Slow to Receive Email

I'm using Frontier to get email on my iPhone. Up until a couple of days ago, I could receive email within a minute on WiFi, within five minutes on Edge. A couple of days ago, I stopped trying to get my email on my iPhone because it was so slow (more than five hours on WiFi) to receive email and started getting my email on my home computer. It's only my email that's excruciatingly slow on my iPhone, and it's only receiving email that's slow on my iPhone (sending and reading email are normal). At first, I though it was my school WiFi network, but I have the same problem with my home WiFi network. What do you suggest I do to solve this problem?

It fixed itself somehow.

  • 3G phone slow to receive email

I'm running 4.2.1 on a 3G on AT&T.  All email accounts set to PUSH.
My me.com email comes through instantly, moments after it has been sent.
My other accounts (which are configured the same, as closely as possible to me.com), however, can take sometimes up to 20 minutes to "push" an email through.  If I manually check for email, the emails will come through.
Is there a reason me.com email actually pushes, as advertised, but the other accounts do not?

    It fixed itself somehow.

  • Slowness in moving, sending, typing & receiving emails

    Hi,
Been using Thunderbird for over a year having migrated from Eudora. Recently, I have had recurrent and intermittent slowness in typing email content, sending, receiving as well as moving emails to other folders and opening and closing of Thurderbird. I compact my mailboxes regularly and do not store emails in the local folders--at least I don't think I am. I have a folder set up to store all sent emails and those emails I keep have their own folder depending on the nature of the email. Not sure if this is the traditional Archived process. There are thousands of emails stored but there were thousands when I first started using Thunderbird and this slowness was never an issue. I use Avira for antivirus and but have never used the email protection, so it is disabled.
Tonight I decided to run Thunderbird in TB Safe Mode and it worked perfectly. Is it safe to conclude that I either have malware or an add on interfering? I use anti spyware software routinely to clean the computer and have not noticed a resolution to the slowness issue. What is the exact process to determine if this could be caused by an add on? Thank you so much, in advance. Greg

    Use the JavaMail API.
Write a bean helper class that will send a mail message. Test that and get it running.
Then you write a JSP for the user to enter data in.
Then write a servlet that takes data from the JSP, and then calls your bean helper class, which uses JavaMail API.

  • Paypal payment received notifcation emails either slow to receive or dont arrive

payment received notifcation emails for sales from ebay are either slow to receive (days sometimes)  or dont ever arrive i sell high volume (500 orders a day) its not practicle to log in to paypal to see if ive received payment  - im dependant totally  on the email to say they've paid this is a major problem for me the ones that dont ever arrive i notice are from NEW ebay users, feeback less than 5 - ive also noticed they have after their user name various text strings - such as (example)  rozenlla-eytpu6hmh  - they all have a name then a load of random letters/numbers, on these i never ever get the paypal email - im guess ing they are guest buyers  - but wheres the email from paypal ? not good enough paypal - if i **bleep** up an order,  ebay and paypal have zero tollerance with me - HELP

This was not the case in my situation (and it doesn't sound like the situation in the OP's case either). In my case, there was a "large" message that wasn't being downloaded, and it was preventing all emails that came in after that one from being downloaded as well.
I have since replicated this problem four times. A "large" message (seems to be >400k, though I've not done a size test) will prevent all other messages from being downloaded. If I log in via webmail and delete the large message, all other emails are downloaded properly.
I do not have anything in the "Prompt me to skip messages over __ KB" settings, and changing that does nothing.
The solution is to delete the email, but that's obviously a suboptimal solution.
Interestingly, my other computer (MacBook) has no problem downloading the "large" messages, or any other email.
I have reconstructed my mailboxes, deleted preference files, re-created accounts, and involved my university's tech support, and they can replicate the problem but can't explain it.

  • My Mac is not receiving emails, but my iPhone receives emails. How can I fix this?

I have a MacBook Pro Retina with OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. I recently tried to send a large file through the iCloud email drop. The email stayed in my outbox for a day and made my email app extremely slow. The email never sent, so I deleted the email from my outbox and restarted the program. Now, my email is no longer receiving any emails. The same email account on my iPhone receives emails, but my Mac email program will not receive emails. I've restarted the program and the Mac, but nothing has resolved the problem. Any suggestions???

  • Not receiving email from one domain

    Hi,
I am running Exchange 2003 on Windows Server 2003 SP2 and suddenly starting having the problem of not receiving mail from one domain.  All other domains seem to be fine, although seem slower to receive mail than normal.  The sender of the domain in question does not receive any NDR or bounce back error messages, so they are none the wiser the mail has come through.  I have checked the junk/spam, I don't have any filters which could be blocking the domain.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks

    Hi,
Please enable the protocol log on SMTP virtual server to check whether the remote domain has attempted to connect to your exchange server to send email to you.
If the remote domain has attempted to connect to your exchange server, please check whether the message is received by the SMTP server. If the message has been received, please use the message tracking log or queue viewer to check whether the message stuck on the server.
If the message is rejected, you can use protocol log to gather further information.
If the remote domain does not attempt to connect to your exchange server, I think you need to work with the remote domain admin regarding the issue as other domains are able to send email to you with no problem.

  • Troubleshooting slow response to email via vpn

I've just adopted a vpn 3000 concentrator, and am totally learing this, so my apologies.
What could be reasons within a VPN enviroment that people are having slow response to email. (excluding issues with servers)
From a network perspective I can trouble shoot slow response, but how would a vpn enviroment be any more different to troubleshoot.
Naturally VPN is going to be much much slower, but taking 10 minutes for multiple users to get their email seems odd. LAN users get there email within seconds

    Hi:
I'll tell you, I used to have the exact same problem at my last company.
We had an Exchange server for email and everyone used Cisco's VPN client.
Email was so slow, it was ridiculous sometimes. Everything else was OK, though. Other applications were OK, and network management was also good. It was just Exchange.
I know that Exchange is notorious for being delay intolerant, but this was bad! and it seemed to get worse with time.
Anyway, I dont know if you have done any troubleshooting yet or not, but you would definitely want to focus on the MTU settings for the VPN connection. Remember that IPSec adds overhead that may cause the ethernet frame to exceed the network's allowable MTU, so the packets get fragmented and reassembled at the receiving end. This can be a very slow process. And some applications are not very tolerant of fragmentation, like SQL and, I think, Exchange, too.
The problem with client VPN is that you would have to adjust each user's PC MTU. With site-to-site VPN, you can, of course, set the maximum segment size of the entire tunnel, so all users sitting behind the tunnel will be forced to conform to the tunnel's stips.
But you can try doing that on a few PCs to see if anything changes. I changed the PCs MTU using freeware called DR. TCP/IP. You can download it for free and it will allow you to change the PCs MTU very easily -- just a few keystrokes, instead of having to go into the registry and get stupid with Windows.
Change the output segment size for the PC to, say, 1400, and see if that improves anything. You would also want to change it on the 3000. I forgot how to do it on the 3000.

  • One Yahoo! mail account does not receive email sent from .mac

OK, this is an odd problem, and any help would be appreciated.
My girlfriend's Yahoo! mail account does not receive email sent from my .mac address. If I send email from my Gmail or Yahoo! accounts she receives the message. No one else has informed me that they haven't received email from the .mac address. Additionally, the .mac account is in her address book.
Anyway, has anyone seen a similar pattern with Yahoo! or any other email provider?
    Thanks.
    - Jennings

Thanks for the reply . . . and yes, the recipient's email provider likely holds the answer.
However, I was hoping someone here might have had a similar experience and could answer as the email provider is Yahoo, and they are slow in responding to help requests . . . for a period I hosted a personal, paid website through Yahoo Domains and help tickets lingered for several days on multiple occasions (this being the reason the site is no longer hosted by Yahoo). I also doubt Yahoo will expend too much energy resolving a problem for a free email account.
Anyway, I posted in the Yahoo mail forums, and hopefully something will come-up . . . .

  • Cant receive email since Inbox was overloaded with 100's of emails

A few days ago I received over a 100 spam emails onto my ipad 2 (my website had been hacked by a computer and was generated spam emails, we've since stopped it) and the ipad couldnt download them all at once, they were coming in so fast locking up the screen---the ipad could not think fast enough and deleting them one by one became very slow. Thinking my ipad memory was overloaded with emails, I deleted all these bogus smam emails from the inbox then also deleted the trash can. i owned the ipad since almost a year and have never deleted the trash can, I never thought to do it.
Since then my ipad is not fetching the emails that are going onto my PC.
PC--Outlook 2003 is receiving emails off the server even when I have the program closed. I took the habit of closing it down each time I walk away from it so that I can get my emails onto my ipad in the rest of the house. But since a few days even when I close outlook, the emails are downloading becuase I can hear the ping sound for incoming mail, from elsewhere in the house. I cant figure out why, when I close down outlook, it is still functioning.
I powered down my ipad, that didnt work.
Is it my ipad or is it my PC that is interfering with the emails downloading onto my ipad?
Should I reset my email account on my ipad?
Should I reset my settings and how do I do that as there are about 7 reset choices?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
my ipad 2 is less than a year old. I do not know what operating system it has.

    Hi,
Reset was done already. I narrowed it down to my PC MS outlook program. When I shut down my PC the outlook program turned off, enabling new incoming emails to come to my iPad. Thanks Problem solved.

  • Updated to Mountain Lion, not I only receive emails sporadically. Thoughts?

Updated to Mountain Lion, not I only receive emails sporadically. Thoughts?

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Outlook - Receiving Email Problem

    1. Receiving emails very slow in Outlook.  It is much slower than receiving it on my mobile phone.
    2. Also keep receiving the following error message.  The name/account mentioned in this error message is no longer in use.
"Task "Vickie Wong Arrowcap - Receiving' reported error (0x80CCC92): 'Your e-mail server rejected y our login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded: -ERR authorization failed Check your sever
    settings.' "
    Thanks

    Hi Yu888,
    Solution:
    1.)
Check plug-ins (third party) in your Outlook via using safe mode.
Note: Use, the “outlook.exe /safe” command in search box.
And see the result, it will hopefully boost the sending/receiving speed of emails.
2.) 0x80CCC92 error in MS-Outlook commonly can cause due to number of reasons such as:
*Wrong inputs of server details for Outlook (especially POP3)
*Improper synchronization between Outlook and Server
    *Corruption in PST File
To fix Outlook error 0x80CCC92, once check the inputs of server details and if you find it correct then apply scanpst.exe to know the exact reason behind this error.
You can also try the free Outlook PST Recovery Software, If you do not find any relevant solution for this error from the above given manual methods.

  • I cannot receive email properly now. When I open mail, it says that is downloading about 1,700 emails. At the very end, it gives me my newest ones. But this takes a long time. I've contacted the Internet service provider and verified all the right setting

I cannot receive email properly on either my IPad or my IPhone. I have had them for over a year and they have always worked fine. Until three days ago, when they both started acting up. On the IPad, when I open mail, it says it is downloading about 1,700 emails. At the very end, which takes quite a while to get to, I finally get the most recent ones. The IPad is sending emails just fine.
On my IPhone, when I open mail, it says it is downloading 100 emails, but it doesn't do that. And it gives me no new emails at all. The IPhone is sending email just fine.
I have already deleted the email accounts on both devices and reinstalled them. I've contacted the Internet service provider and verified all the right settings. The Outlook email on my desktop is working perfectly.

WMV is a heavily-compressed format/CODEC, and the processing time will depend on several factors:
Your CPU, which is not that powerful in your case
Your I/O sub-system, which is likely a single HDD on your laptop
The source footage. What is your source footage?
Any Effects added to that footage. Do you have any Effects?
Each of those will have an impact on the time required.
The trial has only one main limitation - the watermark. Now, there are some components, that have to be activated, but are not with the trial, but they would be evident with Import of your source footage, if it's an issue.

  • Can no longer send or receive email from any account after Security Update

    Hello,
I have a problem with my email in Mail. I let software update install the latest security update (007) a few days ago. I have not been able to send or receive my email since the update. I have several accounts and use Mail as my client for all. This includes my mac.com account, 3 att.net accounts and my website email. All give me the same error which is an SSL thing and has something to do with the certificates. I am able to receive email if I turn SSL off on the ATT accounts but not the mac.com (and if I try to collect my email with SSL off I get an angry message from ATT warning me I am not allowed to do so) and I cannot send any at all from any account.
The error message reads "unable to connect- there may be a problem with the mail server or network.... The server error encountered was: Mail was unable to verify the identity of this server, which has a certificated issued to "mail.mac.com". The error was: An SSL error occured while trying to read data from the server. Verify this server supports SSL and that your account settings are correct". It then states that the certificate could not be verified.
The certificate date on the mac.com account reads May, 29th , 2010.
I also have an iMac and a MacBook Pro which are also running Tiger. I have not and will not run the security update on these machines until I find out why it has messed up my email on the G5. I can still send and receive email with the exact same account settings on the MacBook so I know it is not the settings but something to do with the Security Update.
Has anyone else had trouble with this update? Any advice?

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
I don't know if this is a corrupted preference file or not, but it sure can't hurt to try this.
If Mail is open, Quit Mail.
    /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Drag that .plist file to the Desktop. Launch Mail and see if you can send or receive e-mail. If you can, that .plist file is corrupted. Drag it to the trash, empty the trash and reboot. Your Mac will create a new preference file for you the next time you launch Mail.
Also... run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions. Disk Utility is in your Applications/Utilities folder. Launch DU, select MacintoshHD 10.x.x in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab, click Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot.
