This is the answer of sizing PM:
"Hi there,
In general workflow itself is not sized, but the business application behind the workflow.
The overhead caused by the workflow is negligible.

  • How can I see that a file has been sent for workflow?

How can I see that a file has been sent for workflow?
During the workflow phase, the file is locked for workflow. But when the file has been approved (or denied) it will have the same status as it did before the workflow process (unless you trigger the workflow by changing its location).
You can see the workflow history in the "My Request" view, but this way of determining whether a file has been approved seems complicated.

    Hi,
Thanks for the transaction code, but my question is not answered yet.
For example, I use STMS_IMPORT in the Development environement to see the list of the transport that has been made in that environement.
I now have a list of these transports, with a status. But I wanna know if that transport that has been created in the Development environement has been moved to the Sandbox environement.
STMS_IMPORT shows me only the list of transports that has been created in that environement. It doesn't tell me if a transport in DVL has been moved in the QAS, SANDBOX or PRODUCTION environment.
    Thanks again,

  • Best practice for workflow triggering from Web Dynpro UI

    Hello, workflow community!
I'm working on a task which allow to trigger the workflow by clicking a button in Web Dynpro UI. As always, there are multiple ways to do that, for instance, to use SAP Workflow API (SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW) or to raise an event upon the button click, which will be caught by workflow template.
In my opinion, the optimal solution is to call FM, which will call ABAP-class, raising an event, which, in turn, will be caught by workflow template. In this case, FM will service kind of wrapper, where we can implement some additional checks if needed.
But the question is what approach is the best practice — to raise an event or use SAP_WAPI_*?
    Thanks.

    let combine, use SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT
usually I would not recommend creating a workflow directly (SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW) since when I look for workflows in a system I usually start from SWE2 (the event linkage) which uses events so the workflow you start by SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW will not be seen there, also SWE2 gives you better control for starting the workflow, you can easily deactivate an event linkage. finding where you called the workflow by SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW will be more difficult and deactivation will require a code change.
so use events, and start them by SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT
Also pay attention that you have a check function module option in SWE2.

  • How to use Start Task Group for Workflow Interface

    Hi all,
anyone who can tell me how to use the Interface IFWFTSKGRP (Start Task Group for Workflow Interface)?
As far as I understood the documentation it can be used to restrict the selection of workflows that can be started in the Generic Object Services. But the question is how to implement it.

    Hi, Carsten,
(probably it's a bit too late to post an answer after 3 years , but I'll post it in case someone else needs it)
    You should implement GetTaskGroup method.
The code should return id of the task group (otype TG, mantained in PFTC) that holds the list of workflow definitions.
Here is a sample implementation. It's taken from FORMABSENC business object. It belongs to SAP demo workflow "Notification of Absence". I suppose it should be present in most systems and you can see it in action.
    begin_method gettaskgroup changing container.
    DATA: taskgroup LIKE rhobjects-object.
    *- set task group
    taskgroup = 'TG70000023'.
      *- set result
    swc_set_element container result taskgroup.
    end_method.

  • Advice on saving DVD video and re-sizing for the web

    Hello...
I'm looking into purchasing a copy of Adobe Premiere - but I need advice on which version I need - and if it can do what I'm after.
I want to transfer my own video work from DVDs and save them as MPEG4 files. I then want to upload them on to my website. They'll be about 10 minutes each each DVD will have several videos on them.
Is Adobe Premiere able to do this...? If so which version would suit me best? It's simply to do the above with no editing, just re-sizing for the web and saving as an MPEG4 file.
Thank you for your help and time in advance.

For web video creation, I use a program called V2F. It creates Flash rather than mp4, but if you're not stuck on that format, the files are very good quality.

  • Edit option not enabled for workflow content from within Content Presenter in Webcenter Spaces

I have a webcenter spaces portal page with a content presenter displaying a html page using the default out of the box template. The html page is located in webcenter content / UCM under a folder on which the " All Reviewer" seeded workflow is enabled. The issue i am seeing is when the file is in workflow the edit option is not being enabled even though the reviewer should be able to edit/approve the content in this step. The other functions like workflow approve or reject and switching between workflow version and published version are all enabled. Also when rejected the content does not show edit option from the content presenter (cntrl-C option) for the original author to make any updates.
What would need to be done to enable editing from within the content presenter for workflow content?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi Sreedhar
    We are using WCP 11.1.1.8.5
    To recreate the issue
    1)  Login to WCC Portal: Spaces as admin user , create a New Page under a webcenter spaces portal
    2)  Under the space , Pages Section , select the page and click edit
    3) In Design mode , choose Content Management and Add Document Explorer and Add Content Presenter on the page
    4)  The Document Explorer will default to the Current Space/portal directory under MyWebcenterSpaces in UCM
    5) Create a directory "content" under the Portal space using the document explorer.
    6) Right Click on Content folder and choose details. In Details view , go to File->workflow settings and pick a seeded workflow -> MyWCSAllReviewer. Add a user as workflow approver
    7) After workflow is enabled on this folder upload a basic html page with simple text into this folder
    8) Now in the design mode choose edit in the content presenter and select the "single content view" with default template to display an Image or HTML. Click browse and select the html that was added to workflow
    9) Save the Page and view the portal. Workflow should now be enabled for any content changes to that html page.
    10) Click Cntrl-shift-c in portal/space as an authenticated user with edit access to content and make an edit to content , this will trigger worklow . The author currently will see edit option get disabled once content enters workflow
    11)  Login as approver to the portal and cntrl-shift-C to the portal and workflow options(approve and reject) are enabled but the edit option is not. If you reject content , the author should be able to edit content in the content presenter mode, this also is not available. The issue is the content is now no longer available for editing from wthin content presenter if it is in workflow to either the approver or the original author depending on workflow step. If you check the same content under the document explorer the option to edit is enabled. Is this a bug /issue with content Presenter or some option needs enabled?

Recently I created new workflow definitions and reminder task stopped sending mails.
I checked task and it has IapiTaskIfc Class com.frictionless.custom.wkfreminder.sendWorkflowReminder.
How to check this class and do i need to make changes somewhere else to send reminder mails?
    Regards,
    Prabhat

    Hi Prabhat,
I am working on creating a scheduled task for sending reminder emails. I need help on IapiTaskIfc Class com.frictionless.custom.wkfreminder.sendWorkflowReminder. Can you please share sendWorkflowReminder class to me, so that I can get idea about the code written for sending reminder emails? It would be great help.
To check the class, you need to get the jar from server and decompile it. You can get some idea by looking at the java class file then.
    Thanks,

Thanks........I'd seriously reconsider hosting Oracle db on Windows. Obviously there are many, many shops that do. And obviously it is often a case of the fact that they do not have (and choose to not acquire) expertise in Linux. But I've been in IT for 30+ years and have worked on IBM S-370 and its variants and descendents, Windows since v3, DEC VMS, IBM OS/2, Solaris, AIX, HPUX, and Oracle Linux. The first Oracle database I ever created was on Windows 3.11 and at that point I had never seen *nix.  Now I am in a position to state that Windows is the worst excuse of an operating system of any I have ever used.  I am constantly amazed/amused by how often (at least once a month on schedule, plus unplanned times) that our Windows SA has to send out a notice that he is re-booting his servers.  I can't remember the last time we had to reboot a Linux server ( I have 4 of them)
Yes, I'm biased away from Windows, but that bias comes from experience. Hardly a day goes by that I don't see something that causes me to say to whoever is in earshot "have I told you how much I hate Windows?"I was going to refrain from commenting on that, as I assumed they're a Windows shop and aren't open to any other OS (but my assumption could be incorrect).
I haven't been working in IT for as long as many of the folks around here, only about 10 years. I'm a former system admin that maintained both Linux and Windows servers, but my focus was on Windows. In the right hands, Windows can be rock solid. If a system admin has to reboot Windows servers often, he is most likely doing something wrong, or is rebooting for security updates. It's never as simple as "Windows Sucks," or "Linux Sucks;" it all depends on who's running the system (again, in my opinion).
I have seen some windows servers run uninterrupted for so long no one could remember the admin password. But more often memory leaks and the "weekly update" (replacing last weeks bugs with this weeks) is the culprit.
Yes, it really is sad how often you have to reboot for updates if you want to keep your system current. Mind you, it's better to have the fixes then to not have them (maybe). I rebooted my servers about once every month at my old place... which is not that bad.
With that said, in my experience, Oracle on Windows is a major pain. It takes me much longer to do anything. Once you get proficient with a CLI like the bash shell, the Windows GUI can't compare.Agreed. One of my many complaints about Windows is the poor excuse of a shell processor. I'm pretty proficient in command line scripting, but still cringe when I have to do it. Practically every line of code I write for a command script is accompanied by the remark "this is so lame compared to what I could do with a shell script". Same for vi vs. notepad. But my real problem is the memory leaks and the registry. I'm fairly comfortable hacking certain areas of the registry, but the need to and the arcane linkages between different areas of the registry and how they influence 'process environment' remains a mystery to all but a tiny minority of admins. Compare to *nix where everything is well documented and "knowable".
One (of many) anecdotal experiences, this with my personal Win7 laptop. One time it crashed and refused to reboot. A bit of a google search turned up some arcane keystroke sequence to put it into some sort of recovery mode on bootup .. similar to getting into the bios, but the keystroke sequence was much more complex .. it may have involved standing on one foot while entering the sequence. Anyway, it entered a recovery process I've never seen before or since and repaired everything. My first thought was "hey, that was pretty cool." Then my second thought was 'but only Windows would need such a facility.
Bottom line? To paraphrase a famous Tom Hanks character, "My momma always said Windows was like a box of chocolates. You never know just what you'll get."Haha... I like that one. Yes, the registry is definitely horrible. It's amazing to me that a single point of failure was Microsoft's answer to INI files.
I think Windows and nix have their places. Server work definitely seems more productive to me in a nix environment, but I think I'd jump off a cliff if I had to use it as my desktop environment day-in-day-out. The other problem is application lock-down; I can't blame the OS for that, but it's a reality... and using virtualization to run those applications seems to defeat the point to me.

  • Table to update the substitutes for workflows

Hello, as it is the table to update the substitutes for workflows?

    Hi,
    Yes - HRUS_D2
Try using function module RH_SUBSTITUTES_LIST or RH_SUBSTITUTION_MAINTAIN to do the maintenance of substitutes.
If this is done in the background then there is an RFC function module (don't know this off by heart though)

  • Basic questions in SRM for Workflows+need material

    Hi All,
I have developed Workflows in SAP R3.I am very new to SRM. I have following questions -
    1. What is the use of BADI when we implement Workflow? My understanding till now is to provide all approvers to the
Shooping Cart. That means for workflows without approval we dont need to BADI to implement.
    2. Is there any other concepts more i have to know? Like in R3 Event will be triggered with help of change doc, status mang., LIS exceptions and all through SWEC tx. is it same in R3?
Sorry to ask very basic questions.
Can anyone provide me step to step guide to configure SRM workflows and Cookbook for SRM?
My Email id is [email protected]
It will be very helpful for me.
       Thanks in advance.
       Ashwani

    Hi,
    1.All the n step workflows(where approvers are determined dynamically) in SRM can be implemented only using the BADI "BBP_WFL_APPROV_BADI".the main purpose of this BADI is to fetch the Approvers/agents for the workflow.In addition to the  n step WF,you also have no approval, 1 step and 2 step approval workflow in which the agent assignment can be done directly(no BADI reqd) and this is applicable for all types of business objects i.e. Shopping cart,Bid etc.For more details refer the foll link;
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_srm40/helpdata/en/17/40a86c773d6c41801d78af1a34b90f/content.htm
2.Work flow concepts are same as in R/3.So techincally you can create your custom workflows in the same way.
Do let me know if you need any further help.

  • User exit for workflow WS20000075  agent determination for PO

    Hi,
I have requirement to determine agents for workflow WS20000075 for PO from Ztable entry.  Is that customer exit EXIT_SAPLEBNF_005 will work ?

    Hi ,
Try assigning a new Agent Rule in the Task TS20000166.
You will have to create a custom rule using transaction PFAC. Choose option "F - Agent dertermination function to be executed" and assign a new Z function module which will determine your agent.
You can refer to function module ME_REL_GET_RESPONSIBLE while creating your own function module.
    Cheers!!!

  • SAP Hardware sizing for "User-Based sizing".

    Short Text
    User-based Hardware Sizing
    Long Text
    Dear SAP Support,
We would like to know the SAP Hardware sizing for "User-Based sizing".
    Our queries is
    1. In "User-Based sizing", What we have to consider,
the number of users are calculated in the basis of
Concurrent users in the system in a given point of time
    or
total number of users logged into the systems in the whole day?
We have referred the SAP document "Sizing SAP System" and the above
    point are not clearly mentioned.
    Regards,

As the document says there are number of possible definitions for "users" in SAP context...
For understanding assume that no of users logged to the system they consume different resources / areas in the system, some login to the system whole day but they don't work whole day, some user open multiple session to work while other open multiple session but they don't exactly work on it which means (every new session consume memory/resources) like you said their are concurrent users wherein they work and consume resources (SAP WPs)
So before finalizing the sizing first compare the both reports (user based, thorhgput) and read the advantages and disadvantages for both. You can also consult with SAP / Account Manager to help you
as per SAP document there's no point in counting no of pc's, laptops to calculate no of users
    Also refer:
