SmartView 11.1.2.1.102 corrupts Office 2010.

Hi
We have applied patch set 11.1.2.1.102 recently and installed SmartView Client 11.1.2.1.102 but it is corrupting office 2010 when ever open a excel new page.
It seems it is OK with 2003 and 2007. I use 2007 and it works perfectly fine but my business users use office 2010, it is causing lot of issues for them.
I didn't see any documents which talks about whether office 2010 is supportable version or not.

So when you install it as administrator does it work fine? Just to narrow down the issue.
Also when you say excel gets corrupted,what exactly happen? Like does it crash or give you some errors etc? Some programs like proc mon or file mon should be able to provide you some details.
If all these does not work ,then I would recommend opening a SR with Oracle support.

Smartview Issue with MS Office 2010 on windows 7

Hi,
I have installed Hyperion Smartview 11.1.1.1 on windows 7(64 bit AMD Processor), After the installation i tried to go with Datasource manager but nothing it shows there in Right side panel("smartview data source manager").
Each option is in Disable mode(like Adhoc Analysis- Zoom In, Zoom out, Keep Only, Remove Only, Forms)
Also i am unable to find the EAS console( but instalation wizard shows it has been installed)
Version we are using -Hyperion Smartview 11.1.1.1
Ms Office- 2010(32 bit)
Platform- Windows 7 64bit( AMD Processor)

You should always use official documentation for support details but I am pretty sure Windows 7 support was not available for the EAS client until 11.1.1.3.

Smartview 11.1.2.1 and Office 2010 on Citrix error closing word 2010

I have installed Hyperion Smartview 11.1.2.1.0 on a Windows 2008 R2 terminal server (with citrix xenapp 6) with Office 2010 (32 bits).
when i launch Microsoft word 2010 and close it i get the following error: Word cannot save this file because it is already open elsewhere (normal).
does anyone have an idea what this could be? when i disable the smartview add-in i dont get the error.
I use Roaming Profiles for the users.

Smart View and Citrix is a quirky combination. I've observed other strange behaviors in Smart View when using it on Citrix.

I installed 11.1.2.1 smartview on Win 7 and Office 2010 32 bit. The installation was successful but when I try to open Excel or Outlook I get the error that office encountered a serious problem with the add-in and disables the add-in to proceed. Any suggestions to make this work?

Yes in Window 7 and on Vista when installing you have to run as an administrator or disable UAC. Once installed you do not need to run as an administrator. Acrobat 9.5, file corruption when combining .pdfs created from Word or Excel (from Office 2010) into a larger .pdf document

In Acrobat 9, when I combine .pdfs created from Word or Excel (from Office 2010) into a larger .pdf document, there is data corruption. Some of the text appears as blank boxes when the pages are inserted into the larger .pdf, the main document. I have so far solved this by "printing" the files to .pdf, and then inserting them into the larger .pdf main document, but this creates a fatter .pdf file that is much larger than would otherwise be the case. Are there any other solutions within Acrobat 9, please? If this bug has been solved in Acrobat X or XI, please advise. Thanks.

As far as the images are concerned, that may be a result of your choice of job settings. You may want to use the Press or Print option if the image quality is important. I assume you are talking about bit images in this case.
As to the hangup, have you checked to see if AcroTray is active on your system? It may not be running as needed. In the meantime, try checking print to file and then opening that file in Distiller to complete the conversion to PDF.
Before you ever try a reinstall, you need to do a repair first to see if that resolves the problem. There are a lot of unknowns about your exact process for the printing and your job settings that may be part of the problem. The rest of your system setup is useful in some cases, but did not help me see your problem.

I am currently trying to install Office 2010 Pro Plus onto my machine that has Access 97 and Access 2003, Visio 2003, Excel 2003, PowerPoint 2003, and Word 2003 installed. I need to keep the previous versions of Office installed as they are used for development
work. When I try installing Office 2010 I've stopped with the following error message: "An Office installation on your computer is corrupted and setup cannot continue. Remove or repair the Office 2003 product and re-run setup." I can't remove and
repair doesn't seem to do anything. Most posts suggest removing previous office versions or deleting/altering the MS Office registry keys (which would damage the previous versions of Office). Is there a solution to install Office 2010 independently of any
other version of Office installed?

I figured out a method to finally install Office 2010 bypassing the error stated in the title, by manually removing all the keys that included the term "Office 2003" from the Windows registry.

Workbooks becoming corrupted using Windows 7, Office 2010, BEx 3.x, GUI 720

Hi Experts.
I have just been upgraded from XP to Windows 7 and from Office 2003 to Office 2010. I have installed SAP GUI 720 patch level 5 and I've patched the BEx 3.x portion as well since we are still on BEx 3.x queries and workbooks.
I can execute queries and workbooks with no problems. When I save a workbook, and then I try to reopen that workbook it's corrupt. Excel doesn't even recognize the file format. When I tell Excel to open it anyway, it's in machine language.
I ran the installation check for the Business Explorer and it found 54 RED errors. I uninstalled and reinstalled again, but still have gotten the 54 RED errors. Any ideas how to fix this?

Unfortunately Excel 2010 has a lot of bugs.
The SAP is working on these issues but, it seems the issue lies over a Microsoft DLL.
Per my experience, I recommend you to use Excel 2003 or Excel 2007. They are working fine with BEx Analyzer.

As per http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/hsys9_install_start_here_933.pdf, Office 2010 32 bit and Win 7 are supported for 9.3.3.
What is the error?

The short answer is no it's not supported -- I put in an enhancement request for this support probably 6 months ago.

Uli, you should probably post this thread in the SmartView forum where some of the Oracle SmartView development team read; the issue is a 64-bit add-in is a separate code-line from a 32-bit add-in; this means going forward when/if Oracle begins supporting 64-bit Office they will have a code base for 32-bit and one for 64-bit which is additional over-head across the board.

Corrupt Windows Office 2010

Not Office 2010. You can with Office 2011 for Mac. From Amazon or many other suppliers. The only way you'll get 2010 running on a Mac is if you have Windows running through Boot Camp or similar.

Office 2010 and Lync 2013 installed caused Powerpoint to become corrupted from internet sources

I'm finding that we're having problems with Office 2010 and Lync 2013.
Our environment is setup as follows:
Operating system: Windows 7 Enterprise
Office: Office 2010 (Word, Excel , Powerpoint, Access etc)
Office 2013 (Only Lync has been installed for 2013)
Problem: The issue is that when any Powerpoint documents come from internet sources (Such as Outlook or downloading directly from an internet browser), attachment manager deems the Powerpoint a security risk. When you open the Powerpoint it states that it's
corrupt and needs to be repaired, when you try repairing the powerpoint, it says it's not going to be possible.
The only workaround is right clicking the power point in explorer and clicking properties, there's then a security prompt at the bottom of the dialog box and an option to "Unblock".
The temporary fix: The fix is to remove Lync 2013 and the power point presentation open correctly from Internet sources.
Attempted:
I've attempted the following:
- Build a laptop with a plain version of Windows 7 enterprise
- Install Office 2010 Professional
- Test powerpoints from internet sources (Working)
- Install Lync 2013
- Test powerpoints from internet sources (Same error)
Any ideas?

Just to let you know that switching off protected view in Powerpoint for files originating from internet sources and Outlook attachments is a workaround for the issue.
I would be cautious about switching off Protected view though, here's a good article explaining the inner workings of Protected view:

Concerning this problem, I also noticed that after removing Office 2013 and starting Powerpoint, a MSIEXEC instance is started.
Presumably some DLLs are missing or some registry keys are missing when installed with Lync/Office 2013.
I also went to the trouble of snap shotting the registry and using Procmon to see what gets loaded and added when Powerpoint repairs itself on first start after removing Office 2013.
Unfortunately there are a number of things which change and couldn't be changed on the Office 2010 and Lync 2013 setup to fix the problem.
My advice would be the following:
- Update to Office 2013 fully
- Downgrade to Office 2010 Lync
- Switch off protected view

Office 2010 corrupted

1) 2010 became corrupted and now I can't uninstall it when 2013 has been installed. I do not have installation disks.
2) ICloud won't work with multiple copies of mail installed. See #1
3) 2013 PowerPoint 'not responding' most of the time when I'm trying to create a presentation with videos.

11.1.2.2.300 the latest release of Smart View does support Office 64 bit. You can download the latest version here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/smart-view-for-office/downloads/index.html or on My Oracle Support.
Remember SV is backwards compatible so the client version does not need to match the server version.

Office 2010 deployment - Bypass/Skip if Office 2013 present

We have predominantly Office 2007 installed thought out environment and I now have a working Office 2010 app deployment package. Now I am finding that we have a few systems that already have Office 2013 and I'd like to bypass any system that already has
2013 installed. Currently my 2010 package is installing side by side with 2013 and has resulted in Office being corrupted. I have not been able to find a way to detect Office 2013 and bypass/skip installation. Please help. Thank you in advance.

You could simply use a Collection query and exclude all devices from the Office 2013 collection that already has Office 2010 installed.. If you deploy it it devices and not users that is..
