Site Templates vs Email Templates
Question:
I've recently had a little grief with email campaigns. A customer wanted to be able to track how many people clicked on the links in their first email campaign, but because the links were in the template (a site template) the links weren't trackable.
Does anyone know if there is a difference between the email and site templates. Would the BC link tracking have worked if I had used the email template?
Answer:
The links from the template do now have tracking appended to them. Only the links inside the campaign body will be tracked. That's just how BC rendering engine works I suppose.
bump . . . (or at least can flex/flashbuilder4 experts suggest how they "start" a project -- do you build all the graphics/look and feel from scratch or do you do all the customization in flex .css or do you primarily use flex to build only component(s) with the images etc built in html?)

Overwrite standard workflow email template
Hi,
Can anybody tell me if is possible to overwrite the workflow review notification email template?
How?
ThanksYes, absolutely. Take a look at this link: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/doc.1111/e10978/c05_workflows.htm#CIHEFEJH
The key info is:
The two most commonly used templates used to generate email messages sent to recipients involved in a workflow are reviewer_mail.htm and reject_mail.htm. These are stored in IdcHomeDir/resources/core/templates.
These templates can be modified like any other template. Email template modification provides the greatest flexibility and opportunity for customizing workflow emails. Although this kind of modification is relatively straightforward, it still requires careful component development. Modifying the subject and the message in the email is often the most important part of the message, and thus is often the most modified.
Make sure your read further (if you want to create a template of your own, for instance). -

Can no longer select text in email template or read only field with mouse using IE or Firefox?
Hi Guys,
I can no longer select text in email template or read only field using my mouse in IE or Firefox anymore. We are using CRM 2011 rollup 18 applied with IE 11 and the latest version of Firefox. We only applied roll up 18 in Feb when this issue began.
Thanks
Dave
David KellyWhen you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these. While viewing a page on the site:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
These features rely on JavaScript, and it sounds as though you have scripting enabled if you get (the wrong) color changes. Some add-ons might alter the way scripts operate, so a standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
If those features work correctly, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.
To also disable plugins, you can use this page:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Plugins category

Custom Alert Email Templates Issue - List Alerts emails not using customized XML alert template
I have recently customized the XML alerts template (AlertTemplates.xml) for our site collection in SharePoint 2010 to exclude specific fields in the email when users who have subscribed to a list using the "Alert Me" feature. I
have renamed the custom alerts XML file and loaded the custom template in the following directory (%ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web server extensions\14\TEMPLATE\XML) and
restarted IIS. Once users subscribe to the alerts using the list using the "alert me" function they received the customized email as intended.
We needed to auto-subscribe users to the email alerts so what I did was used a powershell script to add users to the alert subscriptions using the script shown in below:
Import-Csv D:\Temp\filename.csv | ForEach-Object{
$webUrl=$_.WebUrl
$listTitle=$_.List
$alertTitle=$_.AlertTitle
$subscribedUser=$_.SubscribedUser
$alertType=$_.AlertType
$deliveryChannel=$_.DeliveryChannel
$eventType=$_.EventType
$frequency=$_.Frequency
$oldAlertID=$_.ID
$web=Get-SPWeb $webUrl
$testAlert = $web.Alerts | WHERE { $_.ID -eq $oldAlertID }
IF ($testAlert) {
$web.Alerts.Delete([GUID]$oldAlertID)
Write-Host Old alert $oldAlertID deleted. -Foregroundcolor Cyan
$list=$web.Lists.TryGetList($listTitle)
$user = $web.EnsureUser($subscribedUser)
$newAlert = $user.Alerts.Add()
$newAlert.Title = $alertTitle
$newAlert.AlertType=[Microsoft.SharePoint.SPAlertType]::$alertType
$newAlert.List = $list
$newAlert.DeliveryChannels = [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPAlertDeliveryChannels]::$deliveryChannel
$newAlert.EventType = [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPEventType]::$eventType
$newAlert.AlertFrequency = [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPAlertFrequency]::$frequency
if($frequency -ne "Immediate"){
$AlertTime=$_.AlertTime
$newAlert.AlertTime=$AlertTime
$newAlert.Update()
Write-Host Created $newAlert.Title for $subscribedUser . -Foregroundcolor Cyan
} ELSE {
Write-Host Alert $alertTitle for $subscribedUser already done. Moving on. -Foregroundcolor Magenta
When I ran the script and added the users and restarted the service, all users who were auto-subscribed via this method would get the email without the customizations that were done in the custom template. All users who manually subscribed to the list
using the "Alert Me" function would get the customized email.
Does anyone know why users who manually subscribe would get the custom email alert and why users who were auto-subscribed using the powershell script do not get the custom email alert?Hi ,
According to your description, my understanding is that users who were auto-subscribed using the PowerShell script do not get the custom email alert.
For your issue, it can be caused by the auto-subscribed alert email which is generated by PowerShell script is using OOTB alert template. You can add the following script into your script for setting
the alerts’ alert email template:
$contentService = [Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebService]::ContentService
$AlertsTemplateCollection =new-object Microsoft.SharePoint.SPAlertTemplateCollection($contentService)
$newAlert.AlertTemplate = $AlertsTemplateCollection["YOUR_UNIQUE_TEMPLATE_NAME_VALUE"]

We are trying to pull the service ID into an existing link in an email template.
We want to include the service ID in an email to an existing link that takes the customer to another place. We want to pull the service.serviceid and place it at the end of the existing link. Has anyone worked with this at all?
Thanks - WendyThanks Craig. I can pull the service id into the email template using #Service.ServiceID#, but I can't get it to be at the end of the link to the site I want to send the user to. Example: I want to send someone to http://test.com/test/default.asp?Service = "this is where I need to pull in the service ID, so that it will be part of the link the customer will select.

Adding dynamic variables to Email Templates
Apart from the default 35 email parameters available in OIA, how to add other dynamic variables to Email Templates?
You would add that to your form processing/email formatting
script,
apparently built into this page -

Hi,
I'm trying to create a custom email in Oracle identity analytics. As far I understand, it seems to be there a restriction in OIA
a) You can't use any variable outside from the pre-defined 35 variables of OIA.
Is my understanding rite?
If so then can we atleast deploy a Java class in OIA, wherein using Java mail i would send a custom email.
The reason I'm asking this is that, i need to send a email to BMC, in turn BMC would read this email and create a ticket.
If anyone has faced this similar kind of situtation or could share you suggestion, it would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Prem.GAn easy way is to open one of the existing templates from the
Outlook/Stationery folder and modify to your liking and save
as a different
name.
You can easily create your own stationery using standard
HTML. If you use
styles, I find it's best to keep in line. Make all of your

and keep the

to receive
HTML email.
If you need to know how to install the stationery, I've got
some

Change alert creation email template
Hi,
After creating alert in SP 2013 i'm getting mail something like this:
"Alert <ListName> has successfully been added on <MySiteName>.<o:p></o:p>
You will receive alerts according to the delivery method, timing and criteria that were selected when the alert was created.<o:p></o:p>
You can change this alert or any of your other alerts on the <My Alerts on this Site> page."
I want to change this email completely. I changed other templates in alerttemplates file, and it works fine. But i can't find this exact email template. So how can i change it? Where can i find it?
Thank you.Hi,

Both are almost same, are you referring to Site Definitions vs web template?, if so, refer to the following post

I cannot create a site-template in my own language (danish) and deploy a site based on the template.
I created a template from a "fresh" SharePoint project site with no tampering.
When trying to deploy a new site based on the templat I get the following error:

Can anyone help me with setting up my Mac Air, to allow me to have an email template open up in Outlook instead of Mail when I click on an email address on a website?
All the limits you mention 100 e-mails at a time and 500 in a four hour time frame are limitations imposed by your mail provider, not Thunderbird. Thunderbird places no restrictions on the maximum number of recipients.

Problem with links on email templates
Problem with links on email templates
Hi,
We have been having issues with links on our email templates. Some of the links point to the following URL:
http://server'sname/thirdparty/FCKeditor/editor/fckeditor.html?InstanceName=emailTemplatesDTO.htmlBody&Toolbar=NewscaleFCKEditorToolBar#URL
Sometimes we get “Unknown internal error” on the web page.
Can anyone help or advise on how to resolve this issue?
Many thanks,
Wesley.Hi Wesley,
This is rather late, but we've seen the same thing frequently (and I believe can replicate it). It's caused when you a creating a new email by copying the content of an existing one with a name space in it.
Upon copying, the link gets scrambled. The approach we use is to copy the email in to a new template, then strip out all of the URL links and add them back in.
Thanks!

If/Then Logic in Email Templates (CRM 2015)
Is it possible to use If/Then logic in an email template, so that we can display certain portions of the email template, based on data from the Account record?
If not within CRM, is there an ISV product that performs this function?Hi Talina,
Functionally, how are these e-mails sent at the moment?
You could achieve this by creating a workflow with your logic, and depending on the If's/Else's, create an e-mail message with the intended templates - then include the info you pretend on these templates.
The workflow would have to run on-demand or triggered by an event on the entities. -
Why does my email template appear differently in various email programs?
I have created a CSS-style based email template using Dreamweaver CS6. The template looks great within Dreamweaver, on Internet Explorer and in Outlook 2003.
