Slight lag on tv/monitor?

Hi! I'm using a Mac Pro 3,1 running Mavericks.  Since it's the HD2600 I only have the 2 dvi ports.  The monitors I'm using are 1) a Samsung Syncmaster B2430 and 2) a Seiki SC322TI.  The Samsung has been my tried and true for about 2 years now but I was given this Seiki and it looks and works pretty good.  I use a DVI cable that at the last second plugs into a DVI-HDMI adaptor and that plugs into the Seiki.  The other DVI is straight into the Samsung.
I notice a VERY SLIGHT lag when using my mouse when compared to the Samsung.  Here are the Seiki specs: http://www.seiki.com/support/archive/tv/ProdID45.php
What do you think would cause that?  Am I crazy?  I was thinking it might be because the pixels aren't as dense as they are on the Samsung (I presume?).  Thoughts?

Ah!  thanks Don't think it made a difference though.  I sat for a couple minutes going through all of the advanced options and seeing if any of them (like film mode) did anything but it didin't appear so.

  • Experiencing slight lag in some apps

Starting around a few days ago, I experienced slight lag in some games and apps that I have, mostly graphic-intensive ones (but some simple graphics ones also) and also iPod (tiny bit of lag when scrolling sometimes). Note that I did not upgrade to 3.0 yet since some games and apps are experiencing severe issues with 3.0 and I'm waiting for their update to come out before updating to 3.0. For games, sometimes the character would freeze for a fraction of a second, and for the next few seconds the framerate would be greatly reduced, but after those few seconds it would be normal again. Cutscenes will usually experience slightly lowered framerate since it's not perfectly smooth anymore, and with DDR-S (music rhythm game) often the arrows will be jumbled up and game will freeze for a second. Lots of apps will take a few seconds longer to respond/load. I have restarted my iPhone four times now, and I did not download anything except apps and games, or change any settings. It's also not a low disk space problem because I've had 2GB free space for at least a month now and it never lagged before.
Is this a problem with memory or something? But wouldn't that usually be solved by restarting? Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it, thanks.

    Ok since no one replied...
Does anyone know how I can contact Apple then?
It's quite amazing I did not find a single way to contact Apple in this official website, as no way I'm paying money to call them for help on a product I spent hundreds of dollar on.

  • Video (VLC and Quicktime) lags when other monitor is turned off

I have a mac mini running 10.6.1 with a dual monitor setup (mini dvi to dvi, and mini displayport to dvi). When i have a video running in either vlc or quicktime on one of the monitors and i turn the other monitor off, the video begins to lag every 3 seconds.
Any ideas what i could do to fix this?

Apparently something was up with my monitor connection. It was pushed in all the way, but when i took it out and put it back in the problem was fixed.

  • Adjustment lag using external monitor with 4.3

I have an Eizo external monitor connected to my MBP and use the external for editing.  I have been doing so for a couple years now and with all versions of Lightroom (even 4.2).  I have always been able to see the changes/edits real-time on the external monitors when adjusting something with one of the LR  sliders. Ever since I installed the latest LR update (4.3)- I don't see changes realtime. I have to wait until I let go of the mouse/slider to see the changes/adjustments.   Anyone else having this issue? Is there something g I can do to fix it?

I believe that change was made in order to improve performance in the Develop module.  If it's causing a problem in your workflow, you might like to report it here: Official Feature Request/Bug Report Forum

  • 10.6.8 upgrade slight lag?

I just recently upgraded my SL software from 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 and everything has run smoothly so far. However, I have noticed that when my computer boots up from turning on, it is slightly slower.
Is this just my Mac getting used to the upgrade, or is this a known tendency? 10.6.7 worked fine and I just wanted to keep my machine up to date. Will not upgrade to Lion until they get that battery drain problem fixed. 10.7.1 ain't enough.
    Any input's appreciated,
    thanks

(At least some) System Preferences are also gone - Mouse preferences anyway. One expects OS X patches to be better tested.

  • Using Multiple Speakers AppleTV has slight lag or delay to audio

    Hello all!
I recently purchased an Apple TV and have updated it to the latest versions as is all my software on my mac. For the last year I have used AirPort Express for streaming to my receiver across the room using a standard 1/8" to RCA stereo connection. When played on my computer at the same time it creates a nice room filling sound.
However, I tried using the Apple TV as the remote speaker instead of the AirPort Express since I have it hooked up with the optical cable instead for movies and what not obviously. However, there is a very slight delay when using the AppleTV as a remote speaker giving a slight reverb effect to the music playback.
I am going to test a regular analog audio out from the AppleTV later tonight in case it my be a signal processing issue with my receiver (Yamaha HTR-5500). However if anyone has any ideas in the interim, they would be appreciated. Thank you so much in advance!

    Thanks for the quick reply.
Both the Airport Express and the AppleTV go to the same receiver and therefore go to the same 5.1 speaker set up. It is either the Computer & AirPort Express or Computer & AppleTV going at the same time. I don't use all 3 out at the same time since that would be pointless.
Here is the basic hardware/network setup:
    - Ethernet connection from wall goes into AirPort Express for network dedicated for my upstairs man cave
    - Wireless connection feeds my iMac which in turn feeds the audio signal for AirTunes back to the AirPort Express
    - The Audio from the AirPort express goes directly into my receiver.
    - The AppleTV is wirelessly connected to the network as well.
I am aware of the mini-tos link on the AirPort Express but the way I have it set up it is also is the wireless router for my office and therefore is plugged directly into to the wall and the extra adapter is just a bit too much weight on it so i stuck with the basic stereo out since I only use it for music and anything in ProLogic cam be through a regular stereo signal if need be.
But yeah, I am going to try the analog out on the AppleTV tonight and whatever my results are I will post them here. Thanks so much!

  • Does anyone know why there is a slight lag in the brush tool in CS6?

This is not a huge problem, but it is annoying.  I have 8 gig of ram and a nvidia NX8600Gt vid card - never had problems in CS5.5 and expected CS6 to be better, but it is not.  Am I the only one experiencing this problem?

The normal suspect is the video card driver.  CS6 puts a lot more demands on video card.  Make sure driver is current, and keep looking for latest updates.

  • Slight lag using time capsule wifi with XP

Hi, I have a strange problem when I connect my Vaio to interent using TC wifi...there seems to be a few seconds of inactivity before i get to a web page, its getting annoying. I have no speed issues in downloading or speed tests ( also using wired internet all is ok), just when I enter a site address, nothing happens for say 10 seconds, then the page loads in stages...
    Any advice welcomed.

If the wired computer is on the network you should be able to access the printer. It won't matter whether the PC is wired or wireless. I'd surmise it's necessary to install the printer driver on the PC in a manner that recognizes it's not connected directly via USB, but via the wired network. I happen to know however, that if you try to add a network printer by telling the PC's Wizard that it's a network printer, it won't work. You have to tell the Wizard it's connected directly to the PC, even though it isn't, and somehow configure its port so that it finds it on the network.
Confusing? You bet. I've done it so I know it works, but unfortunately my piece of junk HP laptop is being repaired for the third time in two years and I don't recall the exact steps to follow. It took me a while to figure out.
You may find more resources to draw upon in the Airport for Windows forum.

  • Monitoring audio input through USB mic; lags

    Hi,
I've been trying to monitor my own voice in headphones when recording into Garageband, however I find the slight lag to be most distracting (I'm reading a script for a voiceover). Is there a way to have the monitored audio stay in real time, so as not to have that annoying lag? I've experienced similar issues using other software (like Adobe Soundbooth). Is the lag simply an aspect of all digital audio recording, or can I monitor in real time?
    Thanks,
    Vic

it IS a part of digital audio, but whether or not it's perceptible depends on all the hardware involved. without buying new hardware there are two things to do.
    make sure things are optimized:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html#optimize
(Let the page FULLY load. The link to your answer is at the top of your screen)
and if that isn't sufficient, only wear your cans over ONE ear, and do not use GB's monitor.

  • 13" Retina Macbook Pro 2014 slight trackpad lag + keyboard lag too

I am noticing a slight lag when i move the trackpad.
It only occurs, sometimes, if i let go of the trackpad for approx. 5 seconds or more, and i have to say that it is a very brief (<0.5 seconds) lag, but very annoying over time when you start noticing it.
This apply for all trackpad action so even 2 fingers scroll or just 1 finger mouse move.
This also apply for keyboard as well. After you don't touch keyboard for some short period of time like 5 sec or more than after you press some key there is small like <0.5 seconds delay after i see the char. I have no idea why this happen because on MBP 15" 2014 i own there are none of these issues.
This is VERY VERY annoying especially if you own a Macbook Pro 15" where everything is working well.
Fail on you APPLE on this one...

    Hello,
I just bought a new Macbook Pro OSX Yosemite this week. Retina, 15 inch, Mid 2014. 2.2 GHz i7. 16GB RAM. 256 GB HD. I've been noticing a lag when I use the trackpad and the bluetooth mighty mouse. It seems to happen completely randomly. If I don't use my computer for a long time and then start to use it again it sometimes lags for a second and then works, and then lags again, and on and on...
Sometimes the lags are 2 seconds long and sometimes they're less than 1 second long. It seems my mouse, trackpad AND keyboard are all affected by this problem. I'm pretty upset, seeing as how I paid over 2 grand for this computer. Does anybody have ANY idea at all what is causing this AND what I can do about it?? I'm not a huge computer guy.
The problem doesn't seem big enough to get a whole new computer. It seems like an Apple technician could fix this in 2 seconds. Wouldn't you agree? Please help. Thanks

  • 13" Retina Macbook Pro slight trackpad lag

I just got my new retina macbook pro 2 weeks ago, 2.8ghz i5, 8gb RAM, 500gb storage.
It has been running smoothly whatsoever, but now i am noticing a slight lag when i move the trackpad. It only occurs, sometimes, if i let go of the trackpad for approx. 5 seconds or more, and i have to say that it is a very brief (<0.5 seconds) lag, but very annoying over time when you start noticing it.
To me it seems like a UI lag, because i have no other problems with the trackpad - the lag only occurs during "the first touch" so to speak, the only real way for me to describe it is, as if the trackpad has to wake up when it hasn't been used for a few seconds. I have already tried to reset PRAM and SMC - and no background processes seem to be eating up CPU.....
Any thoughts? Is this common behavior or?
    Thanks in advance!

At least it is nice to hear that somebody else is noticing this, and that it isn't just me being oversensitive to lag..
I tried some other things to solve the problem:
    1. Install mouse acceleration software called "SmoothMouse" with no success.
    2. Install ControllerMate and tried to create a virtual mouse to simulate the input of an external mouse - also with no success.
In the upcoming week i will try to take my MBP to the local apple store and let them have a look at the problem, and i will try and see if i can compare my trackpad lag with some of the other MBP's in the store.
I just recently converted to Mac from PC, and have never experienced any sort of input lag like this before, no matter how sh***y the PC has been.... so i am pretty dissapointed from seeing it on a >2000$ machine that otherwise runs extremely smooth

  • Brush Lag? - Here are OpenGL settings that improve performance

For anyone having horrible Brush lag, please try the following settings and report your findings in this thread.
After much configuring and comparing CS4 vs CS3, I found that these settings do improve CS4's brush lag significantly. CS3 is still faster, but these settings made CS4 brush strokes a lot more responsive.
Please try these settings and share your experiences.
NOTE: these do not improve clone tool performance, the best way to improve clone performance right now seems to be to turn off the clone tools overlay feature.
Perhaps Adam or Chris from Adobe could explain what is happening here. The most significant option that improved performance appears to be the "Use for Image Display - OFF". I have no idea what this feature does or does not do but it does seem to be the biggest performance hit. The next most influential setting seems to be "3D Interaction Acceleration - OFF"
Set the following settings in Photoshop CS4 Preferences:
    OpenGL - ON
    Vsync - OFF
    3D Interaction Acceleration - OFF
    Force Bilinear Interpolation - OFF
    Advanced Drawing - ON
Use for Image Display - OFF
    Color Matching - ON

    Hi guys,
As I am having very little problems with my system I though I should post my specs and settings for comparison reasons.
    System - Asus p5Q deluxe,
    Intel quad 9650 3ghz,
    16gb pc6400 800Mhz ram,
loads of drives ( system drive on 10K 74gb Raptor, Vista partition on fast 500gb drive, Ps scratch on an another fast 500gb drive, the rest are storage/bk-ups ),
    Gainward 8800GTS 640mb GPU,
    30ins monitor @2560x1600 and a 24ins 1920x1200,
    Wacom tablet.
    PS CS4 x64bit
    Vista x64
    All latest drivers
No Antivirus. Index and superfetch is ON, Defender is ON
No internet connection except for updates
No faffing around with vista processes
Wacom Virtual HID and Wacom Mouse Monitor are disabled
nVidia GPU set to default settings
On this system I am able to produce massive images, the last major size was 150x600cm@200ppi and the brushes are smooth until they increased to around 700+ pixels then there is a slight lag of around 1 second if I draw fast, if I take it slow then there's no lag. All UI is snappy.
I have the following settings in Photoshop CS4 Preferences:
    Actual Ram: 14710MB
    Set to use (87%) :12790MB
    Scratch Disk
    on a separate fast 500gb - to become a 80gb ssd soon
    History state: 50
    Cache: 8
    OpenGL - ON
    Vsync - OFF
    3D Interaction Acceleration - OFF
    Force Bilinear Interpolation - OFF
    Advanced Drawing - ON
Use for Image Display - ON
    Color Matching - ON
I hope this helps in some way too...
EDIT: I should also add that I Defrag all my drives with a third party defrag software every night due to the large image files.

  • MXO2 vs Decklink for monitoring

    Master suite cs5
I am looking for something that will improve my external monitoring. (dell ultra sharp)
I am not really concerned with its encoding capabilities and i only use avchd, prores and dvcpro. Compressor (fcs2) is fine for h264 encoding. My capture is normally from an sd card.
I am not even sure if a Flanders and a Kona3 is necessary as the internet slowly takes over traditional TV broadcasting and high quality h264 begins to be a standard.
What i am trying to get is a better way to monitor the color as i am creating looks with PP, AE and magic bullet.
so could i go for a cheaper alternative and get better monitoring than my current BM intensity via hdmi?
    cheaper than mxo2

I use a BM SDI Decklink card, and it works pretty well in Premiere. I say pretty well because there is a very slight lag to it. As the Transmit technology is new in CS6 I'm fairly forgiving of this, hopefully new updates from Black Magic and Adobe fix this over time.
It works fine from any sequence preset for me, not just the Black Magic ones.
If you want better monitoring, I would definitely be looking at upgrading your monitor, not your output card.
    Jim Simon wrote:

You may want to rethink that.
"...you’ll be happy to know that Adobe Media Encoder is much easier to use than Compressor, encodes faster, and produces much higher quality [H.264] output..."
    http://www.eventdv.net/Articles/News/Feature/Tutorial-Encoding-H.264-V ideo-in-Adobe-Media-Encoder-CS5.5-and-Apple-Compressor-4-80446.htm
I'd be interested in more details about that, like what settings they used in Compressor and what the relative file sizes were between the two outputs. I've done a lot of h264 outputs from Compressor and I've never seen anything like the obvious levels of data loss they're showing. That said, I use Compressor 3, they're using Compressor 4. Maybe someone who's familiar with Compressor 4 can confirm whether things have changed and they no longer have a high quality output mode or something?

  • Dell 2005FPW causing mouse lag?

I recently purchased the Dell 2005FPW 20.5" widescreen LCD and am running it at 1600x1050. I have noticed a slight amount of mouse lag since swapping monitors (was using a Viewsonic P95f+ CRT). It's apparent enough enough to be annoying when trying to click on small spaces, such as close window, etc. This was not so with the CRT.
I have a Dual 2Ghz Power Mac G5 with 2GB of RAM, and the ATI Radeon 9650 video card (256MB VRAM). Seems like the video card should handle this display with no problems. Anyone else experience this issue and know how to correct it?
I hooked the Viewsonic CRT and the problem went away, so I know it's related to the Dell display. Please advise.

LCDs often have a 25 millisecond, or longer, response time, mostly in the turning off (going to black). People complain about this causing fast moving objects to leaving trails. Instead using a faster LCD panel, some companies fix this by processing the signal before it gets to the LCD. This involves anticipating the response time of the LCD and adjusting the signal to compensate for it. LCDs are slower turning off so they want to get turn-off signals there faster than turn-on signal. The only way to do this is to delay turn-on signals. This is fine for watching video with fast moving objects (as long as you delay the sound by the same amount), but causes problems positioning a cursor quickly, or playing some video games.
