Software clustering with Client Access

Hello,
We are planning to by BO XI R3.0 with Client Access License. I heard that I can do software clustering only with user based or CPU based license and not with Client Access License. Could someone clarify me that can I do software clustering with Client Access License?
Thanks in advance.
Rasheed.

Well from what I understand is if you buy XI 3.0 then there are generally 3 license types available which can be mixed in some cases.
1) CPU license - unlimited users per system
2) named users license - you are allowed an amount of users in the system unlimited sessions per user
3) concurrent users where the license is based on the user sessions
So for the client some clients like crystal reports have a user license others like deski/designer can login locally fine but if you want to access server components then they fall under the above restrictions based on the license of your server.

  • Dealing with client access to servers behind NAT

It depends on your firewall configuration. This is normally known as 'loopback' - a client internal to the network accessing a service on a WAN IP address will be directed to the correct server if loopback is enabled.
I remember, some years ago, dealing with firewalls which explicitly would not allow this to happen, requiring a split DNS strategy. I don't recall needing to regularly flush the DNS cache in this case.

Hi there,This is just a general question about "best practice".Imagine this scenario:a network protected by firewall, all LANs using private IP address, e.g. 10.x.x.x and/or 192.168.x.xaccess to the server from external (www/ftp/etc) will need to go through firewallsetup the firewall with 1-1 NAT
for example: access to 1.2.3.4 on port 8080 goes to the server 10.0.0.10 on port 8765using Windows Server 2008 as DC/DNS
My question is ... how the client deal with that?
I mean, let's say someone grab a laptop and goes to another country.
From the above scenario, accessing the server would be 1.2.3.4 as the destination IP address. But what happen when the laptop goes back to the office? accessing the same server will still give 1.2.3.4 as the destination since it's still cached, right?
does it mean that we need to set up a script to always flush...

  • Client access action script

I have seen websites with client access text fields. i want
to create one, but do not have an example to work from. For
example, type in your access code "12345", submit, and be forwarded
to a site directory of the same name eg. mysite.com/12345/
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

// create a dynamic text field with instance name

  • Add Client access server with DR MBX to server clients from DR site.

    Hello,
We have a medium size implementation at our company. It is as below,
    - Two mail box servers (MBX1, MBX2) at production Site.
    - One mail box server (MBXDR01 at DR site (Active))
    - One DAG (name: IDKUDAG ) (MBX1,MBX2 and MBXDR01 are members)
    - Two Client access servers at production site (with MBX1 and MBX2)
There is a high speed WAN connection between two sites.
What I need to do, I want to add additional CAS server at DR site as in case of production site maintenance or outage I want to migrate the DBs to DR MBX and the CAS server handle mail
    client’s access.
Can I add a new server at the DR site with the same configuration as the production site???
Or there is another solution for this case.
    Please advise.

    Hi Ahmed,
The CAS configuration for Exchange service in the second datacenter can be the same configuration as you mentioned. For example, the same internal&external namespaces for OWA, Autodiscover, EWS, OAB etc. in two datacenters.
Also make sure the certificate has included all needed namespace for the second site. For your reference, here is an article talked about the details of site resilients:

I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

  • The Deploy Software Updates Wizard completed with errors - Access is Denied

Hello, I am trying to download some updates that were synced up to the SCCM's database from another WSUS server. I am not able to get it done because the wizard fails with the access is denied error. I checked patchdownloader.log file and saw Error code
= 5  which means access denied. I tried to change permissions on the "updateservicespackages" folder within the folder, and I have full NTFS permissions for system, administrators, and read only permissions for everyone. Same thing goes for
the share permissions. My account is in the administrators group. The only way I can get it to work is by granting full permissions to "everyone", but that cannot be security friendly. Which account is "Deploy Software Updates Wizard" using
so that I can properly give it the required rights?

    Hi,
You could have a look at the thread below. Lucas used ProcMon that shows an access denied with the user which he was using.  Permission via group wasn't enough. Give your user full share/security access and everything works fine.

  • Single Client Access Name for Weblogic Forms and Reports.

    I have a 2 node clustered system:
    Windows 2008 R2 64-bit
    Weblogic 10.3.3 (on each node)
Weblogic Forms and Reports 11.1.1.3 (on each node)
Database 11gR2 RAC 11.2.0.1 (on each node)
The forms and reports are clustered and I can connect to each from each of the two servers and the cluster is working well.
The database uses Single Client Access Name (SCAN) to present the database as if it were one server called dbserver1.
I was wondering if there was a similar thing for Weblogic and what everyone else uses to present their application as a single name to the user.
I tried using Windows Network Load Balancing, but this stops the database scan listeners from working.
    Thanks.

    Dear,
Did you find an answer to your question back in 2009?
We are facing the same installation architecture, but we do not find any concrete information regarding SCAN with Oracle Forms 11g

  • 2003 to 2008 R2 file cluster migration - shares fail to migrate due to missing client access point

    Hello,
I need to migrate my 2003 cluster to 2008 R2, but am having difficulty doing so. I have a 2003 2 node disk and node majority cluster which has 3 groups (2 individual file shares) and a separate group for the quorum.
    I'm trying to migrate my 2003 groups to a 2 node 2008 r2 cluster.
I've ran through the cluster migration wizard as
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff182337(v=ws.10).aspx), the disk resources within my group migrate, but the file shares don't.
    In summary:
    - I ran the 2008 r2 cluster run migration wizard and connected to my 2003 cluster
    - Once the wizard completes, I left the the newly migrated group on the 2008 r2 cluster offline
    - Took the appropriate file share and disk resource group offline on 2003
    - Ensured the iSCSI disks for my migrated data are showing correctly on the 2008 R2 node (I'm using the same drive letter which my 2003 node used for the moved disk)
    - I then brough the resources online. Resources fail to come online as client access point is missing, so I add a new access point (http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2010/08/24/using-multiple-client-access-points-cap-in-a-windows-server-2008-r2-failover-cluster.aspx)
    - Restart my 2008 r2 cluster node
    - File share is missing! The file share has not been imported
I then tried the registry key export and import:
    - On my 2003 active cluster node I export HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Shares
    - I take the appropriate cluster resource and disk offline on my 2003 node
    - Attach the disk to my 2008 R2 cluster node
    - Added the new disk as a cluster resource (again keeping the same drive letter)
    - Merged the 2003 registry key with the share information (note examining regedit shows the newly imported key)
    - Restart the server, but the share doesn't show up in the cluster administrator or share management tool on my 2008 R2
    1. Is it even possible to transfer file shares using the cluster migration wizard from 2003 to 2008 r2? Maybe I'm missing a step with the client access point (or do I need to transfer all cluster resources over at once).
    2. Should the registry key export import work, when the shares have been created under the cluster administration console (as opposed to windows explorer)?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Currently there is no such a tool which could help transfer Sharing permissions to a new server or a new cluster.
Here is an article about file share in a cluster:
Working with File Shares in Windows Server 2008 (R2) Failover Clusters
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2010/08/19/working-with-file-shares-in-windows-server-2008-r2-failover-clusters.aspx
From this article, share permission of a Windows Server 2008 R2 failover Cluster will be stored in HKLM\Cluster\Resources\<GUID>\Parameters.
You can test to export that keys to new cluster to see if shares will occur however as it is GUID involved, it may not work on a new cluster.

  • How to connect oracle with ms access database

    Dear
We are on release r12, right now we have requirement to connect oracle database with ms access to get some information. We have found gateway(Heterogeneous services) using ODBC, but at the database side where is installed oracle r12 there is no installed ms access software becuse of linux operating system, so how could it will connect ms access because without installing ms-access we are unable to find ms ODBC gateway in ODBC driver under the control panel.
Can any body guide me how could achieve this
    Edited by: oracle0282 on Sep 21, 2011 12:47 AM

If I understand you correctly you want to access Oracle on Linux from MS-Access (possible on Windows only). You need neither a gateway nor Heterogeneous Services, but an Oracle client including ODBC driver (Instant client with ODBC driver is enough) on the Windows machine.
Configure the ODBC driver with the connect informations to the Oracle server.

  • Scale out file server client access point using public nic

    Thoughts on this one.
I have a Scale Out File Server cluster with a Client Access Point. Whenever i talk to the Client Access Point it uses the public nics.
If i talk to the Scale Out File Server directly it uses the private like i want it to. How can i get the Client Access Point using the private nics?

    Hi JustusIV,
Could you tell us why you want to modify the CAP use the “private” network, the CAP is used for client access, your clients may can’t access your cluster if modify your CAP
use private network, if you want know how to modify the CAP of a cluster you can refer the following KB:

  • How do a client access the WAR file at loading a URL?

I would like to apprehend that how do a client access the WAR file at loading a URL?
Actually a web containter, for example, servlet container can have the software tool such as iPlanet[tm] Application server to deploying the servlet classes and JSP files by containing the WEB-INF directory.
how could the process of request and reponse be done by employing the WAR file..plz steer me....

clients don't access a war file. that's just a package for the container to deal with.
when the WAR is deployed, the container unpackages the contents and deploys the app. From that point forward clients use the deployed stuff. the unpackaged servlets handle requests from then on.
your question makes little sense to me.

  • Restricting MDM client access when LDAP is in use

    Hi all,
I'm struggling a bit with MDM's security concept an hope you can help.
We're using LDAP integration so we don't need to create all users in MDM. Most users shall use the Portal with MDM iViews to access and maintain data. Very few users shall use rich clients, like Data Manager or Import Manager.
Some MDM WebServices run in the background of the portal process to automate some tasks, but still with the portal user authentification to make sure that the change tracking / user stamp fields are filled correctly.
I know that LDAP is either on or off, so if we use it, we must use it for both portal and rich client. This means, everybody with a Data Manager installation and MDMRoles in LDAP can log in to Data Manager and use it according to their role. This, we want to prevent, as Data Manager generally offers way more functionality than we want our endusers to have but which we cannot restrict in the role definition so as not to corrupt our portal integration (e.g. the Web Services need more functional rights than a Data Manager user shall have).
Of course we will restrict who gets an installation of Data Manager, but this is hardly enough to ensure security policy, if people simply install the client software themselves.
We already considered a firewall between client and server and only opening the port 20005 for select users (by fixed IP addresses), but that same port is used by Data Manager and Java API (meaning our portal / Web Services), so we would also restrict the portal access.
Is there a solution to grant portal access for basically everyone and rich client access for a select few while having LDAP in use?
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Cheers
    Christiane

    Hi Christiane,
I think you can restrict more functionality of Data Manager for a LDAP User. For this user assign a role which do not have access to create data etc as per the Role assigned to that user of LDAP. I mean the user is able to perform operations in Data Manager according the groups he is member of (Roles in MDM). In MDM Console, You have Role table where you can see Table and Fields and Functions, here you can give access to none for the functions & table and Fields.
Please refer for more details Page no 4 onwards [Step-by-Step Process to Configure LDAP Support for MDM|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/8054d5e1-1000-2c10-a09e-a168973f74b5?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true]
Just check and revert with result.
    Hope it helps..
