Slow file transfer to Azure File Service

File transfer to Azure File Service (Beta) is very slow. Is this something that will be solved, or is there a trick to this?
Sean

  • Mixing multiple audio files using Windows Azure Media Services

    Hi,
I'm trying to "mix" multiple audio files on the server, e.g. I have 4 different .wav files for each instrument in my song: vocals, guitar, drums, bass.  I want to create a new stereo "mix" from these, but I want to change the relative
volume of one of the tracks, say vocals, or mute it altogether.  I can use libraries such as NAudio to achieve this, but I'm wondering if Windows Media Services can do this, and if so, can it do it dynamically, i.e. create a live stereo stream and allow
me to add/drop individual tracks on-the-fly.  I've been looking through documentation on Azure Media Services and Expression Encoder, but haven't found the answer.
    Thanks,
    Alan

    Hi Georgios,
There is support for using audio overlays in our service - see http://azure.microsoft.com/blog/2014/08/21/advanced-encoding-features-in-azure-media-encoder/ for examples. It may be possible to perform pairwise overlays to implement your scenario.
However, it's currently not possible for us to integrate customer-built processor code into our service.
    Cheers,
    Azure Media Services team

  • PDF file transfer writing target file with the same source file name

    Hi to all,
I want to transfer a PDF file from a SOURCE folder to a TARGET folder. My problem is that I want the target pdf file has the same name of the source pdf file. How can I do this? I have to look for some parameters in the sender or receiver channels?
    Thanks to all.

    Hi Gabriele,
If you want to FTP the pdf file from source to target directory, use this blog.  It doesn't require any IR devlopment.
    /people/william.li/blog/2006/09/08/how-to-send-any-data-even-binary-through-xi-without-using-the-integration-repository
Also, In sender and receiver comm channels select "Set/Use Adapter specific message attributes" and "File Name" to get the same file name in the target directory.

  • Is Samsung Kies or Android File Transfer recommended for file transfers from my OSX 10.9.4 to samsung note 2 and back?

appreciate if someone can tell me which is more user friendly, and if AFT is compatible with other android phones, that can only be a plus.
remember using kies on my pc in past and didnt remember it being that user friendly. please comment
    thanks in advance

Neither.  Kies is absolute rubbish and fails to connect to my Samsung S4 Mini. Ever.
Android File transfer doesn't work on Mavericks either.
I use wi-fi file transfer.  Not the worlds best user interface, I'll grant you but it works just fine.

  • Can Vbscript measure File transfer for mutliple files?

    Hi,
Can VBscript able to measure timing for multiple files transfer using WinActivate or other option?
    Example:
    copy C:\Single 3GB file to D:\
    copy C:\Single 5GB file to D:\

robocopy is using msdos to do transfer both files to D:\ and robocopy log file will have the duration of the file copy.
What I need to know is using vbscript to do in Windows for below task.
Robocopy does not use DOS, it is a Windows command.
Why does this need to be done using VBScript? If you really have to, you can either just use VBScript to launch Robocopy or you can use the method jrv mentioned up in the first post.

  • How to read data from excel file in windows azure cloud service?

I have a web application in visual studio 2010 and windows azure sdk.It asks the user to upload an excel file and then read its data
to the database. When i ran the application on localhost it ran perfectly but when I run it using windows azure sdk emulator (using my application as a web role) it gives the error "The Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local
machine".How to resolve this other than using OpenXml?

You can access office documents only if office COM objects (means office) is installed on the machine.
One option is using of Open.XML (why don't you want to use it?) and another option is to use Office365. However the later one would probably change the whole architecture of you application.
One workaround might be to save Excel file as HTML and read it as HTML. This will not give you all of Open.XML and COM power, but you can very easy access and change data.

  • File Transfer via Zip File

I have started using the CC and found out that I cannot upload folders, but only one file at a time.  Ugh.  I saw an entry that said you could upload a .zip file.  Does it just store the .zip file or can I unzip it and have all of my folders/files.
    Thank you in advance,
    Paulette

    Ken,
Thank you for the information.  Unfortunately, this approach doesn’t meet my needs.  I am trying to upload files related to multiple websites that I have created as part of a Web Design certification program.  These files are related to multiple classes, multiple lessons, multiple websites, each with its own css, image, and js folders and the related html files.  I use Dreamweaver as my editor so I had expected that the cloud space would mimic the hard drive space.  I also use Amazon Cloud for storing my business files so I had expected to have the same type of interface here.
So can you help me get rid of the trash folders/files I’ve created?  Can you delete a folder on the Cloud?  I could not find any way to delete the folders I had created, so I archived them hoping that I could get rid of them from there.  Now I don’t see any way of accessing the archived files.  I just started this Cloud account today so this may well be user error.  However, at the moment do not feel safe saving any files to it over concerns that I cannot manage the file structure.  I must be missing something.

  • Manual file transfer of podcast files unavailable?

Is it me, or is it impossible to manually add podcast files on to my iPhone. Not only on podcasts, but on other music on my little Nano, I have been able to drag and drop files, and now I can only use sync mode?? Am I missing something?

You may want to use something like the XMODEM protocol.
I believe you can find a version of XMODEM that can be used with an NI-VISA session located here on the OpenG forums.

  • Data loss in the secure file transfer using java

    Hi,
My java Appllication uses the sftp(secure file transfer protocol) for file transferring. when the load is high like 150 GB , data loss occuring for some files especially last chunk of data is missing.
    Core file transfer code
    while (true)
int read = bis.read(buffer); //Reading bytes into the byte array (buffer) from network stream (bis).
    if (read==-1) {
break; //Break the loop, if there are no more bytes available in the InputStream.
bos.write(buffer,0,read); //Writing the same number of bytes what we read into buffer byte array into OutputStream
complete.update(buffer,0,read); //Giving the same number of bytes what we read above to the checksum calculation.
bytesSoFar += read; //Incrementing the bytes that we have read from the source.
//if the bytes transferred are equal to the source file size
    If (bytesSoFar == fileInfo.getFileSize().intValue())
    // Calculate the file checksum.
// Update DbAuditLog with checksum and no. of bytes read
    else
// Update DbAuditLog with no. of bytes read
    bos.flush();
Please help , why the data loss is happening when the big size files transfer
    Note:
1.150 gb not a single file multiple files.
2.SFTP no java specific API, So connection is happening through java .io.sockect connection

so, if you are not getting any exceptions, yet the data is incorrect, it sounds like you are having actual network issues. i'd start looking at things like the actual network cards in the computer as well other equipment involved in the transfer. since you are not getting exceptions, the network stack obviously thinks nothing was lost over the wire, so either the actual hardware has issues, or the network stack, or the issue is on the sending end. the last possibility is that the client is somehow munging the data it is sending. do you control the client code? if so, i'd start checking the client side code for bugs (and/or post it here).
also, i'm assuming that all of the variables included in your original code are thread local (you aren't sharing any of those buffers/streams/etc between multiple threads).

  • Please rank in terms of file transfer speed between FW800 external HDs

    Hello,
I have two triple interface (FW400/FW800/USB2) 1000GB external hard drives. My 17inch Macbook Pro has 1xFW800 and 1xFW400. Please rank the following in terms of speed of transferring files directly between the external hard discs:
    1. Connect one to FW400 and one to FW800.
    2. Daisy chain FW800.
    3. Buy a 2 slot FW800 express card and connect both via this card.
    4. Buy a 2 slot FW800 express card and connect one drive to this card and the other to the inbuilt FW800 port on the Macbook Pro.
Thank you very much for your replies,
    Ben

For things like file transfer with large files, the internal drive will be noticeably faster, because it is a single continuous action.
For booting and running a computer, there are many things happening at once, and disk access speed is only a small part of the overall process. Other factors related to the current status of the drives, such as amount of free space and fragmentation of system-related files will have an effect as well. If you perform a brand new system installation on a newly erased external drive, the system's files will be optimally placed with plenty of free space. Compare that to your internal drive, with the existing system's files somewhat more scattered over the drive (happens over time) and less contiguous free space (happens with ongoing adding and deleting of files)... The external drive may actually run faster.
I have Mac OS X systems on external FireWire (400) and USB 2.0 drives. The internal drive feels a bit faster, but it is not something that is too noticeable. The ideal setup to optimize disk access speed is a limited size internal drive volume (it can be a partition) with the OS and apps installed. This volume should be devoted mostly to the OS and apps and have a decent amount of free space. If the drive is partitioned, use the first partition. Your personal data is then stored mostly on your the other partition (if the internal drive is partitioned) or an external drive. This keeps the OS and application files confined in one fast portion of the drive, and reduces ongoing fragmentation of files and free space, because OS and app files do not change very often, compared to user data files.
However, for most users, the benefit gained is not enough to justify the added effort and complexity. One drive with everything bunched together is simple and easy, and works fine.

  • File transfer problem from iTunes to BlueFire Reader

With my iPad 2 attached to my Mac computer, I added an ebook (purchased from and downloaded to iTunes) to the file transfer list of files for use with my BlueFire Reader.
The ebook concerned was transferred to my BlueFire app on the iPad.
However, there is no cover and, when I open the book in BlueFire Reader, there is no text on any page. What am I doing wrong and can I fix this problem?
    Thank you.

    Thank you.
I have iBooks installed but find with my poor eyesight that BlueFire Reader is easier to see.
Hence my desire to transfer the ebook from iTunes or iBooks to BlueFire.

  • Does Azure Media services support storing images?

    Hi,
We are planning to store the media files in azure cloud, initially we planned to use the Azure blob storage and after deeply investigating we found the Azure media services has some outstanding capabilities  like streaming offline viewing etc. compared
    to azure blob storage.
So here my question, does this supports storing the images as well? Please confirm this ASAP.
I read the some article about media services, there it has been given like below, but Just i want to confirmation about this.
Supported file types in Azure Media Services
Various video, audio, and image file types can be uploaded to a Media Services account, with there being no restriction on the types or formats of files that you can upload using the Media Services SDK. However, the Azure Management portal restricts uploads
to the formats that are supported by the Azure Media Encoder. These import formats include MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and Windows Media Video encoded video, MP3, WAVE, and Windows Media Audio encoded audio, and BMP, JPEG, and PNG encoded images. The Azure Media
Encoder can export data as Windows Media Video, Windows Media Audio, MP4, and Smooth Streaming File Format.
For more information about the supported file formats see "Supported input formats" and "Introduction to encoding."
    Thanks,
    Kiran

    Hi John,
    One more Question here.
As of now we are planning to store and retrieve only the images and audio files with media services, so can I avoid encoding and packaging and use it?Will it work?
Can I access the  images and audio files without encoding and packaging?
In future, we are are planning to add the videos as well.
I think encoding and packaging will come into picture when streaming the videos.
    Thanks,
    Kiran

  • FILE TRANSFER RATE SLOW FROM WIN SERVER 2012.

The File Transfer problem From my Windows Server 2012R2 (File server) showing 200KB transer rate in 1g network. Please help

    Hi,
What's the operation system are you using, Windows XP/2003 or Windows 7/8/2008/2012?
You can test to disable SMB2/3 and see if issue is related:
    Set-SmbServerConfiguration -EnableSMB2Protocol $false
    See:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2696547/en-us
Note: This is just for testing and you can enable it after testing.
If it is SMB related, try to disable the TCP Chimney Offload, Receive Side Scaling and Network Direct Memory Access features.
Information about the TCP Chimney Offload, Receive Side Scaling, and Network Direct Memory Access features in Windows Server 2008
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951037
Here are the steps to disable RSS, TCP Chimney Offload and NetDMA:
netsh int tcp set global rss=disabled
netsh int tcp set global chimney=disabled
In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters, double-click the EnableTCPA registry entry.
Note: If this registry entry does not exist, right-click Parameters, point to New, click DWORD Value, type EnableTCPA, and then press ENTER.

  • MBP (mid-2009) freezing, slow installations and file transfer

I bought the latest MacBook Pro model and installed Snow Leopard on a cleanly formatted hard drive. I have tried migrating via ethernet and FireWire from my iMac, but the migrations failed either due to freezing (via FireWire after roughly 24 hours of file transfer) or by an error message (ethernet with Migration Assistant).
Only through a Time Machine backup was I able to transfer my account files to the MBP, which again totaled at over 20 hours of transferring. The system was a mess, clogged constantly by freezing and spinning beach balls of death for durations lasting around 10-20 seconds during which music would clip after 5-10 seconds of everything not responding, this being accentuated especially during installations. I decided to format and try anew.
Now I've formatted the hard drive, installed Snow Leopard and will transfer my files manually onto a clean account. Installations take a long time although SL installation is within 30 minutes, iLife took 1.5 hours to install 5 GB. During the installation Safari stopped responding, as did the entire system, and the spinning beach ball would keep spinning. Watching a 480p trailer in Quicktime made the entire computer freeze up (no video/audio) for 10 seconds halfway. Transferring 136 GB (my Music folder) will take around 15 hours according to the estimate after 10 minutes of transferring.
I've sold my iMac now and all I have are the files on my external hard drive. I want to get them onto my MBP ASAP but the slowness is preventing me from doing what needs to be done and it's very frustrating. When I try to boot into Hardware Testing by holding D down the computer doesn't do it no matter what (Application DVD in or not, plugged into power or not). I've tried resetting PRAM but I get the same inaction.
    Any ideas?
Edit: I've done Disk Utility to no avail, it finds nothing wrong.

Installed, still getting freezes with spinning beach balls. Transfer says it would take 1 hour opposed to that 15 hours, but it stops transferring after X amount of gigabytes (from 0.5 to 5), not do anything for a while and then continue, stretching the estimate to over 2 hours after some time. I don't know if this is just with the hard drive.
The freeze-ups are frustrating as **** and make for a very poor experience. Any ideas to get to the bottom of this? I still haven't been able to boot into the Hardware Test no matter how much I try.

  • What are the performance implications moving apps using cloud drive to Azure File Services?

I run a number of cloud services with 5 or more nodes in using cloud drives. Cloud drive is scheduled to be deprecated in 2015. So I am thinking of replacing the cloud drive with Azure Files service.
For each cloud service I am using one storage account to create all the the VHD/cloud drives. Some people at the time when cloud drive first appeared, told me that to get better performance, I should create only one VHD/Cloud Drive
under only one storage account. For example, if I have five instances under a worker role then I should create 5 storage accounts and create one VHD/Cloud Drive under each storage account to be used by each node. I didn't follow that route because I was satisfied
with the performance of the apps under cloud services having all VHD/Cloud Drives under one storage account.
My question is, if I replace cloud drive with Azure file services, will my apps perform well having all shares under one storage account or create one storage account for each share?
    Thanks,
    @nazik_huq

    Thanks Obama for replying.
Here is the comment from @jaiharidas of MSFT if anyone's interested:
@Naziq, It is better to have multiple shares under single storage account and there is no perf implications. However, please ensure that your ingress/egress and request/sec is within
the limits of a single storage account (seemsdn.microsoft.com/.../dn249410.aspx)
and use multiple storage accounts if you need to scale beyond the limits.
See the original comment  on Azure Storage Team here: http://ow.ly/ChPNf
