according to some
specific infomation, i was going to use site.newSite() but it

for a new, unnamed site, i want to be able to manipulate site
definition
diaglog box for example i want to set the Site Name,
Localroot and deafault
images folder. is this possible?
idealy, i would like to do this without opening the Site
Definition dialog
box at all, i want to user to input some infomation into a
form i provide
and then boom new site created. is that possible?
any help, comments (any response) is very much appricated
thanks, Byron

I'm not sure why you are seeing results from the other site collection.  However for your dropdown list issue.  You just need to go to your Site Collection settings -> Search Settings and check the use custom scopes box and provide the path
to your search center.  It will then display whatever scopes are in the scope display group named Search Dropdown.  You can modify this by clicking on the Search Scopes link and then add your custom scope to that display group.Corey Roth blog: www.dotnetmafia.com twitter:

  • How can I open a site in DW CS4?

    Hola
    I had been using GoLive for a long time, now I'm trying to learn  DW
    In Golive, when you make a site, the program automatically make a .site file
    with folders for everything.
    In DW CS4 I cannot find the .site file anywhere --I don't want to talk about all the folders that I have to make--
    I have made a couple of site in DW and about 10 to practice.
    Every practice website has a name --Web_1, Web2, etc--
    When I need to open the whole site in DW, I'm having a hard time
    For some reason I can not find the .site file anywhere.
    If I go to; site/manage site/import... the program is looking for the .site file and it's just not there
    in NON ONE of the sites that I have made.
    Where is it?
    Do DW made one .site file automatically and I just cannot find it?
    Do I need to make one myself every time that I make a site in DW?
    How can I open the WHOLE site and not just the index page in DW?
    I love the program, and I know that I'm going to need patiece and time to learn, so thank you for your help

    "I have a folder I called Sites, that I put all my sites into, so it would look like
    C:\My Documents\sites\newsite\
    Once you set that up, in your files panel (Window | Files), make sure that you are working within the correct site.
    HTH
    Gary"
    Hola Gary
    I have a folder like that, however, if I move to another folder exe:C:\sites
    is when I have problems.
    when I go to file\open, I have no option(s) to open the whole site
    Only in --Site\Manage site--is when I have the option,
    However, if I go to a different directory, I can only open the index file not the whole site...
    So, how can I do it?
    About the other answer that I got, I KNOW that this is not GoLive, I just mentione it because in --Site\Manage Sites -- the import command is "looking" for a .site file, so I thought  that DW makes one
    Thanks Gary for your help and all of you.

  • "This Site" searches all site collections

    Hi
    I've created a new web application and site collection (http://newSite)
    I created a second site collection (http://newSite/sites/newsite)
    For some reason when i do a search on the standard home page of
    http://newSite and select "This site: newSite" (the only option in the dropdown list) sharepoint also returns results for the second child dite collection (http://newSite/sites/newsite).
    Any ideas why?
    Another question: I have also create a new scope. How do i get the new scope to display in the default dropdown list?
    many thanks for your response.

  • Page appears different in browser

    I am responsible for updating my company's website in dreamweaver and am having problems with the layout.  The main page is at this link: http://teom-bfms.faa.gov/.  If you are unable to see it, let me know and I'll send you a screenshot.  There are a few glitches with the layout but the thing that concerns me is the first column is much wider than the other two.  It looks fine in dreamweaver but is distorted in the Explorer browser view (that's what we use here).  I have attached the code to this email so I'm hoping someone can explain to me why it looks different in the browser than in Dreamweaver.  Just so you know, I'm a real novice when it comes to this so I may ask a lot of additional questions.
    Anyway, here's the code for my page:

                <p align="center" class="style29">Lotus Notes Upgrade Launched</p>
                <p align="left" class="style1">The Messaging Services team is eager to remind you that the Lotus Notes 8.0.2 upgrade was launched October 26th and will continue through April 30, 2010. As schedules develop and become available from each Line of Business (LOB), the <a href="https://ecenter.faa.gov/appspub/national/nd8webcommo.nsf/ND8Communications?OpenPage" class="style103"><u>ND8 Communications</u></a> site will be updated to reflect the changes. Remember that individual LOBs will control their own implementation schedules, so we encourage everyone to visit the site frequently and find out when the upgrade is happening in your area.</p>
              <p align="left" class="style1">Now for the important stuff. In order to better prepare for this major upgrade, we highly encourage all employees to take training, especially our new and exciting user online training offerings! For those really excited enthusiasts, feel free to browse supplemental training links, web casts, sneak previews, and schedule updates available on the <a href="https://ecenter.faa.gov/appspub/national/nd8webcommo.nsf/ND8Communications?OpenPage" class="style103"><u>ND8 Communications</u></a> site.</p>
              <p align="left" class="style1">Meanwhile, let's take a moment to highlight some of the upcoming features...</p>
              <p align="left" class="style1">As promised, the new Lotus Notes 8.0.2 software will offer an updated, more intuitive interface with embedded Sametime, conversation threads, in-line spell checking, and Sidebar features, just to name a few. You will encounter some major changes in the layout and experience new enhancements that simplify business processes.</p>
              <p align="left" class="style1">One of the first noticeable changes is the new Sidebar tool located on the right side of the screen. The Sidebar displays embedded Notes applications and more importantly, fully integrates Sametime 8 within the Notes client. After the upgrade, you will no longer have to launch a separate Sametime client! Other helpful Sidebar applications include the Day-At-A-Glance feature which summarizes calendar entries in a single-day view, and the option to add RSS feeds.</p>
              <p align="left" class="style1">Even for those who travel or work off-site, the new DWA-iNotes Lite version of web mail allows you to access email more quickly and efficiently. Easily switch to the full version, when your work requires more robust tools.</p>
              <p align="left" class="style1">The wait is almost over, so be sure to take advantage of the available training and learn about the exciting benefits before everyone else. Experience the desktop of the future today! </p>

    Server Not Found.
    Is this an intranet site?  Did you inherit this mess?  I don't mean to be rude or sarcastic but this code is terrible. I'm amazed that this is being used on a dot GOV server.  I suppose if the public can't see it, it doesn't matter to the FAA that this site is a web accessibility and maintenance nightmare.  100+ redundant .styles on a single web page.  That has to be a new record.   If this site were in my charge, I'd recommend a total rebuild.
    Anyway, in an attempt to answer your question, 90% of display problems are code related.  Use the links below to check your code and fix all reported errors.

  • How can I create a new Host Url Site Collection in SharePoint 2013?

    Hi,
    This may sound really daft, but someone is trying to create a new Team Site Host Url Site Collection. We have the one Web Application at
    http://main and all site collections sit underneath. When we try and create a new Site Collection we have URL set as
    http://main/sites.  Our new site should be
    http://newsite. I tried to remove root and sites from http://main managed paths and you can't do it.
    Is it just me, but do you have to create a web application. Create Site collection for that web application and then move to under
    http://main like a SharePoint 2010 migration?
    Help Appreciated.
    John.

    In that scenario, you would need to create a new Web Application, yes. There is another function called Host-named Site Collections which would get you what you want, but it takes a bit of work:

  • Apply custom master page for a new sub site in programming

    Hi;
    How Apply a custom master page for a new subsite ?
    My code is as follows but it not working : the master page is not applied ?
    SPWeb newSite = web.Webs.Add(name, name, name, Convert.ToUInt16(1036), "{815BF557-AFE0-42B4-92A1-A8A56011EDBF}#LaPoste.DTC.ModeleSite", false, false);
    newSite.AllProperties["__InheritsCustomMasterUrl"] = "False";
    newSite.CustomMasterUrl = "/_catalogs/masterpage/iDtc/iDtcGeneric.master";
    newSite.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
    newSite.Update();
    Regards

    try this:
    foreach (SPWeb site in siteCollection.AllWebs) {
    if (site.Title.ToString() == "Reporting Portal")
    site.MasterUrl = WebAppRelativePath + "_catalogs/masterpage/Branding101.master";
    //site.CustomMasterUrl = WebAppRelativePath + "_catalogs/masterpage/Branding101.master";
    site.AlternateCssUrl = WebAppRelativePath + "Style%20Library/Branding101/Styles.css";
    site.SiteLogoUrl = WebAppRelativePath + "Style%20Library/Branding101/Images/Logo.gif";

  • Custom master pages don't appear in all site collections within same App

    I created an additional site collection within an existing application which has a preexisting site collection.
    The preexisting site collection uses a custom master page:
    .../_Layouts/ChangeSiteMasterPage.aspx
    that doesn't appear in
    .../newsite/_Layouts/ChangeSiteMasterPage.aspx
    Anything I need to do in
    .../_catalogs/masterpage/forms/allitems.aspx
    to apply the masterpage to the new site?
    <label for="ctl00_PlaceHolderMain_ctl00_ctl00_resetSubSitesCheckBox">Thanks,</label>
    Scott<label for="ctl00_PlaceHolderMain_ctl00_ctl00_resetSubSitesCheckBox"></label>

    Hey,
    I don't get the problem completely. I undestand that your custom masterpage, which you created once for an existing site collection, does not appear in a newly created site collection. So what where your deployment steps for the custom masterpage?
    Generally you would create the masterpage via Visual Studio and deploy it within a feature to the catalogs library, either in web-scope or in site-scope. A feature event receiver applys the masterpage to the current website (in web-scope) or to all webs
    in the site collection (in site-scope) on feature activating. But in both scopes you need to active the feature in every site collection (or website).
    So please tell us how you deployed the masterpage.

  • Trying to publish a new site... comes up under my original one :(

    I'm trying to publish a new website as I have a family pack for .mac (five domain sites). I originally published my wedding site this past summer and when I try to publish my personal one (for my portfolio) it comes up under the wedding one.
    ie: http://web.mac.com/originalsite/newsite
    I would like it to just be:
    http://web.mac.com/newsite
    How do I change this?

    If you have multiple sites within one domain each one has it's own address.
    Like Tom, I'm a little unclear what you are trying to do.
    I would suspect if you have a family pack you would be publishing from the separate accounts and would have separate domain files with one or more sites on each account (one per domain file probably best).
    Now your probably as confused as I am.

  • My dreamweaver cs5 site not displaying correctly

    Having a css issue on this site http://mianbusinesslink.com/newsite/ When I add the two banners on the sides the content in the middle goes down. I have tried floating and clearing still no success. The banners are in an outerwrapper div and the rest of the middle section in wrapper div.

    Change the #wrapper style like this:
    #wrapper {
        width:900px;
        margin: 0 6px;
        background-color: #fff;
       float: left;

  • Site Definition Change  Help

    Please help me to understand how to name a newsite with and
    existing site name. I have an existing site created in Dreamweaver
    and live. I have created a new site within a folder Unnamed Site 3/
    on the same local drive (not within the root folder) where this
    existing site lives. I did not want to name it the same name as my
    existing site name,so not to confuse any of the files- since I had
    to use some existing files and also create new ones. I have never
    entirely replaced an existing site with another using the same
    domain name. Obviously all my template files and pages have a path
    of Unnamed Site 3/Blah/Blah throughout them. How (please tell me
    this is possible) do I change the path throughout to the existing
    domain name throughout the site files. I hate to seem so silly but
    I never had to put up a replacement site before. Do I use Change
    links sitewide? I have so much done already, it just wouldn't make
    sense that there was not a way.

    Name the new site "Original name NEW". Give it the same
    Remote site
    definition as the old site. When the time comes, move all of
    the original
    site files folders on the remote server into an archive
    folder (preserving
    the hierarchy) on the remote site (or even just delete them,
    and upload the
    new site. Bada bing, bada boom.

  • Get Internal Server Error when run the site

    the url of my site is :
    http://webdb.us.colorcon.com:7777/pls/portal30
    everything ran fine till yesterday. but i also created 2 new sites as follows :-
    http://webdb.us.colorcon.com:7777/pls/prtltest http://webdb.us.colorcon.com:7777/pls/prtltran
    the prtltest is a test site and
    the prtltran is a training site
    but when i log in to my original site today, i get Internal Server Error. i did the troubleshooting and the following URL failed :-
    http://webdb.us.colorcon.com:7777/servlet/IsItWorking
    the troubleshooting guide on OTN says the following maybe the cause :-
    The Apache JServ is not working correctly. Most "internal server errors" are related to Apache Jservs failure to start.(usually due to a port conflict).
    Please look at the following log files for details: Apache Listener log files in IAS_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs, and the
    Apache JServ log files in IAS_HOME/Apache/Jserv/logs.
    is it because the newsites share the same port number 7777 as the existing ones ?
    i looked at the log files and all it says is, some files not found.
    is there anything else i seem to be missing ?
    any help wouldbe appreciated.
    thanx
    null

    Are you using multiple listeners or just one? If you have multiple listeners, then you need to update the jserv.properties file for each with a distinct port. The default is 8007.
    If you are using one listener (which you can do) then the apache/jserv configuration is is wrong. What are the files that it says are missing?

  • Amend URL of site

    Hi I upload files to a newsite folder during developmental stage and then transfer to another folder but I dont' seem to be able to amend the URL of my site within incontext editing,?

    Horsemad,
    I think I understand your question. InContext does not update links to files when you move a site page to another folder.
    It is probably best to do this in Dreamweaver, as it will give you the option to update all links at once. If you make an editable region within a div, you can create a new link or edit an existing one from the InContext Properties bar. But once again NOT site wide changes.
    Hope this answers your question,

  • Creating new site

    I'm new to UCM/ Site Studio. I have the sample site installed which works fine, but when I use Site Studio to create a new site, the immediate error I get is:
    Failed to create new site hierarchy "NewSite".
    (Invalid metadata for 'SS_PROJECT_NewSite'. Virtual folder does not exist.)
    What's going on here? I also tried to get around it by creating a different weblogic user project, but that gave Site Studio Is it just that buggy?

    Grr.
    I did indeed go to Set Default Project Document Info, but going in there again the "Folder" value was blank. So I clicked "Browse", then selected no folder (just "OK") and then the folder value was set to "/". After I clicked Save it worked and I could create a new site.
    So it works now, but this seems like a bug that I needed to click Browse and Ok for it to work...

  • How to align an all Flash site to top of page

    Yep I'm a newbie and I'm assuming this is pretty easy. How do
    I eliminate the top border to the following site?
    http://totalscript.com/newsite/ts.html
    I’m using an HTML with an embedded SWF.
    Thank you,
    Alex

    That top border is in your swf. If you right click in there
    you get the flash right click menu.
    Since it looks like you are publishing for player 7, I can
    assume it is AS2. Try going into your code and adding:
    Stage.align = "TC";
    This will auto-align the content to the top center of the
    player region.

  • Site-wide redirect

    Hi,
    Is there a way to do a site-wide redirect or something in the
    administrator that will do this? We've created a new website and
    want to redirect all the old web pages over to the new site
    (without having to add a meta-refresh to thousands of pages in a
    single day). I haven't found anything in the administrator that
    will do this. Everything resides on the same server ex
    http://example.com/oldsite/index.cfm
    to
    http://example.com/newsite/index.cfm
    We do have some application.cfm and application.cfc files
    that I thought we could add the meta -refresh tag to but that
    barely takes care of 30% of the pages.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks, Wendy

    If you want it to be server wide rather then page by page,
    look at your
    web server.
    When we did this last year, we put re-direct directives into
    our Apache
    configuration file. I am sure there is an IIS equivalent if
    that is
    your server of choice.
