Slowly apply updated bundle

Is there a way/best practice/etc to slowly roll out updates to a bundle?
I know I can set some devices as test devices and use the sandbox to perfect my bundle, but is there a way to slowly roll out the updated bundle to all devices?
Since ZCM keeps versions of bundles around, is there any way to specify what version of the bundle a particular group gets? Perhaps this is not possible, and our method of slowly rolling out a change to various locations is not ideal for the way ZCM is designed to work.

Updating a Bundle for only some devices is an interesting idea, it is
not possible.
Generally most devices will not run the updated new bundle until it is
pushed via some type of "Distribution/Install" action is scheduled. One
can configure only certain locations to get the push. However, some
users at other locations would still be able to manually update.
You could also do a "Copy" bundle and then associate the new bundle to
some devices.

  • Problem when apply SAP Bundle Patch for 10.2.0.5

    Hi,
We are trying to apply SAP Bundle Patch (SBP) SAP_102052_201102_SOL64.zip and SAP_102052_201103_SOL64.zip using MOPatch utility. Both MOPatch and OPatch utility have been updated with the latest download from SAP. When applying patch for SAP_102052_201102, most patches went through except for one patch that requires OPatch to be version 10.2.0.5.0. The OPatch version downloaded from SAP is 10.2.0.4.9. Even the OPatch delievered together in the SAP_102052_201102_SOL64.zip file is 10.2.0.4.9.

    Hi,
    I went to
    http://service.sap.com/oracle-download
    then
    Oracle 10.2.0.5
    then
    OPatch
The file I can see there is generic for ALL operating systems and the name is:
    OPatch_10205_Generic_v0.zip
it seems that the version is 10.2.0.5, not  10.2.0.4.9 as you mentioned.
I have downladed it and look at the README:
    Patch summary:
README file for OPatch 10.2.0.5.0, the Oracle Interim Patching Tool.
I'm not installing it, but it seems that the version is not the same as yours.
Is this the one you have downloaded?
Have you installed it properly? => may be you are running an older one

  • Apply Oracle bundles manually

I am at a new PS installation using Fin/SCM 9.1 and Tools 8.53.04.The DBA's here use Change Assistant but I would like to start applying bundles manually. I have the correct project and all support files. The is a document on 'Manual Instructions', however it is very brief and only covers some security setup. What I need is:
    1. The order of running dms scripts
    2. The order and settings of creating tables, altering tables, creating views, etc
I would like to know the setting in App Designer "recreate table if at already exists', 'skip table if it already exists', etc and all of the settings
you need to know in app designer.
A project will usually have things like pre-build and post-build datamover scripts and what order to run them.
When I download bundles from Oracle none of this detail is present
Does anyone know whee this detail can be found in order to apply manually and not use Change Assistant?
    Thank you

Have you read Applying Updates To A Target Environment yet?  It's been a while and also this is where some strategies differ.  There was just a post where someone asked the same thing, the suggestion was made to just manually copy the project, probably for comfort level.  If I remember this copy with compare template has a lot of automatic stops where you need to manually start it up and you can change any step to do that.  So you can just make sure it stops ahead of time and review the project so that things are flagged appropriately.  Change Assistant just runs Application Designer from the command line without a GUI so it behaves the same.  You can probably even look at the Copy step to see what options it will use.
Examine the compare report step (a manual step).
You must examine the compare reports generated to determine the appropriate action (for example, whether or not to copy the object from the source database to the target database)
Copy project from the source database.
Change Assistant copies the objects from the source database to the target database, based on the actions chosen.
I've been at a few places that used STAT for code repo and migrations.  At several of them the development teams specifically wanted an update applied without compare to every target.  They would take all new code and would build a new retro fit project and migrate it up through STAT after the Admins had come through and applied the Bundle.
Since you're the DBA I guess it should be pretty easy for you to take a backup just in case . Since it's your first time, just take it slow and review all those steps before hand.  As long as you have backups that you can restore, the worst there should be would be some delays if things go wrong.

  • CS4 Master Collection - Problem Applying Updates

    Hi
I'm running the CS4 Master Collection on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit, SP2.
Normally I have no problem applying updates to the various Adobe components when they become available, however for a while now I've been unable to instal an update that's reported as being available for Adobe Media Encoder 4.1.0.
If I run the "check for updates" manually I can download the update (reported as being 63.7MB) and when I attempt to instal it the installation process appears to run. It finishes after a while and the Adobe Updater reports "The Udating Process is Finished" in a single dialog box with a single button entitled "Quit" - which seems odd as "Quit" implies "finish earlier than planned", I'd have expected something more in line with "All done", something like "OK".
Anyway, when I run the check for updates again I'm told about the same update implying that it wasn't applied successfully.
I get this behaviour whether I run the update as an Administrator or not (all other updates for other products are applied without problem). I also get it regardless of whether or not I reboot the machine after trying to apply the update.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing the problem ? I couldn't find anything obvious or obviously relevant in any of the Windows event logs on the PC.
    Thanks for any ideas
    Steve

I am having the same problem. I found a forum that suggested this. Apparently it worked for some people, but not for me. Let me know if it does:
    1. Start -> All Programs -> Accessories
    2. Right-click on Command Prompt and select "Run as..."
    3. Run as Administrator (even if you are logged in as Admin. You need to run in the Black Command Prompt, not the White one)
    4. Run: regsvr32 JScript.DLL
    5. Then run: regsvr32 vbscript.DLL
(dont forget the spaces, or it won't work)
    6. Then try running the set up again
As i said, it worked for some on the forum, but not others (like me). Try it and see if works for you

  • I have three user accounts on one computer. On only one account when I when I check Help - About fire fox only one user account says apply update and won't apply. The other two work fine.

One of three user accounts on the same computer appears to not be updating to 8.0.1 correctly. One admin and one none admin user account says it is up-to-date. The other non-admin user account, under Help About Firefox says apply update, but won't.

As long as you installed MS Office into its default location (the top level /Applications folder) it will be available to all user accounts on the Mac.
As far as licensing is concerned you only have to enter the license code once, which you should do right after installing MS Office, in the same admin account you installed it from, by opening any one of the MS Office applications.  There is no additional licensing required for additional user accounts on the same Mac.
Each user account is able to run the Office apps.  The only thing you will have to do is go through an initial setup screen in each user account (but this setup does NOT involve entering any additional license codes).
You may have problems if you installed MS Office in a particular user account (i.e. NOT in the top level /Applications folder).

  • Keeps coming up that I need to update the FF 4.0 but when I click the update button & then the apply update button after the download it doesn't apply & just come back up to update firefox

I have FireFox 4.0 it comes up and says that it needs to be updated, when I click the (NEXT) button & it does the contacting server/downloading the update. I click the apply update button & the fire fox window closes & the status bar come up with the installing the updates & will restart firefox in a moment. However once the window restarts, the notice that firefox needs to be updated come back. When I click the (next) button to download the update, the cycle begins.
I clicked the HELP link at the top of the window & then the ABOUT FIREFOX to see if there might be multiple updates, but it's the same one each time "modzilla firefox yahoo edition yahoo 1.8"
I love fire fox & until now have never had a problem when it comes to installing the updates.

Well I went to the Tools/options/and general section & clicked on the restore default for the home page. However I am still having the same issue.

  • I am unable to apply updates

    Hello, Jeff.
I have the most up-to-date version and am NOT using a proxy, yet I run into this same issue.  I'm able to apply updates and otherwise interact with my installed apps but they are unable to connect and verify my subscription which of course just rubs salt in the wound as I would MUCH rather be using a standalone application rather than this buggy cloud version.
Please advise how I can address this issue.
Thank you for you kind attention.

Branching this to a new discussion as the previous discussion was regarding proxy configuration.
Shercohelp can you please provide more details including any relevant error messages you are receiving when you attempt to download and install the software?  Also which operating system do you have installed?

  • Windows7 hanging when shutting down applying updates

Whenever I shut down or reboot Windows7 I get a message that Windows is applying update 9 of 13, but the "update" never gets "applied" and Windows7 just hangs supposedly trying to apply it. Yet when I subsequently boot into Windows7
and look a Windows Update there are no important updates available, much less being applied.
Something is messed up. How do I fix this problem so that Windows7 does not attempt to apply a mythical 9 of 13 update, which does not exist, when I shut down, and hang my Windows& shutdown or reboot

Download appropriate system readiness tool and run it
    http://support.microsoft.com/kB/947821
If the updates that are failing to install are dot net based then you may need to run dot net repair tool.
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=30135
Note this is not recommended but is an option:
If you are having problem with single update for example you may right click (in windows updates screen) on it and chose to hide it.
This way at least you will allow other updates to install properly.

  • Yosemite hangs in booting after applying Update 2015-003.

I have applied Update 2015-003 to Yosemite.
After booting the progress bar hangs at about 30% for over an hour.
The hardware is a MacBook Pro with a SSD harddrive.

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
To restart an unresponsive computer, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the power shuts off, then release, wait a few more seconds, and press it again briefly.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.” The article refers to starting up from a DVD, but the procedure in Recovery mode is the same. You don't need a DVD if you're running OS X 10.7 or later.
    b. If Step 1a fails because of disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to salvage some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external drive with OS X installed, start up from it. Otherwise, if you have Internet access, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external drive and install OS X on it. You'll use the Recovery installer, rather than downloading it from the App Store.
    c. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. You might be able to start up in safe mode even though you can't start up normally. Otherwise, start up from an external drive, or else use the technique in Step 1b, 1c, or 1d to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
    Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 4
If a desktop Mac hangs at a plain gray screen with a movable cursor, the keyboard may not be recognized. Press and hold the button on the side of an Apple wireless keyboard to make it discoverable. If need be, replace or recharge the batteries. If you're using a USB keyboard connected to a hub, connect it to a built-in port.
    Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
    Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 11. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
    Step 9
If the startup device is an aftermarket SSD, it may need a firmware update and/or a forced "garbage collection." Instructions for doing this with a Crucial-branded SSD were posted here. Some of those instructions may apply to other brands of SSD, but you should check with the vendor's tech support.
    Step 10
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 11
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 12
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 13
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

    Hi there!
Yes, same problem too; I've already sent an email to apple support and just received a very vague and unpractical response with "call apple support in your country" as main advice. I've obviously emailed back stating that I need a clearer response and I don not have any intention to spend money calling for support when updates is a free tool. I do also believe this is a probem generated on Apple's end, I just wish they learned to say "sorry, it's us;  working on it!"

I have downloaded and installed Oracle Content Server 10g r3 , and i did a simple cycle for a work-flow , and after that i downloaded "Oracle Universal Content Management 10g Patch Update Bundle", but when i opened the file i found that it contains many folder and some without a setup files , so how can i install the patch update bundle file ?
    Thanks

Although what Srinath is true and correct, it is advised that you always install all the enabled components. The only situations where this is not the case is where:
    1. You have a newer component than is in the bundle (i.e. you recently had a patch for that component which is newer than the bundle).
    2. You have customised the component in question for your own use - in which case a newer version would overwrite your customisations.
Otherwise, you should install all the enabled components if possible.
