Software Center application shows Installing after it's uninstalled.

I have an odd situation.  I have an application which uninstalls from software center, gives and exit code of 0.  and is then not detected.  For all intents and purposes it should simply show available, but it shows installing, and it never
stops.  THere is nothing in appenforce to show what it's doing.  It's been 3 days and I'm at a loss.  Any help would be great.

So I've checked the following logs.
AppIntentEval.log:
Shows the application
Current State= Not Installed
Applicability= Applicable
ResolvedState= Available
ConfigureState= NotNeeded
AppEnforce.log:
Shows the application
exit code is 0
Application has been set to force a reboot, and to not.
If no reboot, then application is not deiscovered after uninstall
Software Center is still showing the application as "Installing"  It's installing 2 MSIs in an install.cmd.  just FYI.  Any thoughts?

  • Software Center Application Uninstallation Button Greyed Out and Deploying an Application with Uninstall switch Fails

    Hi,
I tried everything I could find on the internet but no luck so far. I can successfully deploy MS Visio 2013 to the clients. I also want to be able to uninstall it from the clients. On the client machine Uninstall button is greyed out. This deployment is
installed as "Available" and there is only one deployment type within that MS Visio 2013 Application.
I tried the following uninstall commands in my deployment:
    setup.exe /uninstall
    setup.exe /uninstall
    VisPro
    /config .\vispro.ww\uninstallvisio.xml
    “\\SRVSCCM2012\Sources\MSApplications\MSVisioPro_2013_64Bit_ENG\setup.exe” /uninstall VisPro /config "\\SRVSCCM2012\Sources\MSApplications\MSVisioPro_2013_64Bit_ENG\vispro.ww\uninstallvisio.xml"
    \\SRVSCCM2012\Sources\MSApplications\MSVisioPro_2013_64Bit_ENG\setup.exe /uninstall VisPro /config \\SRVSCCM2012\Sources\MSApplications\MSVisioPro_2013_64Bit_ENG\vispro.ww\uninstallvisio.xml
I checked Product ID from Setup.xml and I know it is correct. My uninstallvisio.xml' content is below:
    <Configuration Product="VisPro">
    <Display Level="basic" CompletionNotice="yes" SuppressModal="yes" AcceptEula="yes" />
    <Setting Id="SETUP_REBOOT" Value="Never" />
    </Configuration>
Last night, I downloaded and installed Cumulative Update 1 for SCCM 2012 R2 and I haven't tried the deployment after the update, yet. I will try it today but please let me know what else to check.
    Yavuz Selim Atmaca

After I updated SCCM Server and test client pc with CU1 , I tried to deploy visio as Required. It installed successfully. Then I uninstalled visio by deploying the application with Uninstall Action.
After that I tried to deploy visio as "Available" to see if Software Center Uninstall button works. However visio deployment does not come to Software Center's Available Applications List. I check the status of the deployment under the Deployments monitoring
node and it says Success "Already Compliant". I dont know what it means. Does config manager thinks that visio already installed?
    Yavuz Selim Atmaca
2 or 3 hours later that -Succes "Already Compliant"- status of the deployment under the Deployments monitoring node is vanished automatically and Software Center application list showed the new deployment. I installed it and  uninstalled it succesfully.
So, you are right Solution is the CU1 but I am still wondering why my available deployment took so time to be visible in Software Center althought I didn't enter any schedule to be available.

  • Software center dont show the package(not applications) on the client as installed when logging in with other User ID.

It is showing as Installed in software center with user ID through which it is actually installed but not from other User ID's.
Please send me suggestions or how we can resolve this issue.

Software center might not show it if there are multiple users logged in. It will only be shown to the

Have you met the requirements for a successful install:
You (who will be Hotsyncing) are the ONLY person logged onto the computer.
You have Windows Admin priveleges and are NOT logged on as Administrator.
ALL other applications are OFF, especially firewall and antivirus.
Do NOT plug the device into the hotsync cable until the install is completed and you are asked to sync.
Never, ever use Switch User; always Log On and Log Off.

  • Applications Installed through task sequence not showing up in Software Center

In the task sequence we use for our OSD Windows 7 machine build, we have Custom-Install Application steps which install a number of of our Applications.  Each of these Applications has the "Allow this application to be installed from the Install
Application task sequence action without being deployed" checkbox checked.  All of the Applications have the following properties set:
    Installation behavior: Install for system
Logon requirement: Whether or not a user is logged in
    Installation program visibility: Hidden
When a machine is built using this task sequence, all of the Applications install successfully - they show up in Control Panel\Programs and Features, and they run correctly. However, none of them show up in the Software Center. I'm not seeing anything in
any of the logs that indicates a problem, and the Software Center remains empty even after running all the client evaluation cycle actions
Interestingly, if I add a couple of the newly build machines to a collection, then target deployments for the already installed Applications to that collection, after running the Machine Policy Retrieval and Evaluation Cycle the Applications immediately
show up in Software Center as installed.
Does anyone know if Applications installed through a task sequence do not show up in the Software Center by default, or could you give me some troubleshooting tips if this is not normal?
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    SCCM 2012 SP1, Single site, W7 clients

Why you deploy applications through task sequences? Task sequences are built and meant to be used with OSD, not application deployment.
To my knowledge, if you have application install step in a task sequence and you deploy that task sequence to a collection of machines, the software center on those machines only sees the task sequence itself, not the applications inside the task sequence.
If you want your applications to be shown in the software center, change the method of deploying stuff and deploy applications as they're are meant to.

  • Software Center showing Application Task Sequence as Operating System

I have created a custom task sequence and it includes 2 applications.  The first one uninstalls an app using a batch file and the 2nd TS installs a new version.  The problem is that software center is showing type Operating System so when I click
on it to install, it gives a message about installing an operating system and it may delete/format the drive.
Is there a setting I need to change so it sees it as an application rather than an OS?  I have other application Task Sequences that show as application rather than Operating System...
    Thanks
    Rick Ray

That's by design. And by design Task Sequences were meant for Operating System Deployment, that's why you also get notified about "Operating System Installation" in the Software Center.
You should use SCCM Applications with supersedence to accomplish what you are trying to do:
Do an application for App 1 (your old app)
Do an application for App 2 (your new app)
Configure App2 to supersede App1 (uninstall the App1)
    Deploy App2 to your computers
This way the App1 will be uninstalled before the App2 is installed.

  • Software center reports application installed even though it has not installed

So basically we are deploying updates for an application. We re-bundle the application installation .exe into an .msi using EMCO repackage. our deployments work in a test environment,  but when we deploy to the production environment it fails. On that
note it fails with the software center saying it installed the software please see link.
I am completely baffled by what is going wrong here. My test environment is only four virtual desktops and the company deployment group in like 70 desktops both are located in the same building. My SCCM12 instance is in a remote location connected via VPN.
The deployment package size is about 60Mb the software manager reports the package was only 1Mb.  I do not have a copy of a users execmgr.log file as of yet but i will examine and post as soon as I get a copy of one. Any initial help or point in the right
    direction is appreciated.
I apologize for the lack of visual aid. The forum would not let me post the screen shots I have nor could i link back to my oneDrive.
    Best regards,
    Brett

Look in the "appenforce.log". It will tell you the exit code, also check the appdiscovery.log to determine the detection is passing or failing. Normally a MSI will use the ProductID by default. The detection method can be viewed/changed looking
    at the deployment package.
Any reason why you need to deploy this via MSI? Does the exe not have switches to run the install, because you can define your own detection to detect if an exe installed correctly.
Edit - Exit code 0 means successful, 3010 also but also telling ccmexec that a reboot is required. Anything else would tell ccmexec that it failed. Also, what you will learn here is that SCCM delivers the installation and commands for the install however
the installer (the MSI) is responsible for all the work after that. SCCM just monitors the install for success/fail.

  • Application status in Software Center "installing" for hours

    Hello,
I have sequenced SPSS, application installs on the client and works but... in the Software Center remains status "installing" for hours.
Once the status changes to installed, no errors in aapenforce.log.
     CAppV5XHandler::InstallApp() completed successfully.
I have tried many times, App-v 5 and App-v 5 SP2. The same problem so it is application doing somenthing apparently.
    How to troubleshoot this?
    Where to look ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Hanna

When I run msiexec on the sequencer I do generate the log file but on the installation on the sequencer runs perfect. Also the log file contains no errors.
The problem is, when I install appv from the Software Center, which in fact is a PS command  "Mount-AppvClientPackage", I do not issue any msiexec command at this time and I cannot generate the msi log file.
So, I wonder in which logfile can I see what is going on in the meantime...
In this example it took one hour...while application itself was installed within a minute and you could just open it and use it. See the logfile..

  • Orphaned Applications in software center

I have seen this a few times but seems to be intermittent.  I created a query based user collection.  My test user account was part of that collection.  I deployed an app to the collection.  The user was able to see it in the app catalog
and install it successfully.  The user then uninstalled the app successfully.  The app stills shows in Software Center as available (which appears to be normal although I wish the behavior would be that it would disappear).  But that's not the
issue.  So I no longer wanted the user to be able to deploy this application that they previously installed and uninstalled.  Since it is a query based collection which the user should be in, I added an exclude collection that just had the user account
in it  which seemed to work fine.  The exclusion collection caused my test user account to drop out of the collection.  After a few minutes, the app dropped out of the app catalog which is good and what I expected.  The problem here is
that the app still remains in Software Center and shows as available and the user can still continue to install and uninstall this app.  I have forced user policy several times with no change and let it sit for a few hours with still no change.  As
a test I then removed all membership from the collection so that it was completely empty.  Still no change.  I then deleted the collection and the deployment and still no change.  I have also forced machine policy and application deployment
evaluation cycles and still no change. I have ensured that there are no other deployments of this app, it is not a dependent app of any other app either.  So I am left with an app that I can still install/uninstall from software center with no existing
deployments of that app.  Other times I have done similar and the app does disappear from Software Center after updating user policy.  But definitely once or twice in the past I have seen this behavior as well.  In the past I believe I removed
and re-installed the configmgr client to get rid of the orphaned apps.  I have not done that yet this time in the hopes of troubleshooting further.  Has anyone ran into anything like this?

Thanks, but I am the person that originally posted that issue.  This issue is similar but much worse.  That one was just a nuisance in that the apps remain available in software center after you have performed an uninstall.  But to workaround
that problem I would have to somehow get the user out of the collection that was targeted with the deployment and that usually got the app to drop out of software center.  In this case however, the app remains even after deleting the collection and the
deployment.  So this app is no longer deployed to anyone but the user with the app orphaned in software center can still install and uninstall it.  I even cleared the cache on the user machine thinking that would at least cause it to fail to install
next time but the user was able to re-download content and install again.  So to me this one is much more serious than the first one.  I will have to file another case.  But curious if anyone else has seen this and for now if anyone has a workaround
like perhaps finding the policy and deleting it or something that I can script.  Just started poking through policy spy but have not gotten far yet.

  • How to clear/reset "Installed Software" in Software Center?

    Hello!
I've done a big mistake with my application objects!
I did have two applications in SCCM 2012 with the same MSI-installation package. The reason for this is because i would like to have one that is deployed as Required (with primary device) and one that is deployed as Available for those without primary device.
Then I decided to only keep the available deployment, so i deleted the required appilcation entierly from SCCM.
Not so wise because now all the required installations is stucked in Software Center, at the "Installed Software"-tab. And there is noway to remove it.
So my question is, is there someway to reset or clear the information from software center? Or any other sulotion to my problem? :)
    Best regards,
    Johan Lång

It seems like it has removed the entries from the software client automatically now. But I still got problem with the main source of the problem. That I cant push out updates via software center.
Let me explain the main problem.
I had app1 as a MSI, and two application objects (AO). One AO as required and one as available, but the same MSI.
After a while I got an integration-application between app1 and another program, as a MSI so i decided to put that as a dependency to app1, but also pushed it out to all users as a required deployment, because it would not install it otherwise, if not the user
did an uninstall and then a fresh install of app1.
And for a couple of weeks ago I got my eyes on "automatically update any superseeded applications" while deploying. So i decided to use that with one AO instead of two (required/available). In the same time an update came to app1, lets call it
    app1.1.
This was a perfect time to try my new discover and disabled app1 and superseeded it with app1.1 with a available deployment, with a dependency of the integration-application.
But the clients could not be updated automatically and when the user tried to update it manually via application catalog it get stucked at the last step "evaluate" before it jumps over to Software Center. And nothing else happen. Until it crasches
and warn about "it could not be evaluated" in the application catalog. Sometimes it pops up anyway in software center but it wont continue to install, and if you try to manually start the installation it get stucked at the status "Waiting"
    and nothing happens.
If I login with another user I can start the installation manually and it works fine.
If I uninstall the sccm-client and install it back again, the "installed software" will be cleared and I can start the installations manually, so it pops up under "installed software" again. Without any problems.
It also worked to install if i removed the dependency of the integration-application.
So my guess is that something is getting corrupted in the user profile, but I cant find any files regarding sccm in there exept the log file for software center.
I hope you understand abit of what i try to explain :) Sorry for bad grammar!
    Regards,
    Johan

  • Newly created Applications do not appear in Software Center or Application Catalog

I'm still rather new to SCCM; but I'm slowly working towards configuring an application to be deployed to my clients via an application package that I configured.  I set something up for deployment, and it's my understanding that the app should show
up in the software center for the users that it's deployed to.
However, I'm having an issue where not only is it not showing up, but it's not being installed on the clients I've deployed it to.  The main problem is that I have no idea how to troubleshoot this - I don't know what logs to look at for issues (or where
the logs are); and I've been having a ton of trouble locating 'basic troubleshooting' info for application deployment.
If anyone could point me towards info that can get me on the right path for troubleshooting why my application isn't either automatically installing on the clients or why it isn't showing in the software center/application catalog, that would be very helpful.
    Thanks!

I created the app on Monday, then did the deployment to a computer collection; Tuesday I read something that implied for it to show in software center it had to be deployed to a user collection, so I did that.  I have told it to distribute the content
to all 3 of my distro points (three physical offices, one DP in each office), and I did that on Monday, then again on Tuesday when I deployed to the user collection.
Looking at it now, it seems as though the content hasn't been deployed to the other DP's yet though.  When I go to Monitoring - Distribution Status - Content Status and select the application I created, it shows the status as 1 success (primary office/sccm
site/where the content was located when I created the package), and two as 'in progress' (other two sites), but has shown in progress for over 24h now.   When I look at the further detail for the distribution - for one site the message shows last status
time of yesterday at 4:30pm and says "the content files for package <package id> have not yet arrived from the source site."  the other one has the same last status time, but says "distribution manager instructed scheduler to send
package <package id> to child site."
So either the distribution is taking forever or it hasn't updated the status since it finished.  Either way, maybe this is the par that I need to look into?

  • Not seeing New Software notifications in Software Center

Hello, I have created a deployment for Windows Internet Explorer 10. It is set as available. I can see it in the Software Center and install it on my PC with no issues.  The deployment is set to display in software center and show all notifications.
My trouble is that I'm not seeing any new software notifications and our company would really like to alert the users that there is new software available. Is there something that would prevent these notifications from happening or something that I'm overlooking?

Thanks for the link -- I ran the WBEMTEST tool and ran both queries, and neither setting is FALSE, so I think that shouldn't be an issue.
Not sure if it's relevant, but my IE 10 application is an Application, not to be confused with a package which I'm used to deploying. This is my first Application
    deployment.
I can't find anywhere else where notifications can be suppressed.

  • Uninstall button grayed out in Software Center

Hi I am running the latest CU update for SCCM 2012 R2 --> CU4. And the clients are running the updated hotfix as well.
We have created an application and using a custom script. Created a deployment type --> Script Installer. In this source location I have two exe's, one Install.exe and another Uninstall.exe. Inside the deployment type I am using the same location for
both uninstall and install of the application.
Once I deploy the application and make it available to some systems the Uninstall button is available for a brief moment and then greys out and I cant uninstall it. On some systems it shows up and the Uninstall button works. I only have one deployment type
and running it on Windows 7 x64 systems. Two identical machines Uninstall button is not greyed out on one but it is on the other. Do you know what could be causing this? I need to get the uninstall part working on the systems that have the application already
installed. I am wondering if it doesn't like the location of the Uninstall script?
I am not seeing anything in the obvious log files. Is there a log file for the Uninstall button?

I just discovered something weird going on. So on the deployment type I made a change so the revision number changed on the application.  On the system I ran machine policy refreshed software center and the uninstall button became available to
    select.
I didn't run the Uninstall and just for kicks I refreshed software center on the same system and the Uninstall button got greyed out again. I didn't have to run a re-evaluation or machine policy to grey it out.
Not sure why that is happening. I still don't see the appenforce log either.
Something strange going on in my environment.
