?

open the dw files panel, and right-click on the desired
"homepage" file.
Pick "use as homepage"
does that fix it?
If the message "homepage is not in site folder" keeps coming
up no matter
what- Are you on a mac?
Is there a "funky" character in the hd name, your Username,
or in the folder
path down to this site folder?

When using IE I was able to put a link to specific site on my home page. When I wanted to reference it, all I did was go to home page and click on icon.

Visit the Apple site you want to be set as Homepage.
Safari > Preferences > General > Homepage:
Apple site should show up and highlighted.
Click the "Set to Current Page" button at the bottom.
Select "New windows open with "Homepage" and
"New tabs open with "Homepage".
Launch Safari, if the Homepage is not opening by default, hold shift key down and launch Safari.

I have several news sites as my home page. Previously if i clicked a link...it would open a new tab at the righthand end of the row....now it opens in the middle of the row of tabs. Cannot find the setting to change back to righthand end of row

runung xp pro sp3....i use news sites(7 of them) as my home page. If i click a link on a news page...I am used to it opening in a tab at the far right hand end of the row of tabs. Since f'fox 5 , the new tab is opening in the middle of the row.....Can i change a setting to send the newie back to the right hand end?

After update, firefox doesn't load any site, not even home page. tried older version, same . what's wrong

auto update to FF5. no home page displayed(about blank), won't load any page from bookmarks. I un-installed and re-installed FF3.6. still won't load any web sites, bookmarked, homepage or others typed in. Chrome and IE still work so not connection or PC fault. The link that stand next to the search box "Outils linguistiques" on the google home page (french) www.google.fr has disappeared... Annoying as it still visible in other navigators?

You can find it in the drop down menu of the Tools (gear) icon at the right side on top. 
This may be one of Google's experiments if you do not see it in other browsers (we recently had the black menu bar).
The international Google site (www.google.com) has the same change for me.

The menu bar on my business home page is missing. It loads on Safari but not on Firefox. I used IWeb for the development of the site.

I want to add a web-site to my home pages that open when my broser starts up.

When I start Firefox numerous pages (websites) open with it, so I can easily click back and forth. A good example would be: AOL, Facebook, Singlesnet., but the problem is I missed a page that I would like to open at start-up. I know this question is simple, but I couldn't find an answer and I'm totally frustrated: would someone please help me.

BOE R3 and VS2008 IIS Web Site Open Error Front Page Extensions Missing

Hi,
Can some please advise.
We have BOE R3 deployed with TomCat.
We have IIS for applications Development with VS 2008.
I have added a the HowToScheduleCustom_VB to the IIS.
When I Open the Web Site is VS 2008 I get an error Front Page Extensions Required.
Are the Front Page Estensions required.?
Or should we be using the Java Eclipse.?

Are you trying to open the website on your development box (the one that has VS 2008 installed on it) or another server? If it's on another server, you might want to check out this thread:

On aol message home page has garbage phrases and does not make sense, but on internet explorer I have no problems.

Since upgrading to Firefox 6, the browser won't go to any other web site after the home page loads.

I am experiencing a problem with connecting with any website at all, aside from my homepage when I log on, and particularly if I try to log in to (''adult website removed''.) Firefox 6 did disable a number of my extensions. After clicking on a bookmark, I am left with a grey spinning arrow. And it doesn't time out as it used to. I have tried disabling all add-ons and extensions. When I restored my PC to an earlier time, Firefox wouldn't load at all. Any suggestions? How do I replace my index (Home) page with a new page?

My iWeb site has a "Home" page as it's default index page. I renamed the page "Home4" and created a new "Home" page in hopes that the new page would become the default page. Nope, it still goes to "Home4".
Next, I tried deleting Home4, now I just get an error message when trying to go to the site.
I should mention that I deleted the Home4 page through the MobilMe website, not in iWeb. I see that there is an index.html file in the site directory which I "assume" is a redirect to what iWeb considers to be the "Default" page. But, I see no way to edit or even view the contents of the index.html page.
How do I create/replace an index page?

Your new home page need to be the first one at the top of the sidebar of iWeb.
Publish
iWeb will build a new index.html which redirects to the new home page
Safari > menu bar > Safari > Clear the cache of your browser before visit your website

Site Index using Page Titles

I'm wondering if there is a way to generate a site index that displays page titles instead of the full url. I'd like to provide a page that lists a site index in such a format. I have a php site with over 300 pages. Is there a tool out there for this? I already reset the default sitemap to TRUE - using Dreamweaver CS5.5, but the map view says I have to specify the homepage?? What do the experts suggest here?

Easy. Create a PHP function file_get_contents and pass the URL of the page you'd like to grab the title for.
Do a regular expression match for <title></title> and grab the contents.
Echo it in your HTML.
