Software Center Single Installed Software "Uninstall" greyed out

SCCM 2012 R2 CU3 installed across the board.
My software center has a single application that shows in the "Installed Software" tab.  This is what i expect to see.  However, the Uninstall button is not available.  If I look at the "Installation Status" tab, my
Application is still greyed out.  However, i have the option to select different applications here.  When i select another application and then select my applicaiton again, the uninstall button is available and the uninstall works without issue as
expected.
My appication has a single deployment type.  Nothing special to it.  No requirements or dependancies.
Any thoughts on this one?
I found a similar post here:
http://www.myitforum.com/forums/Software-Center-Possible-bug-with-uninstall-button-m243139.aspx

Have you also deployed CU3 to your clients ?
Have you specify the command line to uninstall the deployment type content on the Content page of the Create Deployment Type Wizard ?

  • Software center "recently installed software requires a computer restart"

I've no idea why I'm getting this message in the notification area.
This message shows up a few mins after I have deployed an operating system task sequence to a laptop thin client (that uses File Based Write Filter).
This message doesn't appear to pop-up if I have the write filter disabled. but when it's
enabled, the message comes up as described below.
If I open up Software Center, there is nothing showing anywhere, so I've no idea what is being deployed or causing this message to come up. I reboot and it goes into Service Mode, then eventually reboots and back into normal mode.
How exactly can I tell what's going on?

Did you ever figure out an answer to Service Mode right after an OSD task sequence?  I'm having the same issue myself and thought I'd check.  Thanks.
Did you ever figure out an answer to Service Mode right after an OSD task sequence?  I'm having the same issue myself and thought I'd check.  Thanks.
What I found was that the systems would go into service mode some point after re-imaging and I wasn't sure why.
What I think has been helping so far is doing the following:
    1. For FBWF settings, add the following to your file-based write filter (I've done this for HP MT41 systems running WES7.
    cmd /c fbwfmgr.exe /setthreshold 256
    cmd /c fbwfmgr.exe /setpreallocation 1
    cmd /c fbwfmgr.exe /setcompression 0
    2. Within SCCM, make sure you have a collection created for the device you don't want to go into service mode, and ensure that the collection has as many queries as possible to ensure that the device gets put in the collection as soon as possible.
    3. On said collection, in its properties, set a maintenance window for a day of the past (like 12/2/2014 or something), and choose "NONE" for recurrence.
I believe the above should get rid of the system going into service mode, so far a few weeks it's fixed that for me.
Before, my systems would go into service mode, the software center would be up saying a reboot was in order, with the 15 minute or so timer on the screen, even with Windows Update completely disabled, and the file based write filter icon would be yellow.
I'd check Software Center from the Programs menu, and there was NOTHING in there.
I checked the File Based Write Filter and there was nothing in the overlay to be committed.
So when I checked SCCM and looked up the device that was in service mode, I used the powershell right-click tools to retrieve all Collections that the laptop was a member of, and it was not a member of the collection that had a past maintenance window, but
it was a collection of "All Systems" and "All Desktop and Server Clients", both of which had OSD Task sequences deployed to them.
So, I'm lead to believe that, even though the Task Sequences deployed are only available via Media and PXE, that Windows Embedded systems have have a glitch where will still get the deployment signal, or it will have to disable the file-based-write-filter
(hence going into "service mode") and do nothing while it figures out how to handle the deployment. That's just a theory but I'm not sure what else to conclude.

  • HT201272 Trying to reinstall app and the install button is greyed out.

Have been trying to install an app that was purchased on a previous phone and was subsequently deleted. I am trying to get it on my new phone as I would now like to use it, it says install but when I click install button is greyed out and it won't download

Hi,  I also have the same problem.
Yesterday, my Iphone 4s cannot detect the home wifi. My laptop does, my neigbor's phone and laptop can detect and connect to our home wifi. I tried to reset the network settings and all but it is can't detect the wifi. I realized, my problem has something to do with ios7 (well, I am not really sure if that is the cause of my wifi problem) I havent updated my phone to ios7 since it was launched.
Now, I am trying to update my iphone 4s to ios7 just to see if that would solve the wifi problem/issue I have with my iphone but the INSTALL and DOWNLOAD option is greyed out due to the weak internet connection we have with our network. I cannot also use wifi, of course because my iphone 4s cannot even detect our home wifi. Is there any other option/s I can do?
    Please help me.

  • Software Center and "Installed" State

Running into an odd situation between OSD refresh and "software center". I have an OSD task sequence advertised to a device collection as "available" which runs a OSD refresh sequence (same OS).
The sequence kicks off fine from software center and the OSD sequence is working, however when the sequence finishes and i log back into the machine, when i check Software center the task sequence is showing as "installed" versus available. How
do I make it so the sequence always shows as "available" regardless of if it has been executed or not?

Not sure if there is a better way, but you could add a step to the end of your refresh TS to remove the execution history from the registry.

  • Software Center Stuck Installing

If a program has started running and is stuck at installing how can I stop it so that I can click on the Reinstall button? I have restarted SMS Agent Host and didn't help. I'd rather not remove the client from the collection and then re-add as
this is a workaround that may allow me to click on reinstall. I'd also prefer to not restart the computer.
What are the other options to reset this deployment back to status of Failed in Software Center?

    Hi,
What value have you set Maximum runtime to? if not configured that is 12 hours. Restarting the computer will solve it, most likely you have a setup process running as well that is causing the Software Center to wait for the installation to finish, killing
that process either with TaskKill or Task Manager should do the trick..

  • Updated and now the ipod communication software won't install or uninstall

After updating to the newest itunes (biggest mistake ever) the ipod communication files cannot be installed or uninstalled. I keep getting the same error message despite countless attempts to fix the install, uninstall and reinstall, install manually...
itunes does not recognize my ipods when they are plugged in, and I've now gone over a week without being able to sync them...completely worthless!

Not sure what exactly you did; your description is a bit confusing. What I suggest you do (assuming you want the English version for Windows)
*Download the installer from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.0/enu/AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe (or from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.0/enu/AdbeRdr90_en_US_Std.exe if you don't want Adobe AIR and Acrobat.com)
*Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
*Run the utility and remove any Adobe Reader references
    *Run the Adobe Reader installer

  • Can't install latest iOS 8.1.2, "Install Now" button greyed out

We have a new iPod touch that's running iOS 7.1.2.
We're trying to update to iOS 8.1.2.
The device is empty (no content, all Settings reset).
The "Install Now" button on the Software Update screen is greyed out.
    The battery is full.
We've restarted the device, and also waited an hour or two to see if the button would become available.

    Is the iPod activated?
    Does it work OK?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Connect to to computer and update via iTunes

  • Essbase install option is greyed out on solaris

    Hi,
I'm installing 64 bit EPM 11.1.2.2 on solaris 10 Update 10 sparc 64 bit server.
I 've downloaded required files from edelivery and upzipped all files on solaris machine. But somehow the Essbase option in the EPM installer is greyed out. Infact all options are greyed out apart from couple of options under foundation. All preinstall checks done by installer wer ok.
    Any pointers will be appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance!!

    Hi
    Thanks for the replies.
I'm doing a a new install on a new solaris machine. Only oracle client was installed earlier on this machine with the same user (say userA). I'm using the same userA to install Essbase.
John- I've tried clicking on the installer window/ checking/unchecking all products, but nothing happens. I do not see any missing unix packages. Is there a list of required unix packages mentioned in the install n config guide ? what do i need to look for?
Vasavya - where does this oracle.instance file resides? In my case UserA installed the oracle client and the same user is trying to install Essbase for the first time.
However during oracle client installation - the installer prompted me to run a script using root user specifically.
Could this be related to the fact that my oracle client is installed under /m01/app/products/11.2.0/client_1 and I'm trying to install EPM under /m01/app/products/oracle/Middleware ?
Could this be the reason ?
Also, I'm downloading/ unzipping all files again just to be sure that nothing is corrupted.
    Any pointers will be helpful
    Thanks again

  • Change request: Make Software Center separate Available Software vs required software

    Hi!
Our Campus is currently working with SCCM 2012. We have been getting client feedback on it that I felt should be shared with the community.
Clients are getting confused when required software updates and available updates are nested together in Software Center. Where they assume all of it is required.
Is there a way to make by default available software not nest with the required software in Software Center for our clients?
I know we have the Application Catalog, but it feels limited in controlling on which machines software is released too and only focuses on Who.

This is really close to what I am looking for. Where if I'm understanding it correctly this will hide the required deployments.
I'll talk it over with my co-workers to see if it would be a decent mitigation.
Ideally I'm looking for to see both the required and available software but in different tabs/views (so it is really apparent what is required and what's there for them to use optionally).
I really appreciate all the help!

  • HT5957 Hi, received ios 7.0.2 update but cant install it as install button remains greyed out.

Hi, received ios 7.0.2 but cant install it as button is greyed out and doesn't respond?

Is your iPad connected to power ? I think that if you are running on battery and the charge level is below a particular level (maybe 50%, I'm not sure) then it may prevent you installing the update as a precaution so that it doesn't potentially go empty during the install.

  • I can't download Akamai NetSession because when the window opens to "How do you want to install tis software?" the continue button is greyed out.

Please help me with this problem. I just purchased an upgrade for CS6 and I can't even download the software that allows me to download the actually Adobe products.

I have a MacBook Pro Retina display. I purchase in 2011 CS5 design standard. Yesterday, I purchased CS6 design standard and Adobe sent me an email with a link to the download. I clicked on the link and it goes to my account but when I click on the download program it allows me to go as far as "Select a Destination." But under "How do you want to install this software? It show one choice but I can click on it to make the "continue" button show up.

  • Software Center reporting question

Usually when I push out MS updates they would usually show up in the software center under "Installed software" it doesn't show anything after the updates are installed.  It does shows up in windows update under "view update history".

    Correct. That's default behavior.

  • Applications Installed through task sequence not showing up in Software Center

In the task sequence we use for our OSD Windows 7 machine build, we have Custom-Install Application steps which install a number of of our Applications.  Each of these Applications has the "Allow this application to be installed from the Install
Application task sequence action without being deployed" checkbox checked.  All of the Applications have the following properties set:
    Installation behavior: Install for system
Logon requirement: Whether or not a user is logged in
    Installation program visibility: Hidden
When a machine is built using this task sequence, all of the Applications install successfully - they show up in Control Panel\Programs and Features, and they run correctly. However, none of them show up in the Software Center. I'm not seeing anything in
any of the logs that indicates a problem, and the Software Center remains empty even after running all the client evaluation cycle actions
Interestingly, if I add a couple of the newly build machines to a collection, then target deployments for the already installed Applications to that collection, after running the Machine Policy Retrieval and Evaluation Cycle the Applications immediately
show up in Software Center as installed.
Does anyone know if Applications installed through a task sequence do not show up in the Software Center by default, or could you give me some troubleshooting tips if this is not normal?
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    SCCM 2012 SP1, Single site, W7 clients

Why you deploy applications through task sequences? Task sequences are built and meant to be used with OSD, not application deployment.
To my knowledge, if you have application install step in a task sequence and you deploy that task sequence to a collection of machines, the software center on those machines only sees the task sequence itself, not the applications inside the task sequence.
If you want your applications to be shown in the software center, change the method of deploying stuff and deploy applications as they're are meant to.
