Skype Daesung

I wanted to renew my subscription for calling to Australia from South Korea - have been doing so for nearly a year.
But this time when I went to renew my subscription the browser goes to the Skype Daesung page - even if I wanted to buy one of the (not useful to me) subscriptions through this partner website it requires me to sign into their separate account - which I do not want to do.
Could someone please help me out of this predicament as i really need to remain in contact with people in Australia without paying through my nose for it!

Charisse R: Thank you!
Charisse R: It shows that you are using an outdated Skype version. Old versions are retiring now including version 6.1 for Windows desktop. Updating it directly using the Skype app won't work since outdated version won't connect to our server anymore. Let's manually update it.

Name: hmm
Name: that webpage worked
Charisse R: Okay.
Name: but it said the file could not be foudn
Name: found*
Charisse R: Can you try it using Internet Explorer?
Name: so it appears that download.skype.com is not being hijacked by skype.daesung.com
Name: IE
Charisse R: No, actually, Daesung is our partner in South Korea.
Name: and chrome say this
Name: Hi, we couldn’t find this page Looks like the page you were trying to visit doesn’t exist or has been deleted. If you got here by a link from skype.com then let us know about the wrong or out of date link and we’ll fix it. Thanks. Since we’re not sure what you were looking for then here’s a bunch of things you might find useful:
Name: ah
Name: so its not a website hijack
Charisse R: No, it's based on your IP address or location.
Charisse R: Our system detected that you are currently located in South Korea, that's why it redirected to you Daesung.
Name: http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_6.22.64.104.msi doesnt exist. Is there a new version?
Charisse R: http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_6.21.64.104.msi
Charisse R: Can you try the one I posted above?
Name: that worked
Charisse R: Okay.
Name: Installing...
Charisse R: Let's wait.
Charisse R: I think I already found the download link in Daesung's website.
Name: cool
Name: I am logged in and running
Charisse R: Let's check if you can sign in.
Charisse R: http://skype.daesung.com/download/ndownwin.asp
Name: And the echo/sound test worked
Name: so everything seems to be good now
Charisse R: That's great!
Charisse R: You did awesome, Name.
Charisse R: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Name: I guess the issue was I had no idea that Skype had a partner here in Korea so I thought that the website was hijacked
Name: so I didnt trust the download on their site
Charisse R: I totally understand that, Name. It is because of rules in South Korea.
Name: Okay. Well thanks for the help
Charisse R: You are very much welcome. It's been a pleasure assisting you today. I hope you continue to enjoy Skype.
TLDR: Daesung is a partner of Skype so they should be at least trusted a tiny bit

  • Redirected to Korean page, why?

    Hi there,
when i click on the link for the free 1 month trial i get redirected to your korean page http://skype.daesung.com/product/PurchaseStep01.asp?pChoice=credit. When I then select the unlimited world subscription for KRW 14100 per month it doesnt calculate the 1 month free. Also the website isn't over a secure server to pay. The payment details page is just http instead of https, I will not give my details over a non secure form. http://skype.daesung.com/many_languages/en/pay_step3.asp

Skype in Korea has been taken over by a local company. Theyve added credit card purchasing features that are not compatible with english. Ive tried several times to reload my skype credit but failed.

    Hello,
For a few countries a legally binding agreement requires you to be transferred automatically to Skype's local partner website if you established your account in that country. This can't be changed. The workaround is to create a new account.
TIME ZONE - US EASTERN. LOCATION - PHILADELPHIA, PA, USA.
I recommend that you always run the latest Skype version: Windows & Mac

  • Skype Credit Problems in Korea

This is probably the wrong forum but there doesn't seem to be a right one. This is about the closes I could get.
I set up my Skype account in Canada but am living in Korea. I want to top up my credit but, based on IP address, always get routed to Skype's partner which lacks the insight to realize that there are plenty of Skype users in Korea who cannot navigate in Hangul. I'm not about to input vital financial info into fields that I'm not about 300% certain of.
I've also tried using Tor Browser which gets me to a proper Skype front end in Europe but my PayPal and credit card info are rejected, probably on the basis of Tor's signature.

That didn't do it. The account isn't "linked" or "tagged" as live support called it. The issue comes down to a simple IP redirect. My options are:
Find another way to spoof my IP Address
Quit Skype and use the competition, KakaoTalk
Get someone overseas to login and enter highly sensitive personal financial info on my behalf: NOT gonna happen!
Come on Skype! You can do better than this. Either lean on your partners to supply a FULL range of services or provide you international subscribers with a gateway that redirects to the payment portal in the HOME country of origin.

  • Keep getting redirected to Daesung in Korea

I used to live in Korea and had to use Skype's partner Daesung.
I no longer live in Korea, and I have updated my online information, but I can't

How can I turn off Daesung and set up a payment system using a Canadian credit card?

I think there is a problem with apps accessing microphone gain.......  is there a fix?

  • Skype hangs when I login with my ID

    Hi
I have two skype accounts. One for office and one personal. Till yesterday I was able to use both. Today am able to login to skype using my office ID but when I login using my personal skype ID ([Removed for privacy]) skype stops responding. I am able to login using this ID on my phone. I uninstalled and installed skype again, changed my password, but nothing seems to work. Please look into this issue.
I can also login to skype.com using this ID and post this topic.
    Thanks
    Ajeesh

Try to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
If you are on the latest Skype 6.5/6.6/6.7/6.9/6.10/6.11/6.13/6.14 version, then do also this:
Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
    Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

If you do not lock that folder immediately after deleting all the contents, it will simply populate again (Resume - a "feature" in Lion). You do that by doing a Get Info (highlight folder and press Command + I keys), unlock the lock at the bottom, enter your admin password, then check the box to lock the folder. lock the lock and you're done.
Yes, that is correct. The alternative is to quit all applications prior to logging out. Lion will then have a chance to remove the saved states.

    And, for the OP:
It has also been a regular feature of Mac OS to automatically open any window that was open at shutdown. To avoit that behavior, simply close any Finder windows and  properly quit applications by closing their window and using Command + Q (or File >Quit).
This was true only for the Finder. Prior to Lion, no other apps would launch unless they were included in the Login Items for the account. And the OS would not restore windows for other apps.
A very small number of apps (TextWrangler is an example) implemented this capability prior to Lion. They could restore previously opened windows. But that is an application feature, and can be controlled by the application's preferences. Lion implements it at the system level, and users have virtually no control on a per application basis.

  • Facebook and skype notifications

I have a lumia 920 and can't get fb and skype notifications work.
The worked just after the installation of the apps, but then they stopped working.
The apps are fine, I just don't see toast nor tile notifications.
Any ideas? This isn't a borderline issue for a smartphone..
    Fabio

I'm not talking about FB chat. That is ok on my phone.
I'm referring to facebook notifications instead (comments, likes and so on):
Me tile has too much limited functionalities (for instance no groups notifications..), thus I installed FB Microsoft app.
In the app notifications are sometimes working. But most of the time I couldn't get them, even after a long time after their publishing.
It seems to be a facebook app issue in this case, but is it possible on a smartphone to lack social functionalities like this? I'm not talking about minor socials web sites, but Facebook.
The forum is plenty of topics describing exactly this issue, but no solutions yet.
    Does someone have any news?

    Hi.
I have a Skype account and have just added 2 new members to my team who will be working from home. Can I give them access to use my buisness Skype account to make calls form their own PCs in their own home or do I need to setup a new account with calls subscription for each of them on thier own machine?
Any advice will be gratefully received.

Hi, Language Angels, and welcome to the Community,
I would strongly urge a review the Terms of Use and Fair Usage policies prior to proceeding:  http://www.skype.com/en/legal/
Allowing multiple people to use one account is not only mentioned in the Terms of Use as not allowed, but could also find the account suspended as an anti-fraud measure.  Best to create new accounts and add the needed subscriptions and/or credit.   You might also research if Skype Manager would be useful:  http://www.skype.com/en/features/skype-manager/
    Best regards,
    Elaine

  • Windows 7 Crash (Blue Screen) with Skype 6.18 on H...

    Hi,
I think a lot of people are having the same problem with Skype 6.18 on HP Pavilion notebooks.
Windows 7 crashes during the auto-update or installation of 6.18
After about 3-4 hours of troubleshooting the Blue Screen / service exception error (in ks.sys) I discovered that it's caused by the HP HD Webcam [Fixed] driver (version is 6.0.1113.1 released 2012-11-20 (or 20-11-2012)).
The driver is written by Sonix and is unlikely to be updated. So you have the choice of going back to an older version of Skype or disabling the webcam / driver through Device Manager. As soon as you disable the driver / device Skype will install / start - but of course you won't be able to use video during Skype calls.
Hopefully Microsoft / Skype will fix the driver incompatibility in a future release.
Skype Support - the issue is with the HP / Sonix driver - file is snp2uvc.sys
There are similar issues reported with a previous version of the HP HD Webcam driver as well (SPUVCBv_x64.sys).
Please fix it. I'd like to use video in calls again!

The best working solution at this time is to download and install Skype 6.14 and disable updates.  If you still get prompts to upgrade you can ignore them and the program should continue to function as it has not been retired as of yet.  Hopefully there will be a resolution in a future Skype update or an updated driver from HP that might resolve the issue.

Hello, I've updated the iPhone I have got I have a problem I hope you respond to some of the applications no longer work, such as the safari and skype and many applications are no longer working with the ios7.0.4

    Standard troubleshooting...
    1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider.  Slide to power off.  Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
    2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
    3. Remove apps from Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Swipe up on the app preview card to remove it from the list
    - Press the home button when done.
    4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
    5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
    6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.
