Slide size different

I am working with a slide 800x600 in Captivate 6.0.1.240 on a Windows 7 machine.
The working slide is the layout I want.  But the filmstrip shows the slide size that is displayed and it crops off the working slide evenly on all sides.
How do I change the settings on the display size to show what I design on the working slide?

Hello,
I never did see this that bad.... when you use the 'Large' size for the filmstrip, I have a little bit of cropping but not at all like yours. Can you change to Medium, and tell if it is still cropped?

  • Different slides size , same project

    Hi!
I would like to know how I can have slides with different sizes in the same project without loosing image quality?
When I import the slides into the master project the images become so small that I badly can read the slide, also all the actions I included in the previous project is lost when I import these slides. Anyone can explain how this works and how I could work with slides with different sizes on the same project.
    Thanks

Resizing screencaptures in any way is almost guaranteed to result in loss of clarity.  If you've captured at a different screen size to the project where you want to copy and display the captures, and then resize the graphics to try and accommodate the new size, you will find that edges of on screen text in particular will lose crispness and become fuzzy.  Only when kept at exactly 100% of capture size will you be able to preserve full quality and crisp edges.  This is only usually an issue with screen captures of software interfaces where the original capture format was GIF, PNG, or BMP due to "lossless" compression. Graphics that began life as JPGs use a totally different "lossy" compression algorithm which is designed for working with gradients and shaded blends as is usually found in photographs.
Unfortunately, Advanced Actions created in one Captivate project file cannot be copied to another project file in current versions of Captivate.  However, this IS something we've requested for future versions of Captivate as more and more Captivate authors are discovering the power of Advanced Actions and want to share them across projects without having to recreate them each and every time.
If you know in advance that all modules in a particular elearning course will require specific variables or actions, the recommended workaround is to create a Captivate template (in advance) that is used as the starter for all modules.  This way, you don't have to create all of the actions from scratch each time.  However, this only works if you have done your preliminary design requirements quite thoroughly and know in advance exactly what Advanced Action functionality your projects will require.
I'd have to admit that I still haven't found a way to accurately anticipate such requirements in practice.  I tend to "discover" a lot of requirements for functionality during the course of the development that I never thought of at the beginning of the project.  But that's just me. Your mileage may differ.

  • Maximum Slide Size

Anyone know if Keynote has a maximum slide size? I'm trying to create a Keynote presentation with a slide size of 4272X1080 and it won't seem to let me put that size in the custom slide settings. I've tried different sizes, but anything above 4000 gives me the error tone. Anyone else had luck entering a larger size? I'm wondering if 4000 may be the max Keynote will allow.

4000 is the max for Keynote.

  • Is there a way to adjust a slide size beyond what the presets are?

You know how different templates have different sizes maxes, such as in these examples:
Well is there a way to make a smaller template, larger? A lot of the templates that I'd really like to use in my project, are just too small.

Yes, in the Document pane of the inspector, towards the bottom, you'll see "Slide Size" click the button next to it and choose "Custom slide size..."
Now, when you put in this new size, and it stretches your graphics larger, they may not look as nice as you want, but that's how you change the size.

  • Scale content when changing slide size

If I resize my keynote slide size to a different aspect ratio, is there a way to have it scale all the content?
I have hundreds of Illustrator files that I have imported into keynote (by drag/drop and it seems to rasterized the image). Making the slide size taller makes the background show through above and below my images. It would be nice if I didn't have to select and scale each individual image using the inspector. I realize the image will "stretch".
I did read someone's suggestion to batch the files in photoshop and resize them all, then re-import them all, but it would make a new presentation and I would lose all my notes and transitions.
    thanks

This is an issue happening on your Mac, it is not a common problem, in fact Keynote has never crashed on my system since installing.
Try the following repair for Keynote,  ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1  delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application
2  restart the Mac;   Apple menu > restart
3  immediately after the start chime,  press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
let it fully boot up,  it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4  when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive  then First Aid tab and      click  repair disc permissions
5  when complete, restart the Mac normally
6  install Keynote from the Mac App Store
Please report back to let us know if this helped.

  • Minimum slide size change

I would like to make a banner or rail slide (720x90) but cant seem to make any slide less than 200pixels (H or W). I would like to export as fla after.
How can I make a slide smaller than the custom size will allow? (under 200 pixels either way).
Is there a way in the code somewhere to set the min sizing different than the 200?
    thanks...

If you need to present in different size ratios (e.g., the 4:3 of 1024x768 vs. widescreen HD of 1920x1080) it is wisest to create two separate presentations. Since the slides are of different proportions, there is no way to automatically scale the slides and preserve the proportions.
Do note that Keynote does have preferences that allow you to have a presentation fill the screen (as much as possible) -- in Preference, under Slideshow, check "Scale slides up to fit display". This option will not stretch your slides, and so again if you are using an HD-proportioned monitor with a 4:3 presentation, it will leave black space to the left and right of the presentation.

  • Default slide size?

I noticed that the default slide size in Keynote '08 is now 1024 x 768. Does anyone know how or if you can change the "default" slide size to some other value? Kind of a pain to have to do it every time I create a document.

Well this is crazy. There just aren't that many variations in settings on this software. I can't imagine why this doesn't work for me.
    Thanks.
edit: Nevermind! The Keynote preference file was corrupt. Deleting that fixed it for me. Sorry I didn't think of the obvious first. Amazing that it is corrupt on two different computers. Translating the .plist from iWork '06 components must cause some problems in some cases.

  • Slide size change destorys presentaiton...

I am working on a presentation, and thought it would be wise to change the slide size to fit the larger monitor I would be using (changed from 1024x768 to 1920x1080). Everything scaled fine.
To my horror, when I changed the slide size back to 1024x768, nothing scaled properly...the pictures were now to small, lines across the page were now an inch short on both sides, etc. Essentially, it destroyed a lot of work.
    1) is there a way to use keynote in a slide size that fills the screen you are using (ie no letterbox) without destroying your presentation when you change the slide size back?
    2) Any way to recover from my current situation?
    thanks

  • Super wide slide size to optimize screen resolution to Barco Encore

Trying to wrap my mind around choosing the right slide size for a 5.6666:1 aspect slide to display on two 4:3 and one middle 3:1 screens continuously. The last show, we were limited to a resolution to the Encore board of 1600x1200 so with a slide so wide, our vertical resolution was quite small (282 px) and text was becoming fuzzy. Normally, we can do 1920x1080 or 2048x1080 but the Encore was having trouble acquiring the signal higher than 1600x1200.
This superwide is new to me, normally I do 3:1 on one mac and 4:3 on another and things are great. It would be great to have the option of building one large slide to have the option of flying things across all screens for big openers or being able to put different things on the outboard screens without running a third mac. I made a test slide with pngs, photo jpeg, ai logo file and text in several fonts and sizes. Only the text seems to be having quality issues (stairstepping on curves and white fuzz around edges), even at large sizes (48px).
Anyone have any ideas to get the best quality for text? I tried Helvetica, Palatino and Trebuchet.
I realize that this is a pretty specialized question but maybe someone else does superwides.

    Hi there
Many authors settle on 800x600. Keep in mind, however, that you also have the option of presenting the TOC as an overlay.

  • Can I set 16:10 (1920x1200) as default slide size?

Does anyone know if I can set the slide size to 16:10 as default rather than having to go in change it from 16:9 to custom each time I open a new slide?

    @Nick
Not sure if you have gotten much help or figured a work around but here is something you might find useful, if not now, later.
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/24285/set-software-update-server
It is a great, simple, and small app which modifies the SUS plist in the user to your SUS address or can reset it back to the Apple default. Regarding the different names that are popping up, not quite sure what that is about but I would check your DNS Zones using Server Admin and make sure that all are set up with the correct schema.

  • Since downloading the 2013 Keynote upgrade, the slide image size on handouts with 3 slides per page option is very small. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping 3 slides per page   lines?

With the new Keynote upgrade (version 6.1), the slide image size on handouts is very small, which makes it difficult to read slide content when compiling lecture notes for students. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping to a format of 3 slides per page with lines?

A number of posts have reported the same issue, two workarounds:
    1
check the paper handling options or equivalent in your print dialogue box and set to scale to fit

in the Keynote option, in the dropdown menu in the Print section, select Individual Slides
then choose Layout, and set the number of pages, when printed you will have multiple pages on a single sheet.

  • Change slide size in 2 slide/page layout?

Several folks indicated that you can use the "layout" view to produce a handout with 2 slides per page. But there is still quite a bit of white space. How can you increase the slide size on the page to make them bigger? Also, is there a way to add page numbers to the page (I already have slide numbers).

    Rocketscience,
    welcome to the Keynote Discussions.
Well, I think the border around the two slides I print is just enough to punch and file the paper.
Oh, wait, I'm using [DIN] A4 format. Well, try this:
    * In the print dialog choose Layout from the "Copies & Pages"
dropdown box and set "Pages per Sheet" to 2
(you know that but I repeat it for other readers)
    * Choose Paper Handling from the same dropdown box and mark
"Scale to fit paper size:". Select A4 from the corresponding
dropdown box (yes, even if you don't use A4 format). Unmark
    "Scale down only".
    * Print you slides.
There's no possibility to add page (sheet) numbers in the print dialog. You could prepare a file in Keynote or Pages that only prints a page number and print these numbers in a second run on you handouts. Not very elegant but maybe better than to paginate with a counter

  • Slide Size Mysteriously Changed

    Hi,
I was working on a slide presentation and all of a sudden I noticed in Navigotor mode the thumbnail pictures of the top 2 slides were scrambled and undistinguishable. Then I noticed that the thumbnails seemed smaller for some reason and wondered if I just imagining it. Then, once I closed the document, chose not to save it, reopened... there was a left and right strip of white or "blank" margin on both sides of all of my slides and of the navigator thumbnail pictures were a little smaller in addition to the additional white margins that made them even smaller.
I first went to my "Document Inspector" and wanted to see if I could figure out what might have changed with the slide size but didn't see anything that might cause this to happen.
Is it possible my file became corrupted somehow and now I have to rebuild my whole presentation to remove the white borders and restore proper size to my presentation?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
    Steve

The file is acting as if the slide resolutions were inadvertently increased. This may be a symptom of corruption. You should be able to copy the information off of the slides, but I'm not sure there is a single fix to remedy the situation. Any material that is based on an object on the slide Masters (such as the title box and body box) can be changed across the entire presentation by changing those items in the relevant Masters. Perhaps someone else has run across this and has better advice for recovery.

  • Slide size and cropping

If I produce a presentation based on my standard screen resolution (1680 by 1050) and then use a projector which as I understand is 4:3 proportion how is the screen/slide cropped? If I set my slide size to 1200 by 900 then I can see what will happen. But what if my slide size is say 1680 x 1050? Will the slide get squashed or cropped? Or will the black screen area surrounding the slide change width?
    Thanks

Your projector will be 1024x768 (probably). Use that to set up your slideshow when you program it, AND crop your pix to the right pixel dimensions. That way your processor has to do as little as possible when you present, and the effects are as fast and smooth as possible. On your laptop, it will fill the height of the screen and crop the sides. (Set it in the prefs). It will be sharper on the projector than on the laptop, 'cos the projector is working at its native resolution, but the laptop is resampling.
