SMS inbox full? But not really.

I suddenly got a message a few hours ago that said "Your SMS mailbox is full. New messages cannot be received until you delete some messages." I know my iPhone is nowhere near reaching it's storage capacity and I have had the same messages on there from my last iPhone for a couple years. So it seemed odd. But I deleted a bunch of messages and turned it on and off and I was still unable to receive text messages. I then deleted a bunch of entire conversations and turned it on and off and still couldn't receive texts. I then backed up my iPhone and reset it to factory settings. When I did that it, I received all of the text messages I had been sent in the past few hours. Then, I restored it to its previous backup and again, it said my SMS inbox was full, which makes no sense, since I'd already deleted hundreds. If anyone can help, PLEASE. Thanks.

i also got the error message "Your sms mailbox is full. New messages cannot be received until you delete some messages." and i have more then enough memory ...
i just called apple care and this is what they told me to do
go to  Settings -> General settings -> Reset -> Reset all settings
this WON'T erase any data!
Then after about 5 mins connect the phone to the computer with iTunes open and then the text messages should come thru
this worked for me!
hopefully it will work for you too

This is a user supported frum, so making threats really doesn't help, besides which it's not like any of us can really make a dent in Toshiba's bottom line despite how many people we think we can influence. Unless those people were standing in line to buy a Toshiba product cash in hand, and you pulled them out, it really doesn't add up for them.
At this point it would probably be better for you to use the 800 number. Have all your e-mails ready to forward, if needed, to whoever you end up talking to. Don;t let them off the hook. An hour on the phone is much better than weeks passing e-mails through a support site. Also contest the charge with your bank or credit card.

  • IOS5 SMS Inbox Full

My inbox was nowhere near full before the install of iOS5 and now it's telling me it is.  I've already deleted conversations that I didn't want to but thought that it'd help with receiving text messages and still no luck at all.  There are conversations I have that I believe I shouldn't have to delete at all, and there should be a fix for this.  It's ridiculous.  I'm so frustrated and upset because the new software is beautiful and is everything I've ever wanted in a software.  I wonder if there are any solutions out there that don't require you to downgrade or delete all your messages from your inbox...if anyone knows anything, please help!

I'm having the same issue as well. I have an iPhone 4 and recently upgraded to iOS5.
I have read on other forums that if you do a full restore (but not from a backup) and then re sync all your music and apps that it solves the problem. However, this does not restore the text message history.

In my own experience, if you restart your phone, you will get all of the SMS messages that you missed when the phone turns on. However, it only seems to work at every restart. So, I have to restart my phone every 30 minutes or so to keep myself updated on my SMS messages.
I am waiting for a patch I guess, to resolve this. This is the only way that I can see this isue being solved while maintaining my iPhone SMS data

  • SMS Inbox full, even after deleted tons of messages.

It says my SMS inbox is full even after I deleted TONS of conversations. What should I do!? I already did reset all settings.
    Help please! =(

for some reason it has to do with the iOS5 update that was released yesterday that I upgraded my 3gs phone on before buying a 4s today.  i've been frustrated with it but just figured it out or at least got mine to work.
i had spent a good bit of today deleting messages thinking that would do it.  i spoke to AT&T (clueless) where I got my new 4s phone today and did some research here on apple's website and was put on hold by an apple rep for an hour today.  from googling i found that your phone supposedly holds 75,000 messages but it must be less than that or have a different way of calculating it than you might think.  here's why.
you have more messages than you think.  a lot of my conversations went back to 2008.  there was one person in particular that i had exchanged a good number of messages with but i wanted to keep those so after deleting messages all day and getting nowhere i decided to figure out how to export SMS messages that i wanted to save.  there is an app called SMS Export and that did the trick.  I ran it and was suprised to see that after all of my deleting today i still had 61,000 messages.  so i exported this one person I had exchanged 20,000 messages with and deleted her messages from my phone leaving me with 41,000.  i restarted my phone and when it booted back up the new texts starting flowing through, 17 in all missed today.
    back in business!

Test it on another network--like at McDonals. If it works there, you got an issue on your home network--like a router setting.

  • IOS5 SMS inbox full error? Has anyone else gotten this? Can't receive texts but can send them out.

Upon restarting my phone I receive all the missed texts. However I still won't receive them again until I restart again. Here's the actual error message: http://i.imgur.com/VHG6w.jpg

i updated to ios5 about 3 hours ago and im facing the similar problem whereby they keep telling me that my 'sms mailbox is full.... etc' i called my carrier which is my service provider cus i thought it was an error on their side that i wasn't receiving any messages. then, they directed me to iphone department and there was a guy who taught me step by step on how and what i should do. so i followed and reset ALL my settings while connecting it trhough with the computer. i then restore from backup from itunes and the whole process took about 2 hours. after installing and backing up the necessary, i have ALL my data with me BUT the message thing is still not working. im still on ios5 after restoring though. im not sure if it's right. i only receive messages that i was suppose to receive hours ago- after i restore my whole phone. and after which, i tried to send out again- it was unsuccessful. oh no! is this some bug on ios5 or?? cus some of my frens don't experience the similar problem like me!!! pls help. thanks!

  • New messages in inbox, but not really

I recently reinstalled from my external drive after a crash and now have 5 "phantom" messages hanging out in my inbox.  This has happened to me once before, and it was an easy fix, but I can't remember what it was.  Can someone job my memory??

I have seen this happen if a user has a "filter" on the mailbox for some reason.
Also, perhaps check to see what the display options are for the mailbox. Is it
just "details"? Or perhaps something like "Checklist"?

  • Older Macbook connects to Time Capsule, but not really

Problem: My wife's Macbook (Intel Core Duo) is able to connect to my new Time Capsule, but it quickly loses its connection. It doesn't really disconnect though - it still says that it is connected with full reception, but there is no internet, or time machine, and I can't even ping the router.
The router logs show that she is still connected though, because they don't say "Disassociated with station" until she turns airport off.
There are definitely a lot of wireless networks around here, but I don't think interference is the issue, since many other computers are working fine. Her computer can connect to some of the other routers just fine. She could also connect to my old router just fine.

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
When that happens, if you open the Network panel of System Preferences, select the AirPort connection item on the left, click the "Advanced" button, then the "TCP/IP" tab, do you see reasonable values for the several fields?
It might help to reset the connection settings on your Mac using these steps one at a time until it works again:
    1) Use the AirPort menu bar item to turn AirPort off, then on again.
    2) In the Network panel of System Preferences delete the AirPort item from the left column, then add it back.
    3) In the same panel as (2), define a new location and see if you can make that work.
    4) In the same panel, select the AirPort connection item, click the "Advanced" button, select the "TCP/IP" tab, then click "Renew DHCP Lease".
    5) In the folder /Library/Preferences ( not <yourhomefolder>/Library/Preferences), move the folder SystemConfiguration onto the Desktop, then restart your computer. See if you can now make your AirPort connection work.
They may not help, but they'll only take a couple of minutes to try. Before you try these, note all your network settings, because the latter steps will destroy them.

  • TMS lost HTTPS communciation to devices, but not really!!!

    Hey all,
    Another weird one.
    TMS - 14.3.2
    Monitoring multiple device via HTTPS.
I'm seeing some odd issues from TMS where it seems to think that it has lost HTTPS communication with multiple devices. We have many hundreds of devices that we monitor across multiple organisations in TMS (thankfully, we don't use it to schedule!) such as VCS-Es, VCS-Cs, MXP, C and SX series devices. Yesterday it appeared as though TMS wanted to stop monitor a LOT of these devices. Most of the VCS-Cs, MXP and other devices that seemed to all loose communication are in organisations outside of our main campus.
However, the odd thing is, that they haven't really! Its a "phantom" lost communication!
If you navigate to the connection tab in TMS and hit the "Save/Try" button (in fact you only need to navigate to this page, or the edit setting page, or force a refresh etc.), HTTPS communication is established immediately. In fact, we can also RDP into the TMS box and navigate to any and all devices from a browser with no issues using HTTPS. You can even have a browser session open to a device an have an auto refresh running (say on a camera/call page), with no problems. Further, if you navigate the the affected device (such as VCS Control) and look in the "System --> External Manger" menu, the device shows that our TMS management server is active on HTTPS. However, after a couple of minutes, TMS again thinks it has lost HTTPS connection!!
The really odd thing is that we haven't lost access to all devices. Those on campus are OK, as are the VCS-Es on the core, but a most of the devices in other organisations have got this "phantom" lost communication - weirdly not all of them though!!!
Recently, the backbone network provider installed some DDoS devices on the MPLS network that caused havoc with our neighbour zones, effectively killing our entire VC network. I'm wondering if these devices might also be responsible for these problems? So, I need to know what is different between the TMS HTTPS monitoring communication, and actually forcing a refresh of this connection or navigating to a HTTPS server on a device via a browser.
I have tried a packet capture on TMS, looking at device whose HTTPS response remain unaffected and a VCS Control that is affected, but it show no traffic on either, so I don't really know what I'm looking for (I was expecting a heartbeat or some-such).
Any suggestions, please let me know, before I go back to the core network provider....
    Cheers
    Chris

    Hey Wayne/Adam,
    Riddle me this....
Ok, in my situation all appears to be working again. How? Well, I don't really understand, but settle down and I'll tell you a story...
I ran some captures on TMS and on a couple of devices (one that was working and one that wasn't). I turned off things like provisioning just to eliminate as much traffic as possible between the devices and TMS. However, the captures showed nothing unusual between the either device and TMS. Of I could see traffic in both directions with no issue, but one devices still times out and ended with the "No HTTPS connection" error. Unusually I saw no heartbeat type traffic after a refresh - just nothing on both devices either to or from TMS.
We noted that the devices that were not timing out in TMS were also accessible from other machines in our campus. We ask our customers to tie down this management to the single IP address of TMS, but sometimes they allow our campus range. So we though, ah, firewall, yet TMS can still talk to these odd units, so again I didn't understand.
Anyhow, my colleague noted an error in the Windows Event log referring to DNS resolution (Event ID 1014 - which looked like a partial reverse lookup such as 100.100.in-addr.arpa for our class B campus network). However, the vast majority of our system we mange form TMS are through direct IP so I didn't think much of it. Anyhow, I though we would update the DNS settings on the TMS NIC to point to other DNS servers and an odd thing happened.
Firstly, TMS started to "see" the phantom devices. Secondly, the DNS settings didn't actually take. I definitely OK'ed the properties box on the NIC settings, but the 'ipconifg' details and 'nslookup' still showed the old DNS server addresses. Even more weird, I re-opened the properties box and the new services were in place. I then closed the properties box down again and re-opened and as if by magic, the old servers re-appeared! All of this was watched by my colleague who was as baffled as I.
I have no idea what just happened here and why the DNS setting may even have had an impact on this problem, but I'll take the win and walk away.
Our TMS is virtualised running on Windows 2008 R2 and I'm wondering if the adapter settings might have got messed up somehow, but to be honest, I don't really know.
I doubt this will help you Wayne, but its worth a shot. If it doesn't work and If TMS is a VM, it may be worth added an second adapter and recovering the old one.
    Cheers
    Chris

  • Alert Inbox :: Full contents not visible

    Hi
I am working on Alert Management & everything went fine. But when I am getting Message under " <i>Long text</i> " & user list under "<i>recipient</i>" tabs in <u>Alert Inbox</u>, they are not completely visible.
I mean only the message within one tab is coming.
It seems that BSP coding for this page need to be changed, which can increase the width & length somehow.
One of my colleague who knows BSP tried to change the code of this "alertinbox" but he said that width is already 100% & he cant increase more that that.
Can someone tell me where do i need to make changes & what needs to be done.
    Pls. Suggest.
    Best Regards
    - Lalit Chaudhary -

Problem can be found within the SEND method of the CL_ALERT_MANAGER class. In this method it executes the following code:
        CALL METHOD alert_cat_man->get_short_text
          EXPORTING
            ip_cat       = l_cat
            ii_container = li_container
            ip_langu     = l_langu
          IMPORTING
            ep_text      = ep_textstring.
li_container has an attribute mt_elements which contains the values of the containers of the alert category, the recipients and the logical system.
    ep_textstring is an ordinary string.
I have an alert category which has 1 container, a char160 field. I want to put a char140 field in it:
    <i>XIDCLNT050 : Testtype on 20070419 / 103154 interval of 30 min, less than 1 received!</i>
This char140 field is put in the &ERROR_TEXT& container.
The ep_textstring is the finalized string (as defined in transaction ALRTCATDEF).
and in my case should look like:
    <i>Alert IDOC_MONI: &ERROR_TEXT&</i>
If we put in the actual value of &ERROR_TEXT& we get:
    <i>Alert IDOC_MONI: XIDCLNT050 : Testtype on 20070419 / 103154 interval of 30 min, less than 1 received!</i>.
However the output of ep_textstring looks like:
    <i>Alert IDOC_MONI: XIDCLNT050 : TESTTYPE ON 20070419 / 103154 INTERVAL OF 30 MIN, LESS THAN 1 RECEI</i>
ep_textstring is 97 characters long and the correct string should be 101 characters long so both should fit easily in a short text.
In my opinion it's a bug in SAP so im trying to get an answer from them.
    Kind regards,
    Wouter Luijten
edit: got an answer. all texts are 80 characters long. So if your texts are longer than that, they will be truncated.

I installed Arch on a 150Gb HD lately and I'm experiencing a pretty annoying thing regarding available space on the drive.

Everything looks good so far and I should have plenty of space left on the device to play with. But using Thunar in xfce I am told that I have only 350Mb free. This is confirmed by the df command and I can see that I have a huge kcore in /proc.
    df

    ll /proc

Now, I understand that the kcore file is a virtual file that really doesn't affect my available space. But yet, it does affect how eg Thunar operates as it doesn't let me use the gigabytes of free space that I should have available.
I like the simple partition layout that I'm using, but is there some way to let the system ignore kcore and show the correct available space? Or am I forced to reinstall and use another partition scheme and work around the kcore size?
Usually I use ext2/3 but this time I thought I'd try jfs. Can that have something to do with this fenomenon? I have never seen this before...

    Hi,
“However the disk space on 'D' is running low everyday.”
Base on my experience, it most possible is your application cache full the disk space, or you have configured the unsuitable VSS back up schedule.

  • All my music disappeared, but not really??

Hello, having a really bizarre problem with my 5th gen touch and not sure what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
When I updated my touch to 8.0, for some reason my ipod decided to stop displaying all album art. I couldn't figure out how to fix it, so I just began manually re-adding all of the art.
At some point during this process, itunes froze for a little bit and then it showed my ipod as being way over capacity, and all of the data being 'Other.' When I navigate to the music section on my ipod, it's completely empty - nearly 60gb of music gone.
However on itunes, it's still showing all of my music there, but the data is still showing as Other (no longer over capacity). I can play the music on my computer via itunes, but it's now showing on my ipod at all. I'm afraid to restart it or anything because I don't want to lose all of that music that I've spent years collecting. I manage my music manually so I have no library backup - I drag and drop everything onto my ipod via itunes.
Since the data is still there on my ipod, is there any way I can transfer it to my computer so that I can at least have a backup of my library while I try to figure out this problem? I'm on Windows 7 so I downloaded a program called Sharepod, and even though it shows my ipod as being connected, it's not showing any of my music on there (possibly because of this issue that changed all the data to Other?). I tried another program called AnyTrans and it showed all my music available to be able to transfer to my computer, but required a paid license to do so.
Does anyone know of a free program that will let me back up my library on my hard drive? And how could I proceed from there to fix this issue on my ipod? Would I have to restore?
    Thanks again!
edit: ok, seem to have found a program that allows me to transfer all my music to my hard drive. Now I just need to figure out how to fix my ipod.
    Message was edited by: jawgust

Hi - so restoring my iPod did not help.
First I restored from backup, which didn't fix anything, so then I restored completely. After restoring, I dragged all my music (about 52gb worth) back onto the iPod via iTunes. Initially everything seemed ok, but the next time I plugged my iPod into my computer, all the music showed up as 'Other' data in iTunes. Additionally, it got stuck in step 1 of syncing, and seemed to have erased a lot of the music off my iPod.
I restored yet again, put all my music back onto my iPod, and the same thing happened. My music is basically inaccessible, and it will not let me add any new music to the iPod - when I drag a track onto my iPod via iTunes, it gets stuck in a sync. The track is greyed out on iTunes and does not transfer to my iPod.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on with my iPod?

  • Mail Messages "Missing" --- but not really

SO I had to do a full restore from a Time machine disk recently because of a cyclical boot problem I was having --- I ended up losing a days worth of work but it was time critical that I get up and going again sooner then later so I did a full restore. Every thing came back OK except for Mail --- All of my mail is there but when you click the view them them the actual message portion of the e-mail is missing --- BUT If I enter time machine and look back at them they are there. a very strange bug. Anybody have a suggestion?

Report the names of the files and folders present at the first level of the ~/Library/Mail/ folder in the Finder.
In order to post the exact file names and avoid typing mistakes, proceed as follows. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. With that folder open, if you’re looking at it in View > as List mode, first collapse any expanded folders so that the Finder only shows the files and folders at the first level of ~/Library/Mail/. Now, do Edit > Select All (⌘A), then Edit > Copy (⌘C), and paste it in your reply to this post.
Before actually posting that information, edit it so that the file/folder names do not reveal any details you should keep private, e.g. replace any real username with “username” to hide your real email address. Other than that, report the file/folder names as accurately as possible.
Now, go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/. With that folder open, repeat the procedure to let me see the names of the files and folders it contains. Again, you may disguise any mailbox names you wish to keep private. Be careful to not alter any suffixes, though.
Finally, report the names of the files and folders present at the first level of the ~/Library/Mail/Mac-username/ account folder.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • Contacts there but not really?

I just got an iPhone 4s.  This is my first Apple product and I'm learning the ins and outs.  I noticed today that my contacts seem to be doing something weird.  They are all still there, but it's like they're not.  When I text with people, the name I have for them in my contacts list does not show up, their phone number shows up like it's a new number that I don't have in my list.  So instead of my wife's name being there with the texts, her cell number is there.  I checked the users manual and all pictures of the text screens show a person's name in the banner, not a phone number.  Also, when I went to my contact list I saw that all of my phone numbers are not listed as (123) 456 7890 like the users manual shows; they are listed as 1234567890.  All of the digits are run together.  Does this have something to do with it?  Is this different than normal or is this normal for iPhones?  Thanks for any help someone can give me.

I don't know of a way to do them all at once. Maybe it's faster on a computer. It's good to get in the habit from now on to enter numbers that way. You can also just change the most common ones right now, and then little by little change the rest.

  • Music there... but not really there!

I have tried searching the forum but to no avail. I seem to have lost the ability to add and see some of my purchased audio books in the Music Library.
I have purchased about 5 books from the author Tim LaHaye that I have listened to a few different times and I have also create Playlists for. Now I can still see and play these books from the Playlists, but I cannot find the same tracks anywhere in the Music Library!!
I have checked the GetInfo for the tracks in the Playlist and have even tried to change information in there to see if that would cause it to show in the Music Library all to no avail.
I have even tried to re-add these purchased tracks from my harddrive but nothing works. WHAT AM I MISSING? WHERE DID THE SONGS GO IN iTUNES?
On a side note... does anyone know why I am having trouble importing a purchased book downloaded onto Computer#1 and copied over to Computer#2? Both computers are authorized for my account so that is not the problem.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP!!!

LOL. The Music is all in my library but unfortunately my laptop is more than a year old and is now completely archaic hahaha
It hasn't even heard of USB 2.0 hehe
Oh well, I guess it shouldn't be too bad now everything is on it, let's just hope it doesn't decide to delete a few things again [crosses fingers]
