Sky store/on demand

Does anybody know when roughly new films come out on Sky Movies premier or on demand, there doesn't seem to be any general rule so is there a way of checking particular films? Non-Stop came out beginning of last year and there is no sign of it on Premier yet and is still to rent in sky store! Into The Storm came out last August and is already on Premier so do certain films just not get on Premier? Reason i ask is because my Wife was wondering when 50 Shades of Grey will be on Premier.any advise will be good.

It all boils down to what agreements Sky has in place with the various film studios as to when and if films appear on Sky Movies Premier. Sky haven't got agreements with all the film studios and their films which is why some films have never appeared on Premier but do show up on other channels like Channel 4 or Film 4.

  • HH2 & Sky wireless On Demand box loss of connectio...

I used to have no trouble downloading via Sky On Demand using the wireless box back to a Home Hub 2.
Virtually every time we try & download via On Demand it fails after a while resulting in my other wireless items (tablet) losing connection. My main PC is wired.
When i go in the Sky settings it reads:
    Connection to Broadband Router OK
    Connection to On Demand FAIL
Running a cable from router to Skybox is not an option although i do have one of those powerline extenders for use with my Smart TV.
    Why does this happen?
Did wonder if there is not a fix to use the powerline extender used for my Smart TV to connect to Skybox instead as we rarely use Smart TV functions.
Just desperate to be able to use On Demand again

If the two are next to each other, then simply add a cheap Ethernet switch at the end of the powerine adapter link, as shown in this example here.

You will have four ports you can use, so you connect the TV and the Sky box, and still have two spare ports.

  • How can I force ITunes store to demand a password before purchases?

A certain teen offspring of mine is ordering ITunes songs at will and regardless of cost or my warnings for her to stop. It's set up so you just go into ITunes store and order, i.e. it bypasses any password question. How can I force the process to demand a password which I have already set? This way she would have to ask permission from me, and I can decide yes or no.

Remove your CC info. Re-add it when you want to purchase then remove it immediately after.
Also, change your iTunes password and log out of the iTunes store.
It's set up so you just go into ITunes store and order, i.e. it bypasses any password question
Select the iTunes store in iTunes.
Log out of the iTunes store.
Find any item to purchase (or download free) then click on Buy.
A window will pop up and ask you to log in to the store.
Uncheck *Remember password for purchasing*. This will require a password a when you make a purchase. If you have removed your CC info, that will also need to be input to make a purchase.

  • Sky atlantic / on demand

In the opening post, you say you subscribe to the Family Pack?

I subscribe to Sky Atlantic as part of the family package.  I do not subscribe to the HD channel. I want to download episode 1 of The Tunnel, as I have the rest of the series already recorded, but it will not let me download, it is telling me that I have to upgrade and subscribe to the family channel.  Why is the happening, I can download all other Sky Atlantic programmes, but not this one. Thanks

  • Can't download certain on-demand Sky1 programs, says I need to upgrade (but it's on my subscription)

Hi I tried to download/watch "The last ship S1 ep10" from ondemand (sky 1) normal SD version - a banner pops up and says I need to upgrade to watch this. I have Sky 1 as part of my subscription and can download most other Sky 1 on-demand programs no problem - but sometimes certain programs/series will state I need to upgrade to 'family'. Please help.

I agree this is not fair, and yes sky making more money i think if the series is still going, it should not be put into the sky box sets until at least it has finished for a few months, i remember when you could get sky box free when you added the internet, one of their great ways to add your router it was all free, and slowly they are taking it away, i wanted to record esp 1 of a series just started on sky 1 and i cant, cause they have already put it in sky box, this is so stupid, i have been with them for many years and have multi room, i have told them what they charge is enough and i will not pay extra for hd etc, they way this is going i will be looking elsewhere and dumping sky

  • Any new sky box in development ?

    any news

Goodness, so you work for the BBC engineering dept? I have an email from them from 2000 saying HD TV was nit necessary for British viewers as the 29" TV would be the standard as British homes were smaller than American...
HDTV started in Japan in the 1990's in analog form and digital HD started in the USA at the end of the 1990's. In Britain you are right thata lit of Satellite bandwidth is wastes on repeat +1 and +2 broadcasts which Sky + makes irrelevant. Do not blame TV manufacturers (by the way they are working on 8K, 4K is old hat now and 4K content has been streamed in some markets for a while. The Sony service is excellent and hopefully 4K Blu Rays which launch end of year in Region A. The blame ahould be on government regulation that allows for the cheap rerun non HD channels. I believe that all channels should be forced to offer a 720p or 1080i service by end 2017.
I look to Sky to carry the flag. If it was not for Sky I do not think HD would yet be a reality in the UK. BBC would continue engineering tests and patronize and ITV would be looking at what they can close next. The delay on colour and stereo was much greater than HD. Sky needs to grow revenue and other than increasing subscribers which gets harder as penetration grows. One can sell extra services. I do not like soccer and I do not watch game of thrones so I end up paying more for nothing. Sky should be flying the flag for consumer choice and innovation not being dragged along by the competition. It is the same as the stupid buy to own in Sky Store and Dky Go. You buy a movie in HD and get srnt an SD DVD or you pay for HD and sky go does not support it. 3D was a waste of time but increasing definition and improved compression is here to stay. The question is will Sky keep share if streamjng services offer better quality product.

  • How to watch purchased films on Sky go??

I want to view the films I've purchased and received DVDs for on my phone or tablet but don't know where to find these???

You can find the sky store and other apps here:

  • Log in requires non sky emails

My wife tried to log on to her account on the website. After pressing enter another page came up requesting another e-mail which must not be a sky.com address.  It must have recognised her initial id and password as it said "Hi * ". I then tried and exactly the same thing happened to me. I contacted the customer support and the guy on the other end of the phone was as good as useless and couldn't tell me why it was doing this. He assured me it was okay to fill the form in. His lack of knowledge made me wary but I filled it in. Fortunately I have a second non sky email acct and this submisssion allowed me in.I know some sites use a second e-mail as a security measure to inform you if your primary is (felt to be)compromised but I haven't seen anything about this for Sky. Why is this suddenly happening??We both received emails(from the Sky iD Team) after submitting the second address all about making life easier by using one email address to ssign in instaed of multiple user ids. This is what makes me think this is new. Am I right??

Yes that's correct. What I have just noticed is that my primary sky account is the account that I have signed into this forum with and  that one I did put my google address in when I was trying to set up Sky Store. Now the alerts to say there is a new message is going to my google account. The suspicious part of me thinks that this could be for if sky need to contact you (I am thinking along the lines of if they suspended your account for whatever reason they can still contact you !!)

  • Only some movies I have placed in iTunes "Movies" are viewable via Apple TV.  Why?  Also some movies have blue dots in front of their titles and some don't . Why?

Only some movies I have placed in iTunes "Movies" are viewable via Apple TV.  Why?  Also some movies have blue dots in front of their titles and some don't . Why?

Please understand I am a frustrated customer like you,  , but the availability of movies that have been shown before is dependant on licencing from the rights owners. Sky quite rightly have to pay the film studios for the ability to show to Sky's customers. As I understand it they purchase the right for a period of time, hence when the right expires then it has to be removed. The costing of the movies does reflect on the anticipated popularity of the programme, hence an older less popular movie might seem expensive but if not many people watch and pay that would be right. The apparent silliness of having movies in the store and on demand, allows those people who do not have a movie subscription to rent the movie on a one off basis. I agree that Sky seem to be licencing some programmes for shorter periods and it really upsets me when movies appear in buy and keep but not available to rent only. I recently queried Sky about Fortitude being available in OnDemand until 2022!, then of course found out that Sky owns the rights of the series. I can only say be careful if you are a movies subscriber and wish to watch a movie, not to select the Sky Store version if it is available in the Movies on Demand section. I recently wanted to watch a film that I found in Sky store at a cost, and just to be sure I searched for it and found it was to be shown on Channel 4 in a few days. I don't think we'll ever understand how such decision are made as to how long they licence movies for and how the charging model works with the film studios. Logically you would think that a smallish fee to have available indefinately and to pay the studio fee based on the number of rentals would be better, but that might be difficult to administer and Sky would have to have extra server storage fees, which they outsource. Hope that help you understand

  • Film Selection on BT You View is rubbish

hi i reported this to the executive complaints but after two weeks nothing has happened, the only result of my complaint was a tech guy who sorted one problem out for me and was very good.
As for the film selection on BT is terrible it seems we take your money and nothing happens, i reported the poor selection via phone and then at a last resort to the executive office, i mean lets be honest here after two weeks if you where concerned it would be fixed well if you cared it would be.
check out the sc-fi same two movies  only 2 movies in sc-fi there is over 200,000 free movies out there to view and they are not exactly sc-fi, and because someone did not add a Horror selection they are placed in the Action movie selection, to be honest its the worst selection i have ever seen and the attitude of the executive office at BT is terrible, and i would not employ them if they worked for me!
it does not take a fool to see that some of the pay-for movies  are out on sky general viewing and have been for some time, but someone cannot be bothered, i ran databases and we could update very easy it takes a little time and effort, i am glad i have tried BT because i can honestly say i will be leaving Sky is offering 50% off i will get the patronising we are working on it and i was given a link to raise suggestions too. in otherwords don't bother us at executive level we are only interested in picking up the pay check well if anyone has any common sense they will leave Sky and Virgin have better attitude and are prepared to update and offer value for money. i am counting the months because as far as i am concerned everything goes infinity the lot.

I agree that the BT film subscription is not worth £60/year but a good combination is Now TV,  Netflix and Sky Store, all of which I access using a Roku box because the integrated on demand players are so flaky on the Youview box.
But if you are happy to add a Roku box the content is infinitely better than BT Film and although the subscription costs for Netflix and Now TV are more expensive than BT Film, it is considerably cheaper and arguably better than any  Sky subscription. If the Roku had a Amazon Prime Instant video app there wouldnt be any discussion imo.

  • About the 3D channel

Put quite simply, there isn't a 3D channel anymore, it was closed down earlier this week. However, you can still access 3D content, films, documentaries etc. , from On Demand.   For a couple of weeks before the 3D channel closed & the transition was being made, you could have found 3D content via the Top Picks tile on the Home Page. This has nowbeen removed.   Here is where you can now find 3D content. If you have access to Sky Box Sets then here'swhere you'll find 3D programmes but not films. Select Box Sets from the Home Page & then scrollacross the tabs to the 3D tab. There's no extra charge for these programmes.  If you have a Sky Movies HD subscription then select Sky Movies from the Home Page & keep scrolling across to the 3D tile where you'll find available films at no extra charge.  If you want to watch 3D films but don't have Sky Movies, then select Sky Store from the Home Page.Keep scrolling aross to the 3D tile. Here you'll find 3D films to rent, same as Pay Per View. Selecta film, press the info button on you remote & you'll see the price in the top left hand corner. There are currently 12 films available ranging from £4.99 to £6.99.  You can also use the Search facility to find 3D content. Simply type in 3D in the Search bar.  However, after a quick look, I see only about the first 5 - 6 pages have reliable information. There's a lot of content after that, that is definitely not 3D.

Here's a conversation I had elsewhere about this very subject with replies from a Sky employee.ME: I asked this on the main forum but haven't had a suitable answer & was wondering if it's an information error on the EPG  & Search. Q is: Why are all the films & programmes in 3D OD only in SD when the same films & programmes are in HD on the 3D channel?  SKY: By definition 3D content has to be in HD for it to work. It looks as if just the HD tag is missing in the synopsis as the file sizes look like 3D ones.SKY: We have had word back and it turns out that this is the way it is intended to be shown when listed within On Demand by the On demand scheduling team.ME: Have to say, that is a bit strange & if it gets noticed by others will probably lead to confusion. It could even put people off using 3D OD if they think it's all in SD. Are we allowed to say on the main board it is in HD ( I'm guessing it is despite the info? ) if anyone asks?SKY: I did think that as well but as I said previously, for it to work in 3D it has to be in HD. Yea don't have any issues with you saying on the main boards.  Hope this helps.

Log on to https://MySky.sky.com you should be able to find your account number there and also order the connector from the Sky store.

  • Why r holding back new movies subscribers

can u explain why u r charging for movies to movie subscribers such as the hobbit already on itv

You wont get any response from Sky as they do not reply to posts.
If a movie is in the rental section of on-demand or the Sky store then it will be because of rights restrictions from the content owners.

  • This computer is already associated with an Apple ID

I'm trying to download music I've purchased (in the past) via iTunes into my iMac. The past purchases were made [principally] via my iPad and, as a consequence, the actual music media is resident on my iPad. Since these music purchases, I've purchased an iMac. And, since the purchase of the iMac, I've received an iPod Nano as a gift (Christmas). The iMac is shared between my family members, each with their own Apple-ID and associated account. When I try to download the music I've purchased (in the past) via the "cloud icon" in iTunes, the iTunes store indicates "This computer is already associated with an Apple ID" and I need to wait "90 days" until I can download the rest of my music. So, I cannot download ANY music into the iMac under my personal user account and Apple-ID.
However, the aforementioned problem has disabled downloading music to my recently acquired iPod Nano (a Christmas gift), because the iPad Nano *can only obtain music via iTunes, via an iMac" (the IPod Nano lacks WiFi, so sync'ing can only be achieved via a USB-v2.0 port). So, my options are:
Buy another iMac desktop computer to download music to my iPod,
Wait until my birthday after March 2014 to actually use the iPod Nano I received on Christmas 2013.
Coordinate my iTunes purchases and potential gifts to occur on three (3) month boundaries and ensure that my iMac computer is NOT assoicated to any other Apple ID during this three (3) month period.
If option (3) get violated, implement Option (1) for any Apple device purchase.
Just as an aside, I'm a systems engineer and a software programmer of ~30 years. Honestly, the aforementioned options are the only options I have at this time to load purchased music into my iPod Nano (without hacking into my iMac to modify its MAC address). To me the whole iTunes thing seems a bit impetuous (being naive, unsophisticated, excessive, ridicilous). But maybe I don't understand the DCMA rights, media purchases, and Apple's marketing and sales strategies. But, REALLY?! c'mon Apple! Why not use the customer's Apple-ID *and* MAC address to verify authentication per device? Just using the MAC address would be OK if I were the only user of the *family's* iMac desktop computer. But, then, maybe that's an Apple sales strategy, only one user per iMac desktop computer? f this is the case, I will be visiting my local Apple Store to *DEMAND* a refund for all purchased Apple products (phones, tablets, laptops, desktop computers, and my iPod Nano Christmas gift) and I'm going back to Android, Linux, and Amazon-MP3s.

    Same issue here.
It's not an error. It's a purposeful, arbitrary restriction put in place by content owners to prevent law-abiding citizens from organizing, sharing and using media that they purchased. Never mind that a nefarious pirate can circumvent these restrictions with 17 keystrokes.
It's the equivalent of the TSA: They're very good at finding Grandma Gertrude's nail clippers, but not so good at catching a shoe bomber.
God forbid that my wife has access to a file I downloaded with my iTunes account on a computer associated with my Apple ID. So let's prevent the converse by preventing her from signing in to the same computer using her Apple ID.
    Pretty obscene--and pretty much useless--restriction.
