Slideshow Software for 2 External Displays

I'm hooking up 2 different displays to a new Mac Mini. I'm looking for software I can use to run different continuous slideshows on each display. Anyone have any experience with this and have any software recommendations?

Hello,
Wondering if you had success with this? I am also trying to display a slideshow/movie on two large 42in displays that will play continuosly. They are to run in a community/kids cafe all day/everyday. Ideally, I am setting it to remote into this computer and control the content which displays, but initially I want to have a slideshow play in a loop. Any help, guidence or suggestions would be awesome. I am relatively proficient with mac offerings and the platform. I can be reached outside this forum at [email protected] THANK YOU for any help you provide me!
Cheers,
Joe

  • USB to HDMI adapter for external display in clamshell mode?

    Hello.
Does anyone know of a USB to HDMI (or DVI) adapter so that I can connect an external display (with an HDMI or DVI cable) to a USB port on my Macbook air?
I need to run it in clamshell mode, mirroring the Air display. The Monoprice  USB to HDMI adapter (which uses DislplayLink drivers) I tried does not work properly in clamshell mode with mirroring (though it works in arrangement mode).  I know I can use the Thunderbolt port, but I need to leave this free for a Firewire device.
    Thanks.

Unfortunately, I have the same problem, but using USB devices and Displaylink software.  I know there are issues with Displaylink software as they say the problem is with Apple.  I have three external monitors with a late 2008  I Macbook Pro which gives me four screens.  I was able to get two to work + the Macbook, but there were so many issues, like you described, that I have given up and I am just using the Mini Display port which gives me one external and the Macbook.  Looks like we will just have to wait until Apple does something.  I have found no other solutions at this point - hardware or otherwise.

  • Need advice for external display for my retina Macbook Pro.

I got my 15-inch retina Macbook Pro (Mid 2014) two months ago. It’s a fantastic machine but I am having some regrets concerning screen size. I want to be able to enjoy movies on my computer but 15-inch is just too small. So I am considering purchasing an external display for my Macbook Pro. I am thinking about a 25’’+ monitor (or TV) which can offer me closest experience to the retina one on my Macbook. I don’t want 4K monitors though, as most of the contents I consume are full HD 1080P. But I do care about PPI a lot (for browsing).
What kind of display can help me obtain this similar experience I get on my Mac? Any recommendations? Thanks.

I have the 15" MacBook Pro, Retina, Mid 2012 also, same exact model.  Kind of the same thing is happening with me.  I will intermitentyl get a flickering on the bottom 1/3 of the screen, all the way across.  It flickers/flashes on and off on the bottom half or third of the screen, when I am typing or when I am perfectly stil, doen't really matterl.  Only happens for a split second, but can do it multiple times, or sometimes not at all.  I can go tens of minutes without i hapenning, but I can also go tens of seconds with it happening multiple times.
It never goes black or grey or "out" at all, just randomly flickers throughout the day.
I do get burned-in images all the time, but they disappear within seconds.  But this flickering is definitely worrysome.  I did get the the Apple Care, so I am not too worried as Apple is usually good about this kind of thing, but I do have a similar problem to you and wanted to document this.  I didnt find many other people oiut there with this problem, so let me know what has gone on since your post on the New Year.  Any solution?  Did you call Apple?
    Thanks webrian.

  • Maximum Thunderbolt/VGA resolution for external displays?

    Hi there
Until recently, I've been using a Macbook Air Core 2 Duo with a MiniDisplayPort output. This is connected via the Apple MiniDisplayPort > VGA adaptor to an LG Flatron W2246 22" display, and running 1920x1080 quite happily.
I recently bought the Macbook Pro 15" quad core i7 with the Intel HD 3000 and AMD Radeon 6490M - a much more powerful machine with a much more powerful graphics card.
However, it only seems to allow me a maximum resolution of 1600x1200 on the Thunderbolt external display port - it won't give me an option for 1080p.
Any ideas? It seems strange that the Macbook Air will give me higher resultions!
    Thanks

I had similar issues to Jason with the technical documentation. It was clear on the maximum resolutions for the laptop's screen and the max resolution on an external monitor, and the max for single and dual link DVI on the adapter pages, but vague on VGA.
I suspected it should work since I have a PC laptop with a graphics card that is a generation behind that can do the full res of my monitor over VGA, but thank you BSteely for confirming this.

  • Highest resolution for external display for late 2012 retina?

I have a 15" late 2012 MBP with retina display.  I'd like to get an external monitor but I'm not sure about the highest resolution for an external display this Mac will support.  It looks like the 4K displays with only work with later models.  So what are you using and how do you like it?
    Thanks
    Amy

Yes, the 2012 MBP w/ Retina Display will support an external 4K display (using the Thunderbolt/mini display port)

  • Resolution choices for external displays

    Hello there,
is there any way I can modify the resolutions to choose from for an external display? The closest I can get is 1360x768, the native being 1366x768. The display has been detected properly (shows the name).
    Thanks

  • Windows 7 Bootcamp and Thunderbolt to VGA Adapters for External Displays MacBook Pro i5?

Is it possible to connect an external moniter to a MacBook Pro using a Thunderbolt to VGA adapter in Windows 7 (professional)? I have tried and tried, when booting, both moniters (both laptop and external) show the "Starting Windows" page, but the external blacks out on the user selection screen. That gives me hope... is there a driver out there that will let me use the external display in Windows 7?
    MacBook Pro
    i5, 4gig, 750gig.
    Windows 7 Pro
    Mac OSX Lion
    LG Flatron Wide
DisplayPort to VGA adapter (not apple brand, purchased on eBay).
    Thanks.

You shouldn't require a driver.  I would try booting as usual, then plugging in your external display.  In windows, you can hit "command-P" to toggle between your external display options (mirror, extend, etc.).  Once you do that, you should see the new display show up.

  • Macbook pro 2011 early cannot find right resolution for external display and keeps flickering

I have a macbook pro 2011 early running 10.9, and a LG FLATRON W2242T external screen. Also, I have a VGA to miniport from Apple and a VGA to HDMI, plus a HDMI to miniport(from Apple). By just connect with VGA to miniport to my MBP, it just flickers few times and stops detecting. But by connect VGA to HDMI converter and HDMI to miniport to my MBP, it keeps flickering, a non-stop flickering. The external screen always shows no signal. However, if I connect my MBP to my TV through HDMI to miniport, it works fine. But connecting the VGA port to my TV, it gets the same problem. I have tried clear my PRAM many times, and it gets the same result. Does anyone have the same problem? Thanks

Macbook Pro 15" Early 2011 external display won't work as it used while Snow Leopard, I hate you Lion so far. I cannot even Go Back!
Did you bother to backup or clone your SL installation before dumping it?

  • TV for external display of Macbook air

Is it possible to use LCD TV as external display to macbook air?
I am planning to utilize the macbook air as both portable and station PC. When I am at home, I want to be able to connect it to the LCD TV via HDMI, and then still working with wireless keyboard and mouse.
    Is it do-able?
    Thanks

Yes,  All you need is an MiniDisplay port to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable.

If you have the 2011 MBair then you plug this into the Thunderbolt port.

  • Change settings for external displays: no "mirror displays" mode

    Hello,
I'm using a 13" MBP with Snow Leopard. I'm using different displays and projectors in different locations. When you plug an external display in, the two displays are first in "mirror displays" mode. First thing I do is to switch this off.
Is there any way of changing the settings, so that an external display doesn't start in the synchronized mode??
    Thanks in advance.

only if you plug in this projector again. If you plug in a new projector (which I often do) it allways starts in "mirrored" mode.
I just found an app which - at least - makes the switching easier:

    Hello Markus

  • No 16:9 for external displays

I'm trying to use a 16:9 Plasma display with my G4 PB but the Mac's Display System Prefs do not offer me a 16:9 format option, such as 1280x720. So the aspect ratio is not correct. Am I doing something stupid? I can't believe Mac don't support 16:9 as it's virtually impossible to buy a hybrid display in the UK that isn't 16:9.
P.S. I have also tried it on my G5 but that doesn't offer 16:9 formats either. Has the 16:9 revolution passed unnoticed at Apple HQ?

Check the specs/instructions for the plasma display. Many of them do proprietary internal scaling/stretching voodoo and appear to a computer as a 4:3 aspect display.
Once you've verified any quirks in the plasma display you're working with, you might find either Display Config X or SwitchResX useful.

  • Off Topic: Slideshow Software for PC?

My wife has been using iPhoto at her preschool to create slide shows, and the other teachers are really impressed. ("It must have taken you forever to use powerpoint for that!" )
The first thing I have my wife tell them is, of course, "Get a Mac".
Failing that, are there any programs for Windows that make it just as easy to create slideshows?

We don't do Political Correctness here or windows.
However check to see if Picasa has slideshow capability.
