Snow Leopard and Final Cut Studio 3 on a clean system disk - no Pro QT

I have installed Snow Leopard on a clean system disk, together with a Final Cut 7 install. I choosed to install both QTX and QT7.
But, for some reason, I no longer have the Pro versions of QT7 and QTX. I'd like to be able to export to different file formats.
Back in FCS 3, you got the Pro enabled when installing the suite. How can I find a legal registration code for my QT7 and QTX (I guess I could use the same code for both apps)?

When installing FCS 3, Quicktime Pro will enable for Qt 7. There's nothing to click or box the check, it's part of the installation of FCS 3. There's no Qt Pro for OSX. Open Qt7 and in it's menu click About Quicktime, the should be a small logo next to the large Qt logo that says Pro. Also in the export window for Qt he export and save menu should not be grayed out.
(When FCS 3 is install there's not registration code for Qt Pro. In the registration code box were you put the registration code for Qt Pro is the word Automatic were the code should be.)

  • Snow leopard and Final Cut Studio 2.0

Snow leopard comes out tomorrow but will Final Cut Studio 2.0 work with it or will I have to upgrade to Final Cut Studio 3.0?

I just opened up a multiclip project in 10.6 (FCS2) that had been created in 10.5.8 (FCS2) and it seems to be working fine if not better. My multiclip playback had been a little choppy and now there isn't any noticeable choppiness.
Before I was using FW800 but my port died last week. Now I'm using USB 2.0 and its working better than the FW800. I suppose my multiclip playback could have been choppy before because the FW800 was on its way out. I guess there might be too many variables to assess any performance increase.
Bottom line is that there are no problems in 10.6 and FCS2. I can't wait to buy the new FCS (3)!

  • Snow Leopard and Final Cut Studio Versions

As Snow Leopard (SL) and FCS 3 work only on Intel-Mac, while FCS 2 is universal, I am wondering, if the upgrade to FCS 3 will improve efficiency and speed. FCS 2 still carries the PowerPC code being universal while FCS 3 isn't. Therefore I am wondering (apart from the bells & whistles) if FCS 3 is leaner and more code efficient than FCS 2 and therefore worth the upgrade.
    Any comments?
    Cheers
    Hisham

FCS 3 does appear to be "leaner" from what I've read. And it was designed to make use of Snow Leopard's new GCD technology which should improve speed as well. I'm pretty sure it works in 64bit on top of that... if this is accurate, you should notice more efficiency. Any other commenters: Please correct me if my facts are wrong.
    Hope that helps,
    Travis

  • Upgraded to Mac OS X Snow Leopard and final cut express 4 will not work

Where do I go from here?

  • Mac Pro Dual Core (pre 2009) - Leopard to Snow Leopard and Final Cut Pro 7

I have a pre 2009 Mac Pro running Leopard and Final Cut Pro 6. My question is should I upgrade to Snow Leopard, and Final Cut Pro 7? Both, neither, just one of them... and in what order?
I am afraid of some of the issues people have been discussing (one website even said with a non intel based system neither updates can be done, but I have Intel Xeon processor)
Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks kindly

Your macpro will run Snow Leopard and FCut 7 just fine. There are plenty of "whats new in Final Cut Pro" tutorials out there to research and learn whether the new things are useful to you. Snow Leopard...plenty have had issues with it. As always, it's best to have a full mirror backup before you update to Snow Leopard so if you do have problems you can go back easily. I'd definitely move to 10.5.8 if not SLeopard. I have a PCIe card that won't work with SL so I'm holding off till I install a new card. There are still some incompatibilties known so you may want to check Apple's list.

  • Snow Leopard and Final Cut question.

What happens to all my FCP projects when I install Snow Leopard onto my 24" iMac. I know that's probably not a very educated question, but I'm wondering if anything changes in my FCP projects and settings after I make the upgrade. Also do I need to unistall Leopard, or is that taken care of simultaneously durning the addition of Snow L?
    Thank you,
    Trey

Nothing. They will continue to work as usual.

If you bought the $29 upgrade of SL, it requires that Leo is present. Installing as an upgrade replaces older operating system components and essential software. It does not touch add ons like FCS, iWork, Office etc.
If you bought the SL box set, you can erase the drive and install eveything fresh.
As with any update or upgrade, make sure that your irreplaceable files are backed up first.

  • G4 and Final Cut Studio 2?

I'm running a dual 1GHz power pc G4. Thinking about installing Leopard and Final Cut Studio 2. I'm editing DV not HD. Is my G4 going to handle? Or, should I think again?
    Thanks,
    m

Don't do it. You will hose yourself big time like I did. Final Cut Studio 2 requires a processor speed of 1.25GHz or faster. It does not care thet you have a dual 1GHz. I have a Dual 1GHz G4 as well and FCS2 would not work. I had to uninstall it and start over by installing my first version of FCP and all of the upgrades to get it back to 5.1.2.
    Hope it's not to late.

  • If I update to Snow Leopard, will final cut pro still work?

If I update to Snow Leopard, will final cut pro still work? My current version of Final Cut Pro is 6.0.6. Thanks.

Apple is not telling you the Complete story about Lion.
The installer for FCP 6 is Power PC code/ IBM CPU code, which Lion does not support.
FCP 6 is NOT Power PC code, it will run on Lion and Mountain Lion, as I have read on many posts.
    The solution??
Solution condition where FCP 6 installed and upgrading OS to Lion
Do nothing, its already running OK
Solution condition where FCP 6 not installed and OS Lion installed.
Connect a firewire drive to your MAC and install the old OS on it (eg snow leopard) ,
    Reboot to that OS
    Install FCP 6
Reboot to your new OS   (EG Lion)
    Run FCP 6

  • Sony HDR-CX7 and Final Cut Studio 2 ???

    Hey there people,
I live in Australia and I am new to this forum & couldn't actually locate a specific thread for my questions so hopefully anyone could be of assistance.
Basically, I have just bought a Macbook Pro 2.4ghz notebook, Final Cut Studio 2 and a Sony HDR-CX7 hi def camcorder.
Has anyone come across issues with Final Cut Studio picking up the hi def clips straight from the Sony camcorder when you try to import files to Final Cut? After some research, it seems as though this can simply be fixed by buying a FireWire cable to connect from the camcorder straight to the FireWire port on the notebook. Is this correct??
Any assistance would be great or if anyone knows of a link to a thread specifically for the Sony HDR-CX7 and Final Cut Studio 2. The standard def seems to work ok but the hi def isn't picked up on either the Macbook direct or Final Cut Studio. I just would like to ensure that i am able to use the camcorder hi def with Final Cut
    Cheers!!

You should be able to transfer from the camera to FCP through the log and transfer window with a FW cable... FCP 6.0.1 added AVCHD support anyway...

No, FCP X will only work with Compressor 4.

  • What do I need to do to install Final Cut Studio version 2 on a new Mac Book Pro

What do I need to do to install Final Cut Studio version 2 on a new Mac Book Pro that does not support power PC anymore

You need to install Rosetta from a OSX 10.6 install disk.
FCS2 is intel native, it is only the installer that requires PPC support.

  • Installing and Using Logic Studio and Final Cut Studio 2 On the Same iMac

In March of this year, I switched from being a long-time user of PC's to a 24 in. 2.4 GHZ iMac. In late May I purchased Final Cut Studio 2 and Aperture and have greatly enjoyed using both of these applications on my iMac. Both run with no problems under Leopard which I installed shortly after it came out. I am now considering the purchase of Logic Studio since I have enjoyed midi sequencing and audio editing for years on my PC's but wish now to do this on my iMac.
I note that two of the applications included in Logic Studio (Soundtrack Pro 2 and Compressor 3) are a part of the Final Cut Studio 2 suite of programs that I already have installed on my iMac. How will Logic Studio handle this issue when I run the install of that software, i.e. will it be aware that I already have Soundtrack Pro 2 and Compressor 3 and just have those install options grayed out or will it overwrite my FCS2 installation of those two applications? Are there other issues or conflicts between Aperture or Final Cut Studio 2 applications and Logic Studio that I should know before installing Logic Studio?
Thank you very much in advance for responding, and I look forward to reading this forum from this point onward.
    Tom

Thanks again for your prompt responses, blayzay. I look forward to getting and installing Logic Studio. If anyone has any precautions on using it with FCS2 or with Leopard, please add a comment to this thread.

  • Final Cut Studio and Final Cut Studio 2

At work, we have a Mac Pro running Final Cut Studio (original) and recently acquired a G5 and would like to purchase Studio 2 for it. Are Studio 2 projects compatible in any way with Final Cut Studio? Are there any compatibility packs for this?

FCP projects are not backwards compatible so a project created in FCP 6 will not work on FCP 5.
The workaround is using [XML exports|http://developer.apple.com/appleapplications/fcpxml.html].

  • Mac Book Pro and final cut studio 2

    Hi,
Bought a MBP last year and am looking to purchase Final Cut Studio 2 Universal. After looking through some discussions I'm still unsure how well this package will run with my setup. Yes it will be fine, or yes it will run but with some limitations, or yes it will run but I should get a different video card, etc.....? A definate yes or no would be appreciated and any limitations or known issues. I will be using a120GB external hard drive for my video footage.
    Thanks, Mick
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong area or if these questions have been answered. I'm new to Macs and forums and wouldn't like to spend that much cash on a maybe!
    Mac Book Pro 15   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Intel core duo 2.16 GHz 2GB ram/Radeon X1600 256Mb 80GB hard drive

    Yes, it will be fine.
The only limitation is Color which needs an external screen with at least 1650x1050 to be kind of useful though it runs at smaller resolutions.
