SLD - Create JCO - nullpointer

Hello,
When i try to create a jco destination in my SLD (2004s SP13), i get a nullpointer exception (see below). The sld is configured correctly, and technical systems too, because when i use the SLD from my CE 7.1 i can create a JCO for the technical systems...
It's just something in the webdynpro for creating JCO's in my SLD that triggers the nullpointer exception. Is it possible to redeploy the SLD applications for creating JCO destinations?
Kind regards,
J.

Hi,
If your SLD is configured correctly (try the test SLD connection in webdynpro content administration), you can try the following things:
1. in the SLD -> technical Systems -> Web AS Java , choose the JCO Destinations tab, there u can remove some jco destinations if you want.
2. In the  visual administrator, where u did the configuration, send the data again to your SLD (this will remove outdated applications in the SLD)
This solved the issue for me.
Kind regards,
Joren

  • AS Java 7.10: Can't create JCO destination 'WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST' in SLD

    Hello,
I registered my J2EE 7.10 in the central SLD (sldmain.wdf.sap.corp:53000) successfully and created JCO destinations WD_RF_METADATA_DEST + WD_MODELDATA_DEST there. But the deployment of a WD application using Adaptive RFC fails because the above JCO destinations are not found (or access to SLD fails at all?). I didn't find any documentaion on how exactly the 2 destinations must be configured. On the central SLD there's no test/ping function for JCO-destinations! Could it be that my WD-deployer still tries to access a local SLD?
    <b>Root Cause</b>
The initial exception that caused the request to fail, was:
<b>com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Failed to resolve JCO destination name 'WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST' in the SLD. No such JCO destination is defined in the SLD.</b>

    Jen,
Edit your JCo destinations and make sure you have Metadata as data type.  I am guessing you are getting this error becuase you might have selected Application data as data type.
    Hope this helps

  • Buttons disabled while creating JCO- SLD configured in solman

    Hi All,
I have configured SLD in solman. And I have made relevant entries in Visual Administrator also.
When I try to create jco in my portal, all buttons are disabled.
I had faced this problem when I had configured SLD in portal itself and that got resolved after I searched through the forum.
But here I have no clue where i am going wrong.

  • SLD problem while creating JCO

    Hi all,
I am creating JCO from WebDynpro Content Administration for a RFC model but when I go to JCO connections it don't allow me to create. The link is disabled and when I "check SLD" it gives error "Connection to System Landscape Directory (SLD) could not opended successfully"
can any one help me in this?
    Thanks
    Ninad

    Hi,
You can check and modify the SLD configuration settings of the J2EE Engine using the Visual Administrator. Log on as an administrator user and double click on Server  ->  Services  ->  SLD Data Supplier.
Switch to tab CIM Client Generation Settings. If the HTTP connection parameters host, port, user and password are not set, then the SLD is not configured to be used by Web Dynpro applications. Configure the parameters with the values of the central SLD system and save the configuration. Select CIMClient Test to test if the configuration data is correct and the connection to SLD could be established.

    Hi,
You see an exception with a message like:
    NullPointerException, maintaining JCo destinations.
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.serverimpl.wdc.sl.SystemLandscapeFactory.checkStatus(SystemLandscapeFactory.java:991)
    at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.sl.api.WDSystemLandscape.checkStatus(WDSystemLandscape.java:469)
cause for this error might be that:
some fields for the backened system used to setup the JCO destination are not updated properly that is in SLD. Once you have configured your SLD please also ensure that you have selected the relevant "Message Server Connection". The Message Server, system name and logon group must not be left empty. And ensure that SLD contains up to date and complete information about backened systems
You also need to ensure that the SLD is setup properly. click on the test connection to check that the SLD is up and running.
    Hope it helps.

  • Couldn't create jco client connection for logical system

    Dear Experts,
we are facing a strange issue in our custom webdynpro java application, few of our portal users are getting the "couldn't create jco client connection for logical system" for Model Data JCO Destination. below are details
    1. portal version 7.02 SP14 (we have recently updated to SP14 from SP02-- is this is causing the issue ?)
1.1. updated the NWDI track with SP14 SCA files as well as added latest WD Runtime SCA file deployed the applications to Production also.
    2. above said exception is inconsistent and happening for only few users
    3. ping and test of jco destinations are successfull in content administration as well as in SLD, destinations were added in the SLD system.
    4. cleared the JCO ARFC meta data cache in webdynpro console
    5. jco destinations are configured using uid/pwd, configured user is not locked active and tested in the backend by logging in with the same user.
    6. restarted the portal server
even though, we are getting the above said exception for few of portal users randomly.
Please help me on this ASAP, as i am not getting any further help on this.
    Thanks,
    Ram.

    Hello Ram,
Check the JCo Pool Configuration settings of your JCO Destination. This message normally comes when the maximum connections has been reached. Increase the "Maximum Connections" to some number depending on the usage. A good habit is to disconnect the jco connection after executing the same in your webdynpro code if you don't want it to be synchronous.
    <ModelName>.modelInstance().disconnectIfAlive()
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
    Vijay

  • Create JCO destination option not available

    Dear All,
I am trying to make a JCO connection in CE.
    However the buttons for
"Create JCo Destination","Maintain JCo Destinations" are disabled.
The status for built-in JCO destinations  WD_MODELDATA_DEST
    WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST is shown as unknown.
The "Enable" button is also disabled.
Also i am getting the error "Connection to System Landscape Directory (SLD) could not be opened successfully".
Can anyone please help me in this.
    Thanks and regards,
    Mayuresh.

    Hi Mayuresh,
In nwa go to Configuration Management->Infrastructure->SLD Data Supplier Connection->Destinations.
    Create a Destination.
Ping the destination to check if it is successful.
After that you can create a JCO Connection.

  • Settings SLD and JCO connection for Java Web Dynpro

    Hi BI Gurus,
I'm a Business Intelligence newbye and I'm a bit confused about Web Dynpro configurations.
I try to execute, through Netweaver Developer Studio 7, a simple java Web Dynpro who call the standard Flight List BAPI.
My configuration is: NW 2004s installed on BI server (with java instance and j2EE Server) and Flight List BAPI stored on R/3 ECC. 5 System in another server.
    Now, my doubt are:
    1) in SLD Data Supplier (J2EE Visual Admin on BI Server) CIM configuration, what are the connections parameter necessary? The BI host or R/3 host?
2)if I set BW system parameters in SLD and in NWDS when I try to run my simple web dynpro an error occour This is the output:
The initial exception that caused the request to fail, was:
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Failed to resolve JCO destination name 'WD_FLIGHTLIST_RFC_METADATA_DEST' in the SLD. No such JCO destination is defined in the SLD.
    Correction Hints
Accessing the System Landsape Directory (SLD) failed. Depending on the concrete reason (see root cause) check the following:
is the SLD Supplier in the J2EE engine configured correctly? See the SLD documentation for more details about the SLD and about how to configure it.
are all JCO destinations maintained correctly? Use the preinstalled Web Dynpro Content Admin application to check/edit the destination. Use the Ping and Test functions of the Content Admin to verify that each destination is properly configured.
Additional information about the System Landscape Directory and the Web Dynpro Content Admin can be found in the SAP Developer Network (SDN) and in the Online Help for the SAP Web Application Server (installed with SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio and available online).
Note: the above hints are only a guess. They are automatically derived from the exception that occurred and therefore can't be guaranteed to address the original problem in all cases.
3)where can I create new JCO connections? What are the requirements settings?
I am always available for answers about the post!!
    Help me please!!
Thanks thousand and sorry for my incorrect english!!

    Andrea,
You can Create the JCo destination from Content Administrator. You must login as Administrator.
    use the link as
http://<server>:<port>/webdynpro/welcome/Welcome.jsp, select Content Administator->Create JCo Destinations/Maintain JCo Destinations.
Please have a look on the following links regarding creating/maintaining JCo destinations. The are usally asked questions regarding JCo destinations.
