Skipping full server name in openDocument

Hi guys
The following syntax u201C<a href=../../opendoc/openDocument.jsp?u201D  in linking reports was OK for WebI XI R2. But in XI 3.1 I get WIO 00002 error.
Can anybody explain what has changed?
Regards, Alex

Hi Alexander,
BusinessObjects does not support relative path linking from Java Panel because in this case Java Applet comes in to Picture.
In order for the linking to resolve in Java Panel, have to use absolute path syntax.
This is not a bug, this behaviour is by Design.
I hope this Helps....
Thanks...

  • Reference to database and/or server name in '' is not supported in this version of SQL Server

    Hello all
    I am using C# and ADO.NET (native) - Visual Studio 2013.
    I am always using full qualified queries like "SELECT * FROM [database].[schema].[table]"
    Obviously there is a problem when doing this against SQL Azure,
    I get the following error: "Reference to database and/or server name in '' is not supported in this version of SQL Server"
    Interesting fact: With SQL Management Studio, the same query works.
    I need to know if this error is really a true one or not.
    If yes, I can quit using SQL Azure. I would need a SQL Server and not a partial SQL Server :-)
    Thanks and best regards
    Frank

    Hi,
    Here are my suggestions:
    1. Use partially qualified queries, because:
    a. from a security standpoint, you'd want to limit your login's access across the server instance
    b. in order to achieve a even better, you should specify your database as the Initial Catalog directly in the SQL Connection.
    If you take into account these practices, SQL Database doesn't come with any limitation from that point of view.
    However, in regard to 'With SQL Management Studio, the same query works', this is actually only partially true because if you run that query agains ADO.NET, you'll actually end up in switching databases along the query which is obviously not permitted in
    SQL Database since you're running in a hosted black-box version of SQL you're not managing. It's just like running the USE <dbname> command which obviously doesn't work.

  • Domain name/"primary DNS" name/mail host name/mail server name/mx name

    Hi,
    I have registered my domain name (N.com) with an external dns server and created an MX record (mail.N.com) for it as well. My server sits behind a router and internet traffic is port(80)-forwarded to my server's fixed internal ip address (I can access my webpages from the internet just fine). When I initially setup the server I was asked to give it a "primary DNS name." I naturally assumed that N.com was supposed to be entered here, but that just caused all kinds of problems (though I still do not understand why). So I reinstalled and currently have server.N.com as the primary DNS name of the server (although it shows up in Server Admin and Workgroup Manager as server.local--why is that?)
    I have had no luck getting any email from the internet with the default settings in mail services (domain name of N.com and host name of server.N.com). Having no luck with the defaults, I assumed that maybe I needed to change the host name to "mail.N.com" so that it matched the MX record. I also changed the user preferences in Workgroup Manager to receive mail from mail.N.com--but still no luck. Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong and how come none of the Mail Service literature mentions anything about what a mail "host name" is supposed to be? Is it supposed to be the same as the "Mail Server" name that Workgroup Manager asks each user for? and is it the same as the MX record name?
    I am just needing some help to connect all these variously named, but undefined, dots.
    Also, how come I can access webmail from the internet using www.N.com/webmail but can't do it from any computers within my physical network (I have to use IPaddress/webmail or server.local/webmail)?
    Also, should my user email addresses be [email protected] or [email protected] (which is the current default)?
    Thanks in advance and good luck!
    John

    I had been told by a friend that ... regular email coming in from the internet would go through port 80
    Unfortunately you were misinformed.
    My MX record needs the extra subname (such as "mail") in front of the domain name, right?
    Not at all. A MX record for 'N.com' is entirely valid (expected, in fact).
    An MX record tells remote mail servers where to send mail for any domain/subdomain. If you think about it, let's say you worked for Apple and you wanted people to be able to send email to [email protected], well then you need an MX record for 'apple.com'.
    You can see if you dig MX apple.com that they actually have 9 MX records, but the point still stands.
    Now, you might also have MX records for subdomains so that you can have [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc. Each of these subdomains would need a separate MX record.
    So, in general, for any set of email addresses @[anything.]domain.com you have a MX record telling remote mail servers where to send that mail.
    Of course the MX record name is mail.N.com, but I think you are implying that the in the Mail settings of Server Admin where it asks for domain name all I need to put there is the N.com, right?
    What I mean is that you need to set the domain name to whatever domain name you expect to receive mail at.
    If you want users to have email addresses in the form of [email protected], then you enter 'N.com'.
    If you want users to have email addresses in the form of [email protected] then you enter 'mail.N.com'.
    If you want both forms, enter one in the main domain and add the other(s) in the Advanced -> Hosting -> Local Host Aliases section.
    Is there anything in the Mail settings that needs to have the full MX record name (mail.N.com)?
    Yes. Either the 'domain name' or the 'Local Host Aliases' needs to contain the same thing as your MX record. That's because the MX record tells remote servers to send mail to this machine, but the machine won't accept the mail unless it is configured to do so.
    What is the "host name" supposed to be?
    This should be the name that remote servers see when this machine tries to send outgoing mail.
    Ideally this should match the reverse DNS of your IP address, that way when it connects to a remote server it says "Hi, I'm $hostname" and the remote server can lookup the machine's IP address and see the same result. This will reduce the problem of remote servers thinking you're sending them spam.
    If you only have a single IP address then this probably needs to be something like 'N.com'. If you don't have control over your reverse DNS then you're going to run into a problem.
    Also in the user accounts (in Workgroup Manager) what should the "mail server name" be? Is it the host name or the domain name?
    Off hand, I don't know.
    Also, why are all the default user email addresses [email protected] (the name I gave the server at setup)? Why doesn't the user accounts create [email protected] as the default address?
    Presumably because the mail server says it is 'server.N.com' and therefore any accounts on that machine would be [email protected]. Changing the domain name (as above) should fix that.

    Hi,
    I have copied a number of SSID packages from a live server to my test server and am trying to get them up and running but I have a problem with the connection. The only thing that is different is the server name. I decided to keep the same connection in the connection manager as it is referenced in a dtsConfig file. I changed the dtsConfig file to reference the new servername [Data Source= new test server name]. I also check my paths and they are pointing to the correct config locations etc.
    I found this post which was similar to my problem but I still get problems with the connection
    http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1319961&SiteID=1
    I updated the connection by changing the server name in the actual connection. I did this from the data flow tab in the Connection Managers sections (MS Visual Studio). Right clicked - Edit - changed the name of the server name to my test server and selected the database. Test connection was fine, and saved this.
    Once I saved this, the connection string changed to my current test server in the properties of the connection. However when I run the package I get the following error:
    Error: 0xC0202009 at ReportsImport, Connection manager "myconnectionstring": SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.

    Error: 0xC0024107 at Myprocess import from file: There were errors during task validation.
    So even if I change the existing connection properties and save and Build my package again, my connection properties (connectionstring, servername etc) all revert back to its original data source when I re-open the package. Simply it does not seem to be saving the connection properties i put in.
    What am I doing wrong or how can I change the existing connection manager to look at the new server. The database is  the same and I have full admin privilege on the server.
    I don't want to recreate my packages as there are alot and they are not simple.
    After changing the connection properties, saving and reloading I get a connection error. But this is because it is not retaining the new connection manger setting i entered.
    Incidentally - I created a new SSID to perform a simple connection and write to the the server and it was OK so there is no problem with actually seeing the my test server.
    Thanks in advance

    Yes, the package is in visual studio and I have executed it. There are no errors but in the output i have the error message about my connection. My dtsConfig file is added to the project in the 'Package Configuration Organizer' and path and files are correct. This is the output error:
    Error: 0xC020801C at xx import from file, xxReportsImport [79]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER.  The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "myconnectionname" failed with error code 0xC0202009.  There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed.
    I will try and run it using dtexec.exe. if I have two config files do i use
    dtsexec.exe /f <packagename> /conf <configfile> /conf <secondconfigfile>

  • How to get the full path name of a file

    Hey everybody, I'm new here and in Java.
    so I will explain my question by giving an example:
    I want to send file from the Desktop by the "Send to" on the popup menu to my program.
    I want to know how can I read the full path name and the file name, and show it on my text box.
    Thanx alot

    If this is a client side application then I'd say look into drag-n-drop tutorials.
    i.e. drag file to your application, action listener fires, create File object giving you full name and path of users action.
    If this is a web application then look into the "multipart/form-data" content type specifications on how to upload files.
    i.e. user specifies file from <input type='file' ... /> type, submits, servlet receives data and recreates file locally on application server side.
    If you are thinking that all you need to send a file to a program is the full path and name in a textbox its a little bit more complicated then that.
    Good luck, hope that helps!

  • When Hard-coded server name and data base name are replaced with variables , execute process task does not produce the result

    Hi All,
    I am trying to load shape file into a sql spatial table. A execution process task is used to run the ogr2ogr.exe program.
    This is how the process tab looks like .
    Executable : C:\gdal_ogr2ogr\bin\gdal\apps\ogr2ogr.exe
    Argument :  -f MSSQLSpatial   MSSQL:server=SQL-ABC-DEV;database=MYSIMPLE_Dev;Trusted_Connection=True;\\mypath\files\shares\Data\www.mypage.htm\my_sample_file.shp
    Success value : 1
    For above settings, package runs fine. The spatial table is created in SQL server db. However when hard-coded SQL server name and database name are replaced with global variables , the spatial table is not created in the database. Yet the package runs fine.
    It does not throw any errors. (I am using another variable for full file path. It is not causing any errors though)
    " -f MSSQLSpatial   MSSQL:server="+@[$Project::SQLServerName]+";database="+ @[$Project::DatabaseName] +";Trusted_Connection=True;"+ @[User::Filepath] + "\\my_sample_file.shp"
    Both variables are string type. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong here please?
    I am running this in VS 2012.
    Thanks for your help in advance..
    shamen

    There should be a single space just after True:
    before
    " -f MSSQLSpatial   MSSQL:server="+@[$Project::SQLServerName]+";database="+ @[$Project::DatabaseName] +";Trusted_Connection=True;"+ @[User::Filepath] + "\\my_sample_file.shp"
    after keeping the space
    " -f MSSQLSpatial   MSSQL:server="+@[$Project::SQLServerName]+";database="+ @[$Project::DatabaseName] +";Trusted_Connection=True; "+ @[User::Filepath] + "\\my_sample_file.shp"

  • Max Length of Essbase Server Name?

    Hi - we're installing 9.3.1 and are coming across a problem related to replicated partitions that I'm hoping someone else has also encountered and resolved.
    Since partitions aren't covered by the Migration Wizard, they were migrated from our 7X environment by exporting them from 7X as xml files, doing a "find/replace" within them to change the old server name to the new server name, and then reimporting them in the System 9 environment. Short names were used for this. This was done for them all (we have one or two dozen), and everything worked well. We kicked off a few and all was good.
    Then we went back a few days later and all of the partitions had gone to Orphan status. Looking at them just in the tree view in EAS, they were all saying that they were using the fully-qualified server name (which, in our environment, is 31 characters) instead of what we had originally created them under, which was much shorter: xxx-xxxx-xx = 11 characters. When you open one, it even still references the shorter names in the connection tab. However, whenever you execute one, it goes against the fully qualified name, which appears to be just 1 character too many, because every kickoff of replication fails saying that its an invalid server name, giving the full name ending with ".co" instead of ".com". We had a problem like this in 7X, but we could always get around it because the process would work if we just created and executed using the shorter name (also, we could use App Manager to kick them off, which I'm reluctant to do against System 9). Thus far, we've had no such luck in 9.3.1 - even new partitions created under the shorter name automatically orphan and use the longer name.
    While changing the server name is an option, I'm hoping someone knows of some way to get Essbase to read a server name longer than 30 chars, or to force Essbase to stop using the fully qualified name and just use the shorter one.
    Thanks much. Sorry for the long blow-by-blow.
    -Rob

    One way around this would be to use the IP address instead of the server name. I ran into a similar problem and that was the answer I was given by Oracle. (see my blog http://glennschwartzbergs-essbase-blog.blogspot.com/2008/08/partitions.html)

  • Returning full DNS name

    I'm writing a program that pings couple of computers from the list and returns some relevant information like IP Address and DNS, but I can't seem to get it to return full DNS name. I'm using InetAddress class to get this done and here is the code I'm using:
    try
                   InetAddress inet = InetAddress.getByName(hostName);
                   boolean status = inet.isReachable(5000);
                   if (status)
                        System.out.println(inet.getCanonicalHostName() + " Host Reached");
                   else
                        System.out.println(inet.getCanonicalHostName() + " Host Unreachable");
              catch (UnknownHostException e)
                System.err.println("Host does not exists");
            catch (IOException e)
                System.err.println("Error in reaching the Host");
            }This only returns full DNS names on computers that have trusted connection but I need it to return it for all of the computers. I have same program written in C# and I was able to do it easily. I just can't seem to figure it out in Java. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great, thanks.

    Hi Rainer,
    if you have a naming convention, which includes parts of the ftp server name into the name of the communication channel, you could try the search in Integration Directory (config).

  • Changed server name, reconfiged emca, still getting java errors on console

    I installed 10gr2 with local database control only, and had all working fine. I then moved the server into production after testing and changed the server name. Of course this changed all the settings for dbconsole so I ran the emca config again from some info I got off of this forum a week or so ago. I can't seem to find that thread any more, and I need to get this working. I could not find any more references to the old server name, but the java error is still showing one. I can bring up the login page and login, but then it wont display any info.
    I've been searching to see what I need to do to totally re-install the local database control component but can't seem to find anything. I am also going to eventually have grid control running on another machine as well, but I imagine that I still have to have all the proper things in place on this server before I can connect either thru grid control or locally in any case.

    REPOSITORY_URL=http://winms-wwscale.millsite.net:5500/em/upload/
    I searched every file in the <server url> directory and changed any references to the old servername to the new one. The only ones that showed up were for isqlplus items.
    I am pretty sure I have run the "emca dbcontrol db -repos recreate" command, but perhaps I'll do it again. I also have a thread going on this in metalink and one suggestion is to do the following:
    SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;
    STARTUP RESTRICT;
    A. Drop the repository manually using following procedure.
    Stop the DB Console if not already stoped: $ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl stop dbconsole
    Log on in sqlplus as sys user and run the following commands:
    a. drop user sysman cascade;
    b. drop role MGMT_USER;
    c. drop user MGMT_VIEW cascade;
    d. drop public synonym MGMT_TARGET_BLACKOUTS;
    e. drop public synonym SETEMVIEWUSERCONTEXT;
    (Note If any of the above statement failed and saying object doesn't exist just skip that
    statement)
    B. Drop the DB Control configuration files.
    Remove the following directories:
    $rm -rf $ORACLE_HOME/<HOSTNAME_SID>
    $rm -rf $ORACLE_HOME/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_<HOSTNAME_SID>
    On Windows systems just delete the folders above from the Explorer.
    You have to replace the values in the <> with the correct values from your environment .
    The shutdown and startup restrict seems a tad severe to me, I'm thinking thats if others may be trying to access the database control page while you are doing all of this.

    Hi!
    I followed the following steps to configure a clustered environment with two machines:

    The config.xml file located at ../user_projects/domains/mydomain/config/ in Machine 1 has the full environment setup, however the same file on machine 2 only has admin server configuration.
    Why it happens? These two files must be synchronized? The config.xml in the Machine 2 is used by who? Admin server uses this file?
    Thanks a lot
    A.

    If your newly created managed server is on a 3rd machine you will still need to 'pack/unpack', to transport the configuration files to the new machine.
    If your 3rd managed server share domain_home with an already existing managed server you wont need to do this. In this case when a new managed server is created in the admin console, the admin server will propogate the change to the existing managed server which will update its configuration files in its local domain_home. The new server when starting will pick up this updated details from the shared location and will be able to start.
    You were doing the pack after creating admin server alone. So the config files transported to remote machine has only details of Admin Server and using that you were trying to start the managed server, where i it clearly failed saying that it can't find that managed server name in its configuration.
    If you have adavance knowledge of how many managed servers you need to create , at the time of domain creation, the right way is to configure all the man servers in the domain configuration wizard and then use pack/unpack to distribute the configuration files to each of the remote machine where the managed servers run.
    Hope it makes sense.

  • Server name changes - how to?

    Hi All
    We have a PoC consisting of 5 or so servers, no HA, roles combined on the first (master) RDS server, the remaining are for individual Collections.
    We are contemplating transitioning to Production, either build from scratch or utilise PoC and expand (by adding HA).  However our server naming convention includes letters relating to Dev, Test, or Production status.
    Experimentation reveals that a change of server name on the 'master' RDS server renders RDS inactive, it vanishes from Server Manager RDS management tool.
    Can anyone recommend an approved/working server rename process?
    Is there a best practice guide for Production architecture?
    Many thanks
    Lea

    Hi,
    You need first to inventory whatever applications that are installed on the RDSH servers and make sure users will still be able to access after removal of the RDS configuration or migrate these to a different server.
    - Then upon what role services you have configured within ther RDS you can:
    - Remove Remote desktop services Gateway; RD Connection Broker
    - Remove/uninstall RDL CALs from the RDL licensing server.
    - Remove the RDSH servers from the RDL licesing configuration.
    - Deactivate RDL Licensing server and uinstall the role service
    - Uninstall the RDSH role service
    You can check this article for step by step points. Also
    can go through this link. If you remove the full role then we need to again get all the roles installed again and revert back to default page.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Where do you put the  SMTP Server Name  ?

    I am trying to set up the email address of the SNMP.
    i can set up the Server SNMP Agents and the trap destinations, but can't find where to specifiy the SMTP Server Name i.e our company email address name [email protected]
    I looked in security realms can't find it.
    Any ideas

    Hi,
    Here is sample setup for AIX machine.
    SETUP:
    GC agent installed in AGENT_ORACLE_HOME
    RDBMS installed in RDBMS_ORACLE_HOME
    Database and listener up and running, monitored by Grid Control,
    this implies that the AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml contains the correct credentials for the database.
    The listener name given ion RDBMS_ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora is identical to the name of that listener target in Grid Control.
    AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/sqlnet.ora must exist.
    SETUP steps needed for operating system AIX:
    A. AIX is using its native snmp deamon pointing to the snmpdv3 deamon (this is the default on AIX5L):
    [hostname]/root> ls -l /usr/sbin/snmpd
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 9 Jul 24 2009 /usr/sbin/snmpd@ -> snmpdv3ne*
    B. The script AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/network/snmp/peer/start_peer has needs to be corrected on AIX :
    1. the locations of "whoami" needs to be corrected from "/usr/ucb/whoami" to "/bin/whoami"
    2. the command starting the os snmp deamon must be changed to
    $SNMPD $SNMPD_OPTIONS -p $NEW_SNMPD_PORT >snmpd.out 2>&1 &
    Alternatively add two blocks for operating system AIX:
    elif [ "$uname" = "AIX" ] ; then
    USERID=`/bin/whoami`
    SNMPD=/usr/sbin/snmpd
    SNMPD_CONFIG=/etc/snmpdv3.conf

    echo "Starting $SNMPD ..."
    echo "$SNMPD $SNMPD_OPTIONS -p $NEW_SNMPD_PORT >snmpd.out 2>&1 &"
    $SNMPD $SNMPD_OPTIONS -p $NEW_SNMPD_PORT >snmpd.out 2>&1 &

  • SLD Object Server name

    Hi,
    This is for PI 7.0.
    I got to http://<hostname>:50000/sld and choose <b>Administrator</b> link.
    On the right middle/bottom there is a Object Server name. This <b>Object Server</b> name is <b>localhost</b>. Where do I have to change it so I can see the actual host. I am expecting it to be a actual host name. My SAPLOCALHOSTFULL is set to full name.
    Please let me know if anybody has any idea about it.
    Regards.

    What do you mean by assumptions Mr. Ahmad?
    I have done the post installation steps for SLD and ran the template as well. They all finished successfully. Now as I said that it an AIX server, you can never open a SLD home page from the server. It has to be a windows based machine. I use my laptop to open the web pages of lot of SAP related stuff like /sld or /unseradmin etc. What I do is I type
    http://dpix100:50000/sld.
    Now you see from the above that I am not using localhost but rather an actual host to login.
    So I do not know what you mean by “are you working from ur local machine or working on XI server directly” because I can never work directly from XI server as far as opening a SLD page is concern.
    Now when you install XI on AIX/UNIX, by default it has localhost at lot of places. One has to change it. Read my last reply where I am saying how to change it and read the SDN link as well.
    My question is that I do not se that Object Server link on the Administrator page.
    Please reply if anybody has any idea about it.
    Regards.

  • Regarding SMTP server name

    Friends,
                  I have configured mail transport for portal. In SMTP server name I have given its IP address. Is it right or i should give address like "smtp.xxx.xx". I am expecting some quick response.
    regards,
    M.Arunkumar.

    Hi Arunkumar
    It should work. Heres is a working example, I've used:
    JavaMailTransport, xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, Sent Items, SMTP Server
